Loved every part of my experience at Wood! Can't wait to come back and try even more food and drinks :). I came to Wood on the recommendation of a friend, who told me that the Head Chef here is very talented and has Michelin Star restaurant experience. I was not disappointed. Every dish I tried was absolutely delicious. The pasta is made fresh in-house, and was so so tasty. They have a varied cocktail menu as well, featuring classics as well as some unique ones. I had a Moscow mule and it was solid. The portion sizes weren't huge, but on the upside, that means you might be able to try some more dishes without filling up! The prices were mid-range (high $20s and $30s), but fair in my opinion, considering the quality of food here. The service is excellent. Our server was warm, attentive, and very quick. This is an excellent place to bring company, old friends or new, where you can be certain to have a terrific meal. This was our second time eating here. I only came back to try the Wood KFC fried chicken than my friend had on our first visit. I hate to give this place two stars since the food is so good! But the waiter we had this time around did not know the menu at all. We ordered a Pina Colada which was on the menu, he acted like we were making it up. Someone else came to help him and offered an alternative "better drink" - her words- Again, apetizers and entrees were so good, and I really loved the Wood KFC fried chicken. The server/waiter brought us two IPA's and asked if it was ours. We were so confused because we already had our drinks o our table. If you have dietary restrictions, beware! This restaurant changes menu quite frequently and they don't update their website to match their current menu, which you'd think would be a simple thing to do in 2024. Being a vegetarian, I looked at their web menu and convinced myself that there are two vegetarian entree options for me, made a reservation and went there with my out of town friends, one of whom is also a vegetarian. Once there, we found that none of the 16 entrees (yes none out of SIXTEEN) is vegetarian and the server was like the only veg option is creste di gallo al farmaggio and we will just keep ham out :( Also, they provide menu only with QR code - my friend's phone battery died and we asked the server if he can provide paper menu for him and they didn't have one. What puzzles me here is QR code sends you to the latest menu hosted online, so i have no idea why they couldn't publish it in their public facing website so people with dietary restrictions can decide for themselves ahead if they want to go there? read more

Did not have any plans to come here at all, but took a chance after randomly passing by on a walk, and really glad we did! They have a cute little patio on the side free from the main street foot traffic. Tables are a bit wobbly, but seats are comfortable and we weren't all crammed into the space. Ordered off the happy hour menu (Wednesday nights!) and essentially got a free drink! HH menu had three different burgers, a flatbread, and a pasta. Stopped in after going to a play in the area and what a great find! The weather was nice enough to sit outside and enjoy the sights of BoysTown. We had the cheese board, which was absolutely delicious. Such a different mix of cheeses and a nice raspberry compote. We both had the chicken breast, which was to die for. A high 4.5 stars to this place. A good contemporary american food spot with friendly and welcoming vibe. The host was great and so was the waiting staff. We were seated right upon arrival (we had a reservation), given blankets since it was super cold (the only slightly not so great part of the experience), and food arrived in a reasonable time. We ordered the following: Drinks- Seersucker Small Plates- Smoked Beet salad, Taigleetaile mussels (the small plates menu change periodically I believe since it's different on their website) Large Plates- Duck Leg Confit, Double Cheese burger and frites Dessert- Cardamom Beignets The seersucker is a unique combination of tequila and mezcal, with a good balance of sweet and sour taste to it. The beet salad was delicious. It was a not too "beety", the dressing was delicious, crouton well seasoned. One of the best things on the menu, it's a must try. The Tagliatelle mussels, were good but a mix of hit and miss. The pasta and sauce were delicious! The mussels were not that well seasoned. However, overall a good dish. The Duck leg was surprisingly good! Very well cooked, and it came on a bed of mix of orzo, mushrooms and kumquat (somewhat like risotto) which was delicious. What gave it an amazing taste was the presence of kumquat, a citrusy fruit like vegetable. The cheeseburger which came with the fries was good. It was a bit on the saltier side. I believe it was the sauce/cheese and not the patty that made a bit saltier than expected. The fries were crispy and fresh. The cardamom beignets were unique and delightful! It came with honey ice cream, pickled pears, and granola bed. It was a perfect balance of cold and warm sweetness! Overall, great experience. My boyfriend and I had dinner at Wood for Valentine's Day, and I need to come back to eat the rest of the menu. We chose to have several appetizer to share instead of entrees, and I recommend that route. The Escargot Vol Au Vent alone was worth the outing. If you are reluctant to try escargot, it was very reminiscent of a mushroom flavor. The Steak Tartare was very good, and I wish it had a poached egg in top. The pork belly was crazy good. Let me start with: I love this place. Also: This place has a heated outdoor patio. It's great. