I know this is the least of a lot of people's problems but my AC was blowing warm air. I've been driving with the windows down, trying to keep my hair out of my face and not get that's weird air sound when only the back windows are down. I called different auto shops to ask if they could recharge my AC, but because my car has the newer Freon, or something, a lot of shops weren't able to recharge it. Desperately, I called the dealership and was going to eat the cost of whatever they told me. I decided I was going to try one more time. That one more time couldn't recharge my AC either, BUT they told me to go to Kenny's, a few shops down from theirs. And I'm glad I did! Patrick helped me and was so nice. He even offered to shuttle me to the mall so I wouldn't have to wait at the shop for two hours! He quoted me a price and a pick up time and both came in under what he said originally. I wasn't too happy this shop today. Originally, I went here for a smog check. I talked to whom I presume is the manager (his name is mentioned in other reviews, but per Yelp rules I won't be mentioning names) I needed additional work done on my 2012 Chevy Silverado. I just needed 3 things. Oil change, Spark plug/Wire change, and a repair on my front passenger tire. Upselling began immediately, without having even looked or listened to my car. This mechanic said I needed some oil treatment, and fuel injector cleaner for another $300. Fine.. Even with these 3 easy things, he wanted me to leave my car overnight. Fine.. My front tire needed attention, but he called me to tell me, "Your rear brake pads are down to 20%" Dude! Why are you looking at the rear wheels when you were asked to look at the front? I recently had these replaced a year ago. I telework, I hardly drive anywhere... He tried to upsell me on a new tire instead of patching the one I had. I refused. He told me "Your oil pan is leaking" There's not a spot on my driveway. "You're low on coolant, you have a leak" I just looked, I'm not out of coolant, I don't have a catastrophic leak, just normal evaporation after several years. He could have topped off my fluids, but instead tried to make an upsell out of it. In total, he wanted to upsell me to the tune of around $600, when I only came in for what was quoted as about $900 in work. I've done my own car work for years. When I was younger, I swapped several L20B engines in my Datsun 510. Used to do my own oil changes and tune ups. Used to set points with a timing gun. You kind of get older, and things like oil disposal get problematic. You can't squeeze under a car like you used to, so you pay a mechanic to do that work. Your own personal extensive knowledge lets know when someone is being honest, or not. I will not come here again. It's just aggravating to have someone try to slick talk you when you know better. read more

I needed a Star Station Smog Check for my Acura TSX about 2 years ago. Patrick & Qui serviced me. I came into the auto repair shop and filled out the form regarding contact and vehicle information. Qui inspected my car after the smog check and recommended that I needed to replace a lot of components to keep the car running for a long time if I plan to keep it. I love my car and didn't want to buy a new car. The car reached 80k miles and a lot of fixing needed to be done due to the natural wear and tear. I had my tune up, engine oil, transmission fluid, brake fluid, timing chain cover, brake pads and rotors, struts, spark plugs, alternator, tire rotation, A/C work, and many other things fixed over time because car repairs can be quite costly. Much much more CHEAPER compared to the dealer's labor and part repair costs for sure. Patrick is very friendly and kind. Qui is very knowledgeable and has been fixing all sorts of cars for over 25 years now. He was showing me the issues with the car and explained why the things needed to be replaced, so that I can understand. So patient and nice. I know more about cars now more than ever. Never had an issues with the car whenever I got my car and family/friends/coworkers' cars serviced here. I recommend scheduling an appointment with Qui or Patrick since they are VERY BUSY. They need time to work on your car if you want a QUALITY job done. Don't rush them. Leave your car and they will call you when it's ready. You can even check in with them as well. Friends and family never had any issues with Patrick or Qui. They worked on all sorts of cars like BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Lexus, Volvo, Mazda, Toyota, and many more. YOU NAME IT. We all TRUST Patrick & Qui so we just drop our cars off here and have them inspect/work on it. The labor and parts cost are FAIR. They saved us a lot of money. We are all grateful and appreciate Qui & Patrick's hard work and time that they put into our cars. I only hear great things about them and that's why we are writing them this extensive review to show our love for them. We all come by so often that we got to know Patrick & Qui over the two years so well. Qui is an absolute MASTER TECHNICIAN! I just found out that Qui can also work on diesel cars. There is an auto body shop next door to Patrick & Qui's auto repair shop. I believe Kenny is the one who manages that side. Quality car work takes time. Just like good food takes time! My family has been bringing our cars for repairs for many years. However, I stopped bringing in my car a long time ago due to poor customer service from Kenny and unnecessary costly repairs . I recently needed some car service near where I live so I decided to give them another try since they have new people working there. BAD CHOICE, TAKE MY ADVICE, FIND ANOTHER TRUSTWORTHY MECHANIC. I needed an oil change, one tire change and a smog check. Smog check is a ripoff, they charge more than other places. There's another smog check in that same area that I would recommend going to that charges less. I dropped my car off early in the morning around 7:00 a.m. They called me around 10:00 am recommending I get a bunch of fluid exchanges/flushes, replace strut, etc. I looked up some of these parts today, they overcharged me and inflated the prices compared to online. Also told me I should get my timing belt changed. Except I got my timing belt changed 4-5 years ago from a different mechanic so I knew they just wanted to run up the bill on me. I was told my car wouldn't be ready until the next day, so pretty much no car for two days. The best part was no one called me to let me know when my car was ready. I had to call late afternoon.....Patrick picks up and says, oh yeah, it's ready, you can come by and gives me the total price. Wow, thanks for letting me know! I come by, after waiting about 10-15 minutes someone finally comes by to give me the bill to pay for. I look through it and realize they're charging me close to $200 more than what they said on the phone. Their response? Oh yeah, sorry, we did an additional power steering fluid flush but forgot to tell you. I decided, you know what, I just want to pay, get my car and go home. Except the guy can't find my key. Finally he says, just wait a few minutes, they'll bring it around soon. So I wait. And wait. And wait. I see a few other customers come to pick up their cars and only have to wait 5-10 minutes. Me? Had to wait 30 minutes before my car gets backed out of their garage. Their response? "Sorry for the long wait, it's a busy day, see you again yeah?" I'm already pretty peeved when I get in my car and realize it reeks of cigarettes. To be honest, I'm not sure these guys actually did any work on my car, they could've just left it in their garage and smoked cigarettes all day. Why would you try to rip me off and give such horrible customer service? I'm embarrassed to have to write this review but I hope they realize it's not ok to do this to hard-working people. read more

