I just picked up a 2017 Honda Fit LX and I started to experience electrical issues after 3 days. It ends up loosing power on the road with signs that it could be the battery or alternator. I changed out the battery and drive about a mile where the symptoms came back. Thinking it's the alternator, I pull it out to get tested. Orilleys said they could not test it with their equipment and they have to special order. I asked AI and they brought me to CPR and glad they did! They not only tested the alternator but deemed it good...still charges. I read the the limited voltage regulator goes bad on these models out the blue. CPR was able to pinpoint that. He had options to repair it but was truthful that he is not 100 percent sure that the regulator is the issue since he does have a tested for that regulator. I let CPR know that I'll work with the dealership and thankfully they scheduled me with their repair shop. Brought in a alternator to be exchanged for a rebuilt for my Honda Acty van. Unfortunately, this is not a common replacement for this import. But the service individual did research and found that the parts could be acquired at the local automotive parts distributor. He called me back and said if I can bring the part in, he would be able to rebuild the unit and have it back by the next day. Very glad he was able to do this and save me the time and effort I would have to endure, Going internationally and having the part shipped to me and wait at least a few days before I can fix my vehicle. 5 stars for these guys who delivered on his estimate repair. read more

Bought rebuilt alternator in June 2019 "lifetime warranty". Alternator made whining noises. Brought it back a couple days later and was given another REBUILT one. This one whined as well. Was told the whine would go away in time. May 2023 the alternator stopped whining and stopped working. Took it back for warranty replacement. Ron looked at it for a couple of seconds then said the alternator did not come from them. Showed receipt ect. then he said they would rebuild it. Got a call from them the next day saying they would not honor their warranty "CORROSION". I ended up buying a new alternator and took the old one back. Check ebay first. I had a generator rebuilt by CPR about five years ago. It was on my classic car, so only had 600 miles of use when sparks began to shoot out of the rear. I biked down 7 miles to CPR and they told me it would need a total rebuild for $250, which turns out to be the standard charge. That actually is a clever strategy, but when a couple of brushes only need to be replaced, it feels bad from the customer point of view. I asked the owner if I could just have my core back since they were the rebuilders and I had biked so far to get there. She replied that I should pay the bill that I incurred. The man at the counter said that they would keep my generator. I understand that it is a business, and if this had been a generator from any other re-builder than themselves, I would think that a happy customer would be more value than the bench test fee, particularly in the age of online reviews. So, I went on ebay and just installed a rebuild from a 100% feedback manufacturer on the mainland... $60 including shipping, no core charge. Got to me in two days, free shipping. Installed and works properly. Let's see if it beats the CPR 600 mile endurance challenge! read more

This is a good, honest well run repair shop. I came all the way from the mainland because I got tired of hearing how my auntie and uncle kept getting screwed over by bad mechanics. She was told 2x the alternator was bad, (neighbor and the local sears ) and Sears recharged her battery. Next morning, car dead. I was told this over the phone and assumed someone knew what they were doing- and because I knew how the shops can be here I was figuring at least $500 to fix, after towing and all the headache. I flew in from Las Vegas (hey, vacation right?) got here, ripped alternator out of Honda CR-V (since car would not start and jumper cables no way to test alternator in car) and brought it here to test. I came down here to do all the maintenance, tune up everyone's cars fix this alternator and save my auntie a lot of money since I am very mechanically inclined. Packed TOOLS in my suitcase.. I threw it on the counter and said "test it and if it needs fixing, do it"- they took it out back, bench tested it, opened it up and checked inside and said it looked like NEW. It was just a bad battery. I bought a battery from them and vehicle has been fine since, and we saved $$$ since anyone else would've sold her a battery and a new alternator, and who knows what else. Was asking around looking at quotes for a New Alternator for a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder. This place had the relatively the cheapest price. Although they needed to special order the part because they didn't have it on hand. They said they could bring in the very next day! Usually payment is needed but the owner allowed me to just pay and pick it up the next day when it was delivered. They did give me a new starter - but as I explained to them I bought another starter from O'Reillys because they were closed when I went to see them. So now I have a brand new starter that is useless! (Conceptually does it not make sense to just issue a refund instead of giving me a new unit? Especially since they can fix the defective one they originally gave me? The truth is that they keep your money instead of following through with their return policy!). What a great find. The starter on my wife's CRV went out and it was over $500 at the dealer for an OEM one. Orielly's wanted $259 and I finally ended up getting a rebuild one Amazon for $159. The Amazon starter lasted 3 days and locked up. I remembered seeing this place as I drive into Honolulu so I thought I would give them a call. The person who answered the phone was very nice and told me it would be $147 to rebuild my starter and they could do it in 2 hrs. I dropped it off at lunch and picked it up after work. I went to this place last wk to buy rebuild alternator. I went to my mechanic and he suggested to me I should bring this alternator to checker to check for voltage. I went to checker(I think now is not checker but I forgot the name). The guy at checker told me that the alternator is bad and I should buy one from them. I went back to starters &alternators place and brother BOb test it and he said it worked and the voltage is 14.5. I even asked him to talk to my mechanic and he said ok. PLEASE