Known throughout LA as some of the biggest scammers as written about when they got exposed in an LA weekly article. These people agreed in writing to let me stay at my apartment for two years on a month to month payment basis due to me being declined for a long term lease. Almost TEN months into my time they informed me that they suddenly had somebody else moving into MY apartment and that I had only three weeks to move! I had to get a lawyer involved and The Line Collection eventually agreed to pay me one months rent back in exchange for leaving within only TWO WEEKS. They agreed to pay me the day after moving, LIED to me stating they had signed the cash for keys agreement since they couldn't evict me(I had never missed a single rent payment or had a single negative interaction with anybody) and the day after THEY BLOCKED MY NUMBER AND REFUSED TO PAY ME THE $3500 PROMISED. COMPLETE AND VILE SCAMMERS, STAY AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE Then they even tried to have my Airbnb account cancelled after I reported their scam tactics. I helped the manager Alekos as a locksmith(I've been one for ten years) and did thousands of dollars worth of free work on the building security and several apartment units security as well. I wished I would have read the yelp reviews for this company and NOT the review of the actual property I rented from these people as the reviews for the actual Yelp applicable to the property were obviously misleading and illegitimate. That said let me just start by saying that this company now operates under the name of BNB Asset Management due to a number of lawsuits they were subjected to under the name of Wilshire Skyline, with the latest one due to privacy violations in at property in Santa Monica, google it is public record and yes they were found GUILTY! The owner David Bollag is by far the most despicable and dishonest business owner, so to the extreme of covering the devious actions and harassment tenants are subjected to by the property manager at property I resided in. In fact when the harassment was brought up to David along with the supportive evidence to substantiate my claim he began threatening with an eviction. After I expressed my feelings on yelp he harassed me and demanded that I remove the yelp reviews or else. His property manager at the property I lived in even denied me ever residing there. We anticipated having to take David to small claims for our security deposit however, he knew what's good for him as he returned all of our $2400 back to us, however that has not been the same case with many (if not all) others. Updating my previously horrendous review because they've made some major improvements and hired the world's best manager, Georgina. This girl gets shit done! If there's a maintenance issue, she is super responsive and handles it in a timely manner. It makes living here much easier because we finally have someone who gives a shit. They got new pool/patio furniture (which arrived with stains on them) but nonetheless they're better than the old broken crap we had laying around the pool before. I am currently a resident in one of Wilshire Skyline's apt buildings on Argyle Ave in the Hollywood Hills. First of all, there is absolutely NO parking and they go to now measure to let you know how impossible is actually is to park anywhere within a block radius at night which is extremely frustrating for any normal person that works during the day and sleeps at night! You may think that it's worth the lower rent to go without a spot but trust me, it is NOT! I have never had insect problems at any other building I've lived in but I've had to have them spray several times here for roach-like beetles, house centipedes, etc. The "secure" entry door that leads to the building is often left unlocked which is very discomforting, especially on a street where cars are broken into and stolen all the time (first hand experience) NOT TO MENTION they are extremely unprofessional and illegal in their practices. I was offered a 2-year gym membership when signing the lease and didn't receive it (or my copy of the lease) until I had been living here for over 2 months and several phone calls and emails. I literally had to fight for them. They had just hoped that I'd forgotten somehow and tried to pretend we never agreed on it EVEN THOUGH IT IS IN MY LEASE. Recently, they tried to bill me $27 for utilities and a city fee until I emailed saying that that fee had been charged to my account the month before (without proper notification mind you) and that I have paid all my own utilities since I've lived here and have all the statements to prove it. They quickly dropped that one. SCAM. I would NEVER recommend this place to any friend. Never. There are sooooo many other places to live in the city. Don't waste your time here. I have lived at Le Cove apartment building in Santa Monica for about 13 years and I have experienced some very shady and down right abusive property managers in my tenure. That has changed since the arrival of Irene & Jorge (JR). They honestly care about the tenants and go above, and beyond what you would expect from a on-site property manager. They are kind, and courteous, very respectful, and trust-worthy! I have a cat and have never let previous managers into my apt without me being there until now. They do an excellent job at taking care of the building (which is NOT an easy task considering the age of the building and what they have to work with.) They are very professional, and have done many nice updates to make the facade of the building look more modern. Irene & JR have made living in this building a pleasure for me. Wilshire Skyline has dramatically improved their business by having these two as property managers. Le Cove apartment building has 1st class management now. Upsetting experience/ Terrible Customer Service/ Response. Renters beware and get insurance if you have valuables... I really feel taken advantage of having used Wilshire Skyline. I paid a premium for what I can say is the worst rental company I've ever used! I felt that I had no privacy and I did have a piece of jewelry stolen (and a police report issued) during my tenancy. Apart from a year of having service issues ignored, the building manager say "I'm busy and don't work past 5pm" even in the event of a water emergency, when I moved out repair men did enter my apartment without any verbal or written warning (they thought they were painting and got the dates wrong) and I was in the midst of showering for work. It made me feel extremely unsafe that various sub-contractors had full access to my apartment, and my belongings. Moreover, I had to report a stolen item from my apartment that occurred during a time when I was out of town for work for 3 days (mid-week) and came home to a missing ring that had been passed down from my great grandmother. Lesson learned about renters insurance, and renting from this company in the future. read more

