This little jewel I found on yelp, I originally went a few months back. I was not pleased with the service but I gave them another shot because I LOVE Chinese food and this place is close to my house. Anywhoooo, I called in an order and She was super sweet and detailed in telling me what came with the lunch special. It's well price. I ordered the KungPao chicken and it was delicious. If you like a kick of spice then I recommend it. They also had 10% discount going on as well which was a sweet cherry on top. Def my new fav Chinese takeout spot. read more

I've been on a search for decent Chinese food since moving to Houston and this place did NOT disappoint! The food was so good we didn't even have time to take a picture. We got the vegetable crispy spring rolls, General Tso chicken and chicken fried rice. Everything was fresh and well seasoned. The portion sizes were pretty big. Price was excellent (only $18 for everything listed). My husband said his fried rice was good but he wishes they had put a little more egg and onion in his plain fried rice. This is a small place and isn't really a restaurant. I did not like the smell and it did not look too clean but the food was really good. I got the pork dumplings and the combination rice. Everything tasted really good but I couldn't get over the smell. Great prices and food but the inside could use some work. Overall a good lunch spot especially if you order delivery. read more

Thought I would try for lunch since it is close to our office. Hands down the absolutely worst Asian food I have ever eaten! The hot and sour soup was spoiled and tasted really bad. The fried rice is just cooked brown rice which I hate. The King Pao was dripping with grease on top and nasty. Won't ever make this mistake again. Just put my lunch in the trash. read more

I ordered the lo mein, General tso's chicken and egg rolls. My favorite thing was by far the eggrolls, they weren't greasy and tasted freshly made! The lo mein was great too, I wasn't the biggest fan of the General Tso's chicken, while the flavor was there, i just prefer my chicken cut into smaller bites and there were just large in my opinion. We swear by this place! One of the only places on this side of town with a great general tso chicken. Delivery is always on time and the food is amazing! This place is great! I ordered lunch I got the Hunan shrimp wonton soup veggie egg roll and cream puffs and only paid $8.60! The food was hot fresh and delicious. Situated cozily in a little center off the SW Freeway, Wok 1 dishes up some very good food at incredible prices. The prices are even better when you consider the portion sizes and specials. The menu is quite extensive for the size of the place. That doesn't mean they can't do all the menu items well, though. A brief overview of the menu: appetizers are spring rolls, steamed and pan fried dumplings, crab puffs, spicy garlic wings, ribs and more; soups are: hot and sour and won ton; entrees can be selected from chicken, beef, pork and seafood. Rice is available in steamed or pork fried, beef fried, chicken fried, vegetable and specialty fried. The dishes I have noshed on are sweet and sour chicken, General Tsao chicken, Mongolian beef, beef and broccoli and Kung Pao chicken. General Tsao chicken and Mongolian beef are spicy. The spiciness is a good kick to the taste buds without being overwhelming. You won't find your tongue feeling as though someone cast the Incendio charm upon it, i.e. your mouth won't be on fire. I've enjoyed the meals I've eaten from here. The meats are good quality with no gristly, stringy toughness. This is a good place to come for a light or full meal. Lunch and dinner specials are offered with the dinner specials being $1.50 more in price than the lunch. The specials offerings are under $10 each, even for dinner. You can't beat that, especially when you, again, consider the portion sizes. The restaurant itself is very small. There are two tables designed for one person or two and a few chairs for those waiting for to go orders. This establishment is designed for mainly pick up or delivery orders. Delivery, within a certain radius, is free of charge with a $15 minimum. Cool fact: pick up orders are a 10% discount. The service is timely and efficient. The meal is packed with cardboard pieces separating them to aid in stability during transport. They are generous with sauces which is a plus. Staff is very polite and friendly. You can tell they've got a good following by the locals who come in and they know them by name. As for my dinner, I ordered the Kung-Pao Chicken. I like it spicy, but this was slightly below medium, but with good flavor. I ordered the appetizer for one w/ my dinner and that came with an egg roll, chicken wing, some type of pork stick(?), and a shrimp. Overall, pretty good. The kung pao had big chunks of chicken and big chunks of vegetables. I prefer mine to be cut up a little smaller because I can get a few different flavors in one bite, instead of just eating a piece of chicken or bell pepper. That's just my preference, though. About standard as far as take out goes. It will serve as my stand by when I want take-out Chinese! Plus, they're super nice. That's always a plus! read more

