Found this on a search for something different than we have tried before. We were not disappointed! Great food and views of the gulf.

Second time me and the wife ate here. She got the shrimp tacos and I got the fish and shrimp combo. Both were fantastic. Food here is great.

First let me say this is a great location for a bar and grill. Wonderful views of the Gulf. They have recently installed a covered patio that replaced umbrellas - major improvement. Fast and friendly service. Good beer selection. Now for the food. I've eaten here maybe 6 times and each time the food varies. It can be good and it can be mediocre. Last night it was mediocre. I ordered a mushroom and Swiss burger with fries. I got a bacon blue cheese burger. I was tempted to send it back but this was my second choice anyway do I kept it. Was good except for sad looking slice of tomato and even sadder single piece of lettuce. The fries were greasy and tasted like they were fried in old oil. My wife had the grilled combo catch of the day - mahi - and shrimp. An option was fried, blackened or just grilled. She chose just grilled. The actual plate was blackened lightly but for my wife borderline too spicy. Also had onion rings as a side. The onion rings, like the fries were greasy and tasted like old oil. We had to ask for tartar sauce and cocktail sauce which was very odd. I'll probably be back for a beer and view but not for food. read more

I want this place to succeed, much like the place across the parking lot, but, I don't know about others ... there's other ways to cook than frying . A charbroiler would work great here. Smells sell. Like the smell of grease turns people off. Ordered the oyster platter(fried).... they're out of oysters, wound up settling for a fried bacon wrapped hot dog, high tide or something like that with chili cheese and stuff but more importantly the sour cream that I expected on the side came on top of everything so my hot dog was ruined. Sour cream hot dogs must be an acquired taste here, any way ,I hope the pier becomes more Cheddar's like than Arby's . That's my thoughts. read more

Food was good and view was great. I had the bang bang shrimp, which had excellent bang bang sauce and the shrimp was fried just right. But, by far, I most enjoyed the street corn. It was unbelievable and I could have eaten a dozens ears. Overall, an excellent experience. read more

Food is good but 2 days in a row kitchen backed up so unable to be seated. Tables are available do not sure whats going on with kitchen mgmt. Expect a wait! read more

This restaurant is one of my families favorite places to eat! The staff is great, the chef is amazing, and the view is more than anyone can ask for! I would recommend the barracuda shrimp a million times over and the fish tacos are fantastic as well. The servings are huge, and the price is extremely reasonable. read more

Our server was super sweet and accommodating... food was okay but the view is breathtaking.

The two burgers we had were average. Onion rings out of the freezer , not homemade. Frozen drink machine not working, so the frozen drinks were poured over ice. Good for a quick and simple meal read more

We are locals. We like good food. And service. And views. This place always delivers. If there is ever an issue, they fix it. They work hard. Good people. Since the new owners took over and opened earlier this year, things have continued to improve. Can't say enough good things about the chef, he's a rare find. Innovative. Always checks in with guests and really listens to feedback. And damn that food is good! We are lucky to have this in our little town. read more

Good food, greasy food, but one thing I would change is that they had this guy playing music so loud and I couldn't hear myself think.

The staff and owner were polite and working hard to accommodate our requests. They were very flexible and tried to make our experience a good one. The food was all very bland and not seasoned. Chicken fingers were plain, daughter's grilled cheese was bland, kids cheeseburger greasy and tasted like grease. Ran out of shrimp too. Ordered 2 margaritas. One was perfect, the other was completely opposite of the first. Fun atmosphere with an amazing view. Amazing staff, less than amazing food. read more

I enjoyed the barracuda (bang bang) shrimp appetizer and the staff was very friendly, but that's about it. We waited for 30+ minutes for a table when open tables were very visible. We were told that they were waiting for the kitchen to catch up. We finally decided to sit at the bar....where we received great service. They don't have a great selection of non-fried seafood. I went with the grilled shrimp plate and a side of the street corn. The shrimp tasted like they had been frozen, then cooked and covered with too much flavoring. I've had good street corn before and this was not it. It seemed tough and chewy. I did enjoy my friend's barracuda shrimp appetizer and the beach blonde draft beer. We also sampled their bushwhacker, and I was a fan. read more

Was driving by mid-Aug. Seated immediately, great local beer and shared a Triggerfish taco. Delicious! Sun was out. What's not to love!

