What a surprise, I've been driving past this place for years. Finally stopped in for lunch and it's really beautiful inside! 11.17.16 2:00pm Mom & I were doing a little exploring in the 45 minute wait I had until my foot & ankle Dr appointment around the corner. I get a little nerve wrecked before heading to any doctor office so $4.50 Chardonnay actually hit the spot. I pass Winchells almost daily so had no clue of what to expect & a long while ago thought it was a hot dog place lol. Very clean, sports on the TV's, friendly customers, bartender, golf memorabilia & excellent ventilation! We sat at the bar where quite a few people were smoking & did not smell it. Also out of about 15 people, there was only one man, which I thought was pretty cool. I've never been into a video poker playing type of sports bar w/ it not being a sausage party so to speak. I will be back when I have more time & am hungry w/ mom. Cheap wine, inexpensive food, but not totally bad cause I needed it before this appointment. Clean bathrooms & non-smoking restaurant area located outside of the glass enclosed smoking bar. Nice parking lot & located by many businesses. read more

Waited 45 minutes for our food and the place was deader than a door nail. Food was absolutely horrible! Burger was dry and had no flavor, fries were over cooked. My wife had a Cesar salad absolutely horrible no flavor at all. My daughter had a kids grilled cheese with one piece of cheese. Really come on now! What a joke and a half! Never again! read more

We walked into Winchell's wanting to sit at the bar and have dinner. Typical for this area every seat had a video poker machine, and every one had a "reserved" sign in front of it except for the 3 or 4 people already present. We asked if we could sit down, the bartender asked if we were going to play, we said no, so she referred us to sit at a table. Then she was going to squeeze the two of us into a spot (amongst the empty, "reserved" seats", which didn't have a machine, so we turned around and walked out. We're new to this area and looking for a few places to call our "go to's". This will definitely not be one. read more

This Winchell's was our "go to" restaurant when my friends & I worked at Sun City Anthem... we had lunch & dinner a few times a week. Now that I'm not working, I haven't been there for about 2 years (shame on me!) However today my friend & I went there for lunch and I remembered WHY we always went there... the FOOD & SERVICE was great! We both had a Greek salad (she had chicken with it & I had the Gyro meat) & I had a cup of super satisfying clam chowder! They make their soups from scratch & they sure taste like it! I did notice they certainly REMODELED the restaurant & it looked great! They have a separate bar & food is also served there. We don't smoke so we eat in the main restaurant. They had fliers out for their Thanksgiving Dinner for $19 which is a great price plus I know it will be DELICIOUS! Winchell's has excellent sandwiches, hamburgers lunch & dinner specials throughout the week. I will be going back more often to ENJOY one of my favorite local places... I've referred so many friends & customers to Winchell's over the last 20 years! I was so hungry today that I forgot to take a photo of the beautifully prepared Greek salad... so fresh, crisp lettuce, delicious dressing topped off with the Greek Gyro meat that I love! It was SO YUMMY! They are located in the Smith's shopping center on the corner of Horizon Ridge & Eastern. There is PLENTY OF FREE PARKING! Easy in & easy out! They have both table & booth seating. The hostess & servers are very friendly & attentive. Our order came promptly & our server was so nice and professional. If you're shopping in that area, Winchell's is a great place for lunch or dinner! The prices are so reasonable for generous portions of food! Their "Reuben" sandwich tastes like a deli in NY would make...it's one of my favorites! Hope you will try this great local place then you'll know why it's been around for so long!!!! read more

I thought all Winchells would be the same but I found different. At this location, the Corned beef was very fatty, they only gave you three pieces which were cut think but mostly fat you could not eat, potatoes, cabbage and carrots. Overall it was not seasoned so it was a little bland and just ok. Last year this location was a LOT better. The Bartendar, she was somewhat paying attention but when I was done, it did take her close to 15 minutes to come get my money and close out my tab. I will keep this place on my list however at the end of the night I went to another location which for some reason was much better quality and they gave you Irish soda bread with your order which I did not get here???? read more

We find ourselves ordering takeout here a lot lately. We stopped frequenting this location a few years ago because the food was just okay but we returned to find the a new menu and the food is excellent. The staff is great too. Every time we call to place an order they are super nice and patient. Our order is always correct and everything is packaged well. Some of our favorites are "naked" chicken wings, quesadilla, the soups, wraps, chicken greek pita and the salads. The salads are huge always fresh with quality ingredients. read more

As other reviews have noted, the interior has been beautifully remodeled. The food is okay, typical pub food, but the quality of service depends on the server. If it's Cody, great. If not, expect the worst, which I recently experienced. I ordered the chicken Greek pita. What came out 20 minutes later was the Athenian gyro pita with meat (beef or veal). I sent it back and waited another 15 minutes. When the bill finally came, the Athenian gyro was listed -- twice. I was going to be charged for TWO sandwiches until I protested. I am going to give the benefit of the doubt to the server and presume that she was not trying to cheat me to get a bigger tip. Note to Winchell's servers: Look, when you take an order, write it down! Then repeat the order for the customer to confirm it. This is standard operating procedure in any decent restaurant anywhere. If you can't do that, find another job. read more

