I suffer from rheumatoid arthritis & nerve pain. I like to do my own shopping & I need an electric cart to do this. Nearly every time I have gone to this WinCo there have been no available carts & always, ALWAYS 2 or 3 that are out of service. The last time I tried to find one was before 9am. They had several carts available - all low on electricity. WinCo, unlike other stores does not keep their electric carts at the entrance. In addition to the PAINFUL walk from the parking lot, one has to walk further to the customer service desk, where one will receive no service whatsoever. The employee who was there watching me try one cart after another, growing more frustrated with each one, made no offer to assist me. Since she couldn't be bothered to plug in any of the carts either, I can't imagine what she does there. The fact of the matter is, if WinCo doesn't welcome the disabled, why furnish the carts at all? read more

I wouldn't give even 1 star but I had to pick one. I remember when my husband introduced me to Winco I loved it. I even told my friends and family about it. It's been awhile now that I dread even going but I never put a review. Today is the day. We get to store and there is not even 1 basket available in their basket stall. They are all over parking lot and HOT. No basket gatherer in sight(as usual). They at least had more registers open today for once. Bathrooms are always horrible. What used to be a grocery store that we liked is now seeming to turn into another Wal-Mart. For a store to have had such a good reputation and good employees is really going down hill fast! read more

I drove far to visit a grocery store which is all my fault. So many folks are talking about Winco saying it's cheap and all... Went in and noticed nothing was really cheap. They have bulk items but most of em are candies. I didn't see much of the chips and such but they did have a lot of space for not that many things. It was like going inside Sam's but buying non bulk items. For me I rather go to Kroger which I think is pretty cheap and has good selections. My thoughts of Winco is just eh.. read more

It's way to busy and crowded right now. It's like a Walmart! They are somewhat cheaper in only certain stuff! All the good stuff like the good cut of meat "ribeye" is still pricey. They have a good selection of wine and beer. However it will never take the place of Thumb Tom! Negative part the cashiers are not friendly and they don't take credit card! 5 stars particularly for the bulk food bins: spices, pastas, snacks, red quinoa, rice variations, etc. etc. -- excellent prices on these. For example, I got a self serve bag of turmeric which would overfill one of my spice jars. It totaled 40 cents! And very fresh looking dried dill was similarly priced. Why spend $3 to $4 on a smaller jar from regular grocery? The WinCo packaged brands are also a bargain. Yeah, there are some big brand items at prices that compare to other groceries, but overall there are definite bargains to be found like a 8 oz bag of shredded mozzarella for 99 cents and a can of black beans for 48 cents and the list goes on. Just keep me away from the bulk licorice all sort mix -- the freshest I've ever tasted. read more

I love this grocery store, it is SO convenient if you always get out late for work and want to buy groceries. Its good to know that it is always available and it helps that you don't have to squeeze in time for grocery shopping. read more

I can find almost everything I need for cheaper! Staples like milk and eggs were CHEAP!! A dollar and change for a gallon of milk. The employees here are wonderful! Everyone I met greeted me and seemed genuine about wanting to help me. The cashiers were friendly and worked as fast and efficiently as they could. The worst thing about this store: LONG LINES!!! 10-15 min wait to check out. It's because there are so many customers and their carts are FULL!!! (Can't blame them!) And of course not enough cashiers to go around. They only accept cash and debit. No credit cards. And they do have a few self check outs if you're just grabbing a few items. So I guess had it been the case that I just needed my gallon of milk and did self check out, I would've rated this business 5 stars. read more

I've had a few friends tell me they love shopping at WinCo. I still don't understand. It feels like a big Aldi's, but the prices don't keep me coming back. The times when I want to go, the place is crawling with people that seem to be "hanging out." I don't feel safe in the parking lot alone because it's so dark out there. The store is big, clean and the prices are great. Every employee I passed said hello (something that is rare these days). Things were easy to find, and there's plenty of parking. So I heard this place had a new location in garland and quickly became excited. I was thinking about my visit all week. The store is big and well laid out and they have maps in case you need to find anything specific. Thy have a very large bulk section with everything from pasta, soup mix, cat food, dog treats, and of course candy. The aisles are big and clean. They happened to be Having a promotion when I went spend $25 dollars and get a turkey for $.38 a lb. so in a did toon to all foot her bargains I got a 15 lb turkey for $6. Will definitely be back due to the fact that winco blows most of the other grocery stores in the area out of the water! read more

The prices were fair. A lot of it is hit and miss though. Be sure to check your expiration dates. I grabbed some cottage cheese without checking the date. The container was bloated and dented up like it had been dropped. I checked the exp date and it was only 3 days until reaching said date. Other than that it was a fair experience, the building was packed on a Sunday, and of course like Wal-Mart the customers were rude and had the "me first" attitude, and one person jammed his shopping cart into me. If you can handle rude people, long lines, and cramped buildings for minimal savings.. go for it. read more

Went on Sunday .very crowded .Got what we needed, went to checkout. There was 5 checkouts open.And that many self check. All the checkouts had over 20 people in line .So went to the self checkout .It moved faster then we thought it would . Will go back but not on a Sunday read more