Came here last year and loved it, tried it twice this week and really disappointed in this place. Long waits with lots of open tables, and an even longer wait for the food (45 minutes after we eventually ordered). They used to do fun things on the sand, including movies after dark. No more. Was told they have new management. Watched a lot of tables finish their long-awaited meal in disgust, and no way I can talk my wife into giving it a 3rd try on this trip. Gave it 2 Tries this week, consistent experience. So much potential with the location! read more

We were looking at reviews and this one got pretty good reviews. It was also beside the pier where we were going to fish so we thought we'd try it out. You have to order online for carry out so I ordered our food. My son picked it up. We ordered cheese curds which was on the menu but didn't receive them. They said they didn't serve them but it was on the online menu and didn't show they were out or not serving them. My husband ordered the fish tacos. He said they were bland. My son ordered the chicken strip basket and they didn't have any honey mustard that was also on the online menu. I ordered the burger with fries. It was burnt around the edges and no sauce was added or on the side. I was not impressed with this place at all. read more

I gotta say this place is fun with great food. On our four day vaca we went there 3 times. Dinner lunch and just stopped by to get an appetizer! Food was way better than expected! Fish tacos were amazing! Sea food combo platter was great! Fish cooked to perfection. Burgers were great to. Canned beer could have been a bit colder but all in all a great experience. read more

We tried this place on a whim and were very pleased! Gabby was our server and she did an excellent job. Our food was excellent. I had the crab crabs and they were some of the best I've ever had! We were there around 7:30 pm and had no problem getting a table. One suggestion I have for the management - the chairs on the high top tables are so uncomfortable, we ended up switching to a regular table but then I watched other customers coming in to sit at them and while they didn't ask for another table you could see they were sitting awkwardly in them. We will definitely eat here again! read more

Went here for lunch today at about 2 pm... long long wait. Decent food - decent service. Nothing special. Don't plan to come back.

Well our first time trying this spot. I'm sure it would have been nice but we were chased out by the rain which is not the restaurants fault. What they could have done is stop seating outside! As soon as the sprinkles came they started taking everything away. People who had just got food and drinks trying to take cover under the umbrellas were told the umbrellas would be taken away. we had to ask for our boxes and the check when our food had just arrived. they were still seating people outside saying the inside was full!?! read more

Great food and atmosphere! We came for a late dinner on a Friday night. It took a while to get a table, but once we were seated, the service happened a reasonable pace. I had the fish tacos with blackened Mahi Mahi, which were delicious! Others at my table had the fried shrimp, blackened shrimp, and fried oysters. Everyone enjoyed their meal and left feeling satisfied! Smoking was allowed on the deck, which may be a turn off for some, especially those with young kids. read more

I had the blackened chicken sandwich and they really nailed it. Best sandwich I've had in quite a while. Not the biggest sandwich on the island but the taste was there and for $10 I don't think you'll find a better view with those prices. It came with seasoned curly fries which also had a great spice flavor unlike the typical fast food kind. 5 stars for the food. But 3 stars for the service. It was a little slow to get the meals which can be ok because it was cooked the right way but once the order was placed we never saw our waitress again for drink refills. I had to flag down another waitress to get ours and the place only had a very low number of customers. We ate at the outside tables so the covered bar may be different. Edit: 3 Stars for service. Wait staff was friendly and professional. Just rarely saw them. More attention to customers and it will be a great place. I will be returning to try other items. I recommend this place to others. read more

I asked for shrimp tacos and received fish. Not a deal breaker. It was still good. I didn't see any liquor options so it might be a beer/wine place only. It has the perfect view to sit and watch the water. read more