For almost 2 years I've lived at the Nirvana building, run by Wilshire Skyline. The last 5 months of my time there became something of a nightmare for me. I had to suddenly uproot from one apartment to another, because heat and water pipes were leaking under my floor. It could have been an easy transition, except for the fact that I somehow got under the skin of the on-site apartment manager. I later found out that almost every tenant has a similar story about the manager. "In the beginning, she is cool. But once there is a misunderstanding, no matter how big or small, she turns vindictive.". Suddenly, it seemed like everything I did became an issue. Stayed at the Nirvana for about 3 months from August to October. No major complaints about the building. It was well kept and the location was never really too loud. The only reason I left is due to lack of parking. The only place where I had a few issues was with the management company. Sometimes emails would be responded to promptly. Other times it would be radio silence for a week and I would have to call (and hope to get an answer) or send more emails. Currently I moved out 8 days ago. I was told I would have my security deposit back after 3-5 business days. I moved out on a weekend. It has been an entire 5 business day week as well as today, so 6 days and I have not gotten a response. I attempted to call the phone number which went to a full voice mail. I sent a follow up email to two people at Wilshire Skylines and have not yet gotten a response. Because my stay at the building was good otherwise I will be willing to revise my review once this situation is remedied, but it is not cool to hold on to peoples money with no communication of when I can pick it up. I was given the 3-5 day figure before I moved out and was told I would either have to pick up a check or have it mailed to me (despite me paying through an online ACH payment). I would have been willing to stay with them if I could have gotten a spot in a nearby building, but it was full. I also had trouble getting a timely response on availability of a spot and parking in one of those buildings (I have email timestamps and everything to corroborate my statements). read more

If it were possible to give negative stars I would. I moved into the Nirvana in Hollywood June of 2013. The Nirvana itself is fantastic, of course it needs major fixes, but since it is a historical landmark I'm willing to look over it. My apartment was a dream architecturally, complete with an exposed brick wall, huge kitchen and the most amazing original deep tub. Aesthetically, it was extremely lacking. When I first looked at the apartment the tenant had just moved out and the place had not been cleaned, holes filled, or painted. I moved in shortly after and to my horror found little improvement. No holes had been filled and there were, no exaggeration, hundreds of nail holes left. Ironically enough, the lease states we are charged $8 for every hole not filled in. I was also asked when I moved out to fill in the holes - shouldn't I have been paid then $8/hole to fill in the existing holes? We'll cover that again later. In addition, there were still nails and push pins in the wall. The place clearly had not been newly painted let alone even dusted. There was a layer of dust and dirt covering the walls, baseboards and corners. Don't even get me started on the shape of the ceiling fans. This isn't even the worst part, the kitchen had never been sanitized. The walls by the oven were grease stained and grimy. The cupboards hadn't been wiped down and the floor was filthy. The worst part - finding a toenail. I do want to go on record stating I am an extremely clean person and I acknowledge that my cleanliness expectations my be slightly elevated; however when moving into a new place I do expect that housing company to hire professional cleaners to deep clean and sanitize the unit. I really don't think that is too much to expect or demand. After I spent $150 on cleaning supplies and detailing the place I took a look at my feet and they were BLACK! They hadn't even cleaned the floors!! They were past merely swiffering at this point, I went out and bough oil soap and a microfiber mop. It took two full bottles to no longer have black feet. On top of all of this my refrigerator was broken and it took them over three days to replace it. I sent an email to the owners and the offered to refund me $75 (the amount they pay a cleaning crew). Who pays a cleaning crew only $75 to deep clean an apartment unit? I will say, living there was great, minus the electricity going out in my bathroom and Wilshire Skyline being unable to fix it for three weeks. The manager on site was fantastic and helpful. I was sad to leave because after all the missteps I had a pleasant experience. Unfortunately, what happened after my move-out has tainted all positivity I held for this company. As it stands now my damage deposit is 11 days late. I contacted Wilshire Skyline at the 30 day mark because I was told it takes 30 days. Silly me, legally they have 21 days to supply the damage deposit. I contacted them two days ago and they told me it had been applied to June's rent (I moved out a month early with written permission due to the closure of the company I worked for). I informed the woman that I moved out the end of May and have the written confirmation from the owner of this approval as well as the written proof I would still be eligible for my full refund. I forwarded her the emails and asked for a confirmation. I received nothing. Yesterday I sent an additional email following up on the status of the security deposit, nothing. Today I sent an email re-stating the law and mentioning Subsection (i) which entitles me to double my security deposit as part of the "bad-faith retention." This garnered a response of "I will look into it." Needless to say I will be taking legal action. I wish I had more positive to say. I loved the apartment building, but the owners and operations are beyond horrible and unprofessional. They are going to run that place into the ground. It could be amazing, but they have no idea how to successfully run a business and are doing it cheaply and it shows. read more

