I'm writing this because of the poor service I receive - and I was already willing to pay them! Getting a quote was simple, the guy who came was nice. The price was so-so but hey its NY. However when I wanted to request a change in my quote (fix 2 windows instead of 4) via email, I got zero response back. These guys installed sound reducing windows without even looking at the windows I already had. In short, the windows they installed have the same rating as the ones I had previously. You'd think they would have checked. Trying to get the sales guy to come to look at them was a nightmare. I didn't realize what the problem was for a long time. I thought the issue might be the way they were installed. Weeks would go by before I would hear from him and then he'd cancel. In the end I paid a huge sum of money for no improvement. These guys seem ok for basic glass switch. Anything more complex, like entire window switch out and they are cowboys. They never respond to messages or show up to appointments. They do not honor their warranties. The windows in our apartment were under warranty, they wasted time, didn't show up to appointments until the warranty was up. One guy did show up and said that the terrible seals around the windows and the failure of the windows to latch close "wasn't a problem". Never heard from them again. I really don't trust the positive reviews. Not here and especially now on other sites. read more

WindowFix did indeed fix our window! We have a huge and strange picture window. The latch had broken and the window got stuck slightly open, which allowed significant amounts of water to come in the room when it rained. We could not fix the window, nor could a handyman. WindowFix came three days after we called, diagnosed the problem, gave us a quote, and then came back relatively quickly. The Repair Person fixed the window within 15 minutes! It was expensive but totally worth it. And everyone I encountered from the company was pleasant. read more

So how does a window save a marriage? My darling likes to keep the windows closed at night for security reasons. I on the other hand like to have the windows open -- even just a little to get fresh air. After looking around and never finding what I wanted, I called Window Fix for an appointment. Originally, I spoke with Lou who was very professional and said absolutely they could make the window I designed. After making an appointment, Richie came on time, took the necessary measurements and went over all the options. I never knew there were so many types of glass and window choices. He was very patient to explain all the differences to me. After receiving the quote and giving them the job another man, Ernie came to take more precise measurements. Again, having the patience's of the Saints, explained everything to me to make sure we were on the same page. Six weeks later my window arrived and it is more beautiful than I could even imagine. Believe me I was nervous!! The installers were professional they put paper down and they clean up the entire area. They even vacuumed after they finished. So, now you probably wanted to know what I ordered.... A casement window with a butterfly opening with an smalll awning window on top to allow ventiation. The installers asked me were I saw this window as he had been installing windows for thirty years and never did he see one like this before -- I said it was "always in my mind" but I could never find someone to make it for me. My husband was not happy that I wanted a new window but now that it is done, he is happy we did it. He loves the look! He loves that I am thrilled beyond my words that I finally have the window of my dreams!! We love that we are able to both sleep at night in peace. Thank you all at Window -Fix!!! read more

These guys suck. If I could give them no stars I would. Wasted many hours just trying to get a quote. They give a 4 hour appointment window and then rather than just show up as arranged they'll call 30 minutes before the end of the 4 hour window to let you know they'll be late or to call them back. If you call them back you get a full voicemail box and then they don't show up. Who knows whether they're any good at actually installing Windows or screens but if they're as good at appointments I'd imagine they're pretty awful. Call someone else, life's too short. read more

Measured twice to make bug screens for my windows. Only 1 of 4 screen can cover my window after first measurement. And still have 1 screen not fully cover my window after second measurement. Don't wanna waste time on waiting at home to have third measurement, so will just let it be. The other 3 screens are good. read more

I couldn't be more pleased with Window Fix's response to an unfortunate incident. While repairing a broken window pane a worker damaged an expensive window treatment. Expecting a giant hassle after reading some of the previous comments on Yelp I was already mentally preparing a "lawyer letter" When I called to discuss repairing the damage, Ernie, the CEO. couldn't have been more accommodating. When it was apparent that the damaged shade could not be repaired Window Fix promptly replaced it with the identical Hunter Douglas shade. This is a company that stands behind its work. read more

I have used window - fix for the second time now, and I am completely satisfied. I had 5 sashes replaced by a nice young man, he came in, did what he needed to do, and left. He even tightened a few of my springs so the windows wouldnt slide down. The original window company our windows in the apartment came from has long gone out of business, wonder why...all the bronze faded, and all our double panes got fogged. Window-fix replaced 9 Windows on the front of my building on Court street in Carroll Gardens and I couldn't be happier. Ernie, who is the owner helped with invaluable advice and helped me choose the perfect Marvin window for my project. His pricing was not only competitive, but if I factor in the level of service and consultation that I received for the price, it was an outright bargain. In summary, they are absolutely incompetent I had a problem with an electric rolling shade and asked them to see if they could fix it. They took 2 weeks to send me a proposal and told me that the shade needed to be replaced and the cost was $1,500. I decided to see if I could fix it myself and found a little button inside of the shade that I decided to press....and the shade was fixed. Either they are the most incompetent people out there or they tried to take advantage of me... PD: I later received a call from them apologizing saying that they didn't try to screw me and it was just a mistake in their assesment. I brought in 4 window sashes to have them replace the thermopane glass. Not only were they able to do it while I waited they did it at a fraction of the price I was quoted elsewhere . The people are super nice and real professionals. This place is the real deal the y have the latest in high Tec fabricating and cutting equipment . This is the place other glass companies probably send there work out to. Off the beaten path in an industrial area but have a Mobil service for a bit more money for those they don't have their on transport there . read more