With so many auto places to take your car to Id go anywhere other than Winfield Kenny Auto. Qui argues at every turn, over charge, does work that doesnt need to be done, and forgets to call you. Qui says I signed paperwork so he could do the work sorry Qui not in a million years. I have the paperwork in hand says DECLINED REPAIRS. Saved myself $1000 doing the change oil switch myself in 5m. If you know the pressure is good its just a switch, all I needed was a 20 socket and a wrench. My test on Winnfield Auto failed. read more

I came here to get a smog check done after my car failed smog at another auto shop. Qui did my smog check and my car passed. I told Qui that this other auto shop claimed that my intake manifold cracked and that I needed to replace it. I thought it was unusual because my car is still in good condition and it's 2013. Qui said that there is nothing wrong with my intake manifold and what the other auto shop claimed is false. I am so happy that I met Qui because I feel like I can trust him. Reasonable price. Excellent, excellent service. Although I got my first major service beginning of this year (45K maintenance), I actually came here once about 2 years ago because of my 30K maintenance checkup. First I took my car to another place closer to my house, got my checkup done there for a couple hundred, but they found another problem they couldn't figure out. They decided they wanted to charge me a couple hundred more to rebuild the differential (or change the seal or something), and I thought nooo way. so I took my car to Kenny's due to someone's recommendation. They took my car, figured out that it was just a few loose bolts in the back, charged me about $15 to tighten those things up, and I drove home the same day, clacking noise free. So of course, I had to come back for my 45K maintenance. I spelled out what I wanted them to do (according to my car manual) and they said they had the exact copy of my manual and knew what needed to be done. They at first estimated it to be a little over $100 for everything, but once they found out that I did in fact need some of my fluids replaced... they gave me a call to let me know, and it came out to be around $140. Still not bad for a checkup. Definitely coming for any future maintenance my car may need. read more

