Visited recently and upon arrival the young lady at the register was very courteous and welcoming. The food however was not as good as I had anticipated. I got the 2 meat baked potatoe with beef and the sausages. My potatoe did not taste fresh and was a bit undercooked. The beef had a weird taste with an overwhelming amout of garlic and consisted mainly of fat trimmings. As for the sausages the werent as bad but were super greasy! Will not return! read more

This is the RUDEST establishment I have ever been. Don't get me wrong the food is bomb! It's the damn customer service that turns you off from this place. So rude, no manners, cursing at each other behind the counter. Such a turn off with all these things, just makes you say forget the food. Ate lunch here recently with some work colleagues. Service is a little impersonal and decidedly unfriendly, can tolerate that if the food is exceptional however. But this is nothing but average que at best. Prices seemed a little high for what you get, sides looked a bit old like they'd been sitting there a while. You won't find any surprises in this review. I agree with the majority. You have to eat here. Let me first acknowledge the negative comments I have read earlier about this place from other reviewers. Yes, the location is nondescript strip mall in East Plano. This is not a destination event like going to Deep Ellum and then enjoying good food at Pecan Lodge. No, you are going here specifically to eat at Winners because there is nothing else here worth going to but this place. The interior is cheap from the chairs, tables to wall decorations. Yes, because I think they save that money to hire good cooks who consistently make you good BBQ. The profits go back into quality food and not frou-frou curtains and fake plastic flowers. The sides are limited (beans, mac-n-cheese, potato salad, collard greens only on weekends). Yeah, I can't defend that. Of the sides, the beans are good (they are on the sweet side though) but the mac-n-cheese and potato salad are meh. I have yet to try the collard greens as they are only offered only weekends. Not enough seating. There is not enough seating because the word is out, the food is good and it brings the people in. Get here early or late to get a seat. Otherwise primetime lunch hour seating is iffy. Now, let's talk about the food. You can order by the pound or the 1, 2, or 3 meat plate. I never order the the 1 meat plate. I'm not on a diet. I go here to eat. I usually order the the 2 meat plate and I have finally determined the best 2 meat combo is the brisket and ribs. If you are a big eater, go for the 3 meat and get brisket, ribs, and sausage. Those are my favorites in order of preference. On this day, I got the brisket and pulled pork but wished I hadn't strayed and got the ribs instead. The pulled pork is ok/meh. I think it's bland and could use more apple cider vinegar or spice to give it kick. I ended up grabbing some jalepenos, onions, and BBQ sauce and mixing it into the pulled pork to make myself a sandwich with the two pieces of white bread they give you. When grabbing the BBQ sauce, put in in the sauce cup. Don't squirt it on your BBQ before tasting it. Don't be a savage. Taste your meat first and decide if it even needs it. The Winners BBQ sauce is sweet and slightly spicy so I don't mind dipping it. So yes you need to eat here. If you are lucky enough to work close by, grab some workmates and make it weekday lunch. It's good enough to put it in regular rotation. Otherwise spare a weekend and come here early Saturday. You can order the collard greens and tell me how it is but definitely get the 3 meat plate of briskets, ribs, and sausage. You can thank me later. read more

We felt like eating brisket and based on the reviews we chose this establishment. We were a bit disappointed with the brisket having quite a bit of fat in it. The ribs were great but didn't get to try the pulled pork as they had sold out. The baked potato was very filling and delicious. The mac and cheese was mediocre. The gal at the register wasn't the friendliest person in the world as we felt rushed to order and there was no one behind us in line. I would have given Winners a 5 star but they were out of all meats except Ribs at 4 pm. I ordered the ribs and while being pricey, a half rack for $15 with zero sides, there were enough to fill me up. Also, they were the best ribs I have ever had except maybe Porky's in Memphis. They were meaty and tender and had a fantastic sprinkling of seasoning that was both sweet and savory. Their sauce is served in squeeze bottles and is excellent. I did not have much sauce because the ribs with seasonings was even better. I wanted to try a three meat combo so I could sample the brisket and sausage. It will have to wait until next time. We give Winner's BBQ an 11 on a scale of 1 to 10. Winner's BBQ is the best BBQ I've had in my life. The ribs have a dry rub on them, they are very tender and juicy, the meat comes right off the bone as well. They don't even need BBQ sauce but if you do decide to add it's just an added bonus. The atmosphere is cool laid back with a nice selection of music playing. The prices are reasonable and the portions of the MVP potatoes can easily be more than one meal unless you plan on being in a food coma. I definitely would recommend anyone that has a taste for some good BBQ to try this place out, because they've set the bar for me when it comes to BBQ. read more

I had the brisket MVP. It was huge and delicious. I've also had the pork and sausage. All the meats are really good. You smell like BBQ smoke when you leave but definitely worth it. It's nice to see that this place is family owned & operated. We went on a Saturday around 6pm. Ordered chopped beef sandwiches & sliced brisket sandwiches. The brisket was tender, but it was very very fatty. The sliced brisket was sliced in hunks, not really sliced and had a ton of fat. They were out of greens & mac & cheese. Will we come back? Great BBQ! I mean really good, they're not afraid of seasoning which I appreciate. My buddy got the "Goat" baked potato, it was massive with 5 meats! I stuck with traditional chopped beef sandwich and it was great. They could have a better selection of sides, but still okay. I gave this place 3 out of 5 stars because I rate everything about a restaurant including location and decor. The location for this place is kind of 1 star but its a small family business so its to be expected somewhat. The decor definitely needs work its like a lubys thats close to bankruptcy. Other than that the food is really good. The ribs are amazing!! Only thing I would suggest is make sure you cook enough food because they kept running out of stuff for customers and having customers wait 20 minutes for other items they did have. It's a nice spacious place. It could probably use some decor development, and there are a few tvs with some sports channels on. They probably don't pay too much attention to that, because they're obviously focused on their food. I had been going to Lockharts up until two weeks ago before I tasted Winner's. The meat is always tender and juicy, but the rub they have is phenomenal. I'm pretty much converting everyone at work to go there for bbq instead. Yikes! This place was just terrible. Should have been alerted by the fact that they did not have any other customers in the restaurant. First off, they have an entire menu poster for the items that they are "sold out". Today, they were sold out of: pulled pork, slices brisket, banana pudding, green beans, and something else that I can't recall. What kind of BBQ place is out of pulled pork and sliced brisket?! So, we ordered chicken and chopped brisket (basically the only other options available). The food came out immediately but the chicken was sent back bc it looked like it had been sitting under the heat lamp for hours and we didn't want to get sick. The chopped brisket also seemed to have been sitting for a while, was dry and way too salty. Mac & cheese had no flavor at all. Baked beans were okay. But the service was also not good. One of the employees was pretty helpful and nice but the one who rang us up had a chip on her shoulder or something. Would definitely not recommend this place to anyone. read more

This little gem of a bbq joint is something special. Walking through the door you're greeted with some wonderful smoke and aroma. Brisket has a wonderful bark and is as tender as you can get, ribs were seasoned up just how I like and tender as it gets.
