We came for the Easter Brunch Buffet as a family. Although we had a reservations, we ended up waiting 20ish minutes to be seated. Given that it was a holiday, it wasn't the worst but the "waiting area" was a mess. We couldn't hear our name being called, people were standing near tables with patrons, and it was hard to walk through the entrance. While the restaurant was beautiful and decorated nicely, our server Roger never checked on us after giving us our buffet bracelets. We tried flagging him down multiple times to get our bill and ended up waiting over 30 mins for him to acknowledge us. Lastly, the buffet food was just okay. Nothing crazy. The best things were probably the Mac n Cheese (had oil pooled in the serving pan), the cobbler, carrot cake, and the prime rib (it was mainly all medium meat). Honestly not worth the price. We are willing to try again with the regular menu in hopes that it's much better. read more

The food was mostly ok. - The bao (bready part) of the short rib bao was straight up hard. 1.5/5 - The baked oyster trio ($12 for 3) were good but raw oysters could have been shucked cleaner. Good mignonette though. - Fried fish sliders were good, cheeseburger sliders were not. The pan-grilled bread was also burnt. Amateur. - Tried alligator for the first time and really liked the chewy bites! So the food would've been 3.5 overall, even 4 if without the short rib bao and cheeseburger sliders. Edit: I just remembered. The slice of chocolate cake was massive and pretty good. It's like eating a giant Ferrero Rocher. But I'm disappointed by the attitudes of the team. The manager was the exception - warm, friendly. The rest of the staff: weirdly cold and snooty. Our server warmed up, but I think it must be the vibe between coworkers there, which is often set top-down and by the team culture. Either way, I'm not going back. Felt stressful just being in the midst of that. Nice space though with a spread of fish on site if a bit too dark for my tastes (for the dining room, not happy hour area). Over the past five days we've tried Willie Gs at the galleria , Landrys in Galveston and Willie gs in Galveston. They are all great but this location is my favorite! All by the same owner but all unique restaurants and experiences! Food: the Cajun pasta is special! Full of flavor and made to perfection! That's probably my favorite dish. The andouille sausage is so dam good! The fried alligator is Amani's. So are the mini cheeseburger sliders! sushi amazing! The short rib was phenomenal! Great food. Solid service. We visited Willie G's on Easter, and as expected, it was extremely busy. Even with a reservation, we had about a 20-minute wait, which wasn't ideal but understandable given the holiday crowd. Once seated, the experience really picked up. Eric was an excellent waiter--attentive, professional, and made sure we were taken care of throughout the meal. We chose to order from the regular menu instead of brunch, and every dish delivered. The Oyster Trash and Sticky Burnt Ends were standout appetizers--full of flavor and a great start to the meal. For entrées, we had the Bourbon Street Pasta, King Crab Fried Rice, and Pan Seared Salmon, and all were excellent. Everything was well-seasoned, fresh, and cooked perfectly. The ambiance was nice, but it was definitely loud. There was a lot of movement from guests going back and forth to the buffet, which added to the noise--but it also made for great people watching. The food was quite tasty. I came here with a group of folks from work and we all enjoyed. There's a lot of options--I had a little bit of indecisiveness going on, so I asked the waiter and he recommended the spicy tuna. It was a great suggestion and I thoroughly enjoyed every bite! He was fairly attentive, especially as we came in late. I had my spicy margarita, which was quite tasty and a sushi roll. The table ordered calamari, crab & lobster rolls, and crab cakes. We come here all the time and the place is awesome. The servers and the management really care! We usually sit at the bar and love the oyster bar trash, the post oak roll, the spicy tuna roll, the crazy shrimp roll and the broiled seafood platter. They just added filet mignon egg rolls and they were amazing. I'm surprised their rating isn't higher. It's a nice upscale seafood experience that has something for everyone. I entertained myself at Willie G's for a mid week after work happy hour. They have quite a few great options in their menu. I stayed with their $10 glass of Sauvignon Blanc. While $10 is definitely not a steal for happy hour especially for Mahu brand it's the going price nowadays so I'll take it. For the food we had the following. Snapper Bites: 10/10- the flavor was delicious. It's grilled which made it even better. The fish was cooked well. Nigiri Trio: 10/10- my guest stated the fish was very fresh and they enjoyed it Crispy Fish Sandwich- 10/10. The toast was yummy, the fish was fried well and it had a lot of flavor. Spicy Tuna Roll- 10/10. The price is good on this and my guest stated again the fish was fresh and it was flavorful Past Oak Rill- 10/10- the price for happy hour is good on this ($10). It was a very flavorful roll The service was good. He was attentive and patient. We got there around 4, and the actual bar was packed. I was referred by friends to try Willie G's. I booked a reservation here for my birthday. They were able to accommodate a party of eight people for 8:30pm. There is no self parking only valet and it was $8. Once inside the restaurant had a beautiful ambiance. The entry was bright and decorated elegantly. The dining rooms are darker and more intimate. I checked in with the hostess stand, but was not allowed to be seated until half my party arrived. My party size changed at the last minute to a smaller size and the hostess was able to accommodate me with no issues. When we made it to the table it was nicely set and sat us ladies comfortably. Our waiter was Deavyn. She was attentive, friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable of great suggestions on the menu. Some friends ordered sushi as an appetizer. The sushi looked amazing and they said, "It tasted good and fresh." Some friends ordered the crabs cakes and also thoroughly enjoyed their dish. One friend ordered the seafood pasta and love it. I ordered the Gulf Red Snapper, subbed the broccolini for the crab fried rice. I topped the red snapper with the oyster trash which I highly recommend. I also added a side of brussel sprouts. My meal was delicious, 10/10! The restaurant does provide a complimentary birthday dessert. I chose the butterscotch bread pudding and it was a 10/10!!!!! My friends enjoyed it as well. The service at this restaurant was above and beyond. One of the managers named Trey stopped by our table to check on us and sparked up conversation afterwards. He was very personable like Deavyn. This was a great experience for my birthday and I'm so glad I decided to celebrate at Willie G's. Overall with tip included I spent $102 dollars. I would highly recommend this restaurant for date night, girls night, anniversary/birthday dinners, or just looking for great food/service. The food was great. Service was awesome. The issue was the valet. Valet is complimentary before 6 pm. I requested my car at 5:55. I paid my bill and walked out. Arrived at the valet stand at 6:02. They advised because I did not walk out prior to 6:00 I had to pay. Over visited this restaurant many times and I am a Landry member. Not sure when I will be back. While it is only $8, for me it is principle! In addition to the valet issue, there were some extremely disruptive customers in the lounge. They were not inebriated. I'm just going to start by saying the food is really good. We had a large group of friends and Family to celebrate a birthday. We were seated in a nice size room. The two servers we had (forgot both there names) were very nice and gave great suggestions. I got the King Crab fried rice and it is so delicious, very tasteful and has very few peas, I don't eat peas often so that was great. I also had the Lobster Bisque, when I first saw it I thought it was too juicy, not thick but when I tried it it was very good and thick enough, a ball of lobster was in the middle and very easy to spread it out in the bisque. I got the asparagus with bacon and egg. When they first brought it to the table the egg was sunny side up, I kindly asked if they can fry it and the kindly did. All of the group seem to have liked the food because I heard no complaints and everyone was happy and comfortable. When we left the entire restaurant was full of guest. Which let's you know this is a good dinner spot. I'll be back for the King Crab Fried Rice again. read more