Super fast & efficient smog check service. Great prices too. I was surprised at cost when other charge more. I don't think I was there more than 20ish minutes total. Maybe they were slow on a Tuesday afternoon but I was so happy with the service. They were friendly. Giving Winfield Kenny Auto a "one star" was far to generous! A few months ago I took my vehicle to get worked on. Previously, I had gone in where Kenny told me what I needed done and made an appt. So the day came to take my vehicle in at 7AM. I was told by the end of day it would be ready and he would call me. The evening came and went and still no call. I figured a few more hours were needed. The next day still no call but I was out and about doing things. By the afternoon of the 3rd day, I attempted to call but got no answer, so I went in. Kenny had not even touched my vehicle and it was now parked in the street, unlocked! WTF, who leaves a customers vehicle unlocked?! Kenny had excuse after excuse to cover his incompetence as a automotive business owner but trusted him to finally do the right thing as he promised it would be done by the next day. Well, once again he failed to deliver as I let another 3 days go by with no phone call from him. I finally went in and he made up some lame excuse to why he still had not worked on the vehicle. I respectfully gave him my honest opinion as a dissatisfied customer and questioned him to how he thought it was ok to run a business like that. Honestly, he had nothing to say and acted like it was no big deal. He literally had my vehicle for about a week for a half a days work which never happened. Ridiculous! Beware!!! Horrible. I took this recommendation from a friend. Although he may have had wonderful service, I will never return. We went in for a regular (60K) service. The first omen was that they called and said they put oil in the spark plug hole (plugs were also getting replaced). Their solution was to run it for a day (and empty my gas tank) to burn off as much oil as possible. Ever drive a car burning that much oil? You create huge plumes of smoke as you accelerate. You make a lot of friends on the roads when your car smokes like a chimney. It took months to finally burn the oil off. I had to postpone the smog test, since there was no way it was going to pass. They didn't offer any discount for making my life miserable with the oil blunder, but he did sell us a set of tires (which we needed) at a discount. Upon picking up the car, three of the four tires had the "This Side In" facing the outside. Yes, they installed the tires incorrectly. As I learned, installing the tires incorrectly only degrades the ability to shed water, but had to be done before winter rains set. So, another day without the car to rotate the tires. It gets better. When they replaced the tires, they didn't replace the valve stems. The result, three flats over a period of 4 weeks. Three more appointments, and some nervous tire changes on the side of the freeway. The end result? I have a stack of documentation detailing my service follow-ups from my original call. One more issue, and I take them to small claims court. Buyer beware. read more

Brought my parents Acura MDX here roughly a couple months ago for an oil change because I couldn't get the oil drain plug off (must have over tightened it last change). Anyway, this is one of the nearest full service shops to home so I decided to give them a call after seeing overall good reviews. I believe it was something like $18 and I told them I was going to bring in my own oil and filter. I could have sworn that I told them this when I got there as well. Somehow they missed the oil and filter on the passenger side floor mat... Anyway, they still only charged me $18 and it wasn't until after I got in the car that I realized it. I was cool with it. Brought my truck in to check starter as it was not working sometimes and I was told that starter was fine and that it was my timing belt that needed replacement. I was quoted $1600 to replace it. When I went to pick up the truck I was told that once he got in there he discovered I had blown a valve so he repaired that also. I was told the starter was fine and he noted that on my receipt. $2400 and over a week later I got my truck back. While I thought he was overpriced I was happy to be back on the road. Two weeks later my truck wouldn't start. I brought it back to Kenny and he said that it was the starter. I reminded him I had brought the truck to him originally for that problem and he said that he had recommended that it be replaced and that I said don't replace it. I told him that he clearly stated on my invoice that the starter was fine and it was the timing belt he recommended be replaced. He said I must be lying. Then he said he would replace the starter if I wanted to leave the truck. Obviously I feel like I was not only ripped off but insulted. Now I wonder if I ever really needed the $2400 repair at all. Not an ethical guy and I would never recommend this business to anyone. read more

May fix your car for a decent price but at what cost? ALL OF YOUR TIME, stress galore, and downright awful customer service. I brought my car in to be serviced on Saturday, he says he will have a look at it and call me in 2 hours. I never got a call. I had to call on Monday. Patrick had my car for 4 days to fix a water pump. Told me to come in on Tuesday, it'll be $450. I call on Tuesday the first time at 3:40pm, no answer. I call again at 4:10 no answer. I'm literally just trying to pick up my car. I call again at 5:42pm an answering service offers me the owners direct line and I say "sure" and she says oh, no the owner doesn't like solicitation. And hung up. I tried calling back and they had BLOCKED MY NUMBER. So I end up going in to see what's going on. Patrick acts like he has no idea what's going on, and tells me that he said tomorrow. I am ABSOLUTELY astonished at the grossly poor level of customer service that is provided. He says to take the car and bring it back on the weekend. This is outrageous. Fix your lack of communication. This isn't the first time I've had these issues with this business, I've spent over $2000 total at this shop, but this will absolutely be the last time. I've been a fan of Kenny's Auto for more than ten years. Recently, I took a car for a smog check near where I work in Dublin. The shop was dishonest and tried to charge me for additional services that were not needed. I left without paying. Kenny smog checked the car again and it passed. All for a reasonable price. No complaints here! Our brakes needed to be worked on, so we called first thing on Saturday morning and our car was fixed within 2-3 hrs. They close early at 2:30pm on Saturdays but it was great to know they'd have the job completed in due time. Our bill was surprisingly lower than we expected and we'll be back in the future if we need more work done. We were just so tired of Midas and wanted to try another business. read more

