They obliged my online request for well done and I appreciated that! I actually ordered it all through Yelp and was pleased with the ease of the experience and comparable delivery and service fee charges as other companies. Pretty good, simple pizza. I've been here several times to get pizza by the slice, especially late night (love the mushroom and my husband loves the curry one). I've been a huge fan of the Wiseguy Pizza since I moved to DC (used to live by the Chinatown location). I've tried almost every slice, all salad options and the garlic knots and they're all phenomenal. I can now also confirm that the new location in Navy Yard does not disappoint in terms of taste. Wiseguy Pizza is NY-style thin crust, and I'd guess about 18-inch pies, so the slices are very decently sized and a good price. A guy could probably eat two for lunch and a girl would probably be okay with one. There's usually enough seating to find a spot because so many people take their slices to go if you want to stay around to eat. BUT, I would note that the condiment station (with the red pepper flakes, grated parm, oregano flakes, etc) is sorta hidden. It's in the back seating area, and all of the condiments are exposed to the air and have to be scooped out with spoons buffet-style. A little messy and definitely inconvenient if you decide you need more halfway through your meal. I'd prefer just shakers on the tables. Overall, it's a great spot with quick, efficient service and delicious 'za. Would definitely recommend it over any fast-food pizza restaurant in Navy Yard. read more

They're OK, but have consistency issues. I've been to this location a number of times; sometimes it great and other times it's not. I like the square Sicilian pizza, but it can sometimes be burnt on the bottom from the double bake. Also, like some others have said the place has questionable standards when it comes to cleanliness. Staff appear to use same gloves touching food and ringing up food. Gloves should be changed depending on the task being performed. Main front kitchen area could be cleaner. There also seems to be no organization with staff performing their duties. The place seems chaotic at times: no one greets you when standing there to place or pick up an order. Staff just seem to be running back and forth between back kitchen and main area, doing nothing. My last square whole pizza was burnt and soggy. The dough on the whole neapolitan had been worked too much and was a bit chewy. Spicy Pep had a sausage casing end thrown on top to bake with it. Poor quality control. I like this place, but they need to improve. read more

We picked up pizza from here a few weeks ago. I was so excited to try this place. We picked up The Godfather pizza which is basically a meat lovers pizza. It is an enormous pizza. The menu online doesn't show prices. It was about $29 for what seems like an extra large pizza. It was disappointing since the pizza was burnt. Wandered upon Wiseguy Pizza in the Navy Yard area after a good drinking night. Being from NJ, you would think that there would be more eateries open late for drunkards like me lol. Wiseguy Pizza looked like a gleaming lighthouse with a Gelato spot next door! Nothing could get any better. Bubs and I did come here the night before for the gelato. So the guys working at Wiseguy remembered us, and asked us if we're getting pizza this time jokingly lol. We ordered 2 pies: 1 pepperoni and margherita. We did enjoy the pizzas, but they're not NY pizza though lol crust was good, but man the pepperonis needed to be crispier. Excellent quick lunch while enjoying Canal Park! Specialty slices are around $4.25 each, less for just cheese or pepperoni. Two slices came to slightly over $9 and this provided 2 meals for me! I was really intrigued by some of their slices- Korean, buffalo, chicken paneer masala, and penne a la vodka to name a few. They take your choices and reheat them for you. There is a toppings bar too with oregano, garlic, crushed red pepper, etc. After you give your order, you wait until they call what you ordered. It was kinda chaotic on a weekday lunch. You can choose to dine in with a tray or take a box to go. I chose the latter.....mostly because there was a man in there that made some comments about my baby that made me feel uncomfortable. He seemed to know the people working there. Anyways, I ate one slice on a nearby bench and took the other to go. The chicken paneer masala was delicious! It was partly spicy and just bursting with flavor. The crust on that one was clearly black and burnt- no bueno. The buffalo chicken had a nice mix of blue cheese and buffalo sauce but really lacked the advertised protein. Despite a few negatives, I'd definitely stop back for some pizza. Disclaimer: I'm a born & raised New Yorker so pizza is in my blood. My first visit to Wiseguys was early spring/summer time and it didn't go well. The woman who took my order over the phone screwed up the order but since then I've been back several times and not issues at all. Just good pizza!! I haven't tried anything else on the menu but the pizza is legit. I would say it's the best I've tasted in DC, meaning the rest taste like garbage. If you're from NYC you would appreciate having a place like Wiseguys in DC. I would definitely recommend Wiseguys for the best pizza in DMV. read more