It turns out that our sea bass bites as an appetizer were a great choice; however, I could have eaten an entire pizza box full of them. I certainly needed more than five, especially because I was sharing it with my friend. Next, the espresso martini was larger than most. It was perfectly crafted. It was the potency that I needed to make it through the New Year's Eve celebrations. Now, for my entrees: the Gulf Melissa felt like a party on a plate. It was seasoned. It was succulent, and it was sizeable. Sorry for the late review. We brought our dad here for Father's Day. We opted for the brunch buffet which was our main reason for choosing this establishment. I loved all of the options there was literally something here for everyone. I would like to know what other holidays they offer the buffet as my sister was told they only offer the brunch buffet option on 3 occasions. Highly recommend for the price and selection. While service was limited, it was good, and we really enjoyed our outing. 5/5. When we found ourselves in town for Easter and saw that Willie G's would be hosting another buffet, we got on the list. You can see other reviews of this Easter buffet mess. It took 45 minutes and annoying the manager to get seated, which still was far better than others' experiences. Food, which was a mix of brunch and seafood, was mid at best. Fresh food was dumped on top of hot buffet platters, leaving the food at the bottoms to become inedible. Water/tea refills only happened by tracking down the server. 1/5, tops. Still, cheers to the valet team who were working their butts off and providing great service. All I can say is the you can get better service and food at Pappadeaux. This is supposed to be a high end restaurant but the only thing high end is jus the location. Service was bad. Our food took over 40 minutes and the restaurant wasn't even that busy. When they brought our food they forgot two main entrees and one side. My husband had to eat his entree without his side. My sister and mom had to watch us eat while they waited for their food, because they forgot about it. Also, my husband order a wine with his meal which he never got. The food was ok! The Chilean bass was the best. The manager didn't come to our table to check on us. He only came when my husband requested to speak to a manager. I saw him checking on other tables except ours. He did apologized and offered us a dessert but we didn't accept it. We didn't want to wait another hour for a dessert for seven people. He did removed some items from our check. This restaurant needs a lot of work on their customer service. Save your money and go somewhere else. read more

We came to celebrate my friend Sophia's birthday, and the night started off a little rough. Our server wasn't the best at first, and our whole table was ready to leave. Once Trey stepped in, everything changed. He checked on us consistently, made sure we were taken care of, and even helped our server get back on track.
