My girlfriend and I tried this place out earlier today. One of the absolute best experiences we've ever had! The decor in the place is very unique, and the feel is homely. We ordered mushroom quesadillas as an appetizer, and the mushrooms were cooked to perfection. Our salads were delicious with homemade croutons and dressing. I had a Caesars salad, while she had a regular house. I also tried their chicken curry soup from a sample the server brought, but decided to get some greens in my system with a salad. The soup was amazing. The meals...oh, the meals. My girlfriend and I have similar tastes so we usually just order things we both like and then share. We received their special of the day, which was salmon oscar, and then a regular item menu which was lobster ravioli. The way that the meals were cooked were flawless. The oscar was in a sherry sauce that really made the plate, and when all was done we soaked up the remaining sauce with the fresh breadsticks. The lobster was fantastic and the salmon was seared to perfection. There was even asparagus with the salmon that broke perfectly, as it was cooked just right. The salmon dish also had homemade mashed potatoes, which were to die for. Our server was Laura, who was very informative and timed our meals perfectly. When one piece of our meal was eaten, the next portion was up. After the meal was over, the kitchen manager Kyle came out to talk to us and gave us more of a background on the place. Almost everything on the menu is homemade, and thus justifies any concerns on price. My recommendation is to order something you can't get just anywhere else. It'll probably be just as amazing, but treat yourself to something new! read more

Dined here with my sister this evening. We were looking for a good steak in the Novi area and seeing how Black Rock had an almost 2 hour wait time we found Wixom Station and decided to give it a fair shot. The good: the decor is pleasant, with a train station theme to it, very cool. Our server Amanda did a great job serving us. The bad: the Stella Artois draft I ordered was flat, and the Tennessee Cream Soda that my sister ordered tasted like cough medicine. Don't even bother. We couldn't drink those so we sent them back and weren't charged for them. Having lived in New England for over 2 years and experiencing some of the BEST clam chowder known to man, I HAD to order their clam chowder special to test it out. The color was off, as if they had made it with something the color of paprika, but the flavor wasn't terrible. It didn't taste like a New England clam chowder, but it didn't taste bad either. I've had much better attempts at clam chowder from Coney Islands. My flat iron steak came closer to well done than the medium-rare as I ordered it, so she offered to have them redo it. 2nd time around it came out very springy to the touch and close to rare. The flavor was good, not 5 star steakhouse but far from 1 star burger joint. I really wish Yelp would allow for ratings with half star increments, as I believe there could be some better things to get from this place and would give it a fair 2.5 but since they don't, I'm gonna have to leave it a solid 2 on the yelp scale. read more

I love this place! The staff are always super friendly and the food is delicious! It's right down the street from my office and we eat here at least 1-2 times a week! Their house dressing is incredible! The atmosphere is always upbeat and not to mention, you can bring your dogs to dine with you on the patio on Sundays! This place is just awful. We live in Wixom, so we have tried it many times hoping it would improve. The food is very generic and bland. Frozen veggies and boxed mashed potatoes. I have no tolerance for fake spuds! We ordered an appetizer that was frozen in the middle. They were nice enough to take it off the bill. There is a prime rib special on the weekends and they are always out. Convenient. Also, the service is terrible... Just terrible. We have tried this place several times and staff is always bad. Either teenaged brats or pissy adults who seemingly couldn't care less. They get one star for being consistent. Consistently bad. I hope this place closes and they use the space to open anything else. read more