There aren't a lot of great options, mainly due to either poor service or high prices, so I had more or less given up on most of the restaurants in the area for a reasonable lunch. I had the Godfather pizza which a meat heavy option and it was good. I would thin it would be even better had it not been sitting for a while since it was around dinner and that's a much slower time for the restaurants in that area. That's the only reason I wouldn't go 4 stars. If you got it fresh or order a whole pizza I think you could have a better experience. It was still excellent though. It was a touch on the pricey side but that's to be expected with the overpriced area. read more

Tried this place out for the first time when my parents came to visit for Labor Day. We got 2 pies: the Margherita and Supreme. With 2 drinks, it came out to be around $65? I was very surprised when the cashier told me how much it was. I've never paid that much for 2 pizzas. Apparently each whole pizza is like $25. When we got the pizzas, they were huge. Worth the $25. The tomato sauce was not overpowering at all. It was very mild. The crust/bread was also good. I think I ended up eating 4 slices. I will most likely come back and try their other pizzas. I didn't have a chance to look at all the choices, but they had a wide variety. I remember seeing a Paneer Tikka pizza. They also had this little "sauce" bar in the back. Ok, I visited for lunch today and ordered a small Caesar Salad and one Grandma slice. The pizza was great as usual, but I'm sad to report that halfway through my salad I noticed a spider like critter moving amongst my lettuce. While I know this happens sometimes with fresh lettuce, I'm still a bit traumatized and will not be ordering a salad from here or anywhere else, anytime soon. My previous reviews still stand. I've been looking forward to trying Wiseguy Pizza for a few weeks now. I'm a Matchbox guy or even Ledo's but I heard these guys were good. It was awful. My first reaction when I opened the box was "It's not cooked all the way!". The response from the employee, "Well, you should've asked for it to be well done.". I'm sorry, am I at Ruth Chris? It's a freaking pizza...COOK IT. Then I saw the $29.14 price tag for a pie that was under-cooked and still had visible pieces of mozzarella that did not cover the dough and were not fully baked. I literally went home, added my own mozzarella to the pie, and baked it some more. Matchbox...you still hold the title. Wiseguy on M Street was an awful disappointment. NEVER again. read more

I've now been back a few times, and I've really enjoyed the pizza! There are so many different flavor combinations. I really recommend the mushroom and the grandma! I keep meaning to try the chicken tikka masala because it sounds different and looks pretty tasty. The staff has been really nice and helpful. Can I just say how amazing this pizza is? Also just FYI it's conveniently located directly opposite the owner's gelato shop so if you really want a full Italian experience you can get some pizza and then get some gelato afterwards. You won't feel guilty it's delicious and totally worth it. The pizza so it's known for being pretty close to New York style pizza and I agree. You have the thinner crust traditional pizza but then you also have the thick square-shaped pie slices and I tried the spicy pepperoni with aged pepperoni, Italian sausage, mozzarella, and a hot honey. It was incredible some of the best pizza I've had in the DC area so I highly recommend checking them out. Wiseguy pizza is a great addition to the Navy Yard area. I've also heard that the buffalo chicken and the chicken tikki masala are pretty good too so try those and add some garlic knots and salad. read more

I love this place! Great pizza, crisp and foldable crust, and delicious ingredients. I'm really into the Backyard, but the Sicilian is also spectacular. The pizza can be purchased by the slice or as a full pie. I usually get the two slices and a drink combo. They have Boylan's soda, which I enjoy. As an added bonus, this Wise Guy's is located in the middle of beautiful Canal Park. There's seating inside, or out, or on the rooftop, or anywhere in the park itself. Half the restaurant is devoted to a coffee and gelato operation, which also gives everything a cool vibe. Something about espresso and gelato just goes with pizza. read more

