We weren't too hungry due to all the snacks wait at the movie theater but we shared two pasta dishes, salad and the biscoff cookie dessert. My son and I met a friend at Wolfsglen, to relax with some dinner and drinks after attending an event in Hollywood. The service was great. They were patient with us, as we were taking our time chatting over drinks. The cocktails were good. I didn't order one of the custom menu libations, I went with one of my main standbys: a vodka martini. We shared the steak tartare appetizer, and we all agreed that it was quite tasty. For my main course, I ordered the Cacio Pepe. It did not come off as completely authentic to my taste (I'm forever chasing the Roman experience), but it was delicious. My son got the Rigatoni Diavola, and he said that it was great. Our friend ordered an interesting pizza which had espresso as an ingredient. It was different. We liked it. We have been regular, devoted patrons of Wolfsglen for several years. It's been our go-to spot for pre-theater dinner before the nearby Geffen Playhouse (we've always liked the food, drinks, and waitstaff...), but we have HAD IT with how they treat us. Tonight - and twice before this - we arrived for our confirmed reservation only to find a note on the door with some excuse about why they're closed. Once it was because of a private party, another time because a chef quit or something, and tonight it was because of some electrical issue. Cannot tell you how infuriating this is when you have limited time before getting to the theater, with few options so last minute! At NO TIME did anyone even try and reach us (hello?! You have our emails and phone numbers!!) to let us know at any point that we should make alternate plans. The last time this occurred - not even a year ago - I wrote a nearly identical upset rant, swore we'd never return, and then received such a "sincere" apology from someone connected to the restaurant that we decided to give it another chance. No more: we'll miss going to Wolfsglen, it was a lovely ritual when it worked out but if patrons cannot rely on the place being open, or even being TOLD it was closing for the night, then forget it. And finding out every few months that some new calamity has occurred only because we show up and find a sign on the door? We're done. No other restaurant in my entire life has had these issues. Have you noticed that I have been complaining that there are fewer interesting restaurants in Westwood than there were a couple of decades ago? Some of my old faves are gone but this weekend I forced myself to actually walk around Westwood Village a bit and discovered that, despite the preponderance of chains, a couple of indy spots are there. They are new to me but not necessarily to Westwood. Faith restored! Let's talk about one of them: Wolfsglen. I have nothing but good, if not great, things to say. It is conveniently located on Glendon, right in the heart of the action. This weekend it is clear the fall semester is underway and things were bustling. So much so that I worried I couldn't find good parking but did, right around the corner at a two hour meter. Yay! Lovely autumn temps and sunshine added to a nice little walk to Wolfsglen. It is a bit mysterious from the outside, but you get it once you go in. And, wow, it's spacious and modern. Very clean, the seats are comfy, there are screens for entertainment (a vintage movie and some clever electronic paintings, for example). The tables are sturdy marble, the cutlery is hefty, and the thick snow white napkins are actually made of linen. Wow. The menus shown online do not do the actual menus justice, especially for brunch. We were there around 1:30 pm and you can see all the offerings on one of my pictures. Plenty of stuff for vegetarians. All I had to do was ask that they hold the meat on one of my selections. I would call the list "Westwood fusion", reflecting the various tastes that populate this beautiful college town. The portions are really generous, the quality of the food is first rate, even the coffee was exceptional (Lavazza?). Our server, Eddie was so kind, generous, and charming that we were basically bowled over by him. He noticed things on the table, arranged everything for our comfort, brought the food in stages as if he read our minds, and then went even further to make this an exceptional experience by giving us little perks that made us vow to return. And, the tab was downright awesome -- we had to look twice to believe our eyes. The take home boxes are microwavable and dishwasher safe, and without any prompting Eddie brought us a tall bag for them. The fries were some of the best I have ever had, the labneh was so flavorful that I didn't want to stop eating it. There was a fresh Caesar salad side with something toasty and crunchy and garlicky on top. And, do you see the pita? Home made and top of the line. I am a baker, I know what it takes to make pita like that! As if that wasn't enough, there is entertainment twice a month, with dancing (!!) and a full bar if you just want to stop in for a snack and brew. Then, just to make sure I was over the moon, they sent me a thank you note for dining there. What?! Who does that!? I may miss some of the oldies, but Wolfsglen more than makes up for that. I've always loved this location, especially since my UCLA days. It was a nice place to go instead of the usual Brew Co nights we would have in the 2010s. However this was my first time dining here since it became Wolfsglen and it is all around amazing. Definitely an upgrade from its days as The Glendon. Nestled in the heart of westwood, this place has an upscale ambiance without the pretension you'd expect from a fancy looking establishment. The lighting is at a comfortable level. They have lots of booth seating and the chairs and barstools are very comfortable. The pricing is very reasonable especially weighed against the experience. Tonight I ate at the bar to celebrate a small yet important personal victory so I ordered the Steak Frites. The cut was tender and the Au jus was amazing. It was almost a reduction in its consistency. I made sure to finish that off with my French fries. The fries. Omg the fries are so crispy and thin, which is kind of dangerous because I finished off a whole bowl by myself and hardly noticed. Of course, I was celebrating