Being a craft beer aficionado, and living in Sonoma County - arguably Craft Beer Mecca - no respectable beer server put a head on a beer unless it's requested (some people claim to have a preference for a head on their beer, for various reasons), but North Coast has a policy of doing just that. At least that's what the bartender told me. An imperial pint glass holds 20 oz. A 3/4" head on that beer brings your 20 oz beer down to about 17-18 oz. Not horrible, but not what I paid for. To their credit, when I took my beer back to the bar (it had been dropped at our table by our server) and asked that it be filled to the top, it was. And the next one was delivered correctly filled. That's all the "bad". The good: I had the fish & chips, and the Beer Battered fish was some of the very best I've ever had! Fries were cooked perfectly as well. The fish was so good I was tempted not to put any lemon OR malt vinegar on it for fear of ruining such perfect fish, but in the end I added both and it just amped up the greatness.
