I called to have a window repaired and was told that they would charge $45 no matter what, and my window repair should have been about $100, so I agreed. The repair guy shows up very late, then informs me that their minimum is $150!!! No one at Window-Fix mentioned this, as I would have not used them for the repair. I called them to find out why this is not mentioned, and was told that they don't discuss pricing on the phone. I pointed out that this is unethical and misleading, and they then agreed to send me a refund of $45. Well, they still haven't sent the refund. AVOID THIS COMPANY!!! read more

Had an appointment at 6:00PM which was canceled at 5:45PM right before Thanksgiving weekend meaning I can not find another company to come out and do the job even though I am one block away from them. beware of window fix. i had a problem in my home with doors not opening or closing properly. i called window fix to help me and they sent benito to my home. he was very professional and on time. i was very happy with the quick response. he quoted me $525.00 to fix each door. i had three doors to fix. i questioned the price and also questioned what type of repairs they were going to do to fix them. they did not call me back. i had the doors fixed with a verrrrry sophisticated tool (an allen wrench) which was inserted into the hinge to tighten up the insides. each door took 20 minutes to repair. they open and close perfectly. end of my story jerry g read more

On Wed. May 2, Rich, the company estimator, came to my coop apt. to give me the price of repairing a tilt window in the bedroom. He gave me a written estimate for the total replacement of pivot and balance ($80x2= $160 + tax) He suggested we consider doing all 11 windows ($64x2=$128+tax) for $1400. He stated that he would be able to do the work on the next day, either all for $1400 or try one for $160. Thurs. was inconvenient, so I called to make an appt. for next week to do one window first and then consider doing all 11, as suggested. I was told that they were waiting for the appraisal. Finally the appraisal was sent to me on May 9 ($246 for one and 1,856 for 11) I asked what is the reason for the difference and was first told that it was the tax, which I pointed out was incorrect, then told that the estimator forgot to include the pivots. I faxed my written estimate, showing the inclusion of balance and pivots. Roberta told me that Rich would call me that day. He did not. I called twice more and was finally told that Rich did not want to call and that James insisted that the cost would be what he sent and the appraisal given to me by the appraiser of the company was meaningless. Do not do business with Window-Fix. Not only are they incompetent, but also dishonest and have no respect for their customers. Be careful! Window Fix-it did fix a sash window that was stuck. In doing so, the "technicians" lifted the marble ledge below the window, then brought it to me, saying it was broken. To my mind, it had not been broken before they pulled it up. Despite having a certificate of insurance, the company refused to pay for the costly repair, and the technicians claimed they had not broken it. read more

I was scheduled to have glass replaced/cleaned up with this company, however when the technician arrived to take measurements and he (very unprofessionally) told me that they could not complete the work that was included in the quote. Furthermore, they require a 50% deposit before coming to do any measurements which is completely absurd. Needless to say, I am not having work done with them and I am getting my money back. Had a good experience with Window Fix. Had a ten year old Citi Proof Window (heavy duty quiet window) that needed balances and shoes fixed as well as a new tilt lock installed. Had to have this done quickly as was getting ready for an apartment close. They came the next day to review the work needed, sent a quote immediately and returned the following day to complete the work. Did not have time to shop around as others didn't have an appointment for another week or later. Thought their work was of good quality. Heavy duty balances were difficult to get according to my Super so it was definitely worth it to go with a professional firm who could address this immediately. This is the most unprofessional company. I made what I thought was an appointment for them to give me an estimate for storm windows. They never showed up. When I called to inquire I was told that the estimator was in traffic in New Jersey (I'm in Brooklyn) and that he wouldn't be there. After I called to find out what happened (they didn't call me to tell me) the guy who answered apologized but then would not give me any assurance that it wouldn't happen again if I take off from work, and then yelled "do you want him to come or not lady" and hung up the phone. It was only then that I remembered that this was why I had not used this company years ago, because they stood me up then. I have to say that Window Fix was the only, yes the only ones ....who was actually able to fix my front Bay Window. I had other estimates that said that my window was impossible to fix...but they made my window like brand new!! People I tell you...don't listen to others who want to take advantage of you...if your window can be repaired this is the place to go with the most professional workers that make sure all is done exceptionally well before they leave you. They are so kind and answer all your questions and I am so pleased. Believe me...these are the people to call if you need a fix or if that is not possible a replacement.....only call them. The worst! I own a house, so I am used to paying large sums for repairs (plumbing, electrical, etc.); I always pay. But that's because they actually do the repair. In this case, my condo has a window that doesn't close. The management company called Window Fix. They came, said they could repair it, but it would cost $320. And they gave me a rather detailed invoice of the particulars. I paid a deposit (half), and they removed two screws--yes, two screws--and then took off the arm that prevents the window from opening too wide, said they'd return to finish the job. Never returned, but they did charge my credit card the balance. So I paid a total $320 for a guy to take out two screws. Called them to complain, asking for a refund. No dice. Won't return to finish the repair either. Just the worst. By the way, I never, ever write reviews on yelp, but this time I could not resist. Avoid, avoid, avoid, avoid, avoid. read more

This company is completely incompetent. Our company hired them on a townhouse renovation to re-install two stained glass windows that had been removed for restoration, as well as to install a fixed panel of glass inside one of the windows to protect the antique glass panel from steam, etc. in a bathroom. The company installed one of the stained glass windows upside down and nailed the window into the frame so it couldn't be removed or placed right-side up. In the bathroom the window was installed crooked, with screws haphazardly driven through a brand new custom made mahogany frame, and the screw heads left sticking up out of the frame. They came back without scheduling with our project manager and installed the fixed panel of glass before the inside of the window box had been finish painted, and after installing the panel they caulked it with the caulking skills of a three year old. We initially asked them to come back to correct the work, but finally decided that we simply didn't want them back on the property and paid other contractors to correct their mistakes. I would recommend staying far, far away from these jokers. read more

It was communicated to me that the manufacturing of the doors would be delayed. It was not communicated to me, in advance of your install teams arrival, that only one set of doors would be installed that day. The locking mechanism was never addressed by your company since I never received a call back, even though it was within the warranty period. Your company did do the right think in reference to re-sealing both sets of doors in 2012/2013. The sealant failed and you did rectify that situation. I am greatly disappointed with the recent $300 quote that does not even make mention of the issue at hand. It only mentions adjusting the rollers and greasing the track. The doors move smoothly and sit fine. What about the water leaking into the tracks? If you could not address the water infiltration issue it should have been communicated to me. The issue was actually a gap in my siding that was allowing water into the one set of doors that needed to be re-sealed. read more

super shotty (rude) customer service. after the super rushed and borderline-impatient phone conversation I had to book the appointment, I took the entire day off to wait for the 1-5pm offered time-frame to get window screen measurements. at 12:11pm someone called me versus buzzed my apartment where I was waiting for them. then I called them back 20minutes later, and the guy (with an attitude) said he had just left the area. I told him we had a 1pm-5pm window and he got agitated and said that he showed up - even though my exact address was provided and never attempted to be reached/buzzed. he then offered to try to send someone else and call me back later, but I got such a negative vibe from the conversation I would never have one of their people come to measure as I wouldn't want that negativity in my space. it's too bad, as this could be a really thriving business for the owner. I hadn't come across many companies that provide these services (now I will be looking) and either someone at this company is cutting corners providing bad pay, or the people hiring don't care who they hire or discuss customer service ethics. disappointing. read more
