Sub-par food; Infinitely worse service My extended family and I ended up at Winberries for brunch as other local places had been closed for private events. Ie, it was not our intention to eat there, but it became a matter of convenience. We were 4 adults and 3 children, and were given a price of $43 per adult and $30 per child for the brunch buffet upon entering. Both my husband and I had recalled the food at Winberries not being the best, and were reluctant, however the family was hungry so we gave it a second try. Definitely a mistake. This is not the reason for my review, but the food was not good at all: stale muffins (more than one type were stale, experienced by two people at my table), very salty general tso's style chicken which was not actually meant to be an Asian dish, decent frittata, dried out pancakes, unsanitary looking mashed potatoes, commissary desserts (which were ok, but I presume they were made elsewhere) etc. There were enough options to suit a variety of tastes and dietary needs, but simply not great quality. However, we decided to share our experience due to the staff. In very poor judgement we were billed us as 6 adults and 1 child. My children are in 8th, 6th and 3rd grades. No one is close to being an adult. After requesting more information and politely asking for the bill to updated, we were told that only kids under 10 are charged as children . It would have been pertinent to tell us that at the door when we asked about the pricing. However, I would have thought that making a $13-26 adjustment for 1-2 of my kids would simply be obliged. Unfortunately our waiter said he'd need to ask his manager to review our request. We again politely agreed. Surprisingly, rather than than the manager simply agreeing to a $13-26 adjustment since we asked, and already had a large party dining and ordering drinks; she came to our table and asked "What's the problem" which obviously necessitated me to have to rehash my point of view when she clearly already had the information. This made an unnecessary moment even more unpleasant, now for every person at my table. It was senseless. Amazingly, she still insisted on charging our 8th grader as an adult after being told he was 13. I believe this decision was made mostly because the restaurant was nearly empty. She did agree to charge my 6th grader as a child, but made it seem as if she was doing me a favor, even after I told her he barely ate (he had lunch with teammates just prior). I dont recall ever having to knit pick a restaurant tab, which is out of character for my family. We are generous people and good tippers when dining out and I believe also gracious and polite guests; save my CHILDREN that at times might be louder than needed, because they are actually kids in elementary and middle school; and not adults. This restaurants insistence on charging us $26 more in the name of making a sale and horrible judgement and demeanor in customer service was egregious and uncomfortable. We hope others read it and make a much better decision for their lunch plans. Please don't even consider Winberries for dinner. read more

I had dinner here the other week and found the fare pretty 'run of the mill'. I ordered the Fish; Shrimp platter and asked if the filets were of good size. They were about 3/4" thick (minimal) but unfortunately weren't sized to my liking (length and width). In my opinion the two filets when combined equaled about 1.25 filets in other places. The fried shrimps were good but were not 'talk of the town'. My wife had the Chicken Schnitzel and ended up returning that because it was hard and dry (ie over-cooked) and the salad on top had meager (if any) dressing. *I will try to give this establishment another try, but will stick to 'Standard American' fare (A Hamburger) before I set myself to a final opinion. read more

