"MY WIFE LET ME PICK WHERE WE'RE EATING LUNCH AT TODAY --- AND I CHOSE ---" My Wife had a Doctors appointment just before Lunch and we know this one takes awhile - and it did - so - after it was over we went out for a Late Lunch or an Early Dinner - doesn't matter because either way we are getting a Margarita. We talked about where we want to eat at and my Wife mentioned Willie's Grill & Icehouse and then said; "You pick where you want to eat at." - Well, guess what - we decided on Willies Grill & Icehouse - see how easy that was - but not the one we always go to - we chose the one at Kuykendahl & 99 because we have not been to that one. We arrived just in time for a Margarita because whatever time it is - it's time for a Margarita. My Wife ordered the Swirl (Lime & Strawberry) and I ordered a Strawberry. They are only $3 each and are 16 Frozen Ounces of Deliciousness. Now we must order some food because it's time for 'Lunner'. Looking over their Vast Menu my Wife decided on the 'Willie Burger' with French Fries; Half Pound Patty, topped with Mayo, Mustard, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Pickles & Onion. I am getting the 'IceHouse Burger' with French Fries; Half Pound Patty with Pepper Jack Cheese, BACON & Mushrooms, Mayo, Mustard, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Pickles & Onion. The Order Taker Guy made our Margaritas and topped my Wife's off with a Strawberry & a Lime, mine was topped off with a Strawberry. We took our drinks and Order receipt and located a Booth that was just Cleaned because we saw them do it - and they do it right - nice. Our Server, Lynn, was right at our table when we sat down. We spoke for a little while, she read off our order and then delivered it to the Kitchen. My Wife and I toasted and enjoyed those Deliciously Cold Frozen Margaritas and these are Really Good Stuff - Nice Flavoring with a little Kick. Lynn returned with extra Napkins and containers of condiments. We spoke a little bit more and she remembers our Most Favorite Server Ever from the Willie's on FM-1960, Alicia, who now became a Police Officer. Let me tell you, Alicia was the Best Server Ever, Cute & Funny and we really miss her and wish her well. Lynn returned with our Food and both baskets were filled with Big Burgers and Fries. We Love Willie's Burgers and have had just about every one they offer. One bite into this Burger told me that this Willie's is the Best Willie's because they added more Stuff on their Burgers. It's like they kind of Slopped It Up a little and that's what I look for - a little extra Tastyliciousness. They also delivered it really fast - like right off the grill to your table. The Burger was served HOT. My Wife loved hers also, said it was really Fresh and served Hot - and tasted Great. We Love their Fries also. Lynn brought out some Mayo for us to enjoy them with. My Wife didn't eat all of her Fries because she's not tall enough to do that and doesn't want to get wide. She said that if she's taller she would eat more Fries - so I ate'em up for her because I'm tall - and the extra Mayo was just enough to finish them off. Both our Baskets are empty and my Wife ordered a Strawberry Margarita To-Go, so Lynn brought out one with a sealed lid on it for the road - actually, for her to enjoy at Home. Love their Margaritas here - Very Nice Flavoring. Lynn earned the Dollar-Bow-Tie Award and Loved it. She was great to talk to and has been with Willie's for several years and Loves her work. Mariah & Rosa are the Managers here and you can see that they train their Employees really well. Everyone seems to enjoy what they are doing, are Very Polite and Courteous and they keep this place Really Clean. A Big Round of Applause to the entire staff at this Willie's Grill & Icehouse. She was like your mom when you haven't been home in a while. She really was a great server. The food was fried you can't really screw that up too bad. Worst location so far. I was greeted by someone who was not our server. She told us our server would be there soon. No one came outside for about 20 mins so, we move inside and wait another 20 mins. No food, finally we ask for a manager. She tells us someone is coming, NO ONE CAME BY. Yet, in the front gathered were the staff. No teamwork... at all. 2nd time, we ask for a manager again.. They sent a sever to the table to handle this. Our food was cold! No one ran our food! The RICE in the gumbo was CRUNCHY!!!! The shrimp is not the same as shown in the photo! It was frozen shrimp!!!! No battered shrimp. The gumbo looked like a kid chopped up veggies and threw it in a pot and called it gumbo! Either way, go to another location! Don't order the nachos! I don't even know why they are on their menu. Platter of thin tortilla chips with some sort of cheese melted on them and a sprinkling of diced meat. No spice, no salsa. Lettuce, tomatoes, and sour cream on the side. It looked like something a poor college kid would try to make in his dorm room with a microwave. 0/5 Willie Burger was just okay. My main gripe was that they have this very moist, 1/2 lb burger plus toppings, but the bun lacked the structural integrity to stand up to the fillings. Within 2 bites, the burger bun was saturated in juices and falling apart. I couldn't tell if the bun was toasted before, but given the flimsy nature of it, I can't imagine that it was. Ended up eating the rest with a fork and knife. 2/5 Best thing I can say about this place is it has a nice ambiance and outdoor dining area when the weather is nice, which moved them up to 2 stars for me. Maybe there are better things on the menu and we just ordered poorly, but we left wishing we had just gone and gotten steakburgers at Freddies instead. read more

