IF we could give this dump a ZERO rating that's what it would get. We knew it was off season and they would be closed Monday-Wednesday then open Thursday-Sunday we get that but when you are OPEN at least have servers cause when we went there the place was empty and the only way to order was thru the bartender at the bar. We ordered the Peppy pizza. 10 inch cheese and pepperoni. What they served us was a cheap BOX pizza not even close to any pizza we were expecting. We had a party of 11 for lunch to celebrate dad's 80th birthday. Staff, food and atmosphere were wonderful (tiki bar decor with lake front views) and they were very accommodating to our requests. Even allowed us to bring in a special cake and sliced it for us to eat later on the boat we rented for the day (so fun and the marina staff were awesome!). Loved the new menu and the food was so tasty. My son and I had the fish tacos (very tasty with a Caribbean style spicy seasoning), salads were HUGE, hamburgers cooked perfectly to everyone's taste and my husband was thrilled to get a big tenderloin. We had a good lunch here. Sat outside due to Covid. Nothing really special (except the view), but nothing bad either. I like to eat vegetarian, so I had the veggie burger. it tasted just like something off the Gordon Food Service truck, which coincidentally, we saw pull up as we were leaving. It was served on a brioche bun with lettuce, tomato and pickle. I chose the sweet potato fries for my side item - they were thick-cut and not all thoroughly cooked, but they were okay. My husband had the pork sandwich and potatoes salad - he liked both of these a lot. The lake view is glorious, and this is a wonderful spot for a sunny summer afternoon. We got our food pretty quickly, and it feels like they're trying their best during the Covid situation. The strawberry daiquiri was a highlight. We dined here a second time this week, because we are staying in the area, and we like the view. This time we had the Nachos for Two - plenty to share and very cheesy. read more

Stopped by at 1:30 on a Saturday. Parking lot packed. Went in for a lunch and 1 waitress and one folding napkins. Way understaffed, waited about 15 minutes and no service or acknowledgement. Both the waitress and napkin folder walked by our table at least twice. Finally decided no service was on the menu and left. Went down the road to the Eagle Point restaurant, highly recommend. Last night they were operating at half capacity. 10 or so tables spaced 6ft. apart with 4 waitresses serving them. We entered with a rather large party. 5 adults and 6 children. Understandably a complicated order for even a well versed staff. Our waitress served 3 of those tables, all ours. So about 30% of the dining area. Again understandably complicated, but at the worst annoyingly manageable. We were sat, the children were acting civil, and experienced drink inquiry reasonably quickly. All drinks were delivered and the waitress (Saiera) inquired about food. We placed our order and explained which children would be on their corresponding parents ticket. Only two families so only two bills. We explained it clearly and she seemed to understand. Everything was going as expected... Then we waited. And waited. I watched 4 different families enter, place orders, and GET THEIR FOOD SERVED before Saeira brought half of our order out with our ticket, stating she doesn't know what happened, but the kitchen only made half of our food. She brought the ticket to prove she had done nothing wrong. We felt left behind, we felt forgotten about. We had remained kind and had emphasized patience and communication, up until this point. She tried comping our meal and providing dessert, but half of us had never been served entrees'! Our stomachs were empty and now we're looking at possibly leaving just to increase our chances of eating, something. Anything. At this point we had been at the table for 2 hours. The food she brought out was cold, inedible, we had it returned. We asked for the manager. He poked his head out and cowardly tucked back into the kitchen without so much as a peep to us. We order shots at the bar. Whiskey and pickle backers. My pickle backer had a piece of corn in it. Not surprised I sit quietly on my phone. Saiera brings back an assistant manager whom I know, he handles us pleasantly, tells us our food will pushes to the front of the line and reassures us of our dinner. We took deep breathes and waited. Another 30 mins pass by and Saiera comes out again asking if she can get us anything else, refill drinks, etc. I tell her I want to know when my food will be ready. A detail I wrongfully assumed she would have mastered by now. Her character is now crumbling as I highlight her negligence, and I refrain from verbally correcting her further in what is now an at capacity resturaunt. More families enter as this is now prime time dinner time. (8pm) I watch the host turn 4 more families away because they couldn't sit them. Saiera comes back, "It'll be out in 5 mins." Our food came out about 5 mins later, soon enough to think her truthful and I began eating. My food was fine although I was served my Caesar salad at the same time as my Pork Tenderloin... which