So this place needs to actually be called out. Yes - it's in the coolest building in Windsor. Yes - everything about the vibe inside and bar is great. Yes - the brewery above and location are great. But if we are for realz talking the food, then go down the street to Hearth. This place has bar food and that's it's. It's overpriced. Is it good ? Sure. It's bar Food though. Just normal, burgers and sandwiches and some entrees that aren't that good. I will say the cocktail list is good and would be worth your while to get a drink there, however the food is a hard pass if you are looking for a good food experience. It gets lumped in with everything else good happening in the same building and the good experience here is below average for a "good dinner". Lots of times they are out of entrees also. We stopped in to grab a drink and dinner with out even realizing it was the night of their Halloween party. So because of that I'm not going to be as harsh on the service as I would of otherwise. I rarely order cocktails when I'm out, but decided to give their old fashioned a try and I'm happy I did. Was probably one of the best old fashions I've ever gotten - it was well balanced and not overly sweet like they normally are. So good, I got two. We got the deviled egg appetizer, and they were pretty ok. However, everyone enjoyed their dinners. I got the meatloaf, my wife got a bowl clam chowder and the special which was shrimp tacos, my daughter got the sheppards pie. The chowder was a bit different, but my wife really enjoyed. Have been here twice but forgot to review first time. Went here on a Sunday afternoon for a quick family lunch. We started with some cheese curds and a mule. The cheese curds come with a lemon dip which not everyone may like but still tasty. My kiddo ordered the sweet beignets which are good other than a bit much on the powdered sugar. I had fried chicken sandwich which was tasty although is thigh meat so you have to like that. The fries were better the first time. The lower level Windsor Mill Tavern seems to be primarily a tavern (duh), but they have a decent menu too. Our waiter was friendly and quite attentive. The deviled eggs were prepared well, but I did expect more flavor in the deviling based on the description. Bison Philly was excellent though, as was the half of my wife's Tavern burger that I ate. I really have to call out their fries. Their like semi circular chips in shape , but with a thickness of between chips and fries. They aren't greasy. And the texture is "dense pillowy" that somehow exceeds both chips and fries in how good they were. Paired the the chipotle dipping sauce was just great. read more

A friend recommended this place after having asked where to go for our anniversary tonight. Staff was very accommodating, friendly and we were very impressed with the various textures inside the restaurant creating atmosphere and decor. Seems there is also a side room for wine tasting? I meant to ask about that room. Our waitress, Brittani, was the BEST, attentive, kind and helpful. They provide a very relaxed, un rushed service, while still being attentive, not as though you feel left. The food was delicious! Brussels sprouts and butternut squash appetizer, game sloppy joe and mac and cheese with bacon! To dessert of bread pudding...man, so good. They definitely earn the fifth star from me. They took my suggestion and now include fries with the burgers and sandwiches with a $0.95 increase, but I feel that's a much better deal now. We visited as soon as they were allowed to open after the Covid closures. My significant other had the chicken tenders with the sidewinder fries - also really good. We went back to Windsor Mill Tavern two more times in the next 8 days! I got the Kyoda Shrimp (crispy shrimp with sweet & spicy dressing). I also got the small wedge salad but with ranch instead of the vinaigrette that comes with it. That was so good that the third time we went I got the same thing. My significant other had the Crispy Chicken Sandwich (Crispy Chicken Thighs, Mixed Greens, Tomato, Shallots, Pickles, Lemon Aioli, Fries) - Delish! Can't really go wrong with the food here. It's all good and it makes me want to keep going back! We had a great experience here! We sat outside in the extended area and it was wonderful had the area to ourselves and were able to relax. Our waiter Cody was wonderful and met one of the owners. We choose this place because it was our anniversary and we wanted some apps, drinks, and dessert, and a place to relax. This place had everything we wanted! Would totally recommend the drink make me disappear it was tasty! I am not a huge sauce person but the thyme aoli was actually really good with the fries. Then there was the dessert! It is better than churros and better than donuts. It was so delish and the Carmel filling was perfect and it is paired with a housemade ice cream that went perfect with it! My husband and I love going to this cozy tavern with its brick walls and comfortable seating. Every single dish that we've had has been cooked to perfection! Heard good things about this restaurant from friends and reviews on line. Place was clean and waitstaff was friendly and attentive. Ordered 3 items and one drink. Brussel sprout /butternut squash appetizer with bacon. Squash was not cooked and practically raw. Dish had so much grease /oil that it pooled in the bottom of the dish. There was no seasoning besides the oil. Ruben was soggy and corned beef had way too many highly fatty pieces. I expect corned beef to have some fat as its just part of the cut of the meat. The Ms. had the Ahi Tuna Salad with peanut dressing. The tuna had no sear on it whatsoever and was basically was sashimi with a few sesame seeds. No peanut sauce on the plate. Doubt we will go back. First what a great and chill hang out spot, the lighting is great and the people are fun. The bar staff was quick, friendly, knowledgeable and can make one heck of a cocktail. Stopped in last night and was surprised how full they were, but it never felt crowded. We ordered cocktails before ordering a light snack. My friend ordered the pot pie....a deconstructed pot pie at that. I heard it was incredible. I ordered the portobello caprece salad. It was excellent, except for one thing. I've never had a Caprese that small. It had one very very thin slice of portobell, one tomato and one small slice of mozzarella. At $12 I don't expect a lot, but wow. Once upon a time, there was a really old building. And in that building was a cool, and probably haunted basement. The story doesn't end there! In this wonderful basement lived all kinds of fantastic foods who were not content with their normalness, so they transformed themselves into something more. Spicy little pork chops danced around, convinced they were 'wings'. A beautiful pile of Nachos pranced about a green meadow, the chips magically transforming into baked pieces of tortilla. There was a mighty castle, built not of stone but square shaped cheese curds. Brussel Sprouts, Sweet Potato, and Apple rods lived together in sweet, sweet harmony. There were also deviled eggs, but since they were much more boring and content to be themselves than their wonderful magical neighbors, we shan't speak of them. read more

I came here to talk about how delicious their cocktails are. Particularly the something "goose" drink. It sounded so odd at first but it was so unique and perfectly delicious and refreshing. The food was delicious too, we got sandwiches and burgers and they were massive. You also can't go wrong with the flatbreads. Both are delicious and perfect for starters and sharing. Tried coming to sit at bar and have a few drinks. First I do not understand why the host stand is outside in 33 degree weather when there's also one inside. We never made it in because the hostess disappeared. Waited a long time in cold weather then left.
