Husband and I had a great experience at Winners BBQ. First thing, flow of the line - we arrived around 30 to 40 minutes after opening and there were about 4 guests in front of us but it moved very quickly. The cashier was on her game as far as efficiency goes. Prices at first seemed high ($38 for two) but when you finally get your meal it is worth it in portion size and taste. If you get a drink, you serve yourself and condiments and pickles are at another self-serve area. The dining room is definitely no frills but clean and pleasant - the music though...I've never been at a BBQ joint with Earth, Wind and Fire playing which I loveeeeed! Now the food - my two meat baked potato was divine! This is my go-to menu item and I'm always fist pumping when you can order more than 1 meat. The potato part was cooked to perfection and the balance of fixings, meat and potato were perfect. The potato was clearly the "winner" here cause I took 2/3rds of it home for later. Husband got the two meat plate with brisket and chicken and baked beans and mac & cheese. Delish...the chicken was great and that mac & cheese was the bomb dot com. We just got our food, 40 minutes after they opened. They served what appears to be 4-5oz of brisket for $14 with two veggies. At first glance, the brisket appeared dry. When I got to my table, it was room temperature and dry as a bone. This is 40 minutes after they opened, so it probably isn't going to get any better than this. Save your effort. The place is really nothing to see looks wise but that wouldn't matter if it was really good. It wasn't. I got the two meat meal which included Brisket, Ribs, Mac & Cheese, Baked Beans, and an RC Cola. Excluding the RC, the brisket was the best thing on my plate and it was just decent. It had about the right amount of fat for me and the flavor was pretty good but nothing to make a special trip to eat. The ribs... What did they do to the ribs? To me, it looked like they smoked them and then poured Mrs. Dash all over them. The seasoning was plentiful but it actually looked like it was added after they were cooked. Food is usually great although the service just ok. Last year, I catered from them to the office and noticed how disorganized this aspect of the business was. Since employees liked it so much, I decided to try the same this year. Big mistake. 4 days after emailing them requesting an estimate, I didn't receive an answer. I've been trying to call for days and finally they answered today. After placing my order and paying, she informs me they no longer deliver because they have new owners. DO NOT EAT here! I was a real fan of Winner's BBQ for years until over the Memorial Day holiday. I told my family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues about the place and how great their BBQ was, but these people are horrible. The food was so good that I made two orders on two different days. Unfortunately, I found plastic in my food in which I and my family chocked on and almost died. I called to inform them of this and the manager I spoke with allegedly spoke with the owners who informed me that only the cheaper order of $42.67 was supposedly refunded but I haven't seen a refund since and since the other order of $81.18 cost more I was told that order would not be refunded at all. The part that is unsettling was that I was told to bring the food back after driving 1 1/2 in the opposite direction when the plastic was discovered but I told my family to discard all the food. Also, the manager would not listen to word I had to say but kept making excuses that the plastic was in there because the cook was moving too fast. Not once did the manager offer to remake the food or offer me a credit or any other alternative which led me to believe that this has happened before and quite often. I then told the manager that I will go to the news outlets, BBB, and social media to expose Winners BBQ restaurants taking your money and not concerned with customer service or cared that I chocked on a piece of plastic (manager called it cellophane) and refused to refund my money since me and family chocked on plastic that was cooked into the meat. I think this restaurant chain has new owners, so I beg you please never go there because the customer service is atrocious and they only care about taking your money. Not too far from the office, and we'd heard good things, so the three amigo's stopped by to add it to our BBQ matrix. Atmosphere: kinda strange, but not necessarily bad. They have plenty of space, but not a lot of effort has gone into it, so lets call it ULTRA casual... Definitely not intimate nor romantic nor classy. Food: When the trays came out, we were excited - it looked great. But each successive bite lead to more disappointment. The pulled pork seemed like it might have been great, but ours were sprinkled with some sort of additional seasoned salt or rub salt or something. And quite a bit of it. It was almost crunchy, like sea salt. The three of us searched for how to describe it... in a word, it was distracting. The pulled pork might have been great, but we couldn't tell because we were couldn't get over/around/through this extra stuff. Side note: I'd ordered enough to have left overs the next day. This extra stuff has absorbed into the meat and is no longer distracting. It's still pretty heavily salted and seasoned, but at least it isn't distracting any more. The brisket was marginally better, but only because it didn't have the extra seasoning on there as a distraction. I found the bark and edge bits to be reasonable (and not overly chewy as someone else described), but the center part of the brisket seemed overdone... just like the random slice of dry'ish brisket you can get at any place that serves it. Nothing special. Ribs were kinda similar, and a bit on the tough side. Finally, the sausage was surprisingly bland (especially compared to everything else), and a bit mushy... overcooked maybe? I'm hoping that this was just a bad run of meat that stayed in the smoker too long (and someone picked up the wrong season shaker), cause I really, REALLY don't like writing bad reviews. I'll try to get by there again someday and keep my fingers crossed. Value: pretty much average for the BBQ scene, which considering the food, means something needs to change. read more

My son and I dined in a few years ago and the food was great. The owner and his stunning wife were regulars at my little cafe in Murphy and were always talking about their new business. Well, life happens and we moved a little further out where it was just a little too far to drive to. Today, we had a vendor get it catered for a company party and y'all. It. Was. Amazing. Everyone was asking where it came from and where the restaurant was located. The vendor said "I just pulled up the bbq place with the best ratings and ordered" and my heart filled with joy. So I got a potato with sausage which two sausage was okay potato was good macaroni and cheese I did not like at all beans are sweet but pretty good I just don't see the big reason why everyone should drive all the way to play know when do you live this far away from Rowlett to Plano and the meat was pretty good but it wasn't as good as everybody said there was a lot of fat on it.
