I immediately fell in love with this place. I visited Wrecking Bar for a professional networking event. Wrecking Bar set us up in their very cool "back room." Lots of comfortable granite. Tasty appetizers. And some kick-ass homemade root beer. My only regret is that I did not get to stay for dinner. Because the menu looks good. And these guys were taking very good care of their guests. Even among our networking event, no one wanted for anything. Service was always friendly and generally fast. This is a nice cozy bar, and the food is a step above bar food. A good place to catch up with a friend without loud music blaring. The waiter was responsive, and when we asked his opinion about the dishes we wanted to order, he gave us honest answers that he would not order those. He recommended a couple options, and we both got the trout. It came with a risotto-type grain, and the waiter offered to filet it for us at the table to remove the bones. I would say it was good quality fish, and it was enough food to fill me up without having leftovers. But the sides were a little underwhelming, and I probably wouldn't order it again. Just a note, you will have to park along the street, or valet. I was there on a Tuesday night, and there was plenty of street parking. It appeared nobody was using valet, so we wondered why they would block off their parking lot for valet other than on weekends, when it may be more crowded. read more

Love coming here and each time seems to get better. Typically there is plenty of parking on the street as well as valet given the small lot. Anyway, we usually wind up sitting at the bar. Great service and so many beverage selections. This is the only place that we'll eat corn pups - absolutely battered and fried to perfection. The burger and sandwiches are awesome as well. You really can't go wrong with anything that you order. The prices are good and you'll just have a great feeling when you leave cause this is such a cool place in general. First off, I'm not a big fan of beer, pub atmosphere, or a whole bunch of drunken rowdy people that usually come with the above. Second - I was very pleasantly surprised. The cave-y or castle-like atmosphere was refreshing and added to the feeling of leaving Atl and going out somewhere in Scotland. Stone walls, wooden tables, and the whole place shrouded in darkness just added to that feeling. I also liked their drink menu, quite inventive. I tried "In the park" and it was very nice and refreshing. Dishes we ordered: beef heart tartare (great presentation but I expected a bit more of a texture; instead it was quite mushy and lacked flavor), grilled octopus (this dish was fantastic!!!), barley risotto - excellent. I was so excited to see something good go into this cool space, and even more excited when I learned it was a brewpub. Yay Hooray! I enjoyed the atmosphere very much, like being in a French wine cellar. There was plenty of seating but it wasn't all crowded together. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves, so there was a good "buzz" in the room. We tried 4 of the beers and liked all of them. I liked the Wit beer most, while the hubs liked the Amber. The Golden was very wine-like and interesting. The stout was also enjoyable with hints of coffee. Food: we each had a sandwich with fries. I like *all* fries, but some fries are better than others. These were above average but not stellar. I really liked the organic ketchup, and we asked for more of that. Dee-lish. Hubs had the pastrami sandwich, which he said was the best in town, expecially with the high-quality rye bread. He is a snob about pastrami (sometimes makes his own) and always goes to Katz's deli in New York when we are there, so he is hard to please on the pastrami front. I was suprised he even ordered it, because he never likes it anywhere but Katz's. I thought it was a little salty but he said it was just right. It was sliced very thin and had lots of the black spicy part on the edges. I had the pulled pork sandwich. This was the disappointment of the night. I really wanted to like it, but there wasn't much smoke flavor, and the sauce was VERY vinegary (Eastern North Carolina style). I like vinegar sauce but this did nothing for me. It came with a cole slaw that looked good but had very little zip. The roll was also rather ho-hum. However, we enjoyed ourselves very much and will definitely go back. This place is on the first floor/under this historic mansion and there is a small parking lot (usually full). I ended up parking down Austin Ave in the more residential neighborhood. You can also pay for parking if you park closer to little five points. I was here on Sunday around 5:30p for an early dinner. Surprisingly, this place was pretty busy and we ended up waiting around 15 minutes before being seated. I like the vibe of this place, and the tables all had a little vase of flowers (cute!). My friend has been here once before so he was able to offer some suggestions on what to order. We ended up getting the kale ale cheese fondue to start, North Carolina Trout and GA Pasture Pork Loin for entrees. We started our meal with the cheese fondue, which came with a pretzel and fresh local vegetables. The pretzel was nice and hot when it came out. I liked that the outside was a little crunchy but the inside was really soft. The vegetables for dipping were fresh, although I'm not a huge fan of raw radish... As for the entrees, I enjoyed my trout. The fish skin was crusted with seasoning and salt, adding good texture to the tender fish. The vegetable sides were also refreshing (radish, celery, and asparagus) and goes well with the fish. I got to try a piece of my friend's pork loin and it was also delicious! Echoing the same sentiments of many of the other Yelp reviewers there is a cool and neat factor about this brewpub situated at basement / lower level of this architecturally distinct colonial style with pillars. The building itself is a bit deceiving from the road or approach because you think that may be the entrance but its more of a signature card of the brewpub. Entrance is down grade from the front on the side of the building unit. There's a small patio with several picnic type tables before you walk through, but once you step in you think. Oh wow, not what I thought, but cook none the less. Its a combination of stone walls and and columns combined with wood supports. Its cozy and seating is varied for larger groups to more intimate areas. Bar is to your immediate right with seating along and around the counter. Service at the bar