I gave my cousin a spare key to my car to hold, just in case I get locked out. After 2 years, I learned that she somehow misplaced it. I contacted Honda, I was quoted $260 for the key and another $150 to program. I assumed they were my only choice because it was a Honda key and it was one of those fancy press-to-start FOB keys.. :( I vented my frustration to a friend, who talked to another and I ended up contacting Will. My first phone call to Will I had tons of questions. From the phone call I felt he was uninterested but I thought to myself I really needed this key made at an affordable price so deal with it. Will advised me he does not carry the key parts, but recommended I buy online at Amazon (or even see Honda for the key.) After I purchase the part he could cut and program the key. A week later, my key arrived from Amazon and I gave Will another call. Will didn't really have an appointment system, I just told him I'll be there around 5:15pm. He didn't take a name or my number so I showed up. His shop is a little difficult to find. It looks like it's in a residential turned to industrial area. Will has a sign out so I just took the stairs up and rang the bell. He was very kind and friendly despite my initial thoughts about him on the phone. So after losing my key to our 2014 Toyota Rav4, I thought I could go to any locksmith to get a spare. We called a couple of places that were close to where I lived but found out we have the newer type of keys that are micro-chipped and because of this, the average locksmith is unable to make a copy. I went ahead and contacted my Toyota dealership in Kalihi and first, they said I had to make an appointment and the earliest available would have been two months from the day I inquired. Second, I asked how much it would cost and they quoted me over $400! I asked the consultant if he knew of other reputable places outside of Toyota that could help me but he said he didn't know... (of course they are trained to say that lol). I immediately scroll through Yelp and start researching and come across "Will's Lock & Key". My boyfriend calls him and Will tells us to come straight down and he can help us out, no appointment necessary. Will is located in the industrial area of Kalihi just off of Nimitz Hwy so it's not the most convenient location if you are a townie like me but it is totally worth the drive! (He is also located across the street from Alicia's Market - famous for their delicioius poke and crispy porkso that's always another reason to drive to this area!!!). Once we arrived and navigated our way up some stairs to his little shop on the second floor, he was very friendly and welcoming. We told him we couldn't believe the quoted price we got from Toyota and he was kind enough to explain to us the difference with a regular metal key and the newer micro-chipped keys. We ended up paying $125 for a new key and having it reprogrammed but he let us know that if we purchase our own key online (ebay or Amazon), he can just charge us for the reprogramming. I will definitely go back to Will for all of my key issues and recommending others to go as well :) read more