Thumbs up to this place for staying open late! We came in close to midnight and were starving. The pizzas were already made and sat on the counter so customers can see and choose. This was a nice feature since most of us eat with our eyes first :) Once we picked which pizza & how many slices we wanted, they put it in a brick-like oven to heat it up. The price was decent. The pizzas tasted good, but nothing over the top. We were just thankful to find a decent eat so late. It was a quick and easy in and out. Parking was easy because it was late at night. Wiseguy right behind Nationals Park located in Navy Yard is a great place for large pizza on a hot summer day! I usually tend to stop by during my lunch hour, where the line often extends far into the neighboring gelato place. My personal favorite slice is the Vodka Pizza, which tastes pretty good and is a nice workday lunch. However, the pizza is extremely messy which can detract from the taste when I am worrying about returning to work. I'm sure many other young professionals who frequent Wiseguy can relate. One additional gripe I have with the restaurant has to do with the bathrooms - the bathrooms are located in the basement of the building and is extremely difficult to get to. It's very irritating to eat messy pizza and not have a quick way to get rid of pizza grease for my fingers. Overall, I love the taste but the time I have to clean after eating has to be longer than a work lunch. read more

We came here to snag some pizza before a Yelp event at Altani Gelati. My spouse and I shared the 2 slice and a drink deal. I got the mushroom truffle slice and we split a creme soda. The slice was decent - which is way more than I can say for any other slice joint pizza in the DMW. The cheese level was good but the crust was weird - it fell apart in my hands. But! WISEGUYS! So glad you opened one minute from my home. Wiseguys is easily the best by-the-slice pizza in DC. I read an article about the owner which talked about how he zig zaged the country to find every great NYC pizza joint and learn their methods. His work has paid off. They have unique varieties, and enough topping choices for every taste bud. The crust is perfectly cooked, and has flavorful cheese. This location has improved on the Chinatown location in that it has ample seating space. It'll also interestingly have an ice cream joint opening soon. My take-it-to-the-bank recommendation for Wiseguys is to get their ranch dressing. I don't know what they do, but theirs is the best. Enjoy your dunks! read more

I live there pizza Margarita. instead of delivering th pizza (with all charges of Pizza and grubhub extras $40) I ordered, they sent me a pizza with olives, onions, and a mix of veggie and it is cold. And to bribe me, tossed in garlic twists, salad, and a cookie. I am not able to digest onions. that is why I ordered the Pizza Margarita. Well Wiseguys!!! I guess you are living up to your name. by bribing me with crap, you got away with not making my pizza but sending a clearly already made cold pizza from your stash at the counter. and to add insult to injury, I can't get Grubhub to respond for correcting situation... Their chat doesn't work and my complaint can't be registered to even try to get a refund. so, I ended up having to toss $40 worth of food in the trash. thanks a lot! The one in Chinatown is better. I've had multiple bad experiences at this location. The pizza is dry and underwhelming. Instead of reheating in a pizza oven, they use a toaster that makes the pizza taste like leftovers. The buffalo chicken and Nashville hot chicken pizza should be discontinued. read more

This location has been struggling to find the right fit for a tenant, and WOW has it found it! Wiseguy Pizza has delicious pizza-by-the-slice, in a park-like setting in the middle of an urban hub. Just a block away from Navy Yard metro, this will be a staple for neighborhood residents, commuters, and fun-seekers who come for the ice-skating rink in the winter and the fountains in the summer. We went on the first night they opened and while ready to forgive the idiosyncrasies of an opening night, I can report that the owner and management of this company are pros. They've clearly had business experience and there were NO glitches. The owner was there and stopped by our table to ask for honest feedback, and appreciated it when we gave it. I saw a steady stream of people flowing in and out, some with their takeout pizza and salad, others staying to enjoy the urban oasis set up on the southmost block of Canal Park. As for the food, I was intrigued by the Korean Chicken Pizza, and delighted by its flavors and crunch. The perfect amount of spice and sizzle. The crust was light and buttery, but just a tiny bit too dark on the underside for my taste -- no worries though. After telling the owner, the staff was scraping the pizza oven by the time we left. Being new to the area and with the current restrictions, we opted to try Wiseguy, who is both open and near our place. They did not disappoint!!!! This is some amazing NY style pie! We had a supreme which had just enough cheese (not overdone, not crazy greasy) and garlic knots. Fresh ingredients, 20 minutes from order to pick-up and organized for the times.
