We spent some time looking through Yelp at the local selections and decided on Willy Taco. We were blown away! We had the Tres Amigos appetizer which hit all the spots. We had 3 different drinks and the mule was our favorite. She had the two taco plate combo with the brussel sprouts. Tacos were great but the brussel sprouts stole the show for her. I had the Cali burrito which seemed a bit small but in the end the flavors were fantastic and the size filled me up perfectly. I've been a fan and frequent flier of the Greenville Feed & Seed location for years, and now that I live and work in Spartanburg, I can confirm that this location is just as delicious and fun! My most recent weeknight visit started off just right with friendly service and a drink- that Mexican Ashtray hit just right after a long day of being a desk troll. Shoutout to whoever had the idea to offer not one, but THREE varieties of Cholula at the table--I appreciate being able to re-up my hot sauce quotient at will. My husband and I shared the queso blanco appetizer, which was quite tasty. Bonus points for the magic dust sprinkled over the chips. For entrees, tacos came in strong. I had a Crispy Avocado and a Chilly Willy shrimp, both of which were done just right. The fried elements were crispy and crunchy with zero excess grease, the veggie toppings were crisp and fresh, and the sauces were savory and so good. My better half enjoyed a Mother Clucker and a Patagonia Steak, which came with an awesome chimichurri. The menu looked a little different since my last visit. I was sad to see that my favorite taco (Cauliflower Power) did not make the cut, but change is good, right? I will say that the grits are a stellar addition to the sides and more than made up for it. Each taco is the size of an appetizer plate about 6-7" and loaded up with meat, toppings and all the fixings. A bit overwhelming for a small person like myself. My beau had the chicken chimichanga. He loved it. He works in Construction so after being in the heat all day the serving size was perfect for him. Second go around we both got the Taco bowls. Equally delicious and HUGE! I added the cilantro lime shrimp and he added the beef. There is a lot of fixings on these salads. Although good definitely not the healthiest. Do not let the looks fool you.. it is a good spot. The service was fast and friendly. The parking was premium. We started with the trio .. guac, salsa, and queso. The queso was solid. The guacamole could use some more seasoning and spice. They have a varied menu with tacos, quesadillas, salads , and more. Loved the street corn ... just like they serve in Texas. I liked the Korean pork taco, but it wish the tortilla was a little larger. My son loved the shrimp taco ... the sauce had a good flavor, and the shrimp were crispy. Normally I love going there but today got bad service and guy at the bar was rude not going there anymore lost regular customer.

This was our second time visiting this location.I enjoyed my selection,but my husband was kind of over it. I would come again, because I really liked the food although the chicken could use some additional cooking. The decor and the atmosphere is really nice and the severs are really attentive. The only issue I have is that there are a few severs that require deodorant badly. In my opinion,there is no way that the mangers or owners do not know or smell the employees who need to use deodorant. She recommended Willy Taco. After I briefly looked at the menu, I was sold. Willy Taco has the feel of a hippie dive bar. There is an outdoor eating area and we were able to sit at the bar. I debated between the craft tacos, a brisket sandwich, and a burger. I decided I should go with what Willy is known for, tacos. I chose the Hot Chick, Ninja Pig, and Mother Clucker. Out of the 3, the Hot Chick was my favorite. It had a spicy and seemed to be breaded to order chicken finger with pickles and some kind of creamy and spicy ranch. The Ninja Pig was different from normal because they were out of pork. So they used brisket instead. I think this taco would have worked better with the pork. The brisket wasn't bad but just doesn't absorb juices like pork does. The Mother Clucker was ok. It had pulled chicken with bacon and cheese on it. Sweet tea was refreshingly sweet! Writing this is rough. I wanted for this restaurant to live up to its rating. That ended up being an absolute NO. I had purchased 3 tacos and steak rolls. The service was fine and the atmosphere is also fine so I expected to grab my food and have a smile. The first taco was a steak bbq. The presentation was fine but when I bit into it , it was like biting into a sponge. The flavor was like a very diluted bbq water which made it absolutely terrible. The second taco had so much vinegar that it made me gag. The third taco I couldn't finish either. The steak rolls were soggy and greasy. The best part was the Brussels sprouts. I really wanted some Mexican street corn, too, but I wasn't sure how soon I would be eating after this and I didn't want to fill myself up since I was staying with others. There are a few things, though, that aren't ideal: 1) The barstools are crap - so uncomfortable it's hard to sit for too long. 2) Have to beg for silverware - let's bring back the routine we were all raised on where everyone gets a fork, knife & spoon. 3) Restroom needs attention- one of the toilets has been leaking for 3 years minimum 4) Bar staff needs to be more attentive to the customers than their co-workers/friends 5) Our bartender told us there's no happy hour on Friday, however, the menu says happy hour is weekdays....of which, Friday is one Don't be deterred by this list, though! I'm impressed. A friend recommended this place for us as we found ourselves passing through town. I had three tacos. The Southern Tide was one with crispy shrimp, smoked applewood bacon, pimento cheese, etc. Another was a marinaded steakThe Patagonia Steak and the last was a Braised Brisket with Dos Equis somehow involved in the cooking process. I was expecting somewhat standard fare, but was quite pleasantly surprised to find creative and unique flavor combinations. These are really amazing tacos. I find it difficult to call them anything other than highly creative gourmet interpretations of traditional Mexican food... My family was visiting Spartanburg for graduation weekend. Our very first meal in Spartanburg on that very first visit was at Willy Taco so we decided it should definitely be a place we visit on our last visit to Spartanburg! Staff was friendly and we were seated quickly. We ordered the Tres Amigos for our table. Chips were perfectly seasoned and the guacamole, queso and salsa were delicious. Most of our group went with the "Loco Lunch Tacos" and I'm sure that between the six of us we probably tried all flavors of tacos! I have to admit I avoided Willy Taco for years because people were raving about the "fish tacos" - which I don't eat because I don't like fish. HOWEVER, someone brought me a chipotle pulled chicken quesadilla and it was one of the best foods I have ever eaten. It's now on our weekly rotation for lunch.
