BEST BUTCHER SHOP AROUND -- HANDS DOWN!…read more Dorfler's Meats has been my go-to butcher shop for the past few years, and honestly, I can't imagine shopping anywhere else. From the moment you walk in, the owners and staff treat you like family -- not just customers. It's beyond refreshing to go to a meat shop that truly does it right, from start to finish. The quality is unmatched. I happily travel well out of my way just to stock up on their incredibly fresh meats, top-tier seafood, and the ready-made, home-cooked meals that make weeknights (and weekends) so much better. And let's not forget the deli counter -- WOW. The sandwiches are next-level delicious, and the homemade salads are always fresh, flavorful, and addictive. If you're shopping for the holidays, Dorfler's is an absolute must. Their Prime Tenderloin roasts are unreal -- exceptional quality, fair pricing, and you can truly tell how much care and craftsmanship goes on behind the scenes. It's the kind of place where excellence isn't an accident -- it's the standard. The staff is nothing but helpful, friendly, and genuinely kind. From outstanding customer service at the counter to unforgettable meals at my family's table, we have nothing but positive things to say about Dorfler's Meats. Thank you to everyone at Dorfler's for all you do to stay open, keep raising the bar, and continue showcasing exciting, seasonal products that we look forward to all year long. If you haven't been yet, you're missing out -- HIGHLY recommend!

BUYER BEWARE! Most of the staff is rude and the entire business is a scam. Find a local farmer and…read morepurchase meat from them instead. Our household shopped at Dorfler's for 13 years. It always felt a little strange that they never had pricing visible. Every other butcher I have ever been to since childhood has always had prices visible. You would go in, order, and pay whatever they charge you at checkout. But the products were good enough and I was happy to support a local business. Over the years we have ordered a beef tenderloin roast during the holiday season when it is on sale for $34.99/lb. It has always been very pricey but (as far as we know) we were never cheated on the price and the product the way we were this year. We ordered one 3lb beef tenderloin roast. We were explicit when placing the order that we wanted one piece of meat that was 3lbs. The person who took the order was rude but seemed to understand the request. When we got the roast home I did the math because the bill was a lot more than expected. We were charged over $41/lb. When I called to ask about why the price was so high I was put on hold and the rude man that picked up next told me "it's trimmed. We charge you for the weight before trimming." This means Dorfler's supposedly trimmed off about 3/4 lb of fat. That is a lot of fat to trim off of a 3lb roast and if I was going to be charged for it why was the fat not offered to me as part of my order? Unfortunately, we accepted this explanation. The roast was wrapped in butcher paper which we did not open because we put it straight in the freezer for a week before defrosting it. We finally opened the butcher paper on New Year's Eve to prepare the roast to have on New Year's Day and were appalled that Dorfler's clearly lied to us. There were 3lbs of meat in two small roast each vacuum sealed in plastic by their distributor. This means that Dorfler's not only WAY overcharged us for the amount of meat we received, they also charged us for 3/4lb of fat they never really trimmed off. I am not even sure why they bothered with the butcher paper at all, except they probably charged us for that, too. If I could give Dorfler's zero stars I would. Also the obvious direct response to this negative review is a pathetic attempt to save face regarding your tenderloin roast "sale." Patricia W. is likely related. Why else would she disagree with facts? Dorfler's is nothing but a lying bunch of cheats who screw their loyal customers every chance they get. Some just haven't figured it out yet. And now they blocked me on Facebook. Keep it up guys. You are proving how crooked you are and how you can't handle the truth being told about your disgusting business of cheating loyal customers.

We ordered fried Wisconsin Cheese Curds, and a small pizza with only cheese. The curds came pretty quickly with ranch dressing, and were very good. The rectangular pizza was cut into six squares, and had the dark browned cheesy edges as expected. It was really good! The cheese and sauce both tasted great, and edges were crunchy but did not taste burnt. Maybe the small menu is their secret to getting their food just right. If we are back in the area, we will return to Joanie's. NOTE that Joanie's was also operating a kiosk at the street festival; I don't know if this limited their menu selections at the restaurant. There is indoor and outdoor seating, with a nice view of trees and water behind the restaurant. They have their own parking lot, and there are also free, municipal lots nearby. (The pictured pizza was 4 of the total 6 squares.)

