I had a difficult time deciding the ranking on this one. I don't know if this should influence the review or not, but the directions to this place are absolutely wring. We had a nearly impossible time finding this restaurant. I don't know who to fault for it, but it was not a good start to the evening driving around for an hour trying to figure it out. Upon arriving, I noticed that the view was pretty great. The restaurant is backed by the delta which is really nice when the sun is setting and there is a nice breeze. So the uniqueness and view was a great change from your normal spot, but I just had a few minor issues. First, the interior could use some updating and some cleaning. The windows were super dirty with like bugs and spider webs and what not which aren't a good combination for a restaurant in my opinion. I had the prime rib special which was ok. The mashed potatoes and vegetables were not very good, but the prime rib was decent. What I know for sure is that I would not pay $50+ for the meal we had again. Was it ok? Yeah I guess it was ok, but just had some flaws. Oh yeah, and good luck if you have to use the bathroom because your knees will touch the door when you close it and no points for bathroom cleanliness here. So yeah, just kind of blah. read more

We were surprised by how below average our meal was in terms of quality and presentation. The wait was really long about 40 mins for our food to arrive.Our server was nice and did keep us posted that our meal was on its way.. We were waiting with 2 other tables. But overall service was lacking.The photos submitted by others doesnot portray that this restaurant is a really old restaurant by the slough with food that was terrible with a long hair in it. There is a small bar in the back. We were looking for a place to enjoy a meal out in the delta. Our bill was 52.00 for a burger, salad, soup and chili and two beverages. Some of the other reviews mentioned how wonderful their meal was. We didnot enjoy our visit and cannot recommend to anyone looking for a place in Walnut Grove to have lunch. read more

We came when it was super slow, maybe two other small groups each group less than 4 people. Despite it being so slow we waited well over an hour it's a group of 6 and we all ordered simple food burgers and a couple sandwiches. We got there at 8, ordered at 8:15 and the food didn't arrive till 9:20 so we had to take it to go. Also The sodas were 75% ice and tasted watered down. Yummy! I love the food at Wimpy's! I'm never disappointed whether I'm eating breakfast, lunch, or dinner. I'm lucky because I live right next door at New Hope Landing! The food at Wimpy's is always fresh and hot, the portions are generous, and the meal is served in a timely manner. I love the variety on Wimpy's menu. Whatever I'm hungry for, Wimpy's always satisfies. The service is excellent, the entire Wimpy's staff is awesome, treating me like family, practically treating me like royalty at times! The atmosphere at Wimpy's is so inviting and cozy, it feels like a diner, a little fisherman's grotto, a neighborhood tavern, and a family style restaurant all rolled into one! At Wimpy's, the specials are to die for, including the prices! My favorites are Man Cave Monday and Taco Tuesday! Yummy! When the weather warms up out here on the Delta, the party starts at Wimpy's! The live music on the weekends is so fun! Sunday night Karaoke is a blast! I can honestly say that Wimpy's is my favorite place to eat, drink, or just chill out and take in the spectacular river views with friends, or even by myself! Love this place. We walked in as a party of 11 and were seated immediately. Food didn't take long to come out either. My onion burger was DELICIOUS. I definitely recommend it. Prices aren't bad either and the staff is super friendly. You can sit upstairs inside or downstairs on the deck next to the river. read more

The Sunday brunch buffet is a hidden gem. Mimosa was included and the food was exceptional. Especially for buffet food. This is not your ordinary brunch. There were southern comforts like I've never experienced. Some of our favorites were Turkey "ribs" in a fresh made pineapple barbecue sauce, real eggs Benedict, insanely good Mac and cheese, sautéed spinach and omg the desserts and FRESH whipped cream. Only thing missing was I would've loved a some fresh fruit. So first off, they're not in Walnut Grove. After getting lost, we called the restaurant and they hung on the phone to direct us. When we pulled up, a few of the staff greeted us with a big thumbs up, which was awesome. So if you get lost, call! Second, the food was fantastic. I had prime rib and my husband had chicken fried steak. Both were cooked and seasoned perfectly. We split a chocolate milkshake that was to die for. Wimpy's may not look too appealing from the outside or as your driving up to it or docking, but there is a big selection of food, reasonably priced, theres a fully stocked bar on one side and the outdated design/interior adds character to the place! food tastes good after a long day in the sun it hits the spot!! cant complain its convenient and you can park boat along the water! the waitress was patient and informative and food came out pretty quick! the bathrooms were clean. i def would return. read more

