Ok, this will go fast! It really didn't do it for me, Because, I expected chic. If you offer white linen on the table for dining on Saturday, you should deliver. As always, my reviews are not about food, it is about the feel of the place. The staff: super friendly and definitely eye candy for all. The kitchen is open for you to see the operation, I couldn't find a not so good looking person in the staff. Bravo! The decor may need freshen up, the dinning chairs are comfortable, the view is ok, the concept of being suspended is fabulous! The food, pretty and tasty plates There is one (1) Dutch wine on the menu, they need to get some from Grootebroek at the Plack (promoting, lol) the wine they serve is the same as KLM serves, it is ok! The toilets are clean This not a restaurant, I will remember, there was nothing magical about it except the curiosity part. Would I recommend it, sure Will I go back. Nah!

IN A SENTENCE: Beyond expectation in every way. ATMOSPHERE: Reclaimed industrial waterfront building with a touch of modern European flair. FOOD: Though the menu is limited, the quality is unsurpassed. SUGGESTION: Porchetta, Sea Bass, Strawberries & Vanilla SERVICE: Attentive without being overbearing. BONUS: The welcome box.

Update: What a fiasco! From the moment we walked in it was like a circus. You would think that someone would ask us if we wanted to have a seat or if we had reservations. We just sort of stood there for a few minutes before anyone even acknowledged our presence. Vince said our table was almost ready to have a drink at the bar while we wait. The bar was so busy with confusion that we were not even able to do this. Once at the table, and I mean moments after we sat down, we were saying how the ambience is OK but it's far far too loud and we don't like being there. Just as this was said the server dropped a plate and knife on my girlfriends neck! It was really a bad drop and she was not feeling good the rest of the meal. We wanted to leave right away but they brought us a glass of prosecco to say sorry. As for the meal, the appetizers were good and presented beautifully. For the main course though he got our order wrong and brought Foie Gras instead of the lamb. We really weren't too excited about any of the dishes and the menu is quite small so we had to wait for them to cook the lamb. Of course because they decided to rush this order and it was basically Raw meet with tendons. Just absolutely disgusting to eat. The flavor was there but the dish was in edible. So much so in fact that as we were trying to share it all I could think of was leaving there so I couldn't go buy some patats. We even thought to bring the meat home to the dog but decided that wouldn't be good for her even. Luckily for us and for them they decided to comp this dish because it was brought out wrong. They were certainly sorry about everything but the damage was done. I almost forgot about the wine! We decided to get a bottle of Malbec but then were told they were out of it. When you only have 15 red wines on the menu how can you be out of one of them? He then suggested a South African read for €10 more. This wine was basically undrinkable. We really had to choke it down because we purchased a whole bottle. Such a shame. I am downgrading my three star review to two and even that is being lenient. I have been on the fence whether to give it one star this whole time now. We will certainly never ever go back to see if they can redeem themselves. This was already the third try. We can't waste our money like that anymore.

High recommended resto in Amsterdam. The chef previously worked at a 1-star michelin resto and started his own resto. Quality of food is really up to standard of a 1-star and very good value too. Very friendly staff as well. The minus is the location is quite hard to find for a tourist. Not close to central station. Need a good 15 min walk. We really liked the flexibility of the menu. If you have a big tummy with lots of time, there is a 15-course meal. If not, there are 4 or 5 courses meal, or a-la-cart. Food are tasty and creative. A lot of choices in wine and not expensive. Just 6-8 euro for a glass. We ordered a 5-course plus two a-la-cart and 4 glasses of wine plus a bottle of water. Total came to 118euro. Really enjoyed it.

And despite ALL of our meals in Amsterdam being excellent, this one may have been the best. We wanted to try Dutch food, not totally knowing what to expect and were blown away by the combination of flavors and textures we consumed. We started with the pickled herring which was served with onions and pickles- fresh yet bold! I'm still thinking about those little fishies weeks later. Then we each had the sampler-ish plates (I forget what it was called). Hers was the vegetarian version and mine was with sausage. There were 3 kinds of essentially mashed potatoes with veggies mixed in: 1 with spinach I think, 1 with carrots, and 1 with sauerkraut. Mine came with a delightfully rich gravy and my moms came with some kind of lighter yellow sauce (I think mustard based). We tried these same dishes at other Dutch restaurants during our stay, but nothing beat The Pantry. The service in this quaint and cozy spot was also excellent!

