Place have small parking lot, Service is slow and can't have a big gathering more than 6 people because that is the max seating one is allow for each table. All the table are nailed down and you can't rearrange them. We had nine in our party and three had to sit away from us. Food was ok and for the price I feel it is kinda pricey for the amount for the type of food we get but I guess rent is probably high there because it is close to the beach. They do serve alcohol with their meal from day to night and you can order from lunch section in AM which is a plus since I don't like typical breakfast food For anyone who planning on eating there, count on spending around 20$ or more for the meal including tips read more

Very, very poor service! We ordered 4 burgers and asked for one to be cut in half and they said they wouldn't because cutting the burger isn't part of their "special". In case they didn't know, it's part of customer service. But, we said ok and cut it ourselves ....but only after we had to get up and ask for utensils! Our waitress brought our food and NEVER checked on us until she brought the check. We had to walk up to the counter ask for mustard, ranch, and ketchup ourselves because she never asked us nor checked on us! The ketchup they gave us only had enough for like 10 fries, so we had to get up AGAIN and ask for another bottle! The food itself was just ok. The bun was soggy and my onion rings were burnt! Definitely NEVER going back to Woody's, special or no special, I'd rather eat a PB&J on Weber Bread, just sayin'! read more

Been coming here a long time. It was pretty much empty service was fast we had a group of 4 with 3 young kids. When we began eating I found 1 string of hair not the end of the world it happens. But my brother in law showed us a clump of hair that was mixed in with the union rings . Maybe from the fryer itself. A clump like someone emptied there brush in our food. They refunded my brother in law and his wife . None of us finished our food. Super disappointed I've been taking my boys here for years. read more

They say they were open till 8 pm and I came in on a Sunday around 7:15 and the door was opened with all the lights on. I said excuse me and hello a couple times because I heard people in the back but no one came so I figured maybe they couldn't hear. Two people walked past the doorway and I called out to both of them saying excuse me and they completely ignored me. What a great place for meal. Great food large portions and great service. What else do you want in a diner. We went for a late nite burger and was done perfectly and the avocado was a suprising great touch. We the retuned for breakfast the next day I had the woody omelet with their special hashbrowns. They are priced similar to Ruby's or Islands however theirs is no where near as good. The rest of my party ordered something else but noted how poor the food was. This restaurant is a true hidden gem in regards to SoCal dining. Small and quaint in size, but always a relaxing, warm reception in terms of sunny near-beach locale, the food always tastes fresh and appealing (at least whenever I go) and the customer service is always convivial- never an issue here. On average, you'll pay between $12.95 through upwards of $16/17 per meal with beverage (depending on what you order), but the variety and quality of dishes for all-day meals beats next-door's Harbor House Cafe prices any day (Harbor House does have a better breakfast menu with larger portions, in my observation and opinion). Location is nice and Woody's is a bit better than Denny's and other chain breakfast places. The hashbrowns could have been cooked longer, but I do really like their beer battered fries. Service isn't the best, but the food does come out quickly. Prices are around $10 per dish and the portions fair. Simple, old school vibe and a large menu that offers burgers, sandwiches and salads as well as the average breakfast fare. Ever see the movie Ghost World? The "fake" 50's dinner scene? Woody's is NOT one of these places. This place is the real deal! A real old-skool dinner with all the bells and whistles of the classic American diner including mini jukeboxes at your table. My fiancee and I stopped for dinner here on Valentine's Day after hanging out in Huntington Beach. Tried their mushroom / Swiss burger with onion rings while my fiancee got the sirloin burger. My burger was perfectly cooked and the onion rings were crispy, not soggy at all. The fiancee's meal was also very good. everything is done fresh here and the service (service meaning the one woman holding down the cafe by herself) was great. I've been to Harbor House (which is directly next door) once before and I have to admit that the food here is much, much better. I think we'll be back for breakfast one day. Tuesday afternoon. We're the only ones inside. One girl at the counter. We seat ourselves. Yeah, it's a diner and yeah I know to expect much of anything is foolish, but hear me out on this 2-star review. We came here for food, not ice cream or anything ice cream based. It seems that the party piece here is the Malt, but unfortunately, we ordered actual food so I guess we missed the bus on that one. Patty melt looked terrible but he said it tasted fine. The bread looked quite dry and there seemed to be more bread than anything else. I ordered the Mexican omelet and it was fine with the exception of the plastic congealed cheese over the top. Salsa was meh. Stewed tomatoes were odd. Service was apathetic but to be fair, I think the girl was more bored with the day than with her job. Food came out quickly but most likely due to the fact that we were the only people in the dining room. Prices are fair. Portions are mediocre at best. Service is what it is. I'd be open to coming back to try a malt but other than that, I'll pass. read more