Sorry guys... Was really hoping to like this place since it has a nice theme and atmosphere. Waited about 30 min for our table to find out the hostess crossed us off the list while we were standing right in front. Then, the clam chowder was über salty... At least it was hot. Not much I can say for my well done, cold filet salad with rotten (stem attached) avocado and missing Gorgonzola cheese. The 45 min wait for this was definitely necessary also. I probably would give the Wixom Station 3 stars for the food but I'm kind of ticked off right now. More about that later. We had the soups which were tasty and a sandwich / fries which was fine for what it was. A tad pricey for sandwiches but not outrageous or anything. Service by the support staff was very good, much better than our actual server, in fact, who seemed to be in a disaffected mood for some reason. It was later on a Saturday so maybe she had had it and was just trying to get through her shift. Nonetheless, it took a little away from the experience. Here's what irritated me. We each ordered two craft brews, two bowls of soup, and shared a sandwich and fries. The bill was almost $50.00 but INCLUDED a $2.00 "PLATE SHARING CHARGE". I get it. If a couple comes in and orders 2 waters and splits a sandwich for a $10- $12 bill, it's tough for a business to survive but we spent plenty more than that and on, typically, higher profit items. I know $2.00 isn't much in the scheme of things but it seems small minded to charge this when a reasonable purchase has been made. It irked me. I suppose I could have asked for a manager to reverse the charge but, at this point, I just didn't want to deal with it so we paid the bill and left. Anyway, like I said, the food is pretty good. The service leaves something to be desired. This is a local place for us and we like to support businesses in our community. I don't know if we'll go back, though, because that type of revenue policy seems to show a lack of customer awareness. read more

I had heard good things about this place so I was excited to try it. Being local I figured I would support local business. My Sunday lunch visit with the family was probably the worst restaurant experience I've have in a while. First off my wife and I ordered sandwich entrees and we're going to order an appetizer for the kids to share due to the ridiculous price of kids menu items ($6.25). But then I saw at the bottom of the kids menu that kids eat free on Sunday's with the purchase of an adult entree, so I ordered the kids meals and still got an appetizer. My meal came out tasteless (NY steak sandwich) and the bread was completely soggy. Also the steak was not trimmed and contained tons of fat and gristle. My wife's chicken sandwich was equally tasteless and her bread was even soggier than mine. My daughter had the kids pasta which looked more like Alfredo soup with noodles and my son had the chicken strips which were so crunchy and well done he could barely chew (he is 2yo). I had to remove the batter to help him eat. Even after all this I tried to keep a positive attitude where at a restaurant chain I would have been talking to a manager. After we finished eating we received the bill. They had charged me for the kids meals! I asked why and the waitress responded that my wife and I did not get entrees. Well those nasty sandwiches were $10 and $12 meals where most dinner entrees were $10-$15. I don't understand how we paid the same amount but our kids meals would not be covered. We picked sandwiches because we thought it was a safe choice. But not as though that was enough the waitress said that the kids free deal was Sunday after 3pm. The menu DID NOT SAY THAT AT ALL. There was no mention of time, just that Sunday kids meals are free with adult entree. I think we would have had a better Sunday lunch at jimmy johns. This will be my first and last visit to Wixom station. I will support the other great restaurants in the city. read more

We went to Wixom Station for dinner again and I'm afraid it is most likely our last visit. The food and service has been on an exponential decline! It was a group of 4 and two babies. I'm afraid the kid's tenders and fries were favored over all of our adult dinners. Womp womp!! We tried a couple of salads and two steaks - NY Strip and Filet. My Cobb salad was not good. I asked for Caesar instead of ranch and they gave me some type of vinaigrette instead, it was gross. I asked for it with grilled chicken and it was literally a piece of plastic. It was a cold piece of leather. I had two bites and left the rest. No thanks!! That wasn't even the worst part. My husband ordered the Filet and upgraded to the 12 oz and asked for it medium. What arrived was a 12 oz Filet that was WELL DONE sitting in a pool of grease!! It was disgusting and we would have said something except we have a baby that won't relax in a high chair waiting for a second entree to cook. My hubby also hated the accompanying veggies - he hated the steamed and flavorless beans. So as you can imagine we were pretty appalled to shell out $40 bucks for a piece of sad steak. Visited this restaurant a few times now, have to say the spinach and artichoke dip is amazing! I ordered the flat iron steak, which came with a side salad if that's what you call one slice of cucumber and a tiny bit of tomato and not so good lettuce. The steak was OK but the vegetables were obviously frozen and hadn't been cooked thoroughly so were watery. My friend had the cob salad, he question the chicken, hot cold? Fresh frozen (had frozen/processed chicken on a salad here last year, waitress was very embarrassed by it back then, so hoped it was not the same). Told it was definitely fresh! Well it definitely was not! When you go to a restaurant you expect fresh top quality ingredients and not processed and frozen. read more