Also, waitresses could be a little more attentive. Customers (especially sitting outside) should not be left without water to start and water re-fills for 15+ minutes. Unfortunately, I've had a string of fairly mediocre meals over the past couple weeks. This one was no exception. The server was fine, but not very attentive, as there were no offers for refills of water or other fountain drinks. The baked Brie appetizer was tasty. The rest of the food was average. If the steak tacos had 4 ounces of skirt steak, I would be surprised. And they were fairly tasteless. The spinach risotto was almost like Minute Rice, mixed with cream. Definitely was not arborio rice. The chicken and waffles are listed as coming with hot honey, but that simply means that the honey is warmed up, it is not the hot honey that has become all the rage lately my companion was expecting. My niece took me to Winberies today for Mothers Day brunch. As we arrived we were welcomed by beautiful roses. After we were seated, Alex promptly came over to say "hello" and explain the brunch buffet. After a delicious mimosa and Bloody Mary we headed to the scrumptious buffet. So many options, so many trips back in line. The prime rib, chicken piccata, the shrimp, the salmon all the sides were exquisite. Two members of the management staff stopped over to ask how our morning and brunch were. The only name I can remember was David. The staff were friendly and helpful. My family and I visited on a very quiet Sunday evening. We had reservations but I don't think we needed them. We were seated in the back section of the restaurant against the wall. Not the best spot since we heard very loud discussions in the kitchen area and sometimes arguments. Very distracting. We began our meal with the Jersey Tomatoes. Beautifully sliced red tomatoes with herbs and a vinaigrette dressing. Tasty but 4 slices for $14. A bit on the high side. We waited about 20-25 minutes for our appetizer to come out. We asked to substitute the blue cheese for feta cheese on the order but the blue cheese still came out. Did we send it back? No. We had waited long enough already. Our table ordered the Grill planked salmon, the swordfish special, and the short rib fettuccini. My daughter enjoyed her salmon but added the mashed potatoes that came with it were bland. She's a big mashed potato fan and chose not to eat them. My wife loved her swordfish dish. Portion was generous and the salad that came with it was very tasty. The short rib pasta was delicious. Portion was generous. Service was a bit slow at times but friendly. Prices were competitive for the area. There was plenty of parking but no private lot. I think this place was picked because there's an extensive gluten free menu. Don't get excited. I ordered a gluten free salad, it came out with crumbled wontons. I was skeptical so I asked the waiter and he said it was gluten free but as a courtesy he would double check, which he forgot to. Eventually they realized I was brought the regular not the gluten free version. The replacement was brought out ... ever had a tamari/soy sauce flavored salad? The dressing was inedibly bad which is ridiculous because it's so easy to find gluten free dressing ingredients. I also ordered a cocktail. Just be warned they make old fashioneds with gin here. This was my fault for not reading carefully. The staff was very nice but I still won't go back, serving me a gluten salad and insisting it's safe when it's not violates my trust. The kids meals were meager, there were so few fries it didn't even make a pile and the burger meat was slider sized, not even big enough for my seven year old. Just lame. read more

What a hidden gem in Summit. I tried out this restaurant for brunch on the weekend and it was great! I made a reservation via Yelp just incase. They had outdoor seating as well as a large indoor seating area. The food was super tasty loved all the brunch options. Our server was super friendly! All the staff was super hard working and really made our experience enjoyable. The manager even came out to apologize that the food was taking long (which was totally understandable since they were so busy!) but that was such a great gesture from the staff. I would highly recommend this place if you are in Summit and we will be back to try all the other things on the menu!! read more

My beer on tap could have been a little colder but the others liked their drinks. The Cobb salad was a good typical cobb, mushroom risotto was rich & flavorful, salmon on plank was the best dish with the salmon perfectly prepared, and I loved the salad on the chicken schnitzel. We were looking for a casual place to eat and Winberies came up. We were quickly seated and our server started out fantastic. The food was delicious, a little expensive for casual dining (total was about $97) but because the food was tasty we didn't mind. The nestle roll house pie was great. The only reason I was a bit dissatisfied was because after our entrees a large party had come in and our waiter became occupied and we waited over 30 min before he came to check on us so we could get our to go boxes, water refill and then place a dessert order. I understand that it can get hectic once you have to serve a large party so I won't let that diminish the quality of the food or experience, we just had to spend more time than we anticipated. read more