This place does not even deserve a freaking star. We waited about 20mins for our food to come out. My French Toast was cold and barely any powder sugar on it. I could not even eat it. I was upset because the people behind us got their food first and they arrived later than we did. Our waitress did not even check up on us. We are staying at a hotel down the road from this place and just had dinner here. The food is American (something we rarely eat out since we can make it at home) but it's Saturday night and we didn't feel like competing with crowds at the $30 a plate fish houses, especially as this is often a risk since many don't do fish well. The parking lot at Woody's was ominously empty, bu we figure the threat of a tsunami may have hurt weekend tourism. The atmosphere was kitschy and quite appealing to our kids. There aren't a lot of big tables in the place and I was a bit nervous about sitting with our kids next to what appeared to be a large table of 19 year old boys. Those situations are rarely devoid of f-ing this and f-ing that conversations, but I digress. It was fine. The fact that kids eat free night was on a Saturday was something that pleased us beyond belief. Kids meals are 6 bucks every other night (my kids would have shared!). Kids meals are served in a paper 57 Chevy. This was definitely distracting as macaroni was being wheeled across the table. Okay so onto what the grown ups ate. I had the half soup and sandwich: roast beef on rye with split pea. The roast Beef was the truth; it wasn't gray deli meat. The split pea was green hammy goodness. My husband had the meatloaf tower, as he rarely resists meatloaf if it's on a menu. It was good! The mushroom gravy and fried onion strings on the top improved what would have otherwise only been a merely adequate Salisbury steak. The steamed vegetable were somewhat uninspired as is usually the case. The staff was friendly and kept our glasses full. We tipped a little extra to compensate for the free kids meals, but the bill was only 23 bucks. Woody's isn't getting four stars for earth-shattering culinary break throughs, it's getting them for delivering exactly what we needed with happy little surprises delivered in paper 57 Chevys. read more

Stopped in for brunch and 4 dollar Bloody Mary's! We enjoyed our Bloodys- not too spicy, but there was a kick. We also split an omelet with home fries. Their home fries were good because they weren't fried. Fresh avocado slices and fresh veggies on top made this meal truly enjoyable. I usually frequent the Laguna Hills location but since I've been spending the last few weeks in Long Beach I decided to stop by for breakfast. I'm a bit disappointed that the price for the breakfast combo has gone up but it still hits the spot. The vibe here is much different and more personal given that it's a local hangout and you're more inclined to chat it up with the server. If you prefer to not chat, there is a TV so you can catch up with the latest car chases, shootings, and celebrity trash. Whoa yum!!! So glad we stopped in! The teriyaki burger and chicken sandwich were outstanding! First I love there is such a big selection of chicken sandwiches and the burgers can be swapped for turkey too!! Been going here basically my whole life, it's a beach nostalgic living spot with time capsule decor for every age of surf culture. Not sure if the juke box still works but it's always fun to find out. Great breakfast that's not expensive at all and then you can just walk over to the beach and take it in. I really waffled between 4 and 5 stars. I usually hold the 5 star rating for fine dining, with that said we enjoyed a great breakfast at Woody's. Mr. B and I took our bikes down to Huntington and set off on the bike trail, we were feeling very energetic and rode all the way to Sunset Beach. Ready for breakfast we opted for Woody's, it turned out to be a great choice. They do have a bike rack to hold a few bikes, that way you don't have to deal with parking. The place was pretty busy on Saturday morning, so we grabbed a few barstools at the counter. The service was great! The breakfast menu is quite extensive. Mr. B enjoyed the breakfast special which was a hollandaise croissant and egg sandwich. Served open fast the eggs were set upon the croissant with creamy hollandaise blanketing the eggs. I grabbed a bite and it was delicious. I ordered the scrambled egg, toast and with smothered hash browns. Good thing I was riding, needed to work off the hash browns. They were fabulous. The egg beaters were scrambled perfectly, and the hash browns were cooked well covered in crumbled bacon, green onions, sauteed mushrooms, cheese and sour cream. It was by far the best service and breakfast we have had in awhile. The little diner is very cozy and takes you back to a typical 50's diner.They have mini jukeboxes at the counter and tables, you can pick your own tunes from a large selection of 50's music, Elvis, Patsy Cline and Buddy Holly. Stuffed and happy, we pay the bill and get back on the bikes to ride and work off breakfast, it was a great morning! Thanks Woody's, we will be back! read more