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. They made sure we were all toasty outside with their heating elements. Ours went out and they did the whole rigamarole to find a new propane tank and get it going again. And the food is fantastic. We've been here a handful of times over the years and I always enjoy my meal. But this last trip got enough weird to really knock a couple stars off what I think the place could be. We were a party of 2. And ordered a single dish: a steak made for 2 people. Med rare. It came with 2 sides. Roasted Brussels and mashed potatoes. This single steak dish took over an hour. About 40 minutes into the wait, we thought it seemed to be taking awhile. So we asked about it. Our host mentioned they looked like they were wrapping it up. Should be out soon. But then it took another 20 minutes. Something got screwed up. Manager came out after the food was delivered and apologized for the delay. "Kitchen was backed up". Great. We hadn't even complained at all. But the wait was clearly extraordinary for him to think he needed to come out and chat. We saw other people getting food. Felt like this wasn't just a backup. Regardless of what it was felt like maybe knock our single $9 drink off the bill? Or offer a little something 40 minutes into wait like some bread? Just not a great meal tonight. Had to scarf the meal down and get out of there. Was still delicious. But pretty disappointing experience this time. Will be back though. This place is NOT kid friendly. I took my daughter and her grandparents for what I thought would be a nice dinner out in the neighborhood. While the appetizers and entrees were great, they took over an hour to bring my daughter's dinner out. And we requested lightly buttered noodles! When it finally came out, the noodles were sitting in a pool of butter. I requested that they redo it with LIGHT butter and, again, it came out soaked in butter. This is a good choice for drinks and small plates in Boy's Town. There's a nice bar, cozy booths, some high tops, and outdoor seating. We started with a charcuterie assortment. Charcuterie represents about a third of the menu, and the mixed plate offers a good way to sample quite a bit of it. The cheeses on our plate were all somewhat similar, semi-firm. The pate was close to a liverwurst. The best item was the salmon pastrami, which was like a seasoned smoked salmon. The tomato tart was just so-so, but the heirloom tomatoes that came with it were very good. Baby grilled octopus was also just okay, but the chorizo and corn mixture that came with it was excellent. The best item we had was the chocolate trilfle, an excellent mix of hot and cold, crunchy and chewy, sweet and bitter. It went great with the Rare Wine Company Verdelho Madeira. They offer the full range of Rare Wine Company Madeiras if you want something sweeter. Just after an unfunny improv outing the other weekend, we were looking for a nearby spot to grab food and drink. The reviews and photos were the draw and thankfully, the restaurant was a few blocks from the theatre company. Since it was almost 10p we scooped a table easily. A sampling of our plates: Roasted Delicata squash** Duck liver mousse Frites Pork shoulder Dbl cheeseburger & frites** (I never understand why upscale spots call their fries, frites. Bro, they are fucking fries. I don't see garnish on this, I don't detect a special oil used. They weren't adorned with freshly chopped garlic, herbs or parmesan. If it's hand cut, say that they are.. that's awesome on its own. Frites are a whole other category. Wood's french fries are good though, we ordered two plates.) We were a group of six, sharing plates and imbibing cocktails. A part two to my recent birthday outing. The squash was phenomenal, chopped into slices and served with chestnut puree, watercress & apple cider vinaigrette. Forks were stabbing the plate until it was all gone. This review is overdue since I've been here twice already the first time was for brunch when a friend of mine was visiting over the holidays. Brunch had a good selection of food and cocktails as well. A friend of mine was here for dinner last night he just recently moved here from ATL we decided to check this place out for dinner. My friend ordered the Steak Tartar for appetizers and it was delicious, if you're not a fan of slightly raw steak then i wouldn't recommend it but it was delicious. I had the double cheeseburger with frites and it was actually delicious the double patty really fills you up so come hungry. The fries and the bun were crispy and the burger was good although it was a little bit of a medium rare on my end I should've asked for medium well but it was fine, still enjoyed my meal. I also got the Moscow mule for drinks. Overall I like this place, the interior and decor is actually nice it's a good place