The lunch specials are pretty good. Lot's of dishes to choose from for about $5-$6.75 each, which all come with a really yummy (pretty LARGE) egg roll, a soup (the hot and sour soup is much better than other places that I've tried. Here it's not thick like jello but actually a soupy consistency and is actually sour) and either fried rice or steamed rice! We ordered monoglian beef (with fried rice and wonton soup), curry chicken (with egg drop soup and steamed rice) and shrimp and broccoli (with hot and sour soup and steamed rice). The shrimp are relatively huge compared to other cheap chinese eateries and they taste fresh, and for this reason I usually don't order shrimp so this was a nice outcome to a risky choice. Because my family cooks Chinese food at home, I didn't think the food was particularly amazing, but for quick meals when we are too busy to cook, this place will do just fine :) I picked up the food and they do a 10% discount for pick-up orders and paid in cash so I don't know if they do credit cards or not. It seems like a nice family business because the daughter answers the phone calls and speaks English perfectly, while the dad seems to be in charge of the kitchen. Nice place. read more

Chinese food has a special place in my stomach, I mean heart. Wok One definitely fills that void in my life, and my stomach. The phone order taker at Wok One is excellent, and rarely makes a mistake. However, be sure to check your take out bag, you don't want to leave without that extra sweet and sour sauce (trust me on that, it's no fun). Everything but the seafood is on par with the other greats of its class. The entire menu so far is very good. We've had one bad dish though. I'm not much of a seafood person, but my shrimp in their Triple Happiness dish overwhelmed the chicken and beef with a frozen fish flavor. Not good. Service was fast, and to end the rumors, YES, they offer 10% off the entire order when you pick up. Don't let that scare you away from delivery, though. But it's so close to residential Stafford and Meadows Place, it's worth stopping by after a quick and easy phone order. When you find a better egg drop soup in the area, let me know. The House Lo Mein which has shrimp, chicken, and beef was good but drenched in sauce. It would have easily given someone with poor health a heart attack. The veggie dumplings aren't good but that's expected. I'm sure the pork ones are great. The chicken fried rice is good..not heavy at all. Strictly a take out American Chinese food shack, no place to sit and eat. You won't find the authentic stuffs on the menu, but this type of Chinese foods still taste good and I like them. Delivery is available for the surrounding neighborhood, but 10% off for self pick-up. You can order online or by phone. I ordered cream cheese puffs, sesame chicken, eggplant in garlic sauce, veggie lo mein, and shrimp with lobster sauce. All the dishes were nicely seasoned and portioned. Thr prices were reasonable, my bill was less than $37. Definitely a better option than Panda Express and Pei Wai. read more

I was looking for Chinese. After seeing if there was a Panda Express close by and failing I decided to use Yelp and help me find a Chinese food place. Wok One came up and was very close and has food ready in ten minutes. I had the chicken fried rice which is among the best I've had and the egg drop soup was great. My daughter had sweet and sour chicken and she ate every bite. She loved it so much she ate the adult portion and she is a very tiny 8 year old. I guess it was that delicious. Prices are great, they are quick, and the food is delicious. Win win win. read more

What a wonderful surprise to find this gem right near our own neighborhood! The 'Free Delivery' on the menu attached to my front door is what got my attention. When I called in our order, the voice at the other end was so sweet, pleasant, and patient. (That can often set the tone for a meal going one way or another.) Still, we expected the same old fare. Boy, were we surprised. Top quality food. Every single dish we ordered. The egg drop and wonton soups were absolutely superb... and hot! And the crispy noodles! The noodles! We could tell they had just been cooked. Perfection. I'm ordering twice as many next time. (Oh, let me mention here that the delivery was excellent. It was promptly delivered by a very nice man and was packaged so securely, with nothing spilled! Tip the delivery guy!) The egg foo yung - yes, they have egg foo yung! Many kinds! - was absolutely fabulous. Better than any I've tasted in decades! We also had a wonderful shrimp dinner, but I forgot which one it was. It dissappeared as soon as it hit our table. We are really looking forward to ordering from Wok One again in the near future. They have a very interesting menu and we can't wait to try some of the other dishes on it. I had high hopes for this place as I've been looking for great Chinese food for a while. The reviews were good, so I called in a to go order. I liked that they had a coupon, but the food wasn't the best. I ordered the sesame chicken and it came with fried rice, soup choice, and an egg-roll. The wonton soup was bland, and the chicken was soggy and just not up to par. I'm allergic to egg-rolls so I didn't eat that. The rice was decent, but overall this place was a let down. That is hard to say because the owners and promptness of the order were fantastic! I may give them another try, but I'm hesitant due to my food this first go round. read more

Wok One has become my Go2 takeout place when I'm craving Chinese. I've tried the Sweet & Sour Chicken, House Lo Mein and the Kung Pao Chicken along with the egg drop soup and egg rolls. All dishes have been really flavorful and still hot by the time I get them home. Lunch specials here can't be beat. Just order before 3pm. Great prices and you get a lot for what you pay for! They only deliver or you can pick-up, but no dining inside. I lived nearby AND you get 10% off when you pick-up, so I never ordered delivery. Definitely my favorite chinese takeout due to price and location in Sugarland. Absolutely love their Chicken with Broccoli. They also have good Kung Pao Chicken, as well as authentic tasting eggdrop soup and wontons.
