Really cool spot, I love Cost Plus and always try to go in one if I see one. They have an eclectic assortment of items, but my favorite sections are the beer and wine aisles, and the interesting international foods/treats/candies/snacks. This place is like pier one, but they have food and booze here too. Cool ethnic selection of stuff. Very beautiful store. Walked in and was greeted by two people right away with smiles. Walked to the back to look for a pasta sauce my girl was craving. Though I wasn't able to find it I grabbed something that was similar. When I walked up front to check out I asked them about the other flavor from the same company they weren't sure so I showed them a pic and they went right on the computer to verify my question without hassle. I am truly disappointed with World Market. I have been a Cost Plus customer for over 40 years and never had any complaints until now. First of all, the female manager (I won't mention her name) that I talked to was not reasonable at all. I ordered some curtains that were advertised as a set. I ordered two sets. When I picked them up, they said they sold them as singles and not as a set in the store. So when I ordered 2 sets, it really meant two singles. Seriously? Two sets everywhere else means a total of four. Also, I needed eight panels but they only had four. When I checked online every store within 50 miles had only two panels. Needless to say, I had to travel to two other stores to buy the other four panels. World Market wouldn't deliver them. I know, I shouldn't have gone along with this poor service but I needed the curtains right away and I liked them. I talked to several customer service reps and they each agreed that I should've gotten four curtains instead of two. However, when they sent in a request for compensation, nothing was done. It even went to corporate. So far, no one has called me from corporate. I am seriously considering not buying anything in the future from WM. By the way, they haven't corrected the online order form to reflect the single panel vs a set. Be careful when you order online. read more

I was treated poorly while trying to return something I purchased. I had the receipt, which was a couple weeks older than the 90 day cash back policy. I stated that I would be happy to take whatever they could give me in store credit. I was told that I could not return it at all, as was past the 90 day policy. When I pointed out that I could get store credit without a receipt, and suggested I return the item without the receipt, I was told I was being dishonest and would be "lying" in front of my daughter and other customers. None of this made sense to me. According to the store policies, I should have been able to get store credit. I left, humiliated, without being able to return my items. To make matters worse, I realized after returning home that the woman never even gave me back my receipt! I used to love this store, but I have never been treated so rudely. With so many other options, I don't plan to return. read more

Painful customer service! Really disappointed in how I was treated by the manager. I was looking for several chairs and was told they were available for purchase at the store. When I arrived 30 min after the phone call I was told by another employee that the chairs where already on hold for someone else. I was shocked at the lack of customer service I received. The manager spoke rudely and shortly with me. I found the chairs at other world market locations where the service was much better. If you are looking to place an order through the store I would not do it at this location! read more

We were looking at a coffee table where each one was unique due to how the wood was cut. We were being helped by Taylor and asked her if they had any more of this particular table in stock and if it was possible to look at them to see which one we liked best. She said no problem and went into the back, brought out two large boxes, cut them open and showed us both tables. I felt she really went above and beyond as it was a lot of work for her. I ordered the Nomad dinnerware set on the Cost Plus website and only received half of my order in the shipment. Not knowing what to do, I went to my nearest store (in Oceanside), and explained the situation. I gave them my order printout and showed them pictures of what I had actually received. I'm not sure of his name, but one of the employees searched the whole store for what they had in stock (aisles and in the back) and was able to replace most of the missing portion of my shipment. I had to contact the corporate office for the remainder, but the people at the store were so helpful and courteous. I can't imagine a better resolution to my problem. read more

bought furniture here. brought it all the way home and hardware was missing. called store twice to see if i could swing by to pick up hardware. was on hold forever, then got disconnected. i called back, was on hold, then the hung up on me. while i generally like cost plus, the management here leaves something to be desired. read more
