Brisket w/ Slaw and Mac n Cheese
Paul W.

I'm giving this experience 3-stars mainly for the friendly cashier who took our order. She was very nice as we were discussing the beautiful backdrop of the sunset. The meal, unfortunately, left a lot to be desired. Brisket and ribs were very tender and juicy, but no flavor at all. We had to add BBQ sauce to give it life, but that cab only do so much. The chicken had some good flavor, however. The sides weren't that much either. The cheese in the macaroni was weird, the beans were too watery, and the slaw had no flavor either. I wish the experience here was a better one, but I'm glad I checked it out because it's been on my list for a while. They got the tenderness of the meat down, but now it's all about getting some consistent flavor with their stuff.

Brisket and Mac plate

While on work assignment in Fort Bragg, I noticed a BBQ place, The Q. Since I was staying overnight, I decided to check it out for dinner. The establishment is clean and has indoor and enclosed patio seating. The staff was pleasant and helpful. I decided to take my meal to go even though there was no one dinning in. I ordered a 1/2 order of brisket and a side of Mac-n-cheese. As my picture shows the portions are small ($20). I was somewhat disappointed with the lack of flavor. The brisket was tender but lacked flavor. It also lacked bark. The Mac was just there but not cheesy and savory. I added their signature "tangy" sauce but didn't really help. The Q offers oysters, ribs and chicken as part of their menu. Not sure if I'll come back for more.

Rock fish

The man at the register was very nice and helped me with getting a variety of food. I got the oyster sampler platter... my favorite were the jalapeño and cheese and the Cajun (not too spicy) I had the local rock fish that was perfectly cooked and the beans were amazing!! Can't wait to go back for the bbq!

Man oh man what a very impressive beginning. Wouldn't you know that being a former texan, liking…read morecountry music, wearing cowboy boots and having a bit of a twang that I'd like barbecue? Surprisingly I do and I've had this day marked on my calendar for a minute. Barbecue on a macro scale is not easy, there are so many different moving parts that dropping anyone could be disastrous. Kristine's Kitchen on its first try is already a home run in our book. The Smoked Chicken Skewers was flavorful, tender, juicy and perfectly seasoned. The Brisket was different than I've ever had it, much firmer, and I think I want it this way from now on it was amazing. The cornbread contained a perfect blend of Jalapeño and honey , not rough on even the most sensitive of pallets. The Coleslaw tasty, both still crunchy and wet. Last but not least was the Smoked Cheddar Mac & Cheese more than just a great accompaniment that even held a remnant of a zing. The barbecue sauce was so good it should be illegal. I was also very impressed with the portions, prices, professionalism and presentation which is also very difficult to master on your first day. I highly recommend you follow them and make plans to get your barbecue on next time they're cooking. Better yet call ahead and put an order in, we will! Thank you Kristine's! A great seafaring spot:…read more Parking: they have a lot and there is also plenty of street parking Ordering is done at an outside counter and then you can sit wherever Tried: Prawn & Chips - big juicy shrimp perfectly fried. Paired with some very crispy fries, a match made in heaven. Clam Chowder bowl - big big clams. great taste, very creamy. potato chunks not too big Calamari - didn't really hit for me, missing the right sauce, not fried enough, too salty (would pass) indoor and outdoor seating available, outdoor has a nice view of the harbor (we saw a seal!) dog friendly as well

This probably takes the show here over all. Really good! Clam Chowder: This is really upsetting. Not your regular white savory sauce. This was more like a herbal clam chowder... the taste of herbs are overpowering. not worth the try in my opinion and probably on the bottom of my list of clam chowders. I've had chowder from Seattle, Santa Cruz, Monterey, Bodega etc. Service: Was good!! Only thing was I was told there were beer cans to go, but unfortunately after paying they were all non alcoholic and the person helping me did not know. I had to take beer on draft.. decided to change my order from "take out" to "dine in" and notified the same person. Food came in a to go bag!! Would probably only come back for the fish and chips... nothing more but may not especially when there are other top contenders around. Minus star for clam chowder and minus one for service hiccups

VEGAN REVIEW Came…read morehere for a dinner in a recent work trip. This came up as my best vegan option. Started with the mango salad, had the pumpkin curry with tofu as my main. Large portions! Tasty & very fresh. Great herbs & lots of sauce. It's in a building that I think is a converted lumber mill? They have seating in a main dining room & then outside... that is still inside? LOL you just have to see it to understand. The decor is nothing to write home about, but it's clean & perfectly serviceable. The service is good. Attentive, but also one the server saw I was reading a book he let me linger. Would return again!

Overall, portion sizes especially the amount of protein in the dishes were a little disappointing, but they certainly deliver on Thai flavors when you're craving it. Koa Soi Chang Mai Curry Egg Noodle Soup (4/5): Egg noodles have a satisfying chew to them with some extra fried noodles over top to add a bit of crunch. Soup was savory, but I just wanted all the flavors to be amped up more (more tang! more spice!). Fantastic option for a rainy and / or sick day though! Panang Curry w/ Pork (3.5/5): Pork was a bit overcooked and chewy, but thinly sliced enough to not be a problem. Plenty of vegetables, but a little sparse on the pork unfortunately. The curry itself had great flavor: great balance of sweet, creamy, and savory across the spices and coconut. However, the curry ran very thin and ate more like a soup. Angel Wings (3.5/5): Chicken was juicy and tender, but there was no crunch on the outside and the skin was still the soft / slightly slimy texture. The sauce is a great sweet and salty combo. The side salad wasn't the freshest, but they aren't the star anyways.