Decor and setup is great! Our waitress could not have cared less she forgot to bring us our drinks didn't ask if we wanted another one when they were empty, gave us the checks before we were done and stood in the corner watching/waiting for us to pay. Low and behold the second we put our cc in the mason jar she ran right over and took them. Food sub par. Finally tried this place and it was really great, way above my expectations . The staff was nice and attentive , and the service was quick but the food was the star . The flat iron steak was really tender, juicy and has a great taste, the mash potatoes are just like my mom would make and have the perfect consistency. Considering the excellent service, good pricing and quality of the food the Wixom Station is absolutely 5/5. My only complaint was the lighting in the booth. I really wanted to like this place but nothing won me over. Overview: Had an early dinner on a Sunday, 3:00pm, 4 adults and 2 children. Handful of people at the bar, 3 booths seated so the place was not busy. Greeted warmly at the door and seated right away. Server #1 appeared quickly to take drink orders and drop off the bottle of water as noted in other reviews. We received our drinks but were not ready to order yet and asked for a few minutes. A few minutes later Server #1 comes back with Server #2 beside her. At that point Server #2 seemed to take over, although there wasn't any explanation for what was going on. We placed our orders - 3 entrees, 1 salad, 2 kids' meals. Two of the adult entrees received their salads pretty quickly (and my wife asked for a glass of wine at that point) but I did not get the soup I had ordered. 5-8 minutes passed and my wife flagged down Server #2 so I could ask for my soup and my wife's wine. Soup and wine were delivered, the soup was a tomato seafood chowder that lacked seafood. "Tomato vegetable chowder" would have been an appropriate name. Shortly after receiving my soup the meals were brought out, so I was less than halfway through eating my soup. My son did not get the BBQ sauce he asked for with his kid's chicken fingers and my dish was wrong (ordered tortellini, fettuccine with chicken was brought out), which gave me more time to enjoy my vegetable chowder. The tortellini with chicken arrived a short time later and appeared to have been thrown together quickly, presentation was not appealing. All meals were "okay" to "pretty good", nothing stood out. Upon completion of dinner my kids asked for the scoop of ice cream that comes with a kids' meal and were told no because kids eat free on Sundays and that does not include the ice cream. Needless to say my kids were pretty disappointed, so we went across the street to DQ. Food - 2 stars. Nothing was memorable or stood out. Service - 1.5 stars. Later in the meal Server #2 said it was her first week, so that partially explained the 2 server system. At times service was attentive, at times it wasn't. Considering the restaurant wasn't busy I expected better service. The cold way the Server told us the kids do not get ice cream on Sundays lost points, too. Decor - 3 stars. Interesting train meets taxidermy theme. I get the train part but the stuffed animals with train tracks coming out of mouths, etc. was a bit odd. read more

I met a girlfriend here for lunch one day, and then ordered carry out another evening, and it was all fine. That's the best way I have of describing the place...food was fine...some of it was actually good, the spinach artichoke dip comes with this warm pita bread that is really good. My friend said her soup was good...my salad could have been good, but when they say served with balsamic, they actually mean served with only balsamic...perhaps turning that into a vinaigrette would be better. The service was fine. Atmosphere...fine. I mean...it is what it is. It seems to be lacking in direction; which is fine if you're looking for a normal restaurant...which we don't have a lot of around here; however I prefer a place that has a little identity or pizazz. I cannot say enough good things about our experience here! We started out with the hand-battered, fried FRESH mushrooms. They were not frozen or mushy and perfectly fried. The salad was so fresh and the produce was cold and crisp. The house vinaigrette was perfect. We both had the NY strip steak and it was prepared with a zip sauce. It was perfectly cooked to order and the manager, Katie told us that all of their steaks are hand cut, in house. It was just as good if not better than any steakhouse. Tried this place for the first time last night. The food was very good. The burger was tasty and they claim made from fresh meat--the pretzel bun option was worth the up charge! Our waitress was bubbly and tried hard to please. We also had a pizza--the Wixom station. Sliced Italian sausage with bacon onion and peppers. Very tasty toppings. The crust was crisp, but not too crumbly. We ate outside , which was pleasant. Even though the evening turned stormy, we were snug and dry. We will return. read more