maybe I should've specified that I wanted ordered separately. I didn't complain and was happy to eat but my friends weren't as lucky. Ones fries were cold like they had been sitting out for awhile, another burger was just as cold as the first burger she was served, all of the fish was rather mushy, and they just poked it with their fork and turned up a nose. The children were all eating happily, oblivious to the current anomaly. We adults just sucked it up and ate what we could, presuming that because the meal was free we should no longer complain. The only other thing we asked for was tarter sauce. It was delivered, we all ate. Meal over. And this is where it gets good. Now finished, I would like to take the shot of whiskey and the pickle backer from earlier, remember? But the pickle backer still has a piece of corn in it... so I slink up and walk up to the bar. A bartender and the main manager stand behind it. "Get in line." He says. I take a couple of steps back and stand behind the gentleman to my right. They serve him, hastily. Meanwhile, behind me, Saiera delivers a bill to the table. "How is this getting split up." Now presumably questioning something we've explained 3 times at this point. "We're not paying for this!" my comrad explains. Saeira storms off. He's next!" The manager points at me and subsequently acknowledges my individual presence for the first time in the evening, and after presumably comping a $160 meal... I greet him, "Are you the manager." Wait times at the old Jammer were not great. I was told it would be an hour to be placed on the list to sit outside so I just said I'd take the first available but that ended up being 45 minutes. They started seating everyone inside at one point but guests would just point to an open table outside and get to eat on the patio...whatever. From the time I put our names in to when our food arrived was nearly an hour and 45 minutes. I was hungry and a little irritated by then but they had live music cranking out the Yacht Rock so I survived. They seemed to be staffed appropriately with team members running frantically all over the place but you could look in any direction and see people seated at tables waiting for their food so maybe the back up was in the kitchen. I got the blackened fish tacos with French fries but I'm pretty sure I received the fish then use for the fish & chips because it was breaded and fried. The French fries must have run out because I got onion rings which tasted great but....y'know....not French fries and I was not informed of the substitution. This place could be so successful. It has a great location, no competition, and entertainment is always good. But time and time again the food service is beyond frustrating. The servers are so sweet and friendly but the drinks and food take forever. Last time I was there they were literally out of everything (salads, fish, nachos, etc). We were staying at Fourwinds Resort and decided to stay on property to eat. We popped into the Windjammer about 5:30pm. It wasn't very busy - about half a dozen tables filled and a few people at the bar area. Although it wasn't very busy, things seemed a little frantic with the waitstaff. We saw at least 3 waiters at various times but the would disappear into the kitchen for several minutes. Maybe they were helping prepare food? No idea. We ordered the fish and chips, cheesesteak with sweet potato fries, and the fried green tomato BLT with potato salad. The fries served with the fish and chips had some kind of batter coating. Apparently the fish and cheesesteak were good because I didn't even get a taste. I really wanted to like the BLT. After all, it has FRIED GREEN TOMATOES! I really liked the tomatoes and the bacon, but the sandwich just didn't come together. There was a little avocado sauce smeared on the bun, but it just didn't give enough moisture or creaminess to the sandwich. I experimented with some leftover tartar sauce, the brazenly asked for ranch dressing. Ranch is so good with FGTs and I figured that it couldn't hurt. It wasn't bad. Overall, it was okay. We checked into Fourwinds early and we were all hungry. After checking out the menu, we decided to eat at the Windjammer. Cute place, looked decent enough. We ordered the nachos with beef and chicken, I ordered the fish tacos and the Better Half had the tenderloin sliders. The restaurant was extremely warm next to the windows despite the tinting and there were a couple bugs flying around (flies, gnats) the table. Our server was pleasant but seemed to not be too sure of herself. She did a decent enough job in getting our food to the table and refilling the water we'd ordered. The nachos took a while but were plentiful and not too bad, but the meat and chicken looked like pizza toppings and they weren't real predominant in flavor. I read that the fish tacos were the meal to order but sadly when they were delivered (immediately after the nachos) the tortillas were hard and rubbery, the fish cold and the slaw warm. Not appealing - at all. (Kinda wonder if they had forgotten the appetizers and they let the tacos sit while they made the nachos?) The Better Half said the tenderloin sliders were just ok. I can't speak to the bar as we didn't order any drinks but this is not a place that I would return to eat unless there were no other options available. Menu seemed to be only regular ole non-impressive bar food. On a positive note, the location and the view are awesome! And my guess is, if you went in for drinks, it would garner a 4-5 star review. read more