They offer thin crust, "Detroit" style, and hand tossed, the latter of which we ordered, so I can't claim knowledge of the styles we didn't try. Service was slow, not just for us; we noticed other tables waiting for attention. The waitperson who ultimately took our order, after a longish delay, and after telling us that someone (else) would be with us shortly, was excellent. I suspect we weren't actually her table, but that she filled in to pick up the slack. We took home the half pizza we hadn't finished, but it remains in the fridge two days later and will probably be tossed soon. Maybe lovely wife will eat it. I won't.

The restaurant is located in a cute little downtown area, and we had a wonderful time sitting outside on their patio. There is also a convenient parking lot right across the street, which made arrival a breeze. The service throughout our visit was fantastic. When I informed our server that I have celiac disease, they were attentive and accommodating. I ordered a glass of the Moscato and the gluten-free rigatoni, and it turned out to be one of the best plates of GF pasta I have ever had! I also really appreciated that they explicitly acknowledged my dish as gluten-free when it was set down at the table. Regarding the menu and bread service, items are not specifically marked as gluten-free on the menu, though a gluten-free pasta substitution is available. They didn't have or offer gluten-free bread for the table, and instead brought out regular bread. Overall, this is a fantastic spot for patio dining with incredible gluten-free pasta and attentive servers. With just a bit more awareness regarding dedicated GF bread for celiac guests, it would easily be a five-star experience. I will definitely be back!

The first tricky part is finding the entrance because it's not really obvious as expected in long grove There's no real signs. Further, the next tricky piece is finding parking if you can get it on the street or find it in the lot now luckily both are free. Once I managed to find a door to the place, it turned out to be the back door and so I had to climb up a bunch of stairs in order to get to the front part of the restaurant to actually check in for the reservation. And yes, please make a reservation. This place does get packed even for early times. The service was really friendly and very nice however, I will say overall the food was OK but nothing really standoffish. For example, if you look at the pictures of the food quite bluntly it just looks like they slapped food onto a plate. There's really no thought that's been put into the presentation. There's really been no thought also to just the pure amounts of cheese and sauce that are also creating a swimming pool on the plate. We ordered the grilled octopus for appetizer and even that was swimming in olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette and too much of everything I think the food is OK but nothing fantastic. Considering the overly saturated Chicagoland market of Italian restaurants I wouldn't necessarily say this was at the top of my list.

Best Gyro's, tzatziki & hummus!…read more I called around searching for a platter of gyros to get for my husband's Greek themed birthday party at home but I wanted a place that also had homemade hummus. This was the ONLY place I could find that had truly homemade hummus...everything there was homemade! Not only was the hummus to die for, the gyros were tender, moist and delicious. They had great flavor and were perfectly seasoned. I'm personally not even a gyro fan but I LOVED these! Of course my husband, the true gyro fan, thought they were amazing! We picked up a 1/2 pan of gyros, which is about 2.5 lbs of meat, a few hours before our party. I put it in a crockpot at home on low with a little water in the bottom and it was warm and fresh when we were ready to eat a few hours later. All of our guests raved about the food! Thanks!

The chicken kebab is incredible - so juicy and flavorful. The hummus is perfectly seasoned. Chicken and beef shawarma were both winners. Grape leaves were perfect and came in orders of a dozen! Pita was warm, fresh and fluffy. 10/10

Ok so there's no way to cancel the order, so I walk over and go in. Takes about 5 minutes before one of the two hostesses turns around to see what I need. I explain the situation and she says she can't cancel it, that I have to cancel it in the app. I explain that there is no cancel option. She says I don't know you have to do it in the app. I explain that I am not able to cancel it and try to show her... to which she says "I don't know I'm just the hostess". So I ask for the manager. The hostess Points to the bar and says "over there, the one in black". Well there appear to be three bartenders ALL IN BLACK!!! SMDH. So I ask which one, they are all wearing black. She lets me know exactly which of the three and I go to talk to the manager. I explain the situation *again*. The manager says to cancel it in the app. I explain again that I can't, and show her. She says she can cancel it but it will be about 5 minutes because she's making drinks. No problem, I tell her I'll wait up front. I go and wait up front. Couple minutes later.... Same hostess asks "do you still want those nachos?" (Are you kidding me?!?!) I tell her that I am waiting for the manager to cancel the order. She says "yeah I canceled it, the manager showed me how. Do you still want the nachos?" So I ask how long are they going to take? She says "a while" I ask "well how long is a while?" Hostess "I some know, a while " SO at this point I am not sure if I place another order if they will be ready tomorrow at 12:15 pm! I swear this is like a Saturday night live skit.
