    Traditional French Toast Brunch
    Laura C.

Winnie's is a no-frills, casual breakfast spot offering beloved breakfast classics. We tried the make-your-own omelette (mushrooms, onions, and cheese please!), a breakfast burrito, and French toast. All dishes were delicious and well-prepared. We went during memorial day weekend, and it seems many people were out of town because there was literally no wait and barely any tables filled. There is usually a line out the door with guests waiting and packed with people. Keep this mind if thinking about visiting! The relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere makes it a great spot for a quick breakfast. While I wouldn't go out of my way to visit, it's definitely worth stopping by if you're in the area.

We stopped in for brunch and absolutely loved it! They currently have great holiday cocktails (we got the Peppermint Espresso Martini and Sugar Cookie Martini). For brunch we ordered the avocado toast and fried chicken and waffles. The food was delicious and came quickly and the servers were friendly. On a Saturday morning for a party of two it was immediate seating at the bar or about 10-15 minutes at a table. Winnie's is located right on the Main Street of Manayunk so it was a great location downtown and cute inside the restaurant. Absolutely will be back!

So a lot of the reviews here are from regulars who have been here multiple times and have issues with service and food. My review is based on a single visit. We went here early on a Saturday morning so there was no wait time. They had few breakfast specials so we decided to try the breakfast burrito and the huevos rancheros. We requested to sub the sausage with grilled chicken, which the kitchen accommodated, but said they would charge us extra, at the time we assumed it would be a couple bucks extra. Anyway the food was 5/5, filling and so good. We were just a little taken aback to see that they charged us an extra $8 for the chicken sub. $25 for a breakfast burrito just hurts! It was good but so is the breakfast burritos at Wawa and they are under $10 . That's the only reason they lost a star. I will definitely give it another try.

Had this horrible flavorless avocado toast (very small portion for the $13 rip off price) October 24,2023.

I think this place is overrated so the two stars are for the friendly staff. I've been here only twice for breakfast but I'm definitely unimpressed with the food here. Another thing that gets my back up a lot when I eat out is when I'm overpriced for menu items the (behind the scenes) food preparers don't know how to make! I've NO interest not surprisingly in ever returning to this joint.

I dined here for lunch. The weather was nice. Parking: metered street and a parking lot within walking distance by the ice cream place for $5/hr Atmosphere: bright & a little loud inside. We ate outside, and I enjoyed the outdoor setup. The only thing I didn't like about dining outside was people waking by with their dogs. I will dine indoors the remainder of the summer. Service: It was good. Our server was very helpful and accommodating. Drinks: Strawberry blonde sangria. It wasn't good. I sent it back and got selected the vodka tonic with cheeries. That was good. Food: I had a Caesar salad, and it was ok. I also ordered the burger, and it was dry and had no taste. I added some salt and pepper, onions, and sauces in order to enjoy it. Overall, I wasn't impressed with my choices, but I may go back to try something ender.

    Wing! They were delish!

I've heard nothing but glowing reviews about this place. So with friends in town, we went. Our server wasn't pleasant. She acted as if we were interrupting her day. We asked for suggestions, she couldn't give any because she hadn't tried the food. If you order the surf and turf cheesesteak, SAVE YOUR MONEY. The lobster was almost invisible, no exaggeration. And there was more bread than steak meat. My wings were EXCELLENT though. Fries were really good too, just too small of a portion for a "large" at $11. Two in my party order drinks, the old fashion was great but the spicy lemonade drink tasted like it had no alcohol. Nice spot though. I would give it another try. But was very disappointed from all the hype I've heard about it.

Food was amazing, food came out fast and hot. Customer service was great. Restaurant was very clean. 2nd time here and I will be back. Great place to get a quick bite to eat.

Winnie's is a Manayunk staple!! The chili is my favorite thing on the menu (comes with corn bread!!) 3 stars because I'm a Caesar snob and would have liked a little more dressing with a little more hint of anchovy. Don't let the 3 star fool you, this is a solid solid place.

After taking a break from Winnie's for a while, I've come back and found the new menu on point. Further, their service, which was already solid, won a few bonus points for me this weekend when we arrived with a group of 9 sweaty runners, including a few folks who needed assistance. The manager showed no hesitation at getting us seated as soon as possible. She also checked in with us regularly. I do regret not catching her name! I've limited my visits to Winnie's in the brunch window, so cannot comment on offers outside the 10-2 timeframe. A friend of mine constantly orders their Huevos Rancheros and tells me I should get them as well. However, I usually find one of their specials catches my eye. For the most part, I have not been disappointed with them, so I think I will stick with it. Check them out for brunch!

    "Medium rare" Steak Frites

Not only was the food bad the service couldn't make up for it either. The waitress, Emily, was not very attentive and did not make eye contact when at the table. The table (4 people) all agreed that when gratuity is included the service lacks, because they're already getting 18% so why would they care. Food runner came out and gave the person who ordered medium- medium rare and the person that ordered medium rare- the medium. Yet only one got sent back for being stone cold when they both were because the other person was so hungry he didn't want to wait with sending it back. The fries were your average cheap frozen to fried fries without any seasoning. Ordered coffee and the waitress said she put on a "fresh pot" but coffee came out lukewarm and took three attempts to get a hot coffee. The lemon pasta with salmon was decent, honestly the only good meal of the bunch but isn't anything to rave about. 1 star for the drinks because they were actually quite nice- bubbly bee and a White Russian. Would not recommend to a friend.

Most overrated Fast Food in Manayunk. Slow service. 40 minutes for food. Waitress no where to be found. Mediocre food.

It was filled to the filled to the brim and delicious. They cooked it perfectly with the edges getting extra crispy like a tortilla chip. I didn't have high expectations for a place thats primarily a bar, but this blew me away all things considered. Drinks: Best taproom in the city. 20+ premium options. They have an awesome selection of beers, including some local options. They have wine and liquor too, but you should focus on the beer. This is the place to go for a good draught. Service: Servers are friendly and down to earth. They're great at suggesting different beers. Value: Not cheap, but not bad. Beers are $8-10 (pretty much market price in the West Village) and food is a decent bargain given how much food you get. Atmosphere: Its a cross between an old school pub and a sports bar. Its dark and 90% male (my wife always comments on how male heavy it is) but I think it has a good vibe. Good beer, good food options, and friendly servers.

Why they didn't get 5-stars: This is actually a 4.5-star place and only gets dinged 1/2 star is that is can be hard to get a table or a spot to be. Started off with the bartender giving me the stink eye and some lip about asking to sample their many micro-brews - I asked for one sample, it wasn't very good. The bartender's negative attitude made me uncomfortable asking for a second sample. Despite my trepidation and because they had as many as 19 different beers on tap, I asked for a second sample, which caused the bartender to frown at me and 'cut me off at 2.' I responded as positively as I could, accepted the second sample which I also did not enjoy, and took a random shot at a pint of a third beer which also wasn't great. Food was meh. As I now see has been noted in another review, the fried pickles had too much dough and way, way too much grease in them, which likely was the cause of me visiting the toilet a bunch in the morning. The pretzel was a hot pretzel, I don't agree with their choice of mustard as whole grain mustard can be difficult to spread on a hot pretzel but hey that's me. I understand that on Saturday nights people like to cut loose, but no one seemed to ask the women literally screaming with laughter to keep it down at the party in the corner, so this place gets low marks for very loud customers. I mean really there has to be a line somewhere and this was over it. The other bartender was almost apologetically polite when I asked for the check, kind of a good-cop/bad-cop thing going on there. If I wanted that experience I'd get arrested not visit a local bar. You only have one chance at a first impression.
