The staff as I've mentioned before is unrivaled. Leslie, Kat, Kelly, and Ben make each visit special. It's more than just the magnificent wines and their knowledge. We really enjoy speaking with them and hearing their insights on the local area, plus just general life talk. We were pleased to meet a new member today, Alyssa, who will be replacing Ben as Tasting Manager. Ben is moving on to other things with AO. Alyssa was nice enough to come over and speak with us, and I feel she going to be a welcome addition to the Collective. For the first-time reader of one of my AO reviews, this location is incredible. Pefectly placed on the corner of the main drag. The heart of Downtown Napa for any of our visits. Excellent for relaxing and people watching. The room is gorgeous and maintained beautifully. Quality/Quantity - I had a hard time with the website making my appointment, it's a user issue as I am just not tech savvy. So I called and someone actually answered the phone and made my appointment for me, THANK you! We arrived 15 mins early, so we hung out in the lobby reading all the history, etc. Then Skip took us to the best view overlooking the vineyard for our tasting; see pictures! We sampled almost ALL the reds! All of which were good. See pictures. I like the fact that we did side by side tastings of many of his wines. My favorites were the 2022 Primitivo and 2021 Malbec, which we bought a few bottles of. Ambiance - Secluded private winery. Close to main Downtown Napa, but far enough away for privacy and a feeling of being far away. Appointment only, so very private and customer focused. Typically no more than 3 parties at a time. Today was considered a very busy day as there were 4 parties including us, lol. Gated private estate. 200 acres. Plenty of parking, especially since hosting only 3 guests at a time. Events - See their website. Well behaved dogs are allowed outdoors. Service - Skip is a history buff and we both talked for hours... After leaving, well really the next day (LOL), I realized that our tasting was supposed to be only 60 minutes. I guess because we got along so well, we stayed until closing! And he gave me a glass with a generous splash and let us walk the property alone after they left! So welcoming and trusting. Price - Depends on which tasting and what you buy; see their website for prices. Tastings range from $50 to $100 per person. One free designated driver allowed. We met him at a wine pop up in downtown Napa and he invited us to the tasting room after! He spent a gracious amount of time talking to us about the winery, the history of wine and even showed us the vines/grapes. He and Jim made it such a great experience for us! We were able to grab a spot on the lovely front patio, which ended up being perfect. Patrick, the GM, also came over and chatted with us for a while about all sorts of things. He is such a lovely person - bright, personable, and genuinely passionate about what he does. You can tell he really cares about the experience people have here, and he does it so well. The charcuterie board was incredibly generous and absolutely delicious! I had a glass of bubbles, and my husband had one of the Cabs, which was SO good. Next time, I'll definitely make a reservation for the rooftop since I hear it books up quickly. I also really want to come back for one of their wax-dipping classes - it sounds like such a fun experience, and you can find the details on their website. We ordered one of their woodfired pizzas and a bottle of the Sauvignon Blanc and sat out at one of the "stall" type seating areas. The pizza was outstanding and so was the Sauv Blanc. We did not try any of the other wines yet, but we will absolutely be back, again. While we just stopped in for a bite to eat, I can see how this would be a wonderful location for private and public events. A truly fabulous 5-star experience at Clos du Val Winery!…read more We were warmly greeted by Ani--with a glass of rosé already in hand (such a perfect welcome!)--and then beautifully hosted by the fabulous Cynthia, who made our visit so special from start to finish. My daughter Chandra, her friend Chrissie, and I were celebrating an all-girls early birthday weekend (for both Chandra and me), and we couldn't have picked a better final stop. Clos du Val absolutely did not disappoint! Every wine was outstanding--from the crisp, refreshing Estate Sauvignon Blanc (the perfect summer pool wine!) to the delicious Malbec and elegant Yettalil. And of course, I couldn't resist taking home a magnum of the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon--simply exceptional. Not surprisingly, we left with a full case of wine and the happiest memories. A perfect ending to a beautiful Napa weekend--highly recommend!