I was slightly disappointed by this place, especially since we live so close. We were really hoping for a great draft beer selection but they only have a few, nothing you can't order somewhere else. My first impression was that the menu was a bit pricey. We started with the fried pickles and they were nothing special. For entrees we ordered the burger and filet salad. The burger was actually very tasty. The salad was good but for $14 I wouldn't order it again. The few bites of filet it did have were cooked well done. Their margherita pizza is one of the best in the Great Detroit and their Entries (Calamari, Shrimp) and Michigan Salad are pretty good. I highly recommend this place. read more

My wife and two of our friends went there on a Thursday. I got the chicken avocado sandwich which was okay. My wife got the Michigan salad, which was not good. The chicken on her salad was like rubber. This is after the waitress, who was very nice said everything is cooked in house. We will try it again in a year if they are still open. I like to support local businesses but our experience was disappointing. My mother, my son, and I wanted to dine out after my son's high school graduation at a location where my 76 year old mother could drive back to her home in White Lake before dark. We were seated and were served soft drinks then sat for a very long time before the server took our order. Our food took so long that we were considering leaving. When the meals finally arrived we had to ask for carryout boxes for 2 of us. The excuses we got from the server for the delay in taking our order was that she had a lady asking a lot of questions that she had to go back to ask the kitchen multiple times. And after our food was served we were told there was only one fryer working and everyone ordering fried food. Something that would have been helpful to know before we placed our order. The railroad theme is charming but if Robert Ervine walked into this place he would have a field day. Why all the stuffed animal trophies on the walls? That's unappetizing even though we're not vegetarian. How do hunting trophies relate to the railroad? Roadkill? The previous owners were Volare an Italian restaurant so why so much Italian food on the menu? We could have gone across the street where they moved. 2 stars for cleanliness and I think that the wait staff is trying but undertrained. read more

Have been back a few times and love it! I still love the fish tacos, and still say offering corn tortillas would make a simple gluten free option. Friends have ordered the chicken piccata, and it was awesome. The salads are gorgeous, and huge, with big fresh berries, etc. I would recommend this restaurant! At their soft opening...We tried this newest addition to downtown Wixom. Mixed reaction from my group. I had the tomato basil soup to start - very good. Had the fish tacos and they were great! Grilled fish and nice slaw (without the heavy cream dressing) with green salsa on the side. My only suggestion would be to offer corn tortillas, as their menu mentions GF options. Now, we sat in the bar area and the bartender was our server, and that might explain some of this. Those of us who ordered soup were served the soup before the entree, as expected. Those who ordered salad (small salad before entree) received their salad with their entree. Next time will make sure to specify we would like salads before entree. However, server did say the kitchen got behind with salads, so who knows. Other comments from my group: Steak sandwich was served on a mushy roll. Regular fries were great! Shoestring fries were not. Seared Cajun Filet Salad was good, but dressing was almost entirely oil and served in a black plastic cup so hard to see how much oil vs. vinegar. Lobster Ravioli was bad. Sauce was sweet. Menu says that adding a salad to the entree is $2.50(+/-) but doesn't say that it means only a basic green salad so we caused a bit of trouble by ordering Greek and Caesar salads, which the kitchen handled very well and worked out a nice compromise with fries so the orders made sense. Breadsticks were fantastic! Overall, we will be back. I'm sure any kinks will be worked out and changes made as they go. Revisited with the family and it wasn't good. Not really, no. I went for the margarita pizza and it felt like I could've had better by cooking a frozen pizza. The cheese/dough felt cheep and then they just throw on a tomato slice onto every pizza slice, no seasoning or anything. It was basically a cheap cheese pizza with tomato that they've somehow dubbed margarita. This place is getting good reviews so there must be *something* on the menu worth ordering but for the life of me, I just can't find it. The staff seemed nice, which is a appreciated, and they have an interesting way of serving water where they give you this huge, interesting sort of bottle. It's a nice touch. read more
