Having moved to the OC from out of state, I didn't have anyone to get a reference from for a good Internal Medicine doctor so I relied on Yelp. I work w MD's daily and the most important aspect in a Doctor (besides their clinical knowledge) is their bedside manner or how they make you feel. Dr. Tsai is definitely a 10 out of 10. If you're looking for a MD who cares about his patient's, then look no further. An example of going "above and beyond" is that I experienced severe vertigo (wouldn't wish it on anyone). I went to Urgent Care who referred me to the ER. The vertigo kept me in bed for 10 days. During this time, Dr. Tsai called personally to check up on me to see if there was anything he could do to help. Even though the meds had been prescribed by the ER Doc and there wasn't anything Dr. Tsai would do to change the regimen, just his call(s) was enough to make me feel better and improve my morale. I don't have a clinical study to support a claim of "Dr. Tsai is the best", but I'll definitely say he's a "10 out of 10" in my book. read more

I am 75 years old and I have seen a lot of doctors in my life. Dr. Tsai is hands down the best I have ever seen. He is very smart, very capable, and he has a terrific "bedside manner". Dr. Tsai really knows what he is doing. He is superb in ordering up appropriate tests, and then analysing them. He picks up on the critical issues and explains them in understandable English. If you have a problem that he feels he can't appropriately address, he knows many Newport Beach/Irvine doctors whom to refer you. His office is attractive and very well run; you never see it overly crowded. I'm a retired businessman, and I appreciate how efficient his office is---this is a subtlety but it reflects on the capabilities of the one in charge. I'm very thankful for having found Dr. Tsai. I haven't been feeling well for quite some time. Symptoms included fatigue, feeling cold, hair loss, dry skin, joint pain, memory lapses. My previous family doctor said I looked healthy, and told me to wear warmer clothes and use body lotion. No test was ordered other than CBC on annual physical. Although a couple of numbers were out of the normal range, nothing triggered the alarm. I continued to live with these conditions until one day someone mentioned Dr. Tsai in passing and I thought I'd give him a try. Dr. Tsai immediately ordered blood test and imaging which saved my life. Turned out my symptoms were caused by Thyroid cancer. I have since undergone thyroidectomy and am now on the road to recovery. If I haven't switched doctors, my cancer would have advanced without detection. We all know how important it is to treat cancer at an early stage. It's a matter of life or death. Although thyroid cancer is not life threatening, it can affect other organs if left untreated, and affect the quality of life. I have been seeing Dr. Tsai for almost 15 years now, I feel bad it took me this long to do a review because he deserves 10 stars, even tho I can only give 5! I agree with all the 5 star reviews... I never do reviews but Dr. Tsai is such a kind, compassionate and caring doctor that he deserves much more than words can describe in this review. He gives you the time and attention you need and truly listens and cares about you. His office is always on point, very clean and staff is very helpful. Getting appointments is quick and easy. Even tho I moved to San Diego area and lost my insurance and was put on Medi-Cal, I still gladly pay cash price which is very reasonable and drive over an hour to see him. Having been through really bad doctors in the past, I needed to find a doctor after transplanting from San Diego. Dr. Tsai is anything short of Awesome. His office staff was very accomodating and professional. After meeting Dr. Tsai for the first time, he was really engaged and asked the right questions of which a Doctor should ask when dealing with a new patient. This office is very friendly from the moment I first called to make an appointment. I tried a few places that accepted my medical insurance anthem Blue Cross. The other receptionist at the multiple offices I called were very rude and unable to find an appointment time within the month! When I called the office they were able to schedule me in, take my insurance information and get me booked within the two weeks. During the exam I was seen promptly after filling out the forms and the doctor was very professional. He was very friendly and very thorough asking about family medical history. I saw Dr. Tsai for the first time last week. I had a migraine attack and my regular doctor was not available. Dr. Tsai got me in the same day, was very attentive to my issue and was looking for the most effective treatment based on my feedback of what hadn't worked in the past. He recommended a medication that I hadn't taken in the past and so far it's been very effective. His office is very clean, I didn't have to fill out a ton of paperwork and he saw me right away. Nothing like going to the Doctor's office for a 2:30 appointment and not being seen until 3:00 PM, that was not the case here. I will go back to Dr. Tsai and recommend him to others. read more

When was the last time a doctor actually took your history himself rather than your filling out endless forms? He used the time to get to know you. I am so confused as to why I am getting a bill for services as my insurance covers this AND i have already paid my co-payment of $50.00 each time I go. So now, i have to pay $200, plus the $100 i already paid. That's $300 cash i will have paid for 2 doctor visits. I am only upset because THIS would have been great information to know BEFORE i saw the doctor. They said i was covered thru my insurance, so why am i being billed an extra $200?! My wife and I both have seen Dr. Tsai for many years. We decided to write a review because he stands out for his patient care compared to what we have experienced with other physicians. During the visits, he makes sure to get all the information if you are having any issues before coming up with recommendations. He cares , carefully explains to make sure the patient understands everything about the reason you went to see him and wants you to get better. He will recommend a specialist as needed. He promptly calls us at home in the evening to go over our lab results and answer any questions we might have. The office manager, MeiLin, is very frieindly and easy to work with if you have any billing questions. We truly cannot ask for anything more from the care he and his staff provides. He was my doctor when I moved down to Irvine for school, right when I was in the middle of having Mono and he was great and offered the best services.
