I shop at Winco for two reasons only; they are cheap and they are close to where I currently live. Produce: I avoid their produce like the plague, everything seems to be wilting or worst yet, to be so artificial that I wouldn't be surprised if it were made with high fructose injected plastic. I would gladly pay more at another store then purchase produce here. I come here mostly for the bare necessities and avoid the center of the store (mostly contains items to increase your belt size). I have to agree with the other reviewers that the majority of the customers are very unpleasant. I have been bumped into with carts and elbowed out of the way. People stop in the middle of aisles and refuse to move their carts for pretty much any reason. The only way I survive moving through here is with my headphones on and music turned up. Unless you are on a tight budget I would highly recommend avoiding this store. read more

I am giving them 2 stars because of the service I received today at their the bottle drop. I've noticed that they usually have issues with their bottle drop with their machines breaking down frequently and by frequently, I mean almost every day. When I went to take my bottles to get my change, the machines were acting up which occurs daily from what I've seen, then when an employee came to fix it and I was able to start putting my bottles in, it was rejecting my cans and I asked if she could hand count it, she just gave me an attitude and was yelling at to go bitch to customer service instead. When I got help, they fixed it and still refused to do the hand count because we have to put the bottles in before they can hand count it. I found it funny how they really enforce that rule but they don't enforce the 200 bottles per day. If you're going to enforce one rule, ENFORCE ALL OF THEM. I will say I was furious about the whole situation, especially having to jump through so many hoops just to return some freaking containers. WinCo, I really hope you're reading this because when it comes to this, your people have absolutely no clue as to what they're doing. So if you're needing to recycle your cans, TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE!!! because they don't know what the f**k they're doing when it comes to that. read more

So here is the deal for customer service I give them a BIG ZERO! The cashier was rude from the get go. She seemed very inconvenienced to do her job. I get that it's not the most desirable job in the world but if it's yours do it with pride! Then I forgot my shopping bags at home so my bad there and I am new to the area so getting charged for paper bags that I reuse and/or recycle I find a bit annoying. The store is pretty clean but I don't think I will return to this location I will drive to the Springfield for the better customer service. read more

I am a person that looks for value. If that means I don't get greeted or have my grocery bagged, or have items nicely stacked individually without cardboard, so be it. We have a large family and we have to be mindful on value and you do get that here. Yes the store can get busy and and the aisles can get hectic, but that should tell you that it has something going right for it. But if you want to save money you will just have to get over it and grin and bear it. read more

This was my first time at a Winco and I was very impressed with the prices and with what was offered. I've never seen so many bulk food containers in my life. They even had bulk chocolate covered gummy bears! The prices were the lowest I have seen around. Just a great store. read more

I approached the manager at Winco, Springfield, Oregon on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at approximately 4:25 pm concerning multiple (8) customers inside the store who refused to wear any masks. I asked him to please enforce the mandate issued by the Govenor with regards to wearing masks. He replied that his responsibility was to post signs stating that masks were required and he would do nothing further. I explained to the Manager that both my wife and I were immune depressed and very susceptible to the virus even though we both had been immunized. The manager recommended that if we were that concerned then shopping in person was probably not a "viable alternative". I videotaped the exchange as well as the number of customers at the store who were not wearing masks. It should be noted that the manager had been wearing his mask below his nose, however when I approached he did pull his mask up over his nose. read more

If you are the type of person that prefers shopping in a store that presents a certain image of being "green," "eco-friendly," or modern, and that attracts people of such images, then Winco isn't for you. However, if your wallet simply can't sustain shopping at such places, maybe it's time for necessity to override stylishness and go to Winco. Because, Winco literally has the best deals on town. Often times, it beats even Costco in good prices. (Plus you don't have to pay for a freakin' membership to get in.) But it isn't shiny, new, nor does it come with the worldly feel that you get at Market of Choice or Fred Meyers. Going to Winco isn't always fun, and it isn't always pleasant, but when you get out of the store, you're a few bucks richer at the end of the day than you might normally be somewhere else. It also offers a large selection of reasonably-priced bulk items, (which really are such a money-saver compared to the same items canned or packaged). Moreover, they have great deals on beer! How can you complain about that? One tip I would offer shoppers is to avoid Winco at the first of the month. Because that's when government checks come in, and it feels like the entire population of Eugene is in the store. Additionally, I do agree with previous reviewers, that if you are searching for more organic, or hard-to-find items, you'll probably have to check somewhere else. And Winco doesn't offer many amazing deals on hygiene, household or beauty items. Despite that, you can save a LOT per month just buying food, and I think that really makes it worth it. read more

There's something amazing about bulk bins, guys. In all seriousness, that's my favorite thing about WinCo: I can get all sorts of stuff in a variety of serving sizes from their bulk bins. Need a ton of flour, or just enough to make this one dish? Having a dinner party and need way more paprika than any person should have stored in their pantry at one time? What if you just want to try making a dish with completely new to you ingredients? You can probably find it in the bulk bins. That said, this place is great for deals, but don't expect anything super exotic in the produce or dry goods aisles. The stuff stocked is dependent upon local tastes, seasonality and whatever deal they can get on a large amount of it. If I need something oddball, I'm not usually here first, but I do like that I can get a big ol' bag of Juanitas tortilla chips for less than the regular size bag at Safeway or Fred Meyer. Also, if you need something late at night, this is the place to go, as it's open 24 hours. Mind you, I've been there during their wee hours restocking time and it can be a little, uh, strange trying to get through the aisles. While they're open, certain segments of the store that are being restocked will be blocked off with little gates and such. It's not that big of an inconvenience but it was a surprise the first time I was there at 1am, desperately in need of something that only late night cravings could explain. read more

