I've been meaning to write this review... I came here at the beginning of June with some family celebrating a graduation. [[HIGHLIGHT]]First off, the ambiance was delightful! I love the little animal paintings on the wall, and the wall made of books. It wasn't too busy the day we went, which was nice since it wasn't too loud.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Now the food.... well that's the whole reason I'm writing this! I'm used to having dry af salmon at restaurants but this place blew my mind! I didn't know you were able to have your salmon cooked medium rare or well (like a normal steak), so when I was asked that I was taken back. I believed I chose on having it cooked medium. The whole dish -- flaky salmon, creamy cauliflower smash, well seasoned greens -- was an experience from start to finish. I haven't had a salmon dish that delicious in AGES!! Someone in the kitchen got down that day, so hats off to the chef! My fam was satisfied & they enjoyed their dishes as well. Unfortunately there was a mishap where some appetizers weren't brought out but we resolved that. The waiter was attentive & kind (and really handsome lol) I really wish I remembered his name, but he made the experience memorable as well. He was kind enough to step away from his duties to take a few group photos of my family. I'll def come back again, and next time I'll try their drinks! read more

No longer the Tuck Room, it's now the Huntsman. I'll start by saying the only reason this rating is a 2 and not a 1 is because the food was tasty. I'll preface everything below with the fact that there were only 3 tables of customers in the restaurant and several bar and wait staff. It was NOT busy. The service is terrible. We were greeted and seated quickly. The girl getting our water could not remember if we ordered ice or not. Two trips later, the three of us had water. Our server approached us quickly but we were not ready to order. From this point on, it was like we were invisible. We ordered one appetizer (Guacamole Fresca w/ chips), a burger and the short rib grilled cheese. Our entrees were served ahead of our chips and guacamole when I commented, we were told they were still working on the appetizer. Seems odd that it takes more time to serve chips and guacamole than it does to prepare the entrees. No apology or acknowledgement from any staff members. My beer glass and my son's water glass sat empty for 10 minutes. When we asked for refills, it took nearly another 10 minutes to receive the beverages. Our server NEVER came to check on us. We were NEVER asked how we were doing or if we wanted dessert. When asking for our check, the server had to bypass us twice and then told us that we had to fill out the receipt before the card could be run. In a city with so many dining choices, service is as important as food quality and taste. The new management has work to do or this will be another failed restaurant. Hands down the presentation of each plate is thought out. We start with crispy shrimp roll appetizer the roll is cook too crispy but the shrimp is not. The bolognese is not well seasoned lacks flavor. The steak frites is so rubbery I can't even cut it with knife while the fries is soggy. The salmon is fine. The Tuck Room was a last minute dinner venture for me and some friends to branch out from our Culver City bubble. Not too far of a journey, we found it quite easily and surprised to find is attached to the neighboring movie theater. The food was more gastropub food fare, drinks strong and service was super attentive and friendly. I would definitely consider coming back before catching a film but not necessarily a place I would venture back to for a stand alone meal. Ever look through your drawers and find a gift card you didn't remember you had? Well, I had one for the Tuck Room and happened to be in the area, so I decided to put it to use. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The Tuck Room is a nice place. The ambiance is pleasant, bordering on upscale, but not snooty.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It's located pretty much in the same "room" as the iPic theaters, so you could easily do dinner and a movie in the same place if you wanted to. I was put off by the service. I sat at the bar and was pretty much ignored the whole time. I had to ask for everything...a menu, if I could order, if I could pay, etc. It's not like they were slammed either. They seemed nice enough, but just didn't seem to be in much of a mood for providing good service. They didn't even bother to pick up my empty plates when I was done eating. It's the kind of service where I felt bad for leaving a tip because they didn't deserve it, but I left a 20% tip anyway. I had the Tuck Burger. $21. It's a big juicy 1/2 pound burger. It's messy in a good way, but it doesn't have much flavor. It was cooked to a perfect medium rare, just like I asked. Allegedly, it has guacamole, onion strings, and some other things on it but whatever they decided to put on it, the toppings were very sparse except for the lettuce. It would have helped a lot to have the toppings they listed to overcome the bland flavor of the hamburger.The burger needed some seasoning, too. Based on the description, it sounded great. I had no idea it had guac on it. If it did, it was spread paper-thin. It is a big burger, so that part is true! I didn't send it back, and they never even came to check on it until fifteen minutes after it was served. I figured, what's the use? It came with fries. They were soggy. Waaah!! The gift card took some of the sting out of a mediocre experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a pleasant environment if you want a quiet place to have a drink before or after the movie.