great small business for cakes at a decent price. the strawberry shortcake is light, not too sweet, and can be customized. i called ahead to order 2 days ahead and picked up the cake - it was a seamless experience. service was very friendly! my only point of feedback would be to consider implementing an online order form to make ordering even easier. would definitely recommend!

I was looking for a quick breakfast to pair with my coffee that I picked up next door and stumbled upon Woodside Bakery & Cafe. This cute little shop offers a variety of baked goods, foods, and drinks. There are plenty of seats indoors and outdoors for customers to relax and enjoy their goodies. The man behind the counter was very nice and offered assistance if I needed anything. After looking around at the options, I decided to get the gluten free blueberry muffin. It was really good and moist, the perfect little breakfast I needed in that moment. I'll definitely be back when I'm around the area again and support this little small business.

I stopped into Woodside Bakery for a mid morning snack. I don't usually go out to Sharon Heights, but I was already in the area. They recently won Readers' Choice Best Bakery in our local paper so why not check it out. The bakery is, like the rest of the shopping center, a bit dated, not quite charming. There were many patrons and I was glad to use the time in line with my party to decide what I wanted to get. All the standard bakery fare was on display--pastries, danish, muffins, cookies, cakes, quiche etc. I had decided on the sticky bun but made a last minute switch to the raspberry cinnamon roll I hadn't been able to see previously. Having never been here before, I didn't know what the heating situation was. I decided to just go with the flow of the other patrons. Nothing was being heated and it wasn't offered during ordering. The cinnamon roll was tasty--soft, sweet, with raspberry sauce drizzled through the swirl-- but would have been improved heated. I would visit again if I was in the area and needed a pick me up, but don't see myself making a special trip otherwise.

Cute bakery with Great assortment of pastries! I really enjoyed the carrot cake. it was sweet but cream was amazing. Pumpkin loaf was a little dry but nice service. Not the most modern café but definitely has a charm and people drinking coffee outside.

Regret buying this from the Sigonas market in Stanford shopping mall. As you can see, it's undercooked and it's very dense like a pound cake. I taste more of the cinnamon than bananas and it's a little on the sweet side. The banana bread from the La Boulangerie at the mall is so much better cuz my dad got it too lol.

I can see why this bakery is so popular with the locals. Their pastries are fresh and taste so good. The hazelnut pastry doesn't have Nutella slabbed on like others but so beautifully crafted. They have several gluten free items in a separate glass container. The brownie was very good. Items seem to sell out quickly.

The freshly baked bread is a nice take home for lunch. The staff here are very friendly and helpful. I know their jobs are very busy and they work hard. It doesn't go unnoticed. HEALTH CODE VIOLATIONS!!!…read more I am writing this review to both warn other customers and so that management sees this. I was at the MP location earlier this week and saw not one but TWO health code violations committed by employees. First, one of the ladies was drinking out of an open cup at the front where the food and beverages are prepared. This is against the health code! 113977. (a) Except as specified in subdivision (b), an employee shall eat or drink only in designated areas where contamination of nonprepackaged food; clean equipment, utensils, and linens; unwrapped single-use articles; or other items needing protection cannot result. (b) A food employee may drink from a closed beverage container if the container is handled to prevent contamination of the employee's hands, the container, nonprepackaged food, and food-contact surfaces. The employee (brown hair in a ponytail, wearing grey Adidas) was frequently drinking a pink drink from a clear open cup behind the counter where the pastries are! Also, I saw the male employee behind the counter sneeze and use his bare hand to cover his sneeze. He rubbed his nose and sniffed. I was watching him from my table to make sure that he washed his hands. He went over to the sink behind the cash register and I kid you not, he turned on the water and for literally ONE SECOND put his hands under it. He then wiped his hands together to dry them. HE DID NOT USE SOAP TO WASH HIS HANDS AFTER SNEEZING INTO THEM!!!! Article 4. Handwashing 113953.3. (a) (2) After touching bare human body parts other than clean hands and clean, exposed portions of arms. (5) After coughing, sneezing, using a handkerchief or disposable tissue, using tobacco, eating, or drinking. He then went back to work grabbing customers' pastries. I'd really love for management to please have a word with staff/review training and protocols - please don't respond to this review with the canned "Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We have addressed this with our staff and we will take your comments into consideration." Please actually DO SOMETHING and ensure that all of your staff follow proper health code laws! Thank you!! :D

Perhaps a bit on the fancier side, but it's a pleasant place to go for some coffee and a dessert. All of the desserts are beautiful and imaginative spins on classics with a middle eastern twist. Baklava Cheesecake: Such a pretty little packet. This is a bit contradictory, but the cream cheese filling is a little too sweet and dense and the outside should be a little more sweet, perhaps with syrup like on a traditional baklava. I missed that stickiness and moisture on the flaky exterior. But overall, it was fun to eat. Sweet Cheese Rolls: These were pretty good and quite creamy inside. Halawet el jibn is traditionally served with pistachio and rose syrup. These are hard to come by in the Bay and kind of expensive here, but tasty.

My family and I stopped by Marvel Cake during Mother's Day for a sweet treat on Sunday. This location is in the strip of Downtown Palo Alto and has limited parking (similar to the rest of the stores there, there is a lot of parking, and you will need to get lucky). My mom does like the Marvel Cake in their first location, so we swung by here to try this one out! Location-wise, this is a smaller shop than the original one in West San Jose with limited seating inside. I would say it's not work from home friendly however, I did see a college student next to me on her laptop so maybe I am incorrect here! The interior is nice and light, matching the elegance of the desserts. We ordered three items on the menu: the pillow cake, the bisou, and the blueberry lavender roll. Here are some thoughts: * Pillowcase cake: It may seem like this would be a fluffy cake due to the nature of its shape, but it is a gelatinous Jell-O cake with fruit jam. It was not bad, and tasted refreshing and light. I didn't know if I liked it at first, but ultimately I did come back for seconds and thirds, so this is approved. * Blueberry lavender roll cake: This was not at all what we were expecting. I did not taste any lavender, nor did it have a strong blueberry flavor. I think what threw our party off was the layer of gelatin that surrounded the cake. Texturally, we were not a big fan. * Bisou: This one was our favorite one. I appreciated the nutty crust in the bottom layer of the cake, while the filling was soft and bouncy. It is very sweet, however, but overall, I really enjoyed this one and feel like it would go great with a cup of coffee. What made the experience here a 3 instead of a 4 or 5 was the service we got. We weren't greeted when we came in, which, to be fair, is totally fine, maybe they were busy. However, the person helping us stared at us the whole time and did not really communicate well with us. When I tried to order the cakes for my family, they looked bothered that we were there, and I was not sure if they understood what pastries I was ordering because they did not repeat it back to us at all or confirm anything. When I did place the order, they slowly grabbed the plates and looked visually confused, which again, if they wanted to, I could have repeated it back to them. After they gathered everything, they put it in front of us and rang me up. The whole time, they did not say a word to me at all. Did not reconfirm anything, did not acknowledge we were there, did not say thank you. It was a bit strange, and I had to check with my family if it was me or if that was a really weird experience (it wasn't me).

Every single time we have gone (which is usually when they open), there is already a line forming outside the door.
