Wang's Garden in the Village Shires Shopping Center off Buck Road in Holland, PA, is a family run Chinese/American house that has been wokking and rolling menu standards for a generation at this location. Mama runs the front of the shop, while dad is master chef. Prices are on the lower end of reasonable, reflecting the rent paid over the years. My roast pork egg foo young was two smallish pancakes, full of pork and veggies and melded together with two eggs. The brown sauce seemed fresh, and the accompanying fried rice was also above average, with plenty of pork, peas, shoots and more egg. A pretty decent lunch platter. The weak link was the hot & sour soup, which lacked fresh mushrooms, had little tofu, and was dominated by its vinegar. It seemed past its prime. Service was friendly and accommodating. Ordered mid-week takeaway and it was quite " meh ". We ordered fried wings, Singapore noodles and pork fried rice. I'm sure business is off due to COVID lockdown, but the wings tasted like they were fried in old oil; the noodles were very dry with the curry powder not cooked all the way through. First time having Wang's Garden and it is the best Chinese food in town! Our family ordered the General Chang's chicken which was all white meat , veggie fried rice, lo mein loaded with roasted pork, sautéed string beans and kung pao chicken. Kung Pao chicken but where's the chicken? Wonton was fair but how can u screw that up. But the rice was bland, no taste and my kung Pao was 90% veggies. No taste. And no, I don't have covid. I've eaten here a few times before. Some of the other dishes were better to be fair. But this particular visit gets two stars. If u can't make it, take it off the menu. I have been living in this area forever and I never tried here until tonight for an unknown reason. The food was so fresh and the flavors were awesome. No goop with the sauces which is a major thing I rate Chinese food on. I ordered an egg roll, chicken and broccoli in garlic sauce, and pork fried rice. My family also got wonton soup, pepper steak and fried chicken wing. Everything was the bomb and this is our new Chinese spot. I bought take out on a Thursday night ~7PM. I ordered 1 egg roll, fried dumplings, and a shredded pork with garlic sauce at the recommendation of one of these reviews. My favorite part is the fact that their website is easy to navigate and the menu easy to read. However, my review is solely on the food itself. Egg roll: This was just okay. I've had tastier egg rolls. I wasn't a fan of the filling combination and had to pour duck sauce over it in order to enjoy it. The outside wrapper was crispy, and the second inner wrapper was soft. It has a very overwhelming cabbage taste and you don't get much of a shrimpy taste. 2/5 Fried Dumplings: These were awful. I felt like I was eating russian perogies with mince. The filling was decent, and you get a lot of filling in these dumplings. The dumplings themselves are larger than average in size. However, the pan fried sides of the dough were not crispy whatsoever. The entire thing was soft and doughy. The dough is very very thick, especially in the spots where they crimped the dough together. The dipping sauce was just okay, it was missing fresh scallions and some acidity. 1/5 Shredded pork in garlic sauce: This was awful as well. If you can envision the taste of average chinese food... this dish is certainly below average. It had no flavor whatsoever. I could barely take 5 bites out of it because it was that bad. You don't taste the "garlic sauce", I'm not certain there was any garlic in the dish at all. The vegetable combination lead to an overwhelming cabbage taste (carmelized/overcooked soft red peppers, green peppers, onions). The pork itself wasn't horrible. This dish tasted extremely mild and lacked flavor that I enjoy in chinese food. On top of that, the white rice that came with it was hard in certain spots and a bit dry. 1/5 Overall, I wanted to like the food here since there aren't many chinese restaurants nearby and I hate driving 20min to pickup takeout. This place does much more takeout than dine-in. If you do either option, however, you will be guaranteed the same quality of food. I usually dine in here, but I have also gotten takeout as well. I believe both experiences are four-star, and hence my review. Wang's is very authentic. Large portions and great prices. The food itself is top-notch Chinese; the wonton soup is especially delicious, as are the chicken lettuce wraps, the steamed dumplings, and the spicy shredded pork in garlic sauce. Though I will admit that I am a bit narrow-minded when it comes to sampling Chinese food (unless I am at a buffet) I believe that the dishes I have tried here represent the overall quality of the entire menu. The staff is warm and inviting; I remember them being very friendly to me when I used to bike over to the place after school when I was 13 and 14 years old. Even today, they still remember my name, my order, and never forget to hold a conversation with me about how things are going in school, etc. The only thing holding Wang's back from a perfect review is the atmosphere and plating. Indeed, this restaurant is very dreary and depressing. Dining in (or even picking up your food) can be a depressing experience. The plating also is very dreary and poorly executed. I've been going to this restaurant since I was a wee lass. :P Weird to think that I've been eating at Wangs for more than 20 years (literally my entire life) but it seems that's the case! It's the closest Chinese restaurant to my house, growing up. I have many memories of dining in here with my parents and grandparents. Though in recent years, we have mostly used this place for takeout. It's not the best or fanciest takeout in town. That being said, it is quick, tasty and reliable. Also, in pricy bucks county, this place has remained reasonable for the decades in which we have been patronizing it. I am a fan of the house lo mein, shrimp and broccoli and wonton soup. I would probably steer clear of anything outside the realm of standard Chinese takeout fare, but if you're in the mood for some Anglo Chinese food and you're in the neighborhood, you can't go wrong with wangs!! read more

We eat here at least a couple times a month. This is one of the rare Chinese restaurants that you can order something extra spicy and they really come through. Wang's Garden is a little hole in the wall over at the Village Shires Shopping Center. Nestled in a strip mall, and lacking pretension, this place serves up fast takeout. You could eat in. Very few people do. It's really for us Village Shire folks who want a fast, warm meal at home. Call it in and take it back to your place, pour a glass of wine and eat directly from the container while you watch television. Well, that's what I do. My favorite is the Hunan Chicken. They also have good veggie spring rolls. Their General Tso's chicken isn't typical and I find it disappointing. Otherwise, their other stuff is good. read more

We love Wang's Garden and have eaten there (and gotten their takeout) many times. We are vegetarian, and they always make us veg sauce to replace their usual dipping sauce (which has chicken stock in it). They also regularly make us General Tso's beancurd instead of chicken, and it is a favorite of ours. Their food is consistently good, the service consistently friendly. For a typical local Chinese restaurant this place delivers well. The appetizers such as dumplings, lettuce wraps, and egg rolls have all been tasty and well cooked although the dumplings tend to be a little doughy. Wonton soup is flavorful and delicious and my son particularly loves it. Pork fried rice is moist and has all the pork, peas, onion and egg you can enjoy. For main courses, the Sesame chicken is a hit with a crispy breading that wasn't too thick, broccoli was steamed to perfection, and the Shrimp Mai Fun was very tasty. As horrible as the customer service was from Wang's Garden the the food was even worse! We placed a take out order and did not receive the chicken dish we ordered. When we called to inform them of the mistake we were offered the option of coming to pick up the correct item or have a store credit. Since the food was for my 6 year old and my 2 year old sons we opted to get the food. My husband left the house without thinking to grab the wrong item. When he went to pick up the correct food they demanded the incorrect item. When he did not have it, and questioned why he should pay, the clerk threatened to keep the food. Again, the food was for children so my husband paid and left. If we chose the store credit they wouldn't have gotten the extra food anyway...were they planning or reselling it?? There are plenty of other places in the neighborhood so we will not be going back to Wang Garden's but as I said in the beginning the food was terrible, so not great loss read more