Oh, where do I start my disappointment? I write this review for warning. If you're thinking about eating here just order a pizza to go. It's the only thing worthwhile and you don't have to put up with the incompetence of the staff. We had 11 in our party and was informed by a waiter that accommodating wasn't possible; even though it wasn't busy and many tables could've been maneuvered together. Also, a party of roughly the same size were all seated together so... Anyway, there's that. Once I told "Johnny Surfboard" we'll just use two separate tables they quickly "cleaned" the eight top. Quotes are necessary for the fact that I had to clean off the chairs and move silverware so that we could have a clean area. Then we sat....and sat...no one. There's still only 10 people in the whole place besides us. Well, I had to help myself to the menus. Then our waiter eventually came to get our drink orders. Once we ordered our food we waited approximately 20 minutes, which isn't bad considering it was for 11 people. The food was something a college kid would make on a hot plate in a dorm after a night of drinking. I ordered the shrimp po'boy and what I got was pretty much a po'boys' third cousin by marriage. It was five unbreaded fried shrimp (so dry and chewy), unbreaded fried banana peppers (so burnt), two pieces of romaine lettuce, a spicy sauce (which was pretty tasty), and a crumbly white hoagie roll. The kettle chips were store bought, not freshly made. They weren't indicated to be fresh made, but it's not difficult to achieve. Kids meals are horribly overpriced for quality/quantity as are regular food items. My fiancé ordered the wrap and there was only a small piece of avocado on it. The carrots on one of our kids meals were dried out. The waiter took my water at one point and I had to ask for it back. He brought be tarter sauce..... No one had any fish. It took him four trips and a complaint to get all our condiments so we could eat the food, enjoy would be too generous of a word. The bar staff was friendly and efficient the previous evening. Huge crowd and they were just bouncing all around making it happen and correctly. Ran out of some drafts, but that happens. Avoid yourself the disappointment, just grab a drink and/or some pizza to go. (Those are the only reasons I gave this review two stars) Or bring your own food and make it yourself. At least that you won't feel like you wadded up your money and threw it into a bottomless pit. There is no reason this restaurant should be terrible, even after firing their head chef. It's the only one on location so this place should have quality food. I would much rather have driven into town. read more

It's not "bad" but it seems that they are fully aware that they have no competition for lakeside dining. I was surprisingly disappointed. I drove out of my way to bring my wife here for her birthday lunch, and wish that I hadn't. Very mediocre microwave bar food in a cheesy "tiki" bar setting, full of kids reeking of chlorine (the pool is just out the door). The service was ok. The tables needed a little more attention. I just can't believe that one of the largest lakes in Indiana has this for its best waterfront dining option. Sad. read more

My husband and I are staying at Fourwinds, there aren't many places open to eat right now so we decided to give the restaurant here a try. We were seated quickly and our server, Seaira, took our drink orders as soon as we sat down. She was very friendly and quick to take our orders, we just split the nachos for two and she offered to bring two plates. She also brought drink refills without being asked, which is huge for me! When we walked in to eat, there were no tables to sit at. And not because they were full of people; they needed cleaned. After standing at the entry for 10 min without being acknowledged, we decided to sit at a dirty table in hopes that a server would come over. 15 min later we still had not been approached by a server. We decided just to order carry out from our room. The food was done in the time they quoted us, and the bartender was friendly as he gathered us plates, silverware, etc... We took the food back to our room to eat. Highly disappointed. For $65 for four meals, I would have hoped for decent food. The food was flavorless, greasy, and just down right gross. Extremely disappointed. Where do I begin? 1) waited 40 minutes for food, which apparently had been sitting at the bar getting cold for 25 minutes. 