How is this place not an annual inclusion of Texas Monthly's top 50 BBQ joints. Everything is DELISCIOUS. They won me over with the poultry, most places do BBQ chicken turkey poorly and chicken is worse than Brock Osweiller in a Texans uniform. However poultry here is a master class. Super tender, full of smoke flavor...perfect. In fact this was probably the best qtr of BBQ chicken Ive ever had in my life. Brisket was super most, great smoke ring and bark, it'll have you using your index finger to get every little bit of protein on your butcher paper. Ribs again, super tender, great balance of salt/pepper and the perfect amount of smoke in the flesh. There is no need for any sauce for any of these meats. Peach cobbler has a bread pudding crust, full of bitter and vanilla flavor just awesome, that banana pudding is to die for as well. Sides are really good as well. They do velveeta mac and cheese the way Kraft envision, and like grandma did, they somehow make canned green beans delicious. Dont sleep on the loaded mash (taters) they got going on too, the only CON of the visit is the parking, its hard to get a spot, but certainly can see why. I only come for the classic loaded potato w/chopped beef (moist side). I may need to inform no sour cream. I never see by the time I get home. I've been meaning to eat here for the longest time and finally got around to it and it was so good. My nephew worked here in high school and always heard good things about it. Either way I got a family pulled pork sammich dinner for about $50 and it was worth it. The chokehold their Mac and cheese has on me is crazy. It was so good! The place always seems so packed too. I get my hair done right next door at Sweet Cheeks and the BBQ smell that comes from there is incredible. read more

I'm sooooo sorry but this is 1st amendment protected speech in form of a humble opinion, BUT it was better than Schultz, Rudy's and Swinging door. Not only did I have to wait in line to let them know I placed and paid for my order, I had to wait for them to pack it...and they ran out of an item I selected No feedback of it being unavailable. Makes me wonder if they ran out when I arrived or when the order was placed. If I have to stand in line, wait for food and not get what was ordered, at LEAST offer a drink! I love Witt Pit BBQ so much, I had to bust out rhymes like Fox E. Witt Pit is a lovely, local, family-owned joint that started as a small catering company and blossomed into one helluva BBQ restaurant. They keep me from having to drive all the way out to Killens. The brisket is perfectly seasoned and melts in your mouth. The sausage is nice and juicy. When my daughter ate the chicken, she said, "Oh, this is what eating with God is like." Okay, maybe she was exaggerating, but she obviously loves the chicken. The barbecue sauce has just the right balance of sweet, salty, tang, and heat. The mac and cheese is so good I've thought about all the ways to go about begging for the recipe. And the banana pudding? You'd better not plan on sharing. It's hard to understand how they made the banana pudding so decadent and light at the same time. I don't even ask questions anymore. I just order two for myself. Got there about two hours before they closed and of course any good BBQ joint runs out of things, they were out of chicken and ran out of brisket as we walked in the door. We ordered the rack of ribs and some Turkey and a jalapeño sausage. The food was wonderful!!! Perfectly done, and enjoyable to the last bite!!!