Service was HORRIBLE. Our waitress didn't get us refills until we were finished eating and a few had gotten up from the table. We had a sweet young girl who was helping clean tables get us refills. Food wasn't the best and when we didnt tip due to horrible service the manager had the nerve to stop us after purchasing merchandise from the gift shop to inform us that we didn't leave anything for the waitress, and then after we told her we didn't want to tip, she walked away speaking to other employees about what we had done. Not once did the manager as what she could have done differently for us to have left tup. read more

Holy moly!!! So hubby and I are staying nextdoor at the Summerwind and geniuses that we are waited til our last night to eat here. I have been ordering calamari at every place that served it and this is by far the best I've had. My husband has been searching for a tart, authentic key lime pie and he tells me this is also the best. The shrimp salad and fish tacos again...yummmm. And last but not least, it took great deal of control for me not to order and inhale 2 pieces of the cheesecake. Not going to lie, I don't even like cheesecake. Figured I would order it, take a bite and give it to my husband. Yea, that didn't happen lol. All the stars!!! Oh and our server was amazing as well. read more

I love coming to Windjammers every time we visit Navarre. The staff is always so nice and the chef seems to really care about the food that comes out and also that the staff are taking good care of people. It's right on the beach and walking distance to many of the condos. They do lunch and dinner and drinks. The place is fairly big right off the pier and the pier store. For dinner there is usually a wait in the high season so come early or late. We never had to wait too long. On our visit we had burgers, fish tacos, and chicken tenders. It's all standard American bar food but it's delicious! I love their onion rings, they are always so fresh and sweet. The fish tacos in my opinion are the star of the menu. They are amazing and I always get them fried to complete my bar food experience. Seriously you can't go wrong in coming here. They have volleyball courts and show movies on the beach every Wednesday. read more

Fish is always good, excellent view of the pier and gulf. Service seems to be lacking, very slow on our past two visits.

Service was really bad. I think they actually forgot to cook our food. We waited for about 45 minutes before we ever got our food served and that was only after one of the ladies working there realized we had been waiting a while and she wasn't even our waitress!! Of course once that mistake was realized the manager, the chef and our waiter all came by our table to check in with us! The grilled fish was way over cooked and very dry. The fried shrimp was mostly breading with little flavor...think shrimp dipped in Bisquick!!!! The grilled shrimp was okay. All they offered us as an apology was 1 piece of pie for 3 people to share!!!! Tourist trap, bad food, bad music. Maybe just go there during the day for a burger. read more

Pretty good experience! Yes, we had to wait about 10 mins but no biggie! We sat at the bar while waiting for our table and ordered a Bushwacker drink which was beautifully made and very good! We lunched on the fried shrimp basket which was pretty good - good fries and hush puppies. We ordered the Bushwacker pie to go not realizing it was a pie that needed to be frozen. So to our chagrin, when we got back to our campground, after a little sightseeing on the island, it was a bit soupy!. The waitress could have mentioned that! read more

Great atmosphere...but that's about where it ends...waited an hour and fifteen minutes for our food after we were seated...And all anyone ordered was fried seafood or chicken...literally shouldn't have taken more than 15 minutes to prepare even for a party of 8...Waiter let our drinks sit until the ice completely melted and had to be asked for refills...Kept promising food was less than 10 minutes out...After the first 45 minutes. We still sat there an additional 30...Food was average at best...Should've just left read more

It's on the beach, next to the pier. Had beer and pork rinds. Beer was cold and pork rinds were warm.

I failed to look at recent reviews, and wish I would have because we had a very similar experience. It took us a while to be seated, and took an hour to get the food once we ordered. Food came out over cooked and dry. It's unfortunate because it's such a great spot. Restaurants can be difficult, and kitchens can become backed up, but open and transparent communication are key when these things happen. We never received this transparency. Every table around us had the same experience. A lot of work needed for this establishment. read more

The food was pretty good, the waiter was friendly, but the kitchen was slow; I don't like to eat too late, and just had my salad packed up and ate it the next day. It wasn't busy, don't know why it took so long. Everyone liked the food. read more

1st Time and probably won't be back. Very slow kitchen sevice and was bland at best. Had the Mahi Mahi blacked sandwich. Two small pieces of fish that was not blackened or much taste. read more