This place is quite a distance from my place. While the variety of items are enormous compared to some smaller grocery stores, it is not worth the drive. Parking lot is chaos, lots of stupid drivers who doesn't know how to park properly. read more

Gallons of milk for $1.08. You can't beat that. They make their money up on some of the other items, but if you stick with the specials, you will do great! Ans, they are open 24 hours, so you can stay away from Satan, aka, WalMart. read more

I have read other reviews of how they have milk at .98 and all that. I went there this past weekend to try it out. (No its not in my area). Yes they have items that are significantly lower then other stores HOWEVER, that's to get you in there. I noticed MANY regular items that were at the least 10 cents+ higher then the others. They also had "cheaper brands" which yes the cost will be lower. The meat section wasn't to great or big. What little was there wasn't cheap by any means. They didn't really have much or a big selection. The bulk section was cool for nuts, grains, choc covered raisins ...etc, however I would of had to use my hand to get the yogurt covered pretzels. They are all in a bin with no Scooper LOL. Over all I bet you spend more there overall there then if you were at Walmart or Kroger. I will not be back. I guess its good for the cheap advertised stuff and that's about it. read more

I shopped at winco for the first time and my experience was not as great as I wanted to be. The products and variety are quite good. I shopped a lot of items and when I checked out the total was in $ 300. I was a bit surprised but thought since it was a cart full it must be.Paid the amount but my gut feeling was that something is wrong. so when I checked the bill in detail I found a manual entry for almost $142 for a produce. MAN WT xx.xx lb @ 3.48/lb = $XXX. The customer service was very good and immediately returned the excess amount charged but the experience is not so great and good that I went through the bill. read more

First I would like to say that the customers at WinCo Foods make Walmart customers look like upstanding stylish citizens. Before I even got inside there was an altercation in the parking lot a man punched a passing car and his wife cursed at the passing car while their children ran all over the place. I also noticed a lot of overweight people using the Handy carts I don't know if they were handicapped or if it was just easier for them to get around on the Handy carts. I have no particular gripe about this because sometimes I use the handy carrt just when my feet hurt but the aisles were pretty much blocked by them, it took me a couple of minutes to get inside because I had to wait for one person to move. The store is stacked to the ceiling which with what are supposedly good deals when you enter but really are just average. I guess they are trying to create a dingy atmosphere with a warehouse feel to make you think you're getting great bargains when I look for the bottled water there was one brand in 24 packs and big large gallon water bottle bottles in one place and on the other side of the store there were maybe two other brands which I found out they were both horribly overpriced I got a better deal at Tom Thumb by far. The only thing WinCo Foods has going for it is that they have a bulk section if you don't want to drive all the way to Whole Foods or central market. I personally would advise not buying anything in the bulk section unless it pours directly into a bag I wouldn't trust the other scoopable product because you would have to trust the other customers to be sanitary. I think the store needs a security guard outside, inside the front door, in the middle and posted at all four corners. read more

I went to this store today because they sent out coupons for a free 12 pack of Pepsi products soda's and a free 10 to 11 ounce bag a Doritos so I went and got my free stuff and some other stuff. I had never heard of this store as I am only a year new to Texas, the prices are cheaper than the stores I had been shopping at Walmart and Kroger and even Aldi's on some stuff. I got a gallon of regular milk for 1.09 and eggs were 1.29 for a dozen of large I just paid 2.89 at Aldi's. The bulk section is heaven for a person like myself who only cooks for one person 98% of the time, this way I can buy just what I need and not have extra sitting around that I'll never use before it goes bad. Everything is not cheap there you will need to know how to bargain shop, I wouldn't get my meats there unless the price is right I usually shop the Mexican stores for meat they sell good meat at a decent price. Over all I like this place oh and its a employee owned store, it's clean too and well stocked the staff is friendly and helpful! I took my daughter tonight just to look around she likes the place she said she'll be shopping there too.They have a bakery and seafood counter ready made salads I saw a soup bar self serve and a huge freezer section. read more

It,s very big.Went the fourth day they opened,neat inside thought they might be out of some things.But every shelve was stocked.If you need bulk items this the place to go.Prices good ,did not find they were much higher then WalMart,on most things.They are open 24/7 for anyone that does late night shopping. read more

I purchased bulk spices thyme, cayenne, paprika enough to refill the packaged product (containers) would have been several dollars each yet my total was $1.57 for three spices. After a $1.98 watermelon and prime deli turkey breast slices for dollars less per pound than Tom Thumb. Savings abound in this store. Consider loss leaders milk for $1.19/gal and eggs 3 dozen for $2.76. I like this place read more

I used to think Winco had such awesome prices.. But I see that was a ploy to build customers...the same items are at Walmart...much cheaper!

WinCo is a great store in general. Good selection and prices. But this Garland, TX location is losing the battle to the area. This store is always a mess. People throw things any where they please. There are always screaming and crying kids in this store. Customers at this store tend to be rude, loud and obnoxious. But then again it is where this store is located in an area that depends heavily on food stamps and customers that have no respect or concept of what it is to work for something. read more