I had a after market carbon fiber rear diffuser "bumper" installed on my 18 Camaro at Kenny's Auto and they did an excellent job. He was recommended by another auto shop who chooses not to work with any carbon fiber material because it's very fragile and expensive. Which was the exact reason I wouldn't ins it myself. I was completely satisfied that I had them also instal my carbon fiber hood and they did not disappoint. I shopped around because that's what I do and other shops just wanted to rip me off. They came in at not only reasonable but FAIR. I'll definitely recommend them and won't even think twice about going back. read more

Really disappointed. Their collision shop did an amazing job on my other car so I had confidence to try their auto repair. Took three visits over a month to get the transmission sorted. First: they changed the clutch and all seemed well. Barely an hour after picking up the car, it lost all power to the wheels when I was at 70mph on 880. I had my 11 year old son in the car and had to fly across three lanes of traffic while the car was decelerating to get into the service lane. Really scary. Then a cop came by and pushed me off the freeway a few mins later. Had to pay $150 to get it towed back to Kenny. Then he said a 'clip failed' but it wasn't his fault. Spent another $80. Three weeks later the same transmission issue recurred. Then he 'this time correctly' identified the master cylinder as the issue and replaced that. Charged me another $150 in parts but at least no labor. In the end the car is now ok. But I wonder whether I was incorrectly charged $1300 to replace the clutch when what was needed was the $150 master cylinder + 4 hours labor ($500?). He insists the clutch too was bad but we will never know. I have spent $1680 instead of what probably should have been $650. Won't be going back. I'd have expected him to refund at least 50% of the clutch job for me and cover my $150 towing charge to feel he handled it correctly despite his mistake and my near death experience on 880 with my son in the car. read more

Right off the bat, I have to say, "Go to Kenny!!" They do great work and for an incredibly reasonable price. My 2001 Durango overheated and broke down a couple miles from home one night. Not knowing a reliable place to go to other than the Dealer, the AAA tow truck driver recommended Kenny's Auto Service. He hadn't heard any details other than that Kenny gets a lot of repeat business. Which to me screams good work. The full business name is "Almaden Collision & Kenny's Auto Repair". The tow truck dropped off my truck at midnight and from there everything else was via phone. I'm more than familiar around a car, but don't have the time to work on a car and work too. Kenny knew a lot about the Durango after having two of his own, gave me an estimate and went to work. He then came back with recommendations as most mechanics do to generate business, but it was stuff that actually mattered and was cheap (oil change, and front brakes). He didn't try to sell me on work that I knew I needed such as the ABS repair. When I hit him up with a quote for that I told him to go for it. The work done was: -Thermostat and hose replacement -Pressure test -New radiator fluid -Oil Change -Front brake rotors turned and new pads -Rear differential drained, gears cleaned, new ABS brake sensor (it's located in the differential case on Durango's) All for $630. Now that might be a lot for some people, but considering all the labor involved that usually is the big chunk of any bill, this was extremely good. I'll never go back to the dealer again. The differential alone was quoted to me at Capital Dodge for $300 and Kenny charged me $180. You do the math. BTW... he does foreign jobs too. read more

They can do a great job at fixing vehicles , but their costumer service can be terrible. My sister took her vehicle into Kennys Auto Service and had a positive experience. However, upon calling with questions regarding my vehicle, the gentleman on the phone was rude, short, and informed me the damage on my car was body work and hung up before I could say another word. Based on my sister previous experience with the auto service I was inclined to take my vehicle here as well, but that is no longer the case (even though the work required on my vehicle can not be done at their location). I got my smog test done here and had a fantastic experience. I believe the friendly guy I worked with was Alan. Everything he did was done efficiently and in a clean, professional manner. The customer service interaction we had was also very pleasant & patient, especially when it came to answering my questions. At the end, he neatly stapled my papers quickly processed my CC payment with a smile (under his face mask). The price was better than fair and overall, I highly recommend this place! read more
