We visited for a bachelorette dinner and had the pleasure of a beautiful private dining room, highly attentive servers, and a delightful 4-course meal plus focaccia bread and 3 additional mini-bites between some of the courses. My favorite dish was the cavatelli with beef ragout but the duck was also delicious. Overall, this was an expensive experience but well worth it for a special occasion!

My husband and I stayed in this cottage for 4 nights and had a good stay. The resort has a lot of good amenities and each cottage has a theme. The details of the cottages are great. They have a playground (gym), and also a pool. There was an employee at the pool between certain hours that was able to make drinks for you. Each cottage had bicycles. We stayed in the Maritime cottage which had heated bathroom floor, steam shower, bose speaker system that traveled throughout the cottage with volume control in each of the rooms. The reason I picked this specific cottage was for the bathroom, living room, and screened porch. Those rooms were open and spacious. When we needed anything, we called the front building and they had it delivered to us. We also called them to let them know when we wanted our turn down service starts at the earliest 5pm. They asked us if we wanted makeup service, which is the cleaning during the earlier part of the day. Breakfast hours were around 7/7:30-10am. We also dined on site at the tavern one of the days we were there for lunch and also had the private dining. Both gave us very nice vegan options, especially the private dining experience. Everything they brought out was exceptional and this is coming from a bit of a picky eater. I didn't have to think or second guess any of the meals for that experience. I went to the spa for a 30 minute reflexology session which was great and very relaxing. We were advised to arrive 15 minutes before our actual massage in order to have enough time to fill out some paper work. Mine was done on a tablet and my FIL was filling out an actual paper. This process was quite fast and not as lengthy as I expected. We were done quickly and showed to the locker rooms to change. We changed into robes and slippers that were in the lockers. We were offered teas and sent to a relaxing seating area to wait for our massueses. They also had very nice outdoor seating areas. I did a couple of paintings while there. This is a gated community so when you come back, you have to call the front building from the callbox at the front to open the gate. All in all it was a great experience that would have you feeling as though you are in a different country.

We had an incredible stay at Winvian! We were in the Beaver Cottage which was a rustic but luxurious cabin. We enjoyed the food at Maggie's Tavern, Winvian Farm Restaurant and participated in a stained glass making class and had s'mores after dinner one night. Their spa services are top notch and have couples massages in a room with a fireplace and champagne afterwards. The staff were all incredibly kind and helpful with Anthony, Christina, and Rachel being particular standouts. We look forward to returning!

Went for dinner with some friends. This place is an experience Reservations are a must if you are not staying here! From the time you pull onto the property you need to be buzzed in. They have valet for the restaurant! We did a 4 course tasting, every course left a flavor that you didn't want to go away but we were excited for the next course. Service is absolutely amazing! We had a few people checking on us throughout the night. Dinner lasted a few hours which was nice cause we were catching up with friends and didn't want to be rushed. Servers read our body language and checked on us na appropriate number of times, wasn't over bearing and at the same time didn't miss a beat Looking forward to a stay in one of the cabins .

My partner and I stayed at Winvian for our 12 year anniversary, and it couldn't have been a better experience! We booked the Charter Oak cottage, which I HIGHLY recommend (it's a popular one--reserve it very early!!). The interior features two fireplaces, a giant tree up the center of the room, a private enclosed deck overlooking the grounds, and an enormous jacuzzi tub/shower/steam room bathroom experience that is not to be missed! Upon arrival, we were welcomed and shown around by Jack, who was an absolute angel and promptly saw to our every need throughout our stay. We entered the cottage to find a complimentary bottle of chilled Prosecco and a lovely anniversary card waiting for us. We got settled in and headed to the on-site restaurant for dinner, where we were seated privately in front of a giant fireplace, and ate what I truly think was the best meal of my life! Everything was impeccably fresh and perfectly prepared, and I savored every single bite. After dinner, we headed back to our cottage, where the s'mores-making experience we reserved had already been laid out and was waiting for us by the fire! The bed was very comfortable, and breakfast in the morning was delicious as well, and free! We took a walk around the grounds to check out all the other cottages available, and we are already daydreaming about visiting again soon to experience the other accommodations. Staying here is a very indulgent experience, but I promise you it's worth every single penny!