Portions are substantial and a very good value in a neighborhood where tourist-markups are the norm. They have a/c, but in order to feel it you'll need to sit closer to the back of the restaurant/near the kitchen, as there is only one wall unit back there, and they leave the front of the restaurant open to the elements (even in 98+ degree heat).

I found it browsing Yelp, and the name alone told me this was going to be a meat-forward kind of night. Fair warning if you're bringing anyone squeamish about restaurant names: The wife wasn't thrilled about it going in, though the food won her over fast. Getting there was its own small adventure. The place sits down a narrow alley, and our Uber couldn't get us all the way to it, which turned into a bit of a hike. That happened to us more than once in Amsterdam, using the exact address didn't always mean the driver could actually reach the door, so budget a few extra minutes if you're headed here. I normally default to steak, but the menu had a burger topped with pulled pork that promised more meat than a straight cut, and I couldn't pass it up. Delicious. Genuinely one of the best burgers I've had. But the wife's flat iron steak might have stolen the night. Flat iron is one of the most underrated cuts out there, and this kitchen proved it. She was still talking about that steak days after we got home, enough that I ended up buying flat irons from Costco just to chase it. The atmosphere is cool and a little edgy, dim lighting, a lot of character, and yes, some genuinely creepy decor scattered around, including an old doll that stares at you like it's judging your order. It ran loud, but not so loud we couldn't hold a conversation across the table. Service was good, just on European time rather than American time. Getting the check took a while, which threw us off at first, but that's the norm across the EU, not a knock on this place specifically. Pricey, but worth every bit of it. We'd go back without hesitation next time we're in Amsterdam.

It was very warm in the place, so keep that in mind if you're traveling in Amsterdam during a heat dome! We had a couple servers who worked with us nd both were kind and friendly. They didn't quite communicate with each other about our need to split the check a specific way, but it worked out in the end. We enjoyed some cocktails and beer (ranging from 9.50 Euro to 12 Euro), as well as the Pork Belly and Pickles to start off (21.50 Euro for 300 grams). Tasty way to start the meal. The three of us shared our mains and enjoyed what we had. The Favorite Ribs (24.50 Euro) were flavorful; the L'Incroyable 300gr (Ribeye; 34.50 Euro) was good, but our least favorite of what we ordered; the Le Cannibale Royale 170gr (burger) was super tasty. We also enjoyed some frites (4.90 Euro) and some delicious Mac n Cheese (6.50 Euros). Good time and good food!

We were attracted by their bountiful vegetarian options. I'm going to start with one of my dining companions who ordered the small vegetarian platter as her meal and freaked out that it would be too big after ordering it. It was pretty big but to no one's surprise, she had no problem tackling the whole thing. It contained a little sampling of many of their vegetarian options including a hummus, cheese, jackfruit something, a salad, rolls, and vegan sausage. This is a great way to try a bunch of different things or a solution if you can't decide what to order. GF and I did a similar sampling and ordered a few items to share: vegetarian or vegan (can't remember) bitterballen, vegan sausage sandwich, fries, and I couldn't resist trying MUSTARD SOUP. We had made our decision on the first few items but at the buzzer when placing our order, I noticed "mustard soup" and had to inquire what on earth that was. The waitress explained that it is literally mustard, cream, and broth and as as a mustard stan, I couldn't let this opportunity pass me by and added that to the order. The mustard soup was actually amazing, had onions which I hate but it was so good I was able to overlook that. The bitterballen were crispy and tasty. The vegan sausage sandwich was nothing outrageous but simple and got the job done. The fries include regular shoe-string fries, curly fries, and sweet potato fries with 3 dipping sauces. Don't ask me what the sauces were or which one I preferred because they were all satisfying in their own way. This is a great order to share. I'm glad we stopped by, I love their vegetarian/vegan options, menu diversity, and shareable dishes.
