I'm sure this place is absolutely delicious and a delight to visit but I cannot recommend it for takeout. I couldn't eat the food, the burger was soggy from the juices so the bread was mushy, the fries and hush puppies were cold by the time it got to me and were cardboard-y. Due to all of these factors, the flavors weren't satisfying. I'd like to sit and have a meal there to eat hot from the kitchen, hoping that the experience will be different. read more

Meal was ok, nothing special at all, of course it wasn't what I had actually ordered, either. Their process of ordering at the counter but having a waitperson bring it seems weird, the mistake would have been caught earlier if the server had taken the order. Too few servers for the crowd there, or some had too many tables and others not enough? Had to wait a long time for a take home box and then longer still for the check. This is always a fun place to eat, and they have fun as servers, joking and talking to each of the customers. I am always appreciative when my boys are treated like little men. :) The food is good consistent quality, and with all the room filled with televisions carrying various sports, you're bound to have a great time. These were rich/savory (not spicy), with a crispy, golden-brown fried outer layer and a soft, well-seasoned interior. I loved the horseradish ranch dip. The service by Pauline was great, however, when the burger was delivered, I had asked for it with extra hickory sauce as I like my burgers, wet. The burger was delivered with no condiments on it whatsoever and barely any hickory sauce. The fries were at least two days cold. I ordered the extra hickory sauce twice with two different servers and neither brought it to me. Worst burger ever. You used to have good burgers. We waited 30 minutes before getting the appetizer. As a whole, the food and service were both subpar. I ordered fried shrimp and they were greasy and the cocktail sauce was rotten! The first time the cocktail sauce was brought out it was rotten and second time it had a metallic taste. My husband's chicken fried steak was over done. The manager came to the table and offered zero apologies... all she said was that they make everything fresh in the morning. Tables were dirty around us and weren't getting cleaned off. Didn't have the option for how to cook the burger, which annoyed me a bit but they cooked it medium and it was juicy enough. The fries were just OK. Everything was seasoned well. When we first ordered and were getting drinks the cups smelled like clorine and left an oil slick ontop of my water. I ordered the turkey burger and asked for no mushrooms or onions. They serves a room temperature turkey burger that they scrapped the onions and mushrooms off. We requested it be remade and by time it came out my family was done eating. When i got to the center of the burger it was so salty it wasn't not edible. I ordered a side of gravy to dip my fries in and it was gritty and tastes like raw flour. When speaking to the manager about all of the issues she looked at me and said okay.... No apology and had no care for the quality of food, restaurant conditions, and satisfaction of our dinner out. We decided to come back to give them a try again after the last three times of dining and having the same outcome. Managers don't care and that is reflected in the staff. read more

It's several years since I last stopped into this place. It's a concepto wish had more locations in the Houston area. The establishment has fairly large menu of southern,Cajun and fusión texmex ( It's Houston it all works) Everything out of the kitchen is done well, you'll have no complaints. My boyfriend and I absolutely love Willie's! We have discovered Willie's back in Georgetown and we were delighted that they had some locations here in Houston. Everything we have here at Willie's are complete bangers. Might I say that their wings are better than Wingstop? I prefer getting wings at Willie's more than at Wingstop and they are cheaper here too. Great place and the service was perfect. I always love the laid back ambiance they have here. It's perfect for when you with friends or family. The star of the show here was the Texas Fried Chicken Club! Man, that sandwich was massive. The chicken was crispy and juicy. The bread was perfectly toasted with the perfect amount of jalapeño mayo. This sandwich paired perfectly with sweet potato fries. This place deserves all the hype. The only thing I would really skip are the desserts. I feel like the dessert menu could use some revamping. Besides that aspect of the menu, everything else was great! read more

Willys is one of our favorite places to dine. At one point the service was really bad at this restaurant, and we did take a break from it. However, we have found the best waiter in the restaurant. We come every single week and we always have Kelso. He is by far the best customer service related worker I have ever come across in many many restaurants. Kelso always greets you with a smile and how are you doing? He always makes you feel like you are the most important customer to him. No matter how busy the restaurant is., No matter how many people he is serving, he always makes sure that you know he is there for whatever you need. He always brings you fresh food, always checks on you numerous times, and makes sure that you're happy, satisfied, and happy with your meal. He doesn't just leave you and check on you one time. He is always refilling your drinks, making sure you have what you need, and every single time this is done with a smile. As much as I do not want to give away our secret, make sure you ask for Kelso whenever you go to Willys on Fry Road. You will be treated like a five star customer and you will have a great experience. We have let the manager know how wonderful Kelso is, and we hope that this review will give him the recognition that he deserves. read more

This place has been around for as long as I can remember. The staff is always friendly and the food is reliable. While I wouldn't say that the food is exquisite, it's good for what it is. I had the fried catfish and a garden salad. The flavor of the catfish was decent, but the portion size for the price was very underwhelming. I have high expectations for fried catfish. You can blame my grandmother for that. The salad was okay. And their ranch dressing and tartar sauce were good. Lol. My kiddo ordered the Lil Willie burger and fries. The burger was good compared to some places that serve kids burgers. The fries were just okay. I know this because there were plenty left over. They usually get devoured. The restaurant is dated, but again, you know what to expect every time you go in. This is a restaurant that we only go to about twice a year for a reason. It's not bad and it's not great. I was one of the first few people to arrive and order out of a party of 25. My daughter's food was the last to arrive out of the entire party and when I asked the server Jaclyn what was going on she had an attitude and kept saying it's coming and that it takes awhile. I ordered 2 Cajun platters which consisted of boiled seafood and a kid's meal chicken tenders. The seafood understandably takes awhile but the fried food should not have. After I asked for a 3rd time she then asked what did my daughter order which further let me know she didn't even know what was supposedly "coming". The seafood came with no excess juice, and had little to no flavor. The corn wasn't cooked long enough and the potatoes were very dry as well. I was not pleased with my experience to say I spent $100. read more

My how things have digressed since my 2018 review. Saturday eve and they were pretty busy, but the food taste, IMHO, has severely deteriorated. We had a Chicken Fried Steak which was very crispy, but tasted like old grease. The meat was tough and gristly. Gravy and mashed potatoes were good. This meal was a 2 star. Onion rings were similarly taste-tainted. ALL restaurant ketchup should be Heinz. Willies ketchup was in a Heinz lookalike container, but lacked the fresh zip of Heinz. Margaritas we just OK but CHEAP! Saving grace was Sam. She was a seasoned professional who really cared about our dining experience. She earned a 5 star! Maybe it was Saturday night rush, but Willies dining experience was pretty lackluster. I'll give them one more try. read more

If it wasn't for the speedy and kind service of the girl who delivered me my curbside, I would be giving one star. I have been craving a baked potato for days and was hoping to save money here instead of going to Rudy's, that was a mistake. I understand that you cant expect the food to look exactly like the photo advertised, but this is just completely sad. Maybe it's a preference thing, but I like to have my potatoes to have more than just VERY FEW pieces of bacon bits and more loaded. I used to love Willie's when I first moved here, but in the past year, I've felt like their quality of food has gone down and each time I decide to give them a chance (because I remember how much I used to love them!)
