Yesssssss Windjammers! So glad we discovered this little gem near the beach! We started coming here at the beginning of football season, because I am a Bills fan and the husband is a Cowgirls fan (unfortunate, I know). First fabulous thing is the $1-$2 beer shelves. It's rarely ever the same beer as they sell what they have surplus of, which makes it fun! Last week it was Mich Ultras, which went quick! So while enjoying whatever beers tickle your fancy, you can also enjoy the best darn wings I've ever experienced. Do yourself a favor and try the Harbor wings, just once in your life. My mouth is watering just thinking about them! They are dry rubbed wings, which I'm not used to, and I was pleasantly surprised with how tasty they were!!!! This hidden gem in Rochester is worth a visit. I have been here many times and have never been disappointed. The wings are probably among the best in Rochester. More than 20 choices of wet sauce or dry rub, the ability to split them up in batches to sample the various toppings, and so many flavors. I highly recommend the wet cajun and harbor style rub. The mac and cheese is homemade and to die for and was one of my staples after I got my wisdom teeth out last year. The best offering of Windjammer's??? The $2 beer shelf with a constantly rotating variety of micro brews. Recent finds: Brooklyn Chocolate Stout, Saranac Blueberry Blonde, Saranac Red IPA. Some nights there is great live music...some nights the 20 year olds stop in and crowd this townie bar after their kickball games. Went on a busy Friday night. The drinks and service were wonderful, but the wings... they were deeply dissapointing. Really dry and over cooked, not enough sauce and hard to eat because there were peices of shattered bones poking out. We ended up leaving most of them. read more

If I could give it no stars I would. Food was absolutely horrid.... Wings had no meat on them and couldn't even finish our meal... Better off going to McDonalds. Cheaper and the quality is better and that is NOT saying much for Windjammers.. The beer selection sucked unless you like Bud or Labatts. Would never go again nor would I recommend to my worst enemy. Great place by the beach. People were nice and friendly service was fast and the best wings I've had. They have many choices on beer. Also live music. Tends to be packed a lot. Since it's close to the beach it has a lovely few of the boats and just a nice atmosphere would recommend the outdoor seating. read more

Where to start, wind jammers has some of the best chicken wings in Rochester. Unfortunately though if you are not a regular there you will be waiting over an hour for your food and the staff will be very disrespectful if they do not know you. One really good thing about this bar is that it has great beer specials! This would be a 4/5 rating if only the staff treated new customers better. The only place that I will eat wings. It's a small little hole in the wall bar. Nothing luxurious. Very reasonably priced food and drinks. Wings are always perfectly crispy. I've never had a wing I didn't like from here. Lots of flavors to choose from. My favorites are harbor and sweet autumn. The cheap beer shelves are a definite plus. My first mobile review because it's easy to say: This place is horrible. I tried the Smokey Mountain Wings and neither the base "sauce" or the dry rub on top were good. The sauce was mostly oil and had an acidic flavorless spice to it. The wings themselves mutated masses of bone and hair. They are pretty expensive considering the venue and how their served. I usually try to give places a few tries but these wings were downright offensive and I won't be back. read more

Went to windjammers last night was seriously disappointed in the service we received , being forgot about , then switched off , then the food took close to 35 minutes . I have heard for awhile that the wings here are great. I finally got around to getting here and trying them. They are very good. I had the mild buffalo and my friend had the honey garlic. I had one of hers and it was great - I would get that flavor next time. I wasn't a fan of the cheese fries - the cheese to fries ratio was weak. The soda cups could also be bigger so we didn't have to wait for refills. We sat under the AC and it was dripping on me. No big deal but it should be looked at. Worst service ever! Took roughly 30+ minutes for food and then another 40+ minutes for the bill at the end of the meal. Was helped by like three different waitresses, all of whom had no idea what was going on with our party. Everyone in my party ordered fried food, wings, fingers, fries, etc. Everything was overdone, and the wings barely had any sauce. Blah. Terrible service + mediocre food? Go elsewhere. read more

I was only visiting a friend on the way back from Been I t and he insisted on the Wings at Windjammers! It was a great experience and the wings are amazing, they have a Blueberry dipping sauce that is to die for! Heard about the wings. Went yesterday with Ellie for a mid-day snack of wings. Greeted as we entered and were invited to seat ourselves. Menus were on the table and Doug came over quickly. Doug asked if we were new to Windjammers. Doug told us about $1 and $2 shelf drink special choices. Extensive menu choices for the wings which Doug helped us pare down with splitting the 18 wing option to 3 flavors, 6 - wings each of Sweet Canadian, Smokey Mountain and their Dry Rub Harbor. Wings were served in a reasonable amount of time with celery, blue cheese and feta dips. Extremely satisfied with taste,size,temperature of the wings. Can't wait until our next visit to try more choices. read more

Great burger... but really... you booted us from our booth while we were still having a beer after dinner. Waitress tried to drop the check the minute we got dinner - that's poor service. When we did pay the bill she actually told us they needed us to finish the drinks at the bar. Wow! Thanks for buying dinner / but get out of that booth now. Won't forget this soon. I would not recommend this place, the service is terrible.. the waitress was the worst, hardly talked to us, dropped a pitcher of water and glasses in the table and walked away. Went in at 3 pm today for lunch. After standing there for a few minutes we had to seat ourselves. After another few minutes of no wait staff helping us we grabbed our own menus from a table. A young waitress then appeared and asked what we wanted to drink. We told her and she immediately asked what we wanted to order to eat. I said we needed to look at the menu still. About 15 minutes later she came back with the drinks. She set them down and walked away without taking our order. The place was dead inside (dining tables anyway)but this girl was nowhere to be found. After another 10 minutes we got up to leave. She approached and asked if we were leaving. My girlfriend said we were definitely leaving. The waitress then said we couldn't take our water and diet coke with us even though they were in plastic cups. We did anyway. This is probably fine for the locals who want a drink. But avoid this dump at all costs for food. It's a joke in every way and smells terrible near the bar. We met a bunch of friends at the Tall Ships and they wanted to know about the place. We filled them in. Word of this place will spread fast. Do yourself a favor and give your business to places in Charlotte who actually want it. read more

Best basic American bar/grill food in all of Rochester. Gigantic thick (easily 3/4lb) super fresh handmade burgers, steaming hot fries, tasty wings (ask for a little extra sauce) and the prices are extremely affordable. Sometimes $1 beer specials, you can't beat that. Waitresses are friendly. Downsides: a little on the loud side but this is not a fine dining establishment so it's not a deal-breaker. Tables are limited and first come first serve so get there early if you want a seat. Since it is such a small place the food comes out piping hot to your table. I've been there several times and my parents go there almost every weekend, never had a complaint about the food. My mother has had many different chicken sandwiches, shrimp appetizers, etc. "Harbor" Wings are unique and delicious. If you like your meal fresh, portions large, beer cheap and when the bill comes you're surprised how you got so much for so little, Windjammers is your place. Sports bar type blue collar crowd. Take it from my father, who I would consider a "big eater", Jammers is gem of a find. You may have to wait for your food a little longer than you're used to, but it is worth it and that's just the reality of having a small establishment that gets crowded at times. read more