Unprofessional and rude are the best compliments I can come up with for this company. I would like to share my story to illustrate their incompetence and hopefully help other potential tenants avoid ever dealing with this company. To start, they advertised the available move-in date as Nov. 1. When we went to see the apartment, we loved the look of the place and put a deposit down immediately. Several days later when we went in to sign the lease they changed the date on us to the 3rd because they needed a few days to repaint etc. Mmmm ok fine. Then 10 minutes later they changed their date AGAIN to the 13th, forcing us to fight tooth and nail to get any confirmed move in date earlier than the 13th. In the end, we only were given 3 days notice of the date the apt would be available for us to move in. But this is just a taste of their management abilities.... Then while signing the lease we noticed they did not list the refrigerator on the lease. We questioned them on this, and they said they weren't sure if it was included ( how do you not KNOW?) - to which we asked if they could conclusively check. They did, and about 10minutes later got back to us saying "Good news! it was included." Bad news - we took them at their word and didn't get that in writing. Which brings us to their next flip-flop: they emailed us 3 days after signing the lease informing us that, "oops! fridge is not included, sorry." Mmmm. We called them immediately and they point blank denied ever saying it was included. In fact, they went so far as to call me a liar to my face and "good luck in small claims court." Then hung up on me. My advice mirrors the other yelp users here, and I wish I could have gone back and read their reviews before getting stuck with a management company that conducts business in a childish and unethical manner. read more

I recently moved out of a Wilshire Skyline property in Beverly Hills and it was anything but the experience it claimed to be. After troubles with noisy neighbors, smokers in the "smoke-free" building and several issues with the actual apartment, I learned that the management is absolutely terrible. I don't know how this company remains in business: they're crooked, the building wasn't up to code, and with the exception of the very friendly maintenance guy, Andrew, all rude. It's like they're running a backward business out of someone's basement. What's more, I left the apartment in its original condition and they only returned half of my deposit!! I have had a amazing experience with this company! Everyone who has attended to me has done so with such professionalism and kindness. Their properties are kept clean and they really care about the experience of the tenant. Their units already come beautifully furnished and you can tell all the details are thought down to the sponges. This is really helpful for longer term travelers or anyone who doesn't want to do the work of hiring a designer to furnish your place, they already have known designers that did! All you have to do is bring your toothbrush ( and clothes lol) . They work hard at providing that conceirge lifestyle with events on site and pastries in the moning. You would think this is a boutique hotel but it's not- you can live there! I heard they are working on a new building with a peleton bike and mirror trainer - count me in! read more

I haven't had a perfect experience with Wilshire Skyline, but I'm writing this review to give our new building manager, Joana, a shoutout. She took over 7513 Fountain Ave a few weeks ago. I moved in March 1 (about two months before she arrived) and had experienced a few annoying issues from the start. My shower water faucet broke and it took more than two weeks to get a repair. During this time, I wasn't able to shower properly (water wouldn't get hot, and nearly impossible to shut off). Then, my refrigerator stopped working. This lead to the broken fridge being left in my bachelor apartment (small space) with an additional larger fridge moved in until a new one could be ordered. So I had two fridges for over five weeks in my home, with no communication from management on solutions. I wasn't given the option to write a work order, and every time I called to have it resolved, I was given vague answers. Joana arrived as the new building manager when I was extremely frustrated and desperate for a solution. I had family coming into town and desperately needed to order furniture for my new home, but had no space for it with this oversized, second fridge. I called Joana on her first day on the job, and she immediately helped me. Within a week, I had a new fridge and the old one removed. It seems like a simple issue, and it was. But Joana's commitment to helping resolve it really made me feel valued as a new tenant. I appreciate her work ethic and would now recommend anyone to apply for this location to rent. It's got incredible tenants, most of them long term, plus a capable management staff. Thanks Joana!! read more