READ BEFORE USING THERE SERVICES!!!!!.................... Droped off my alternator for a 20 year old bike that I was restoring to have it checked out, I told them that it has already be tested and works. ALL I asked for is for them to take it apart to make sure everthing is good and to replace what's needed (It had several rusted scews...)and have it repainted (I even dropped off a black can of paint.) NO ONE CALLED, so I called back a week later and nobody knew anything about requested work to be preformed so I went by to the shop to follow up and the guy had to call someone and told me it was going to cost me $50 ????? (A new one only cost $120 w/shiping and warranty )asked him what work was preformed and he said that he "wasn't sure but everthing worked fine"...What???? He didn't even provide me with a copy of a work order or payment? ALSO they never even painted the part???? SO...... WHAT WAS I CHARGED FOR??? I had to replace the rusty screws myself, repaint the unit myself. If this is the type of business this guy runs by ripping off people for work that was not preformed.....I feel sorry for you, this is BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES!!!!! Great service. My Nippon Denso alternator crapped out on me one morning, leaving me stuck on the side of the road. I swapped in the spare I had, but that one died the next day. I gave these guys a call, and they let me know that they could rebuild it in a matter of hours. So, the next day I took my alternator out, handed it over, and went back home. 3 hours later, I got a phone call letting me know that my alternator was rebuild, included a limited lifetime warranty on parts and labor, and that I could pick it up whenever I wanted. I headed straight there, drove back home and installed the nicely rebuild alt. They were nice enough to add a coat of paint and position the warranty sticker nicely. 10 minutes later, on a test drive, my battery light came on again! (oh no!) Alternator wasn't charging my battery! -Expletive-, I said to myself. I called them back, and they told me to bring it back. They guy I was talking to said he'd check it out. I went in, handed it over again, and not 10 minutes later he came back out to the storefront and told me that whoever had rebuild it had rebuilt it with the wrong part. He asked me to wait another 20 minutes and he'd fix it right up. So, I waited, and sure enough, 20 minutes later he came back to the front with my re-rebuild alt, handed it to me and told me it was ready. Drove back home, installed it, and it's been working fine since. It's been around 5 months since my whole ordeal. I'd like to tip my hat to Starters & Alternators for handling the situation so well. Had they accused me of buggering the install, I would have instantly frozen the charge, left the alternator, and taken my money elsewhere. And the technician didn't have to fix it that day either. He could have told me to come back the next day, since it was so close to closing. But he handled it. He fixed my alt, and I am completely satisfied with the repair. The lifetime warranty (which is voided, by the way, if you soak the alt in any fluid; makes sense) is a nice touch. If I need a starter or alternator rebuilt in the future, I'll come straight here. I swore I would never go back to these guys after a bad experience a few years ago. Glad I did. They are under new management and the woman running the place keeps it clean and organized. They even washed off my alternator so it looks new. Glad to do business with them and would go again. I went to Central Pacific Rebuilders - Starters & Alternators on Saturday, February 6, 2016 to have my starter for my truck rebuilt. One of the workers quoted me for $119 (plus tax) to rebuild my starter. Later that same day, they called me to pick up the starter as they said they were done rebuilding/fixing it and I paid $125.60 (in cash) for the services. When I installed the starter into my truck, the starter was not working and had the same problem that it had before I had the starter rebuilt. I ran a diagnosis on the truck and it showed that the problem was still the same and the problem with the starter was not fixed. I went back to Central Pacific Rebuilders - Starters & Alternators on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 to let them know that even though they claimed to have rebuilt the starter, they did not fix the problem with it. The worker claimed that they did rebuild the starter and it should work properly. The worker even told me that the starter should be working and all they needed to do was clean it up. I explained to them that it did not work as my truck was still having the same problem with the starter before it was rebuilt. I left to try the starter one more time, but yet again, the problem was still with the starter. I called the company to see if I could get a refund because they charged me for rebuilding services that did not work. They then notified me that I had 4 hours to come back to the company and prove that it was the "rebuilt" starter that was the problem and not anything else. They insisted that I brought my truck to their company so that they could see it themselves. I told them that my truck is not able to drive on the road because the registration is currently expired. I had to go to Ron's Performance to get a recommendation for an equivalent starter. I then went to Napa Auto Parts to buy the new starter. I installed the new starter (from Napa Auto Parts) and the engine started with no problems. Within the given 4-hour timeframe, I went back to Central Pacific Rebuilders to show them the evidence that the rebuilt starter was faulty and that they did not properly fix/rebuild it. I requested my refund AGAIN, but they continued to give me a hard time about bringing in my truck, giving them the rebuilt starter back, and claiming that it was my fault that the starter was not working. After a long day of running around and constantly going back and forth with the company about getting the refund, they reluctantly gave me my refund, but inconveniently gave it to me in the form of a Bank of Hawaii check. I originally wanted to do business with Central Pacific Rebuilders - Starters & Alternators because they have such good reviews and feedback from other customers online. Unfortunately, my experience with them was HORRIBLE. I would NEVER want to do business with them again. They had terrible customer service and made it very difficult to get a refund or even find out what they did to "rebuild" my starter. read more
