I called a week before to see if we could make a reservation for the patio area, and upon arrival the table was setup and ready to go. This spot was perfect for our team as it had plenty of parking (we went during a week day before the club studio or orange theory rush). Our group had no issues opening up a tab and ordering food at the register upon arrival. The menu variety was great, even with our group that had various dietary restrictions (nut allergy, gluten free, seafood allergy, vegetarian, etc.). Such a great experience with tasty food and drinks. Their menu offers everything from appetizers, soups, tacos, grilled fish plates, bowls, fried plates, sandwiches, grilled salads, breakfast items, coffee, tea, cold beverages to adult beverages (beer, wine, cocktails). We tried OC Fish Grill for the first time after spotting it on Yelp and were pleasantly surprised. It was early on a Friday evening and there were only a handful of other guests, so ordering at the counter and grabbing a table was quick and easy, with the staff bringing everything out to us.[yelp +1] My wife and I started with the Salmon Poke appetizer and then shared a two-item combo. The Salmon Poke was excellent, with generous chunks of salmon served with crisp chips. For the combo, we chose the fried fish and fried calamari with French fries and coleslaw on the side; the fried items were very well done, though the coleslaw wasn't really to my taste. Even though we arrived on the early side, it looked like they were setting up for live jazz later in the evening, and as we were heading out more people were arriving for the music. Since then, Eve & I have been there for dinner and fantastic Jazz every Friday night from 7:00 to 9:30. Generally the musicians are a quintet consisting of keyboard, bass,(upright or guitar or both), drums, sax and trumpet. Often there are guest artists sitting in with other instruments and vocalists. They have been playing this gig for more than six years. The leader of the group is Karim Yengsep, DMA, of the SoCalJazz Collective and Academy in Lake Forest, teaching Jazz techniques and instruments to all ages and abilities. The food is very good, with generous portions and is inexpensive. The most expensive item on the menu is $27.00. We have ordered the Fish & Chips for me and various Tapas/Tacos for Eve. The 3 Fish portions with my order were the largest I have ever seen. The three ladies at the table next to us ordered a single Fish & Chips, dividing the meal portions equally amongst themselves. Last week we decided to have the Grilled Salmon Salad w/ Mixed Greens, tomatoes, daikon sprouts, gorgonzola cheese, walnuts, cranberries, and red onions, with our usual glass of wine. We have occasionally ordered the $4.00 side salad. It is large delicious and can easily be shared. For non fish diners, there is a variety of chicken dinners. My personal favorite is the $19.00 Grilled Chicken Salad with the same salad Ingredients as the Grilled Salmon dinner. We haven't tried the Citrus Salad with Grilled Chicken yet, but it looks interesting. The dessert menu is varied and has a middle eastern flavor as well as chocolate items. We came here with a group of 10 people and had no trouble finding a place to sit for lunch. Ordering is pretty straightforward, and there's a display with desserts. I appreciate how they have a decent kids' menu - my boys loved it! I tried the fried calamari, ahi poke bowl, rice pudding, and another dessert that had pistachio (I don't see it on the menu, but it was in the display case). The calamari was really good - I like the breading on it. Nice and crispy and thin. The poke was also pretty good. I should have asked for the dressing on the side, but oh well! The fish was really good, and I had it with quinoa. All of the toppings were great as well. Nice balance all around. But the sleeper hit was the rice pudding. So unassuming at first, but after that first bite - yum! Several people at our table said it was probably the best thing we tried during lunch. So smooth and such a great flavor. Flies, Flies, and more Flies last Saturday Evening. Enter the restaurant at approximately 6 pm on one of the hottest days of the year and both doors were wide open and it was hot inside the restaurant. No A/C on! Asked the waitress why no A/C on such a hot day and she said manager decided not to turn it on. I can't believe they were making employees--especially ones in the kitchen work under these conditions!? It was over 80 degrees in there--probably about 85 really. I was already perspired from the day hauling stuff so I was okay with it. Ordered my Salmon and sat down inside. As soon as the Salmon plate was placed on the table, not one, not two, not three but a team of flies converged on my food. Both big and small flies. I swatted them away and they came back with a vengeance, some flying together in teams. Those little flies stood their ground on the table around my Salmon and refused to move. Now I am wondering how many flies are in the kitchen? Maybe stirred up in the food? That's not a spice I want! I could not get a bite without flies attacking so I picked up my stuff and sat outside on the patio. One fly came by occasionally but not as bad as the infestation inside. I am wondering if this restaurant has an owner on the premises regularly and the competency of the manager? Does the owner know what is going on? Something was very wrong here. The restaurant is behaving like like they will be turning the lights out soon and can't afford A/C? Really cutting costs to stay in business? But I hope not because I really like the Salmon here, but I am not going to be able to return for a while because I am concerned about all the flies. One fly OK, but not the amount of flies they had in that place. Those leaves outside on the patio generate flies and bugs, so it's important to keep the restaurant doors closed at all times and A/C on when hot. They do have a fly zapper inside, but it was not doing the job or overwhelmed? Sorry to report this debacle. read more