I've been a tenant here for almost a year and would say that my experience has been very positive. My neighbors are all friendly and there's been no noise complaints. My apartment is pretty spacious, with enough storage and a washer and dryer. The building manager was prompt when the dryer stopped working, and it was fixed the next day. I would advise against renting from Wilshire Skyline. They manage building all over LA and Santa Monica. There is a Santa Monica building on 3rd and Idaho (937 3rd St., Santa Monica, CA) that is particularly poorly managed. It looks nice at first, but it is populated with many grouchy elderly people. The garage is not well maintained, and the door often breaks down, leading to thefts. Also, do not accept the word of the management--get everything in writing!!! They will try to back out of stuff, such as offering certain appliances unless it is specifically in the lease. They have no problem calling you a liar! My apartment was also next to a nursing home--not ideal, so many ambulances coming by at all hours in the night. I could not wait for the 1 year to be over, so I could move a few miles away and pay less for a bigger, nice place. BTW, I was paying $1700 for my apartment in 2011-2012. read more

Wilshire Skyline has good on-site managers but their main management office is horrible. I lived in one of their apartments for one year and was deducted for a repainting cost from my security deposit. There was no mention of the need to repaint at the move-out inspection. I even took photos of the paint conditions when I vacated the apartment. I had to call and email several times just to get a paint invoice to see that the unit was indeed repainted. When asked why I was responsible for the repaint cost, I did not get a response at all. The tenants should not have to pay for damages that they did not incur. They can't even tell me what the paint damages were? I would never conduct business with this management company again and recommends that others stay away. read more

Deceptive, unethical slumlords. I cannot caution you strongly enough to NOT rent from these people. They will tell you anything you want to hear to get you to sign a lease, while knowing that they have no intentions of providing what they are promising. It is my experience that they have lied about something o everyone whom I personally have spoken with, that they have down business with - approximately 20 to 25 people. They have not complied with city ordered repairers at times, and will tell prospective tenants that the heating and a/c works, when they know it does not - that they will have a parking spot in the garage, when they know the garage is full and they have no more spots, that it is a secure building, when they give out the entry code to complete strangers who want to look at an apartment (because they are too lazy to meet them there and let them in securely). I can go on, and on. This includes their managers - especially at 1944 Whitley and formerly 1936 Whitley. They have since sold 1936 Whitley, which is now being run by a much better owner and management company. Do NOT enter into an agreement with these people. Their word and contracts mean nothing to them - and if they owe you money you will have to go to court to get it from them. read more

PLEASE PLEASE do yourself a favor and do not rent from any of their apts. We moved from out of state to the Nirvana on 1775 North Orange. The Manager lied not once to our faces but everytime we dealt with her. Her lies were parking," no problem". Huge lie. They did not allow dogs. I heard non stop barking from the dog upstairs. Asked about noise. Nonstop noise from everywhere. Asked about roaches. Roaches everywhere 3 to 4 a day in the kitchen, on the bed, bathroom, everywhere. All of that aside they would not fix the heat. We had no working heat almost the whole time we were there. They fixed it half assly the last month we were there. The utilities are done through them. So we were paying 110. a month for elec and gas. No matter what!!! we were gone for weeks at a time and the amount for the utilities always stayed the same. IT WAS A NIGHTMARE I just wanted to walk away find a new place and put the last year behind me. My deposit was 700 dollars short of the 1600 I had coming. I talked to lawyers and it comes down to this. THEY KNOW EXACTLY HOW MUCH MONEY THEY CAN TAKE AND NOT HAVE TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. 700 IS NOT ENOUGH FOR LAWYERS TO TAKE A CASE LIKE THIS. I promise that they do this to every renter. I also was told that small claims court was not a good idea. They can appeal and then come back with a lawyer. Do not rent from this company. They are not interested in the needs of their tenants AT ALL. I have good credit, pay my rent on time, and am a respectable tenant. I have never been treated this poorly by a leasing company. They refused to make repairs, I had to threaten to go to court in order to get them to fix the windows in my apartment that wouldn't close. Even then they did it begrudgingly. They make everything a hassle and treat you like dirt. I never write reviews on yelp but I would like to save anyone from the hassle that I have gone through. Wilshire skyline apartments is one of the worst managed buildings ive ever lived in. Three Months in they changed managers and immediately took all privileges that attracted me to the building in the first place. This was a dog building with a common area in the back where residents can sit, smoke, or play with their dogs. They now have outlawed all smoking on premises(even tho it was far away from residents) as well as the option to let your pet play in common previous "DOG AREA". Two thumbs down for poor management as well as little or no response to problems with maintenance. Not to mention the parking is a nightmare, street parking only and with nothing but meter parking elsewhere, be prepared for lots of tickets. DO NOT MOVE TO 2025 ARGYLE. The manager Angelica is a nightmare with no solutions only new rules. GET ME OUT!!! read more
