Wimpy's is a staple along the Delta in Walnut Grove. Its marine store and diesel station being the primary drive, Wimpy's restaurant/pub offers affordable American food at a a decent quality with good service. The elevated restaurant offers superb views of the Delta and a great ambiance while eating. Wimpy's offers a variety of food but ultimately it is hit or miss. Can't go wrong with classics like club sandwich but some of the 'high end' options strike out. If you are in the area Wimpy's offers good food at a good price. read more

People who comment on the time warp design just don't get it about the Delta. This is history you're walking into where the late, very famous author, Earle Stanley Gardner, used to hang out when he was house boating in the Delta. Just slow down when you come to the bridge and make a 90 degree angle turn soon as you get over the bridge to have a Delta boating experience even when you come by car. Although they are famous for their hamburgers and other fare, the last time I enjoyed a shrimp salad. Food quality is a little bleh and bland. They work with what they got though so I can't argue much with it. Always presented nicely. Location is awesome and has made it a tradition in my family now. Inside is old school and cute. They decorate for holidays which I thought was adorable. The water here I received tasted really bad. We are out in the sticks next to a swampy little river so I'm sure they are on well or old water system but they definitely need to switch over to bottled water. read more

Sunday afternoon. Big group of ladies takes over the Wimpy's bar to celebrate a 40th bday. Their reaction? Smiles and GREAT service! TASTY, savory, spicy BACON BLOODY MARYS...yummy apps. The fried green beans looks unassuming, the calamari looks like onion rings...but then... you put them in your mouth and WHAT?! WHAT?! Flavor. Awe. Some. Flavor. After wine tasting we were looking for a place to eat a late lunch. We stumbled on Wimpy's and had a great meal. The bay shrimp in my salad were fresh as were the salad veggies. The guys had fish and chips and rated them among the best ever. The service was great. As we sat and ate we realized we had been there years ago and were glad we returned! read more

This review is more about DeeDee, the bartender at the outside bar. We have launched from Wimpy's more than a few times. Quick & easy - just don't plan on gassing up $5.25 a gallon? Fuel is expensive on the water, but come on. We were out playing & decided to stop for a beverage. The outside bar is not stocked as well as upstairs, but DeeDee makes a great margarita & has a fabulous, upbeat personality. And sitting out right on the water is also good. read more

Saturday afternoon my sister and I along with another friend enjoyed a fabulous early dinner here. Upon arriving we were informed of the recent change of ownership and met the new owner and chef. She was very welcoming, and friendly. The new renovations taking place were quite nice and I suspect that once it's completed, it will be a very charming and beautiful location to spend time during the summer. We ordered the prime rib and the chicken fettuccini and it was simply delicious. We will definitely be returning for the food and the live entertainment later in the season. Wimpy's is a must stop for my family while boating on the Delta. Grew up going there with my parents 30 years ago and still enjoy it today with my kids. Place is a little old, but the food is fantastic. Some of the best fish n chips I've ever had. We made 2 stops this year and had great food and service both times. read more

This family run diner is solid for simple, country food. The food is fresh, the service friendly, the crowd is ...colorful. Good place to stop for a beer and a burger, or coffee and a large breakfast. Prime-Rib served on saturdays, bring your loose pants. read more

Best prime rib I have eaten in a long time. Saturday nite only. Meat came medium rare as ordered & well seasoned so very flavorful. Ordered a side dinner salad which was very good with variety of veggies. Side green salad is just lettuce. Could have had more fresh steamed veggie that came with meal. Choice of potatoes. Homemade berry pie was very tasty along w/ scoop of vanilla ice cream. First come first serve so best to arrive early. We arrived by 430 & ordered a cocktail. Meal service started at 5 pm. We were in the area bird watching and came across Wimpy's. While external appearances may not be the most inviting all the breakfast choices we had were excellent and the service was great. Plus I discovered I had stupidly left my credit card behind after we arrived home i San Francisco. Called Wimpy's....no sweat...they kindly put the card in the next post . First off im not into shameing places at all and give credit when do but this is the third time I have been here with in a four month peroid and must say that the crappy service hadnt change not one bit not only did our food come out ice cold and way under cooked and I cought the cook eating french fries off my wifes plate when I had to get up to ask where our meal was because no server was insight and the bar was to loud to also get the bar tenders attention for service as well even tho there was only 2 people in there at that time.when I finally received some service I had asked if the cook normally does this with other customers to my surprise the server said yes more times then I can imagine.i was like wow I couldnt belive she had told me this so before the food was served we just got up and left because we both felt descusted after that like for real who does that and that was just one experience and the two others were just as bad if not worse then that experence.one of the other times involved both bathrooms flooded and they were serving our water in bottels and charged the group I was with in the bar that night way to much when it should have been free for us it not our falt your water is no good all night they kept telling people not to drink the water. really needless to say im not gonna waste any more of my hard earned cash on a place who dosent value there customers the way they should sad we were looking for a new hang to ooh well guess well keep looking then any suggestions within that area anybody?? read more