We started off with warm olive bread with whipped butter (perhaps the best butter we've had) and a chilled melon, mint yogurt shooter amuse bouche. We then moved onto the yellowfin tartare and Arethusa Farm Dairy artisanal cheeses featuring a variety of their delicious cheeses, including their acclaimed Gouda. For our mid course we had the braised duck dumplings, calamari stuffed with squid ink risotto, and sweet corn and ricotta agnolotti. This was our favorite part of the meal with the calamari and agnolotti being standout dishes for us. For entrees we went with the tamarind glazed black cod with black rice and lemongrass sauce and the pork tenderloin. With finished off with the famous Arethusa Farm dairy ice cream (mint, strawberry, and sweet cream chocolate trip) which truly channeled the essence of farm fresh and ended what was a delicious feast of flavors. This is amongst our favorite farm to table restaurants and def would reccomend this for a special occasion

The dinner menu was atypical, featuring an eclectic fusion of dishes executed with lots of creative flair. Flavor, quality and freshness of ingredients were top notch. Our starter, Garlic Maple Whiskey Chicken Bites, came accompanied with grilled shishito peppers. Perfect for sharing and so lovely paired with a glass of prosecco. Next, we sampled Bouillabaisse and Miso Roasted Black Cod in dashi broth. Seafood for both mains were super fresh. The Bouillabaisse broth was remarkably flavorful, the hint of saffron ever present but not overwhelming. How nice to have the red pepper rouille and slices of bread (customary in France) served alongside for the authentic experience. Miso Roasted Black Cod was tasty, succulent and fork tender. Beautifully arranged with mushrooms and Brussels sprouts surrounding the fish, plus a delectable piece of polenta cake tucked underneath. Dashi broth was poured onto dish tableside, creating a warm umami rich dish that was not only delicious but also extremely satisfying. On to desserts....The Chocolate Tarte with sea salt, nuts and berry coulis, a picture of understated elegance, was incredibly sublime. The Warm Apple Tartlet à la Mode with vanilla ice cream was good too. Would have preferred a tad less cinnamon though. All things considered, this was an exemplary meal. Wait staff was friendly and helpful. Hope to return again soon.

Hmmm. She did bring a complimentary bottle of wine as we continued to wait. I'd ordered a lobster stuffed bass. I'm not too picky, but fish was rubbery, there was only a lobster broth, no lobster (most expensive item on the menu) and the other dinners were - satisfactory, nothing more. I did write the Abner to let them know, only so they could be aware. No response was made. Will we go back? Perhaps for a drink, not for dinner. There are other excellent options in Litchfield. Disappointed? 100%

Our party of four spent over $800 celebrating my mother's birthday. A few hours after the meal, my brother became seriously ill, and because I had also sampled his chicken dish and later experienced nausea myself, we were concerned the illness may have been related to the meal. When we contacted the restaurant to share our concerns, the conversations with management were disappointing. Joanne spoke separately with several members of our family and asked whether my brother had gone to the hospital, undergone testing, or had proof of illness. When I asked whether the restaurant maintained food safety documentation, I felt the question was viewed as accusatory rather than as part of a reasonable concern following our visit. Overall, the interaction lacked the empathy and reassurance we had hoped for. No refund, credit, or acknowledgment was offered. As longtime customers who have celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, and milestones here over the years, the response was surprising. Beyond the health concern, the overall dining experience felt noticeably less positive than in past visits. The bread exterior was very hard, and we noticed other nearby tables eating only the soft interior. The vegetables served with the scallops were tough, the pasta was dry, and most of the dishes (except for the pea soup) lacked flavor. The deserts were lackluster, though the goat cheese cheesecake was delicious. The cheese board appetizer was presented without explanation of the cheeses or accompaniments. Crumbs were not cleared between courses. While our server was friendly, we were repeatedly asked whether we had finished dessert, which made the evening feel somewhat rushed during a birthday celebration. The server also spent time discussing personal matters during service, which distracted from the dining experience. We had to find someone to get our coats otherwise we would've walked out without them. The ambiance at Community Table remains beautiful, which makes the experience especially unfortunate after so many positive visits over the years. Unfortunately, after this experience, our family will likely celebrate future special occasions at other restaurants in Litchfield County that we feel provide a stronger overall dining experience.

The restaurant is part of a hotel operated on an updated estate. The restaurant is located in a beautiful classic white house. The bar has stunning emerald wall coloring adjacent to a glass window. The main dining room is lovely. Top grades for atmosphere. They even have a Michelin Star for the Hotel. Other than our server having a temporary memory lapse about the flavor profile of sorrel , service was pretty much perfect. Friendly. Helpful. Efficient. For example, our server was able, at our request, to serve Belden House's famous chocolate chip cookies even though they weren't on the dinner menu. They were delicious. The food ranged from good to very good. My wife and I split (1) sourdough focaccia and cultured butter; (2) shrimp with fennel in a sorrel sauce, (3) pappardelle with pork shoulder; (4) green garlic linguine with clams, preserved lemon and sake; and (5) Short Rib with persimmons and sunchokes. The bread was very good. The shrimp had good texture and that dish was cool visually. I was a fan of both pasta dishes. They both had a nice acidity, which you don't always see with pasta dishes. The shredded pork was tasty. The short rib wasn't a highlight for me, but it was good. It had a firmer texture than I'm used to. The persimmons brought a cool shape and color, but I didn't love the flavor with the short rib. We had a great experience. I recommend Belden House for an upscale night. 4.5 Stars