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The people who work for the iPic theater are super nice. This restaurant truly makes the most sense for a pre-movie cocktail and food. They checked to see what time our movie started to make sure we had enough time to dine. And even if you ran out of time, you are welcome to take your food and drinks to the theater with you! I ordered a Tito's martini with a twist, extra cold and it was delicious. And came out super fast! Every time we ordered a drink, it came back within a few minutes. As for food, I ordered the steak frites. I was expecting a more traditional French steak frites (sliced steak with a sauce and thin fries) but what I got instead was a hefty NY strip and fries. It was still good, just not what I was expecting. The fries came with ketchup, garlic aioli, and ranch (which I asked for). The garlic aioli was the best dip. I am still in love with this place! We have had the most magical experiences treating upscale clients, friends and family at this restaurant! Every single person we have brought here has felt treated very well and loved the food! We got super lucky the first time! We had my daughter in law with us who was the pastry chef for double Michelin Star chef Chef Josiah Citrin while in college. Sherry Yard, the celebrity chef owner of The Tuck Room came out and sat with us throughout the meal. Listening to her and Kimberly talk pastry cooking was amazing! Almost as amazing as her Paloma dessert, which is heavenly! My mouth is full on watering right now just thinking about it! Then in a weird, God is here, twist of fate my dear friend and then president of the local teachers union and a foodie was with us! Well she and Sherry get to talking and found they actually grew up on the same block in Brooklyn NY! They knew people in common especially because Sarah's family is in the theater in NY so there was some overlap. And they knew old people, locals of Brooklyn... I was once again a fly on the wall of an extraordinary conversation! Then my darling daughter was invited to a premiere of the award winning movie, "The Big Sick", and brought me as her +1! The event was at the iPic theater there and they had worked with The Tuck Room so we got more if their delicious food and ended up hanging out with the darling creator and star of the movie, Kumail Nanjiani and his beautiful talented wife raving about the amazing food! They were very pleased that The Tuck Room had been chosen for their big event. Such a nice couple! We were so happy for their success and to get to be a part of this big night! Then my darling friend one of the largest real estate owning families who had originated 100 years ago in NYC wanted to go somewhere special! I called the Tuck Room and they put together a special menu for us that was served to us in the iPic theater as we viewed a movie she had wanted to see! Her family had been in Los Angeles since before she was born and still she grew up hearing the stories about New York and this was like getting to be a very experiential part of her family history. We saw some really fun girl power movie that was set in New York, of course! It's not cheap and it is fairly priced too for what you get! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I do not know another restaurant with the ambiance and fun of the Tuck Room for this value combined with their willingness to create a special time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] For me it is in my list of top 3 with Geoffrey's in Malibu, at sunset with those dolphins who they must be feeding because they always show up! We came for the Thanksgiving buffet. The server was extremely nice. We had a dinner reservation at 3:45 so we thought we'd also be there during happy hour since we got seated on the patio but we learned they weren't doing happy hour prices on Thanksgiving when we ordered our drinks. The amaretto sour I started with was really nice. Wasn't too sweet like they are often made, it was one of the best I have had! We ordered two wines after, both were really bad. It honestly tasted like the bottles were improperly stored or were in direct sunlight for too long. We got a white and a red and both were extremely acidic. It was difficult to drink and we only did because it was an expensive glass and we felt like we were wasting money by not drinking it. The cornbread and crab cakes were delicious! Oysters were good too. The prime rib was very good. The turkey was a bit dry. The shepherds pie had a visibly broken sauce so we didn't try it. They ran out of mashed potatoes and never restocked so that was a bit disappointing since we paid $70 for the buffet. The carrots were undercooked, more raw than cooked in the pieces we had. Brussels sprouts also were not crispy, more raw than cooked too. The tap water tasted a bit strange - our table of six agreed. I visited the Tuck Room with some of my classmates for their all-day happy hour. Aesthetically, this place is absolutely lovely. We loved the decor, especially the book wall! Happy hour prices and item quality were absolutely excellent. The Strawberry Fields instantly became a go-to that I've had each time I've returned, and the poblano artichoke dip was simply fantastic. I do want to note that happy hour was somewhat confusing: this only takes place at the bar, which required us to change our plans substantially as we had expected to have a place to sit. I'd love to see just a bit more clarity on this. The servers were all very friendly. Some of the servers were not super attentive, but others made up for this by being incredibly friendly throughout my two hours at the bar. Overall, I'm a huge fan of The Tuck Room and have eagerly returned on Wednesdays after classes. This has easily become a Westwood favorite! read more

This spot is so fun and whimsical. A hidden gem in Westwood. Situated right next to a movie theatre, The Tuck Room has spacious lounge seating and space for indoor dining. Fun artwork surrounds the venue and they have a great music selection! We came for drinks - I tried the Norma Jean which was a refreshing and fruity drink! Reminded me of a Starbucks Strawberry Acai Refresher + vodka. Would be a fun venue for a celebration. Service was fantastic. Our server had a big personality and was fun, welcoming, and attentive! We were seated right away and had fast service on a Friday night. Nachos Grande were good - $17 but serves 3 people as an appetizer so it works out to ~$5 per person. Drinks ranged between $13-$17. We ended up there following the Yelp recommendations for restaurants close to our hotel. It was a short stroll away and worth every little step. We actually though it was closed as the street view is quite dull and the main door with the name above was locked. The tinted dark windows did not help. So we stepped in the IPIC theatre that the restaurant serves and we were invited to choose any table. Loved the atmosphere straight away. It was quiet. The menu was plain enough to cover our basic needs and the cocktails exotic enough to make it feel a little special. The patrons were a super mega mix of us , just a regular couple, a young family celebrating their son's birthday and probably going to see a film next door straight after , date nights, people busy chatting with the super pleasant bar tenders. I had a great time here. I came for the all day happy hour on Wednesday. Worth noting this only takes place at the bar. I had two margaritas, which were great and poured strongly, and munched on some poblano artichoke dip and some truffle fries. I ran out of pita chips for the dip and my server so graciously offered to bring us some more, free of charge.