If you're trying to eat healthy, OC Fish Grill is a decent choice. It's counter service, with indoor and outdoor seating on their large patio. OC Fish Grill has a Taco Tuesday, where three tacos are $12. Tacos are normally $5-$7 each, so this is a deal! The tacos all have to be the same and you can choose from chicken, whitefish, shrimp and salmon. I would recommend the salmon over the shrimp, as the salmon tacos are quite large compared to the shrimp - a much better bang for your buck! They also offer the same three taco price during Happy Hour. I've also ordered the grilled tilapia, which comes with two sides. Excellent fresh fish served here. Mother had the Grilled Branzino with Eggplant and roasted Brussels sprouts, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Wife had the Salmon bowl with quinoa, brown rice and zucchini. I had the chicken taco plate with rice and humongous spears of grilled asparagus. The service was fast and the patio ambience included grapevines loaded with ripe hanging grapes. The usual Greek portion sizes and freshness were abundant here. I got the grilled salmon plate and was pleasantly surprised by how much fish came with it. Typically, when I go out to eat--especially for salmon dishes--they give you only a tiny piece. But this place gave two decently sized pieces, which was very filling, especially for the price I paid. The taste wasn't too strong, which I liked. It was just lightly seasoned, so it was pretty good as is. The veggies that came with it were grilled--I chose the Brussels sprouts. Overall, everything was pretty good, and this is exactly the type of dinner I usually go for. I was surprised the place was so empty, considering how good the food is. Hubs originally wanted to try another seafood place but changed his mind. I saw this place as we were driving by and we decided to stop by here for dinner, instead. The restaurant is medium in size and surprisingly very elegant. The tables, which ranged in size, were all covered with white tablecloths and white paper. A long booth can be seen near the back and a tall table also sits next to a back window. Near the front is a wall covered in a mural of a fish and posters of food items are taped to the ordering counter too. This was a fast casual place where you order at the register and they bring your food to you. We ordered the following: Ahi poke starter with chips and salsa - daughter loved this a lot. She said that this was amazing and delicious. Hubs said that this is a nacho that he could totally support. LOL. Grilled shrimp taco combo with sweet potatoes and grilled eggplant. Hubs said that the sweet potato fries were nice and crunchy and the shrimp tacos were ok. He thought there wasn't any taste in the grilled eggplant. Combo fried plate with Brussels sprouts, grilled zucchini, batter fish and calamari. Hubs said that this order was better than he expected. I had ordered extra Cajun sauce which I never got and it was very hard to try and get the attention of a worker. Even the fries were completely bland, not even a touch of salt. It was honestly a little crazy. I asked for two sauces to try to enjoy the fish, but even the sauces were completely watery. Incredible fresh food and very friendly staff. My daughter and I got a salmon plate with zucchini and brussel sprouts and the flavors blew the 3 year old out of her world. Me too. She hasn't eaten this good in a while. The latte and matcha were great too. I ordered a matcha and I didn't say hot or iced and assumed it would be hot, and when it was brought over iced, the employee was super kind and offered to make it hot, no issues. We had a craving for seafood and ordered takeout from here one evening after work as I didn't feel like cooking anything. My husband had the fish and chips, which he enjoyed. The portions were decent, and the fish quality was pretty good. He really liked the fish compared to the last two places he had previously. This little local spot serves up some delicious quick-service seafood! After frequently visiting the Korean BBQ spot next door, we gave OC Fish Grill a whirl tonight and it was well worth the drop in. This spot is very chic and nice inside. When the weather gets warmer, I would love to come back and experience their patio. It's very cozy and they have fire outside--would be great for a date night. I believe they also have live music some nights! We started with the coconut shrimp and ahi poke. My partner is the bigger ahi fan--and they said it was really good. I thought overall the coconut shrimp was really good. It may have been just a tad overcooked, but still super good. The sweet sauce they served with it was really good. For my entree, I got the grilled mahi mahi with grilled zucchini and sweet potato fries. Wow, the fish was so tender and delicious. Also, I would give 5 stars alone for the Cajun dipping sauce--it was creamy, flavorful, and so bomb. Next time I'm ordering an extra side of it. The service was great--all the workers were nice and the food came out relatively quickly. It is a tad bit more $$$ for a quick service, but the quality is well worth it. I like how they have a variety of sides to choose from. Everything was really fresh and tasty. Definitely could tell they changed things up since my last experience. I enjoyed my meal so much that we ended up dking take out not long after for their Taco Tuesday night (3 batteries fish tacos for $12! - husband got battered shrimp tacos). I was looking for a replacement to the closed Fish District that was at the Woodbury Towncenter. I really missed the grilled salmon tacos they offered. I search all the Baja Taco places around OC and then I remembered this place. They have an even better grilled salmon taco! It's my new weekly lunch stop.