Well, I met my husband for quiet dinner tonight at Wichell's Pub. We split the appetizer platter, and each had a bowl of their delicious chili. The service was great, the waitress is just a doll, she always remembers us and is very friendly. I guess you could say, we frequent this pub on a regular basis. However, tonight there were 'little' kids dining with their parents and grandparents. To say the least, they thought it was so cute to let this child run around the table being loud and obnoxious. Not one person tried to stop this kid, and put her in her seat. The only time the child briefly took a seat was when the food was served. I don't know about you, but as much as I love kids, I do believe they need to respect others in public, especially in a restaurant environment. Well, after we moved things quieted down a bit, and finally they left. Thank goodness the little darling didn't want desert! Next time they should take the family to Chuck E Cheese, noisy kids are welcomed there. However, the pub is usually an excellent choice, especially when it's time to relax and chill out in a 'kid free' zone. We enjoy the pub atmosphere. It's great to share in the vibe of 'adult' company. The food is usually good, moderately priced, meals & cocktails are served with a smile, and kids are few and far between. We will return, however if there are a bunch of little kids, we are out of there! I find it really hard to enjoy a cocktail with my dinner while out of control kids interfere with the main course. Went here on 12/07/10 with some friends. All in all there were 5 of us crammed into one table in the glass smokey room. Positives: My tortilla soup ($2.50/cup) was off the chain. Open really late. My friend Jen's horrific Thai skewers were taken off the bill. Negatives: -Thai skewers were simply what looked like boiled ripped up chicken covered in Mae Ploy sauce, on 4 skewers, served with peanut butter. Ew. -Everybody was crazy old. The waitress said the people who come in are usually 65+ -Waitress stopped refilling our waters after one refill. -Really random (bad) music. We were there for 3 hours chatting it up, but I don't think I'd go back unless I was with friends. Their soup was good so yeah, 2 stars. read more

I love Winchell's. Just some good ol' fashioned food in a friendly, neighborly atmosphere. I first started eating here because my then, girlfriend (now, wife) worked here when we met. I've never really been impressed with the food that you can get at neighborhood bars around here. It always just seemed like something to keep you busy between drinking and losing all my money on a video poker machine...not anything I would go out of my way for...and certainly not the star of the show. But Winchell's is different. They have food with flavor. Classic delights like calf's liver and onions with bacon, fish & chips, and salisbury steak are done with an unusual finesse and a skilled hand. But I usually go for a late night snack and those dinners are only available from 5pm-11pm. Where Winchell's really shines is their sandwiches and burgers....one particular burger comes to mind: The San Francisco - served on a grilled parmesan-sourdough loaf and loaded with homemade thousand island dressing and swiss (wipe the drool from your mouth...you don't wanna ruin your keyboard). As a matter of fact, you can request that bread on pretty much any sandwich. The Cuvee salad is another favorite: a delicate balance of mixed spring greens, candied walnuts, smoked gouda cheese, apples, grapes and chicken all tossed with a stringent, yet sweet champagne vinaigrette. By the way, all the dressings are housemade. Did I mention that they make their own potato chips too? And that they're delicious! I've tried most things on the menu here and I have not yet been disappointed. The servers, bartenders and bussers are all friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is warm and cozy. This is a diamond amongst the lumps of coal we have scattered throughout the valley. read more

After spending $160 on poker we left because of a loud obnoxious drunk that the bartenders let get out of control and didn't do anything about. I'm giving two stars because our family has been coming here for years with great service. Now all of a sudden everything's changing, breakfast is getting cut short and dinner doesn't start until 5, so there's a period of time when you can only order lunch like items but if you are at the bar you can order whatever whenever. Anyways, I ordered a pasta type meal and the sauce contained butter, so the waiter asked to not include that. At this time (a few hours later) I'm having allergen symptoms and I recalled there was a butter like sauce at the bottom but I assumed it was whatever else was in the sauce without the butter. Seeing as how I didn't have any other allergens I'm guessing they just cooked it normally. So red flag there. My daughter has allergies as well so I got the Mediterranean hummus appetizer. It ended up having some feta cheese on it that I scraped off and I thought perhaps I over looked that on the menu. I brought it up to the other waiter and he said it's always been like that. Okay so I pulled the menu up and it didn't list it as an ingredient so as we were leaving I kind of pulled him aside let him know like hey, she has an allergy it's fine but they should list it or something and his response was only that "that's how they have always done it". No apology or care. Wendy and Cody gave us great service and tried to be helpful even though their policies are changing but the third guy could have at least been a more decent human being. read more

Four of my friends and I went to Winchell's a few nights ago on a whim and know we'll be going back. I have lived 2 miles from this place and just got around to giving it a try. We all had nothing but good comments here. Maureen's seafood pasta looked delicious and, according to her, was just that. Large scallops, shrimp and other fish in a great looking creamy sauce over linguini. She ate every bit. Sandy and Jeannette loved their Reuben sandwiches although they both had to take half home because they are huge!! The sandwich is served with a marble rye bread that they particularly liked. My French Dip sandwich in a Ciabatta roll was one of the best. I love this sandwich but not always good in some places. This one was exceptional. Very tender, juicy stacked beef, thinly sliced to perfection on a very fresh (maybe too fresh) Ciabatta roll. Not to salty au jus for dipping made this a darn good meal. I swore I would take half home but ........:-) Tons of very crispy french fries, sprinkled with a zesty seasoned salt could get me to love french fries again. Ditto on the coleslaw side. Service was excellent. We overstayed our welcome because we were enjoying the conversation as we always do and no one tried to rush us out. The menu is large and the prices are very reasonable for the portions served. The restaurant is divided by an enclosed glass smoking section completely apart from the non-smoking section. . We have been going to Winchells for several years and the food has been excellent. Yesterday my husband triple decker corn beef was the worst. He could not eat most of the meat. I had a turkey club it was not cut in quarters and all the turkey was piled up in the center. Not sure when we will be back. read more