Turns out our timing was perfect and the guy who took my order was super helpful. Check-the place was clean.:-) Check-the food was really good. I would not have guessed the grilled salmon would be perfect. It was a filling portion, firm on the outside and melt in your mouth tender on the inside. My +1 went on and on about the fried shrimp and also ate a third of my salmon. Check-our server, Dante, was friendly, super attentive and did not sound the least bit scripted when he welcomed us in, introduced himself or when he checked to see if our first visIt was going ok. This is my first time at a Willie's, so I stopped in to give it a try. I have heard the mixed reviews on the food, so I decided to keep it basic with a bacon cheeseburger and loaded fries. The service concept is different from anywhere else I have been--you order and get your drink at the counter, then your server brings the food and handles your bill. I saw some folks getting a bit confused over this as the restaurant became more crowded and they had to find a table with a drink in hand. Also, the order takers get the bar drinks for you, which slows down the line if the person orders a mixed drink. My server was very polite and attentive, checking up on me very regularly--maybe two times too many, though I cannot fault her politeness at all. I got my bacon cheeseburger and fries in reasonable time. It was a competent one, done but not overdone with good bacon. The fries were OK, I usually don't get loaded ones but I've had them before. If you like them they will be fine but not spectacular. They have desserts in a menu at the table--if you want one your server will need to add it to the bill. This caused an issue as my server took the order but didn't add it, so I didn't find out it wasn't coming until she brought me my bill. I got it shortly thereafter. I got the brownie with ice cream, and again it's about as good as any. Willie's has the kind of rustic and sparse decor you expect in any ice house, except it has walls. The bathroom was in reasonable condition considering the place was very busy. Overall I had a decent experience but am not sure I would seek it out. I would go with someone who wanted to go there. I'm taking into account that many friends of mine have eaten here and not been impressed by the food. They may have addressed some early service issues but overall it isn't off to a great start, though it is certainly busy and popular. read more

This place had a family friendly atmosphere with a sandbox for our kiddos to entertain themselves but we will never be back. We ordered queso for an appetizer, 5lbs of crawfish & shrimp tacos. The crawfish came out before our queso & was by far the worst crawfish I've ever eaten. Think about chewing on a piece of cold tire & that gives a pretty indication of what they were like. Not to mention that nothing in the bucket they came out in was even lukewarm. Albeit, the manager made it right by taking them off my ticket & I ordered loaded fries instead which never came. Moving to the fried shrimp tacos... the shrimp tasted dirty & were 100% undercooked. The waitress came by only once during our visit & they certainly weren't busy. The staff in the front where you order wasn't very friendly but they weren't rude. They just seemed kind of over being there. It was my first time to ever go to a Willie's and I wasn't sure of where to go or what to do after we ordered. I ordered a frozen jack & coke, the pick 2 fried pickles and mozzarella sticks, a Philly cheesesteak with fries, and my boyfriend ordered the catfish with fries. The fried pickles and mozzarella sticks were great! I definitely recommend them. The Philly cheesesteak was terrible. The meat tasted like McDonald's hamburger meat. The fries were very good though. We went to this Willie's on June 26. Service was great. Waitstaff (Megan) was attentive, friendly, and professional. Five stars for the waitstaff. Wife ordered Fish and shrimp. I ordered the Seafood platter. We ordered chips and queso too. The coleslaw on our plates had a dubious color and a peculiar taste. We put it aside. The shrimp were cooked properly but were bland. I question that they are Gulf shrimp. The crawfish was also quite bland. The catfish was the biggest disappointment. It was bland and undercooked in my opinion. read more

Horrible! Horrible service; horrible food; horrible customer service. As a seafood lover I have given this restaurant multiple opportunities. I have eaten in restaurant, to go and delivery. This evening I had Uber eats deliver my food which I had ordered seafood platter blackened. For the second time I received 100% fried food. I also received a small cup of gumbo with zero, zero Pro Tien. I had a cup of broth onion green pepper and tomato. The sweet potato fries that I received were overcooked, stuck together in a huge clump and felt like rubber. Receipt by the way clearly says. BLACKENED! I called 20 TIMES for an hour and didn't get through because line was busy. After using the contact us to email restaurant my disappointment I tried one more time to call the restaurant. The manager came on, I explained the situation that my order was 100% incorrect she asked me to hold and hung up instead. It is now 8 pm and I have a $50 meal I cannot eat. read more
