You get more fries and drink for your dollar, however the hot dog was slightly on the smaller side (at least compared to SuperDawg). But I didn't walk away feeling like I was getting ripped off, like at SuperDawg. The service was good - speedy and friendly. Plenty of seating, though I wish there were some outdoor seating. And be aware that this is another hot dog place that is cash only. All in all, Wolfy's is a pretty good place for a classic Chicago hot dog. read more

Brough my girlfriend to Chicago to visit my parents. On our short list of things to do was to get an authentic Chicago Style Hot Dog. This was the closest authentic place to my parent's place. It did not fail to deliver. As soon as you pull into the parking lot you smell the deliciousness inside. And inside was exactly what you want in a hotdog joint, no frills, simple but everything done right. The list of toppings on the hotdog were exactly what they should be. Chicago food at its finest. Classic chi town dog joint with other stuff like beefs, burgers, chicken, and polishes. The dogs and polishes are awesome and the beefs are quite good as well. Great for burgers! I've not tried the full menu, but I've had the freshly flame grilled burgers repeatedly. Beware: It takes time to fry up a fresh burger. So don't go if you are in a rush, but it's so worth the wait if you have the time. The place can also get busy around the lunch time, and, after school hours, as it's located across the street from Mather High School. So, be prepared to encounter droves of wild, hungry teens from time to time. LOL It's a cool place! read more

Yesterday I bought an Italian beef..it was the worst that I've ever had from here. I've been eating from Wolfy's for over 20yrs. And was never disappointed until recently. French fries are McDonald's style which I love (I can't stand steak fries). Gyros taste like gyros from other places (I'm pretty sure Kronos has a monopoly in Chicago). Hot dog toppings have good proportions. Not a fan of pickle spears (I prefer the sliced kind) but that's a personal preference. Overall solid 4 stars. That's a GREAT hod dog!!! Wolfy's is a Chicago landmark and deserves all of the good praise it gets! Went on a late Saturday afternoon and the place was packed with families. That's always a good sign to me! The dog was an all beef Vienna Beef, so you know it was just about perfect! Typical Chicago-style toppings and a hot batch of fries to go along with it. I've lived in the area for 9yrs and I finally checked out Wolfy's, to my amazement coming from the west side of Chicago it is the bomb. I've tried the Italian Beef and Bacon Cheeseburger they are very good the environment is very nice. read more

My dad grew up going to this joint after school, and to my knowledge the place hasn't changed much (that's a good thing). I've only had the Chicago-style dogs, but they're VERY true to the classic Chicago style (all the ingredients, sesame seed bun, Vienna Beef, messy, etc.). The decor and feel of the place is also very classic, and has that gruff but warm atmosphere you'd expect from real Chicagoans. Don't come expecting glamor, because that's not in the Chicago hot dog tradition anywhere. Cost is very reasonable. They used to only take cash, but in the last year they upgraded to accepting cards. Note: no public bathroom (also pretty classically Chicago). For a real Chicago dog experience, just order a #2 with everything. read more

Wolfy's is more than just a dog joint, even though there's a huge hot dog sign advertising to anyone near the intersection of Peterson and California. They are one of my favorite local eat your feelings restaurants. A chocolate shake with 2 dogs and a large order of onion rings usually works better than Prozac. Their gyros, Grecian chicken pita, Italian beef and pepper jack burger are items regularly ordered by my family who has eaten Wolfy's at least 100 times in the past 6 years. read more

This place is amazing if you are on the far north side. I was in the area with my friend and we decided to stop in for some lunch. I had the cheeseburger and a hotdog while my friend had a chicken sandwich. We both agreed that the buns are absolutely fantastic. I had the hot dog made with grilled onions and it was a great Chicago dog. They have two tv's that I suppose are usually tuned to sports. Great food(as far as I've tried) and fast service. 4 stars for lack of drive thru(as far as I know) would love to order some food if I was in the area read more