2) the pizza was the grossest pizza of all time. Manager would not seat us due to health issues, was extremely rude and loudly refused the business of me and my family even though we all were willing to comply with safety regulations. The food was alright. The service ruined it. There are some basics that anyone working as a server should know. Our waitress asked us multiple times if we were ready to order. Each time we said, 'Yes' - then she ran off without taking our order. We ordered an appetizer, salad, and dinner. Of course, it all came at the same time - at a MUCH later time. It came out cold. The boat load of fries would probably be great if it was hot or warm at least. The cheese was cold and too thick to dip the fries in. I never got the salad cheese I asked for twice, and she said she would bring. She never acknowledged that she never brought it; she just said she would, but just didn't. No tarter sauce brought with catfish. We had to ask the other waiter because our girl disappeared a lot. We asked for salt, and the waiter just grabbed it off someone else's table without asking them if they were using it. That was hilarious. First I would like to say that I am loving the four winds hotel and marina! It's a gorgeous atmosphere and everyone is really nice. We are boaters here and normally cook our own food. However we have gotten food from windjammer 3 times . Our first experience, two employees (1 working bar and the other serving drinks to table) talking about how good their drink special was. They both tried the customers drink , and then that same drink was served to the customer. We were sitting 1 seat away from where this took place. The sad part is I don't think they even knew it was wrong ... This past Saturday I ordered the onion ring burger.. It was huge and had tons of toppings . I got more than halfway through my burger before I realized there was wax paper left in my sandwich. It was separating paper left on either the cheese or the hamburger patties. I am still so disturbed that this happened. I notified the waitress and didn't pay for my meal. The worst part is the manager never even came over to my table. I also notified the front desk (knowing very well that's it's not their problem.) I won't be eating there again . It's obvious that the employees aren't getting the direction they need to be a successful restaurant. The hotel does all the hard work to get people in. The windjammer is a restaurant/bar attached to Fourwinds Lakeside Inn on Lake Monroe. It has a Tiki Hut type of vibe. It has good food, music and TV's. There is a great view out onto the marina and you can order togo and eat outside. They have an awesome Quinoa Veggie Burger that is made in house, it the best veggie burger I have ever had! And I get waffle cut sweet potato fries with it yumm. If you are vegan just make sure to specify so they don't toast your bun with butter!! If you eat meat like my husband he is obsessed with the pork belly sandwich they have. read more

We have ordered from here multiple times this summer on the lake for carry out. Unfortunately, they have not provided one opportunity for more than 1 star. Their pizza is 3 stars, service is 0. Have had their nachos, wings, fish and chips, meh, mother to write home about. Get it together with your service. I opted to order a pizza elsewhere and have it delivered to our slip(which isn't at four winds). Last straw was calling today and front desk transferred me to windjammer and nobody picked up. They then transferred me again and nobody picked up. I asked if I could order through them, they said no, I asked them if they could get someone to answer the phone and she said no to that too. Just left this place after horrific service, lousy food and to top it off the 2 young children with us never received their food. 2 of the meals brought were wrong. Shrimp was burnt and the waiter tried to argue that the meal was the correct meal. They ended up comping the meal but honestly most of it was thrown away. When we asked to talk to the manager he said he isn't there and shortly after we overheard another waiter apologizing for more bad food and said he spoke to the manager and they weren't charging him for something. I'm writing this review with the hopes of informing others, but more importantly informing the management about our recent experience. I truly want this place to succeed as it is a beautiful setting on Lake Monroe that has enormous potential. The menu offerings were as my party of 4 expected...typical pub grub and drink options. We ordered the nachos to start along with mixed drinks and beer. The nachos were quick, and the portion size was enormous. Unfortunately, our drinks were terribly slow to arrive, and the Bloody Mary was an unrecognizable dark brown. We assumed it was there own blend, and ultimately decided it just wasn't made correctly despite it being the special of the day. Eventually our food arrived, but service was terribly slow. There were several wait staff just standing around, so we must assume it was a kitchen limitation despite only a few other tables being occupied. Two of our 4 meals were completely overcooked and blackened from the fryer. The chicken tenders were unrecognizable. After trying to suffer through them, we eventually gave up and notified our waitress. She first seemed surprised, but then indicated perhaps they were a little overcooked. She did offer to adjust the check, and for that we were grateful. Unfortunately, the slow service and mediocre food will not immediately bring us back. read more