Window Fix solved a problem I had giving my dog outdoor access. They did this by providing me with a special door that allows her to easily leave the house and enter my fenced in property. I am a building contractor in New York and I call these guys all the time.I do everything from welding to highend wood work. I even do my own HVAC work but I don't like to mess around with these old windows, Window Fix has all the parts and will be able to fix any problem. One of the worst and least professional companies I have ever dealt with! Expect long waiting periods with no response.Terrible service. Avoid at all costs. After taking my deposit it took them seven weeks to order and receive the glass. During the seven weeks I called several times to check if the glass was in and was told that someone would call me back the next day. They never called back and I had to call again to find out that they were still waiting on the glass. When I finally scheduled the installation the installer was supposed to call me when they were on their way to me as the most specific time they could give me was "Tuesday afternoon sometime". (Un)fortunately I was home when they arrived. They removed six windows and disappeared into the basement for while. When they returned my Super who was overseeing them told me that the glass they were trying to install was 3/4" but the original was 1". They wanted to install it anyway (using "spacers") but he rightly wouldn't permit it. They told me since it was late in the day they would just put the windows back without totally securing them as they would be back next week with the correct glass (don't ask me how they could now get the glass so quickly). The next day when I didn't receive a call to reschedule as promised, I called the owner (who by the way was the idiot that measured the glass size and thickness originally). He told me they were no longer interested in doing the job and they would refund my money. I told him I needed the windows put back correctly and we scheduled another "afternoon" appointment. On the day of the appointment most of the afternoon went by and no one called or showed up. As it got later and later I called to confirm they were still coming and was assured they would come. At 4:45 I called them to say no one was here yet as was told "they are not going to make it today but will come FIRST THING tomorrow". No one showed the next morning and finally around 3:00 ONE guy showed up (of course without calling first as again promised). I showed him what needed to be re-done and he told me that was a two man job and would require suction cups (which he didn't have with him). Ultimately the Super helped him as the second man and they used the Supers suction cups. Of course they didn't refund my money even after calling them twice more to remind them. Only after initiating a charge dispute with my credit card company did they finally refund the deposit. In the end I am glad they didn't do the job as I am sure I would have had some type of problem or leak in the near future. Stay away from them!!!! read more

We just had six massive windows replaced in our apartment, and WindowFix was so easy to deal with start to finish. First they came over for a measuring session, then gave us an estimate of 6-8 weeks, and our windows were indeed ready within that time. They had initially scheduled four days for the install, but it only took 3 days and the two men installing the windows were awesome - efficient, diligent, and incredibly clean. We are very happy with the results, and the price was right in line with what we were expecting to pay for 108" double-paned windows. I have never had such awful service. I initially called Window-fix in the beginning of July. They sent a contract that overcharged. They adjusted the fee to almost half and I was promised the screen door for my sliding doors two weeks. I paid a 50% deposit. After a month and a half it finally arrived...wrong! The handle was for a door that opened left to right not right to left as I needed. "Jeff" who measured, was the supervisor, and I could never contact him it is now almost October and still no door and no one to speak to. This has been the worst experience!! After some initial hiccups, a team of professionals took over to ensure that the best possible weather stripping was installed. While the first two companies were totally apathetic, not caring whether they received my business or not, Window Fix demonstrated exceptional regard for satisfying this customer. Hate to write poor reviews but I felt I needed to share my experience. We have used Windowfix in the past and were very satisfied with the service and pricing. When our tempered glass double pane window broke, I called to request an estimate. Got a quote which seemed reasonable and tried to order the replacement pane. Lou said he'd send someone to the location to measure the glass, as it was a custom order. Few days later... no one came. Called to ask about the service. Said we were scheduled for the next day. No one came. Hmmm felt like they forgot about us. Emailed again. After the technician arrived and measured the glass, we received the "real" quote to get the glass replaced. It was more than DOUBLE the original estimate. Now, I understand estimates are hard to pinpoint with just a picture, but since glass is your business, shouldn't your quotes be more accurate? I asked for an explanation as to why the price was so much more, and the answer was "this is what management told me". I think responses to valid customer questions need to be better than that. I was not asking for a discount, just an explanation. Tried to contact the owner directly (as he has responded to some other negative reviews on yelp), but he didn't pick up and I didn't receive a call back. On Nov. 1st , the company estimator came and inspected the two wood windows that needed repairs in my apartment. The guy arrived surprisingly early around 1pm (wait time scheduled between 1pm and 5pm). He was professional, appeared very detailed oriented in taking pictures of my windows with his iPad and noting the measurements. It took the company a couple days to get back to me after I made a phone call asking where's my quote. I was horrified when I opened the email and they quoted me almost $1,000 (including tax) to shim, replace jam liners and change balances. Are you kidding me??!! They are price gouging this job! Also, there's a $45 fee to come in for an estimate. I was aware, but took a chance since one of the apartments used them to fix a similar window problem a few years ago and I assumed their quote will be reasonable. I should have listened to the past reviews on YELP instead I gave this company benefit of the doubt. AND, a red flag should have been raised, when the estimator and the folks at the office asked me who will be responsible in paying for the repairs... the building management or me. Does it matter? Do they quote different prices based on who pays? WTF??!! There are MUCH reasonable prices out there. Don't bother calling them because you will end up wasting your time waiting for them to come back on a joke of a quote and wasting your $45. I called to have a window repaired and was told that they would charge $45 no matter what, and my window repair should have been about $100, so I agreed. The repair guy shows up very late, then informs me that their minimum is $150!!! No one at Window-Fix mentioned this, as I would have not used them for the repair. I called them to find out why this is not mentioned, and was told that they don't discuss pricing on the phone. I pointed out that this is unethical and misleading, and they then agreed to send me a refund of $45. Well, they still haven't sent the refund. AVOID THIS COMPANY!!! read more