so I had to save room for dessert. The Nutty Butty was incredible. The brownie bites and mouse were very palatable and the peanut butter ice cream had a little bit of saltiness to it that made for the perfect combination of salty/sweet, creamy and a little bit chewy. I usually insist on a table, but the bar looked welcoming and honestly I really enjoyed my dining experience there. The barkeep was very friendly and the TV was muted with subtitles which kept the vibes casual. Not that I wanted to, but you could still see what was going on with sportscenter if you wanted to. Wolfsglen offers elevated cuisine in an intimate setting. I've only been for lunch on a few occasions, so I'm not sure what their dinner service is like, but the lunch service is very slow. Always polite, just slow. This isn't a knock on the server, I think it's more just being understaffed during early lunch. Everything I've had here has been really good. They have a pretty good burger, and I really enjoyed their Brown Butter Labneh. Time before last I tried their Gorgonzola and pear pizza, I can't remember all of the ingredients but can recall it being really good. Arrived yesterday for our 6:30 pm dinner reservation only to find Wolfsglen closed. An eviction notice dated June 18 was pasted on the window. They didn't contact us, and their website has not been updated. In fact, you can still make a reservation. Don't do it unless you want to be disappointed. It was cool, though. We found Violet, a fabulous hidden gem nearby with excellent food, service and ambience. Oh, and they hadn't been evicted. A real plus. read more

We previously had a birthday party for 15 upstairs in private room and that was fantastic. This review is for the experience on 4/3/2024 First, they put a party of 7 with reservation to a table for 6. We had to cram in very hard. One part of my fault is we actually had an extra person so 8. We asked to switch to a table that include 8 seat which they said no your party has 6. I insisted no we booked for 7. They put a party of 5 in a table for 8 ?? (See photo with blue heart) The food took SO LONG to come out. It took them 30-40 minutes after we ordered to get the food. Also the burger was supposed to be medium rare but received well done. Overall the other service is great. Those are just a few of my recent complaint. I saw rave reviews and booked a table for brunch. It was the most underwhelming brunch I've ever had. Our server literally said "Who's next?" for each of us while taking our order- WHAT? So impolite! The place was nearly empty and the food (eggs) took over 45 minutes. The bacon was dry as the desert, and their hash browns were those McDonald's-style ones, also tasteless. Our waiter never came back to refill our glasses. I can't understand why this place gets good reviews. I suspect they pour heavy cocktails; no one in our party drank so perhaps we were missing out on the secret. Either way, the food was meh and the service was worse. At this exact location used to sit an LA legend, the Mustache Cafe! When it closed (20 years ago? Maybe longer?) I felt a precious piece of my Westwood memory went with it. When so friends invited me to dinner at Wolfsglen, I was a little afraid that I might be disappointed... but thanks to the wonderful team at Wolfsglen, I wasn't -- I was actually quite happy with the food, the service, and the nice dining experience here. The place was completely renovated (from my memory 20 years ago, of course) and has a modern and open vibe. Casual and relaxing but a flair of fine dining. The service was excellent; attentive but not too much. We (a party of 5) had the table right next to the entrance but felt like we had a space all to our own. We ordered a few appetizers but they were gone before I could snap any photos. Of the entrees, I think the pork chop is definitely the best -very tender and big enough to feed two. The hanger steaks were nice but seem a bit small. The cauliflower steak was nice too, for the vegetarians among us. The chocolate bomb was a blast! The ricotta donuts were tasty. All and all I'd say this place lived up to the old standards set by Mustache Cafe. Now, it may take them a while before they can reach the "legend" status, but I think they have a good chance! read more

The drinks were good, but wasn't a fan of the pizza. The dough on the bottom wasn't crisp so when you pulled it off the plate it flopped down and everything slid off. I had to eat it with a fork and knife. The crust was cooked fine, so that was a weird uneven cook. The service was also slow. My friend had to find us a waiter because we sat for a while without someone coming to take our order. Interior was nice and fun. As someone who's lived in Westwood for almost 6 years, I was so pleasantly surprised to stumble upon a hidden gem like @wolfsglenwestwood in @westwoodvillage . With beautiful, modern art-deco inspired interiors, Wolfsglen offers an ambient, vibey experience that is perfect for celebrating a special occasion or a date. Their menu offers quite a selection of well-curated cocktails, as well as Italian and American classics. While some of the dishes weren't my favorite, I would still recommend the bone marrow & wagyu pastrami, mushroom arancini, and pan roasted pork chop. Beautiful, moody and industrial. I love the vibe they've created at Wolfsglen. We came in with a group of 8 and had a wonderful dinner. We ordered family style and had the mushroom arancini, bone marrow pastrami, all the pastas (but asked for it gluten free bc we had someone with Celiac's), the ribeye and the roast chicken. The standouts were the bone marrow pastrami (must order!!!!) and the ribeye. I wish they had a better option for GF pasta. They only had rotini that was overcooked so the texture was very bleh. Since we asked for GF I can't say anything bad about it. I remember the sauces being good. We all tried a number of the cocktails they offered and everyone enjoyed their drinks. I loved their beautiful glassware. Our waiter was absolutely fantastic and happened to see a photo of my very large dog on my phone and he wrapped up the ribeye bone for him. We got a bit rowdy by the end of the night because it was a reunion and we started taking tequila shots but they were gracious and patient with us even as we closed them out for the night.