Decent customer service, always stocked, but it does get fairly crowded during the day. Sometimes it's so crowded, you literally bump into other shoppers throughout the store. I would highly recommend that shoppers shop here in the late to mid evening. If you want to shop when hardly anyone else is; 10pm-5am would be the best times. WinCo is my go-to store for that Green Dragon energy drink. Tastier than red bull, and it kicks in quickly. It might be the chlorine in it, but I don't know. Anyways, this store is fantastic, being a native of Everett, WA I quickly found the layout for this one here in Eugene to be very similar in layout and I knew exactly where to go. The only down side is that the employees probably don't like me that much because when I've gone recently I've been paying for my roughly $4 purchases in nickels or dimes because my card isn't accepted by WinCo for some reason. Love the prices here. Even though there is usually a decent amount of cashiers, there is always a line and we have to wait at least 5 min in line every time we come no matter what time it is. (We usually go at 7pm). Cashiers are always really nice and understanding when my daughter is being impatient and whiney. read more

LOVE Winco! Its not fancy but its the cheapest grocery store in town. The staff is friendly and helpful. They have a great selection of produce and bulk item's. I only wish they would carrie tempah and vegan sour cream. read more

Then you have Costco who has a reputation to be the shiat and save money but nah dude look clearly you are not saving money at all not to mention they put price sign misleading customers like me who don't give a flying duck to look at the small print all I see it's a big price tag pointing at the product I'm buying then you look at the receipt and that thing was way more expensive then what I was expecting do you wonder why every single time you go to Costco is NEVER less than a 100 bucks ??? I cannot even mention how much I dislike shopping at this stop. I totally agree with the previous comments about trashy people, and lack of courteousy. I too avoid the produce section with much speed. Main reason isn't so much due to lack of quality because on occasion it can look and probably is pretty fresh and tasty. The main reason why I will not purchase produce for here is because of all of the filthy people in their fondling, feeling and touching the produce to the point where no amount of washing will convince me the produce is clean enough and feces free for me to consume it. Also, the meat department is more than questionable in regards to the seafood and beef. I seriously do not think I have even been hungry enough to want to eat clams shipped in from Vietnam. I don't even have to ask the counter person if they are fresh. It is printed write on the tag in front of them " Product of Vietnam" nothing against Vietnam. If I was in Vietnam and would want Vietnam clams. Since I am in Oregon I want at the least west coast clams. Shop with caution, park with caution and pray you get out alive and unoffended. read more

Pretty unhappy. Went over this morning because today was the last day of the sale for Prime rib roast. The advertised sale was for $4.99 per lb. I found 3 roasts at $5.98/lb and 1 for $6.78/lb. When I asked for help I was told, "I don't know why, there is nothing I can do about the prices." When I asked for the manager, the guy left and came back with a printed label stating the $5.98 price/lb and said, "sorry nothing I do the advertised price must be for a select roast." Whatever!!! After reading a few of the rotten reviews, I have to put my two cents in. It seems the reviews were mostly written by disgruntled teenagers who are cramming for finals. I shop at all the local grocery stores, but I probably frequent WinCo at least 50% of the time, and basically spend the majority of my food budget there. Why? Because they consistently have everything I need in one store - produce, meat, staples - and for a whole lot less than the other stores. I don't have a complaint with the selection, but then I am accustomed to taking a few seconds to make the best selection so I'm not disappointed. I've had to return a few items to other stores de to mold, but never to WinCo to date. BTW, I must be one of the old, clueless ladies mentioed in an earlier review by a snip, because I have nearly been run over by carts by a couple of pushy college aged adolescents in the dairy aisle when I was selecting my yogurt and cottage cheese, after waiting my turn to be within an arm's reach of the dairy case. I'll tell you none of my raised kids better be in such a hurry that they think they have more right to the aisle than a disabled elderly person who gets in their way and slows them down by half a minute. Most of us have already long finished our own college studies and held down jobs and raised kids while doing so, so this is no excuse for rudeness or arrogance. Perhaps you should stick to shopping at Market of Choice or Long's Meat Market if the old people annoy you so much. We'd all be a little happier. By the way, this has only happened a couple of times in the past five years and I was not the only person shocked by such behavior, and the others were also college age, so it is hardly something that would restrict my continuing to shop at WinCo in the least! This store is, for the most part, AWESOME! Yes, it does get busy - but that's because it's about 30% less costly than most other grocery stores. Also, It is employee owed. I'm not interested in being seen or paying a premium for a store with fancy looking displays. WINCO has nearly everything I want, and since Safeway and Albertson's jacked their prices up some years ago, I decided to make it my go-to place for groceries. I can consistently get all those price-floored $3.99 items you see at the other places for $2.39 or $2.09. It can be pretty crowded in the daytime, complete with mullets and screaming kids, and late nights you'd better be good at dodging speeding forklifts and squeezing past boxes laying in the aisles. However, there are good times to visit when neither of these is a problem. It's employee-owned and we've saved thousands of dollars by now on groceries. Thanks, WINCO. read more