for a date night with your partner or for any special occasion. They also have an outdoor patio which is good if you're not comfortable seating indoors just yet. During this time they provide hand sanitizers and the staff are all wearing masks. Let me start by saying the food was tasty. But that's where the positives end for this restaurant. This was my first time dining here and it will also be my last. The service was the worst part. Our server wasn't friendly at all; borderline rude in fact. He rarely checked back in with us after taking our initial drink order. Food preparation by the kitchen was painfully slow. They had the nerve to charge $25 for the smallest bowl of spaghetti; smaller than a cereal bowl. So small in fact that I laughed when the runner placed it on the table. The atmosphere was crazy loud inside and we were freezing the whole meal since they had the A/C on full blast as rain was pouring down outside. All in all, not a good first impression and disappointing meal out with my other half. For the prices this place charges it needs to do better! read more

They will say they are accessible to wheelchairs but they are not for indoors. Found the staff to be rude as I called prior and was twice told they would accommodate my reservation. Called 15 minutes before my arrival to give fair warning and was told they would accommodate me upon my arrival. Waited outside for ten minutes with no acknowledgment and when hostess did come she acted as if I was putting HER out even though I had a reservation at 7:15 that clearly stated a need for wheelchair seating. I finally cancelled my reservation as they could not accommodate the step into the restaurant as they did not have a ramp. Before I could leave the Chef/maybe owner came out to apologize which was very nice but his staff had already sent me down a path of no return. I am not a wheelchair advocate per se but I make an effort to plan to ensure I can be accommodated so was very disappointed by my experience and the response from the staff. It doesn't take much to say I am so sorry we made a mistake with our indoor seating accommodation but could we possibly make it work at a table outside? Rather than let me see what tables we might have available as we have had multiple parties arrive in the last 15 minutes. At some point in time I have been inside the restaurant pre-pandemic so not sure what happened to the wheelchair accessible path inside. read more

We had an amazing dinner here last night! Cocktails were superb... I recommend the Northern Border. There were four of us, and we ordered a variety of small plates. Our favorites were the endive salad, the beets with smoked pastrami, the braised pork belly, and the cheese plate. Honesty, it's hard to pick a favorite. Everything was so good! For dessert we had the bread pudding and a selection of Madeira. Our server gave us some options and explained their dessert wines wonderfully. I went with a friend here last minute and got in easily on a Thursday night, which was empty on the inside but had the entire patio full. The decor was very cute, I loved the orange booths but they almost reminded me of bottle service club seating. Very large bar in the center as well with a broad spirit selection. The food was excellent overall. The Catalpa Grove Pork Belly was absolutely amazing but I wish we got a larger portion of the meat, it seemed to have a bread below it to fill the plate. The steak tartare was very yummy and I loved that they used potato chips it added such a great saltiness. The Rigatoni Ragu was my favorite, the beef shank was cooked perfectly and very flavorful. Creste Di Gallo Con Formaggio was also very tasty. Both pastas were a good portion, my friend and I were starving that night clearly and were happy to try so many great plates. My only downside is there did not have any paper menus, only QR codes to scan. When we asked for menus they said there's none printed and it would take awhile to get them. And, best of all, delicious food. I stated with a Poinsettia (cranberry juice and brut) for $5, and my BF snagged a Spicy Maria (Bloody Mary mix and tequila) for $7! Dirt cheap way to begin! We decided to split a cinnamon roll, which was the best decision of the morning. Warm, fluffy, cinnamon-packed dough with the perfect amount of not-too-sweet icing. TO DIE FOR. I ordered the Benedict, which had pulled chicken, pimento cheese, and perfectly cooked poached eggs. The BF ordered the Chorizo Pupusa, which was a tortilla/masa stuffed with Chorizo, lime crema and hot sauce. This was a great take on Latin flavors!! Pro-Tip: The menus posted online aren't accurate to what they are actually serving, but you're guaranteed to find something you love anyway so don't let that deter you! I called, talked to GM Jeremiah and explained it. His attitude was appalling and completely disrespectful and when I called him on it, he tells me I no longer can make a reservation with them. This used to be one of my favorites places and we were going there before we move out of state. I will definitely never recommend this place ever again. Will let all my friends in the culinary world about them.His attitude was definitely uncalled for, especially in this times.
