Good atmosphere & great scenery. Best fried pickles I've ever been served…read more My group consisted of 3 couples (6 individuals total). Even when we rarely go out for boat days (usually in priest or old hickory) we avoid packed outdoor food venues, but it wasn't too bad on a Sunday afternoon here. No wait & plenty of outdoor seating with ample space between tables. One thing all of us mask wearers noticed was that the staff & servers were not masked at all, they didn't even have masks on them, & very few of the patrons coming & going had mask on either. Must be due to the geopolitical views of the people in the area. This concerned me & I kept my mask on the entire time except while eating since the staff were not masked & walking by closely and often. I won't let that factor into the review but it needs to be noted for others who look here for guidance. There were several drink specials & food specials made known to us by our server immediately & he was quick to fill our drink orders of mango habanero bloody marys & pontoon punch which are both highly recommend by our party. I ordered some fried pickles to split up & they are very different & exceptionally good. They are slivers of pickle spears fried in a manner that resembles fried green beans. Everybody raved about them & they were gone quickly. One order was almost enough to share for 4-5 people. Half of the party ordered club sandwiches & the other half ordered burgers & fish tacos. The fish tacos were stated to be better than Sams on old hickory & as good as some served on the Florida panhandle in PCB, Pensacola, Destin etc. the club sandwich was nothing to write home about, pretty basic & fairly bland. The Mac & cheese is well above average & could make the cut of the top 10 I've had in the middle Tennessee area. IMPORTANT NOTE. THEY CHARGE A 20% gratuity for parties of 6 or more. If I was on the lake I'd probably come back, I'd expect to see masks on the staff though.

She told us it was lost and asked if we still wanted it, told her we were ok but it was brought out anyway. Very disappointed in the high dollar appetizer and dining experience. Also, why don't the servers have sections instead of taking turns with customers....seems like it would be easier to give the servers sections instead of every 3rd or 4th table, which seems like it would be difficult to keep up with. Very disappointing and not worth the $$$ it costs!

The little white building on 4th Street still wears its vintage RC Cola sign like a badge of honor, and the moment you push open the door, that familiar sizzle of burgers hitting the oil hits you like a hug from your childhood. We slid onto the stools at the old horseshoe counter, the same one I remember from when I was a kid, and watched the magic happen right in front of us. Patties kissed with bread for that impossibly soft center, fried in the shallow oil until the edges turned perfectly crisp and golden. My cheeseburger arrived "unsquoze," glistening and glorious, layered with that signature tangy sauce, crisp pickles, and onions that somehow make everything sing. One bite and I was twelve years old again--only this time I got to share it with my own family. The new owners have kept every bit of what made Dovie's legendary. Same perfect burgers. Same simple, soulful menu. Same feeling that you're exactly where you're supposed to be. My kids devoured theirs with the same wide-eyed joy I used to have, and we left with full hearts and fingers still a little greasy in the best possible way. Dovie's isn't just a burger joint. It's a living piece of Tompkinsville history that still tastes like home. If you've never been, go. If you grew up on these burgers, go back. It's every bit as wonderful as you remember.

They have a venmo barcode outside, (it is $10 for parking) but I couldn't get it to work, so I went inside. It was packed! But I did manage to pay and get a receipt to put on my dashboard. They told me I could get $5 off my purchase if I showed my receipt. However at the register they said that promotion was over. In the end, they honored it, so I appreciated that. We had the banana pudding and peach cobbler and an ice cream. The ice cream was purchased separately, so we got it immediately. But it took at least 20 minutes for the pudding and cobbler. At one point, I jokingly said to my daughter "are they making it right now"...and they I think they were. The vanilla wafers on the sides and bottom were crunchy, not soggy. It is one of the better banana puddings I've had lately. Definitely recommend it! The cobbler was warm but not what I was looking for. They have a ton of local made products and the bathroom was very clean. Their sign advertised Farm to Table. If we get out that way again I would definitely give their menu a try.

We were excited based off some of the reviews and pictures, but ended up disappointed. I kept trying to find reasons to make the visit better, but everything just fell flat. For starters, the staff wasn't attentive at all. The hostess went to sit us outside as requested, because it looked so relaxing from walking up, upon entering the outside, many people were smoking (cigs, not vape). I'd don't mind if people smoke, but I don't want to eat a meal with it lingering around. We then went back inside and they sat us in the corner by the drink station/kitchen. Throughout the meal, the waitresses gossiped about their lives and their customers while the table next us a waitress was wrapping silverware. Our waitress didn't arrive for like ten minutes and then took forever to bring our drinks back. The vibes were just all off. Like they all wanted to get out of there and not be around each other. It wasn't even late. The food was average, nothing spectacular. We got a burger and the fish and chips. For a traditional pub, fish and chips should be one of the best things on the menu, less than par. The beer cheese soup was a highlight. Very good. We also ordered some type of pear cheeseburger. Different, but not bad. I'd try something else if I were to return. The decor is traditional pub meets modern hipster vibes. Hard to screw up. Although, limited beer options. Only 4 drafts for a pub is kinda weird. The good news is there's a brewery next door. Like I said, I was optimistic and excited. I don't give a lot of bad reviews but this one didn't hit the mark. Considering there are many other options within walking distance, I'd try something else if I were you.