Past experience was bad with EXTREMELY slow service. However went to a wedding this last weekend and the staff was amazing. Had to move the event inside at the last day and the staff could not have been more helpful. A taco bar was the choice for the event and it was terriffic. Homemade tortillas and chips. A-ok, cuz the hubs can get the prime rib he craves for a reasonable price. Meh for me because a non-meat eater has few options. Yes, there's chicken but mine, served cold with a sprinkling of cheese on top and a bit of marinara. This was called chicken Parmesan? I asked ahead if this selection was a frozen entree or fresh prepared, I was assured everything is fresh. I tend to disagree. But folks, let's remember, this is the Delta and Wimpy's, definitely a dive in the real sense of the word. There's an accordion vinyl door separating the very active and lively bar from the dining room; not a large enough buffer zone and might as well be in the very same room. We arrived a bit after 7pm and not a soul in the dining room but the bar; standing room only. In the middle of our meal the 70's Rock & Roll Karaoke came out; not a good ear in the bunch. I'm attributing the lull in the dining room to the pounding rain and thunder outside. Had we come a bit earlier, it may have been less noisy in the bar. Don't get me wrong, I love Wimpy's but if you're looking to have anything other than the prime rib (served Saturday nite's only),burger & fries, or a country breakfast, you may be disappointed. read more

This is great boat ride from Stockton. The waitresses are very friendly and attentive. The restaurant is dated in the decor, but it is very clean. The green beans are yummy!! The prime rib dinner was a little pricey and it had the flavor and consistency of pot roast. There is a bit of a strong current when docking the boat, be careful when tying your boat off to the cleats! You don't want your vessel floating away while you are enjoying a great Bloody Mary and yummy green beans. I will be back many times this year as the boating season begins! read more

Over priced for frozen then deep fryed food, I eat here a couple times a month Only because it's the only place around for 10 miles so if I don't have time to make breakfast I'll get a order to go. There gravey, canned, there chili canned, hash browns frozen. There way over priced and the food is barely eddible, portions are small and staff is rude. It's a marina restaurant, and it really doesn't look like much. But wait, there's more! Try their cheeseburgers, they have enough artery hardening awesomeness to keep you coming back. The chicken basket and fries are really good. Any cocktail you might want the bar will deliver. We hit this place a least once a month during our motorcycle rides through the Delta area. The Harley Group took a ride out here for lunch from the peninsula. It was a trek out here. Boy this place is out in the middle of nowhere. The exterior of this restaurant would definitely make you think twice of going in, but don't be fooled. Although the inside isn't a five star restaurant, the food was pretty good. It's a very run down restaurant. While we were there we didn't see any boats come in but it sounds like boats dock and launch right there next to the restaurant. There were a couple of tables with people and we were the largest group, of about 18. Service: The waitress was very attentive and she was nice enough to separate out all our checks for each individual. There was only one cook so the food was a tad slow coming out but it wasn't super slow either. We pretty much got our food about the same time. The waitress apologized for the wait on the food. Not sure if they get packed during certain seasons. Food: Best described, diner food. They had everything from sandwiches / seafood / hamburger / breakfast. I had the fish and chips and I do have to say they were pretty good. It wasn't greasy at all or over battered. The French fries were ok, nothing special. Some of the people had hamburgers and they said it was pretty good. Some had breakfast and didn't get a chance to ask what their thoughts were on the breakfast. I'm sure it was decent. Husband and I checking out the Delta today for fishing prospects. Stopped at Wimpys for a quick bite. We both ordered their fish and chips. The fish was so fresh and tasty altho' a little on the greasy side. Three smallish pieces plus so-so fries for $9.99. We both loved the fish. Very nice, friendly wait staff. Lots of outdoor seating next to the river. Old and weathered but sturdy and clean, which is part if it's charm! Definitely worth the drive. read more

I once agreed with the reviews that folks have posted about Wimpys and recommended them to others. My family and friends have frequented this restaurant/bar over the past 15 years. NO MORE. New ownership not up to snuff. The customer service and the COOKING are pathetic compared to what it once was. You might want to give these new owners 6 months to a year to get their shit together because I guarantee you; at this point in time, you'll be disappointed. read more