I had pretty decent bar service here for the happy hour on a Friday, 3:30 - 5:30 pm. They have multiple martini's, margarita cocktails for around 8 bucks. Draft beers a couple bucks off each. Different appetizers available at happy hour prices. Otherwise, the main dinner menu looked good. I had the honey mustard chicken sandwich (with the french fries) for $17. It was very good. Mother's Day. Our reservation was at 5pm and At 4:51 we get a text saying they're running an hour late and can't seat us until 6:00. So we finally get seated and at 6 PM all the people they texted to come an hour later arrived and the same thing repeated itself. To make up for it though, my cocktail was triple strength! The food was really fantastic! Generous sized portions. The pan seared scallops melted in your mouth, served on a bed of asparagus risotto; hanger steak was so tender it could be cut with a fork. Winberie's is a nice dinner spot on the edge of Summit Center. I ordered the cedar planked salmon, which true to its name is served on a cedar plank! The salmon comes with a lemon butter sauce which was to die for! It also comes with vegetables which tasted great with the sauce. I substituted the mashed potatoes for french fries, which were a little salty but were still enjoyable. I would definitely come back to Winberie's if I am in the area. The Easter brunch was extremely mediocre but very overpriced ($68pp before gratuity). The food selection left a lot to be desired - the breakfast section could have easily been mistaken for continental breakfast at a budget hotel. No omelette station, the fruit options were a bowl of melon (cheapo) along with some yogurt parfaits with about 2 berries on top, and the "waffle bar" was a few berries and chocolate chips to put on top of the slices that had hardened from sitting in the warming tray for too long. Same story for the very dry "chicken picata" that had virtually no sauce or capers. The other few lunch selections were similarly uninspiring. The carving station was perhaps the bright spot in the meal. All the staff were all very friendly and attentive, so I have to chalk it up to poor management. My wife and I used to drive to Summit on dates before we were married. We drove out here from Jersey City because our senior prom was held at the, then, Hotel Suburban. We passed this building on the way and back then it was called The New Hampshire a House. Once, on one of our visits, we stopped in for dinner. I don't recall the meal but I recall that the space was cool. So, today when my friend suggested we eat lunch here since he had seen it on Food TV, I said yes. And, I'm glad I did. The interior is warm and inviting and the wait staff attentive and helpful. Looking over the menu, I found several tempting items and was torn between the coconut shrimp (a lunch special) and the London broil with mashed and veggies. Our very personable waitress was questioned as to which she would recommend and she gave the beef the nod over the shrimp. My friend had a mushroom dish over pasta. When I balked over the veggies (carrots and string beans) the waitress offered double mash... I really like that kind of service. The London broil was cooked exactly as requested, the double mounds of real potatoes, moist and well seasoned. Both portions, generous - more dinner sized than lunch. My friend dug into his meal and pronounced it delicious. High praise from a genuine foodie. The waitress offered us a small bread basket that came with a cup of fresh soft butter. The French bread was remarkably good - a real surprise - and served warm. Since my friend was treating, I'm unsure of the total bill but it wasn't cheap. I think my meal was $16 plus a couple of bucks for a soft drink (free refill). My friend's meal was similarly priced so with tip, I think lunch was in the mid to high $40 range. Kind of high for my budget but, being fair, the price was within line with the portion size and quality. Good food. Professional service. Lovely room. Recommended. read more

Winberie's is on a corner of a street, at the corner of downtown, and has some nice cozy corners on the inside for seating. I pulled myself up to the bar and had a nice craft beer ($2 off for happy hour). I grabbed a Yuengling at 6:29 ($3 for happy hour, the price it should be) and they were willing to wait to pour it even after happy hour ended. Service - 5 stars. Prices for drinks are way too high unless you go during happy hour, when they're fine (especially for Summit), so there's a tip. Also, the Yuengling tasted off/flat. I've had that problem elsewhere and not sure why. I then stayed for dinner so you fine Yelp folks would have something more to read. (No photos on a first date!) I went for the cajun mac and cheese. I thought I saw the word "scallops" in there but there was nothing scallopy about it. Maybe you have to ask? Everything else was there, the noodles were done right, all in all a most satisfactory dish with plenty of meat. Winberie's is one of the fancier restaurants in the town of Summit. I have been here for dinner and last night i discovered the late night happy hour! I think their food is absolutely fantastic, but it is a little pricey. Their service is always great. I've had one of their salmon entrees and it was excellent. Perfectly cooked, i had no complaints. Their dynamite sticks appetizer is a really unique dish. A lot of their menu items have cajun influence and this is a good example. It's a long crispy egg roll filled with andouille sausage, cheese, and other yummy things. Definitely recommend these. Last night I came late with a friend for a drink and some dessert. I got the banana cream pie and it was excellent! It came as it's own mini pie, instead of how it's traditionally served as a messy slice. The crust was the best part,a buttery flakey graham cracker base. I got the apple pie moonshine drink and i was so in love with it. The drink comes in a mason jar with a cinnamon stick and a cinnamon sugar rim. During the late night special it's only $5! I will definitely be taking advantage of their late night happy hour more often. Their food is great and the late night deal helps not to break the bank. read more

We have visited this establishment many times and have never been disappointed. The food and service is always top notch. We gave our daughter a "sprinkle shower"on a Sunday. Again, the food was absolutely excellent, the service we received made everyone feel like royalty. Management was attentive to every detail and super accommodating. Moscow mule sucked....they don't have ginger beer it seems, good news is the make up for it with vodka, so if you wanna get toasted with shitty mules, this is the place. Ordered spinach artichoke dip, meh....average. Cheesy pita chips to dip in creamy cheesy dip, with cooks hair included. Luckily the vodka will cut my blood a bit so I won't need a by pass. Got the Tavern burger...no bacon. Yes it should come with bacon. I mentioned it.....and here come a side plate of bacon....not the same, anyways.....burger was okay.
