I could go on and on how helpful and empathetic they were when it was time to let our golden go. They were with me every step of the way. In my opinion they have turned their business into a family. Some reviews have mentioned pricing. I find NCV extremely reasonable. When we got our puppy 11 years ago we were going to West Roxbury for our vet needs. The prices were through the roof there. I had called the office Monday, twice, and was told each time Dr McCabe is not in today, however, another Veterinarian on call would call me back, regarding a very important issue. I did not receive a call back, so on my way home I decided to stop by the office. I was met with the front desk staff, who was very rude, and told me the Veterinarian that is on call couldn't "speak" to me because my dog is not "her patient". I then asked if that was the case, which sounds ridiculous and a complete excuse of the Drs. negligence, why wasn't I told that when I called twice. Staff then assured me that I would receive a call the following morning from my Vet. I waited for 1.5 hours following morning for the call that never came. I called the office and was told she was seeing patients. I am beyond shocked that this is how the staff operates, Vets included. it is now 5 hours after I called, 3 times within 24 hours, and not one Vet has got back to me. Mind you my call was very important regarding my dog's active heart failure and cardiac cachexia. DR McCabe is heartless, ignorant, and downright rude. She has zero empathy, and her staff is the same. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE. I have another dog who is 3 and after this experience I am looking for a new Vet ASAP.

They gave her completely false hope, leading her to believe that with their expensive radiation treatments, her cat--who was her absolute world--would recover and live a good life. My daughter is a low-income house cleaner, a fact they were well aware of, yet they willingly took the vast majority of her hard-earned savings. Because we live in Pittsfield, on the western border of Massachusetts, she had to make multiple grueling, two-plus-hour trips to the Boston area, paying out-of-pocket for motels for days at a time just so Melfyn could receive care. It feels like an absolute scam. Less than a single month after completing these exhausting and expensive treatments, Melfyn passed away. They drained her bank account and put her through immense stress, only to leave her completely heartbroken and devastated. This hospital showed a total lack of empathy and realistic guidance. I would highly warn anyone, especially those making sacrifices to afford care, to be incredibly wary of the false promises made here.

We have had multiple visits at Holmes now, and every time the staff are incredibly nice, accommodating, and professional. The doctors are not condescending. They understand how to explain treatments and procedures in a professional and easily accessible manner. Honestly, they ease my anxiety about taking my pets to the vet, along with easing the anxiety of my pets. Prices are definitely competitive, too. Grateful I brought my fur kids here. My vet was not cooperative and I seemed to have to justify the decision to put my cat down to her when she could not give me options for treatment or even a diagnosis. Frustrated, I called Lap of Love. They were such a relief. The first time I called the woman who answered was very kind and compassionate. But I chickened out and didn't actually make an appointment. My cat then had a scary incident that made me convinced that I had to do this and I called back. The man who answered was great and got me an appointment within 3 days. I didn't have to justify the decision. I didn't have to get records and PROVE I had a basis for the decision. They did ask for the cat's vet but I am unsure if they called them. I am a little different and I did not want to be around during the procedure. My cat is not the type to be comforted by me. I worried that might be a problem. But it wasn't. The doctor called me before the appointment and told me she was coming and she was on time (very important when you have spent three days just trying to keep your nerve) and kind. I was allowed to step out of my home (I had worried she might tell me I couldn't do that due to liability issues of leaving her alone in the house) and she came and got me when done. She left me a paw print cast of my cat and a locke of hair. Thank god for this service. No one wants to do this but it was a relief not to have to fight for the service when you are using all your strength and backbone to make the decision in the first place.

As soon as she arrived, she brought a sense of calmness to our home. She offered as much time and space as we needed and very gently explained the process. Each detail was so sweetly thought out, from the cheezwiz to the follow up note and paw print. But Google maps asked me to review it now because I was there the other day, so I am reviewing it now :). One of the nurses is so great at calming one of our cats who is always terrified when we go there for a visit, so I always hope he will be there when we have to go, and when one of my cats passed away a few months ago, they sent us flowers and a card because they were notified from the hospital. Also Dr. Mann is great with our "scaredy-cat" Helo.