was friendly, prompt and insightful. Oh, btw, don't let the name Wrecking Bar Brewpub undermine the quality and choices of food this place offers up. Looking at the choices and the pictures this thought and execution is on par to places that are more buttoned up type of establishments. On this occasion, for appetizer I had the buffalo rabbit wings which I've never had rabbit wings, but cooked similar to chicken wings but slightly different flavor profile; tasty all the same. For my entree I chose the NC pain seared trout, fingerling potatoes......not a bad choice but I've had better. General crowd is a nice mix of demographic groups and all quite friendly. We enjoyed a fabulous dinner last night so I just had to write a review. I was surprised to see the menu items were so diverse and far from what I thought was offered as I've only had burgers and pub fare. I ordered and devoured the duck pot pie and my friends ordered the beef cheek. Both meats melted in your moist and had superb flavor! The sweet potato appetizer was also delicious, not as sweet as one would expect. The only thing we weren't wild about was the pork terrine but we were expecting something warm and it was cold. That's our mistake and we should have asked for more of a description. Aside from that not only was the food amazing but the ambiance was cozy and pleasant. I felt cheated with the charcuterie board because it was so much smaller compared to the pictures the earlier reviews. It was good but not worth $32. The WB Pimento was great but grilled sourdough to eat them with were a little hard. My husband really enjoyed the charred octopus and highly recommends it. I came here during a soft opening back in 2011AD. Beer and corn dogs were the offerings (and some other things). Now the brew pub has matured into a reputable establishment. It's set on some historic property. So check your history while you're there. I had the Altlanta, Partition and Victor brews. All decent. Victor was my favorite though. Overall, my food experience was positive. I had roasted octopus and spaghetti squash on my last opportunity. Both were satiable. Wrecking Pub is a pretty good place to grab a drink with a group whether you'd like to sit inside or outside on the patio. They brew here as well! Beer prices are particularly low but the cocktail prices are fairly high for what you receive. They have nice, long tables for large groups and plenty of room at the bar. I had a couple cocktails. My favorite was called "In the Park" which was a Summer type beverage. It was very light, crisp and fresh. The main ingredient was Gin with a bit of grapefruit juice and fresh basil. I'd recommend that beverage but the other beverage I ordered was served in a tiny glass filled with crushed ice and slightly more expensive. Unfortunately I can't remember the name but it had the word "Mint" in the title. I literally drank it all in about 5 gulps. Seriously wished it was bigger! We had a really good meal at wrecking bar. To be fair I would give 4.5 stars if allowed. Firstly, the cocktails and beer are both great. Get the Willett barrel aged barley wine if it's still there it was fantastic. Cocktails were good. Great whiskey menu mostly fairly priced. The cheese board was delicious! The pate was incredible. The meats made in house were also both very good. They served two goat cheeses and a sheeps milk cheese. All were delicious. The pastrami and fries were excellent. The Korean spiced pickles were very good as well. The dish entitled fermentation was a welcome surprise to a great meal! The burger was also sensational. This is a forth or fifth visit to the wrecking bar (WB). What is consistent about this "castle-like house turn brewery/bar" are the beers. Typically, we enjoy one of the carefully crafted beers, but tonight we tried the cocktails. I had a tequila based watermelon cooler. Infusioned with ginger beer and dressed with a cute fruit shaped gummy, it was as refreshing as it was delicious. My partner had a classic Old Fashion and an In Fashion; a twist on the Old Fashion. Both very, nice very smooth. Yet, in the end, he prefered his classic. As entrees, I ordered a BLT that had perfect herloom tomatoes, crisp bacon, firmly toasted bread and too much mayo. He had a pastrami sandwhich with flavorful, lean meat, but hard toasted bread. The Korean cucumbers, which tasted just like kimchee, was nice. The mac-n -cheese was ok. Although I'm mentioning it out of order, what's worth trying is the shrimp sausage appetizer. I never had sausage made with shrimp, but it was pretty special, though a little salty. I think the thing that made it so were the sauces and the blending of the flavors. I think all were perfectly seasoned, independently, but together it was like one step above savory to salty. Regardless, I certainly would try it again. About the environment, I kind of feel like it's whatever you want it to be. It can be jean casual, intimate for couples, perfect for groups or happy hour, and totally ok if you just want to sit at the bar and have a drink. Also, we've always had great service, like always. We visited the wrecking bar since it was recommended. The bar is a basement and the vibes are scary cool. The food was great. Hot melted cheese went well with the celery, carrots, apple and of course the pretzel. The Mac and cheese was seasoned very well and it was plenty for a family of three. The beef was tender and juicy. The beers are made in house, plenty of options. We had the rainbow and strawberry, sweet and delicious. The black beer we choose was oatmeal flavor, which went well with the very sweet chocolate fudge. The fudge is milk and dark chocolate with Nutella and sea salt, comes with spicy nuts and whipped cream and bbq sauce? The dessert was our least favorite. Good place to hang or dates. I had a great meal at Wrecking Bar Brewpub before a show in Atlanta! I love that it's in the basement of a venue and has a pub feel. Then add on that they brew their own beer and have tasty cocktails, just an added bonus! We came in on a Saturday night around 7 and were able to get a table without reservations. To start we had the fondue and it was SO good. They give you a pretzel, apples and some veggies and was beer based. So far the meal rocked... I wanted to keep eating that cheese! My BF ordered an assortment of sides including the mac&cheese (with the beer based cheese sauce), soup of the day (cauliflower something) and a salad while I had the Seitan Veggie Gyro with the kale salad on the side. I still don't know what kind of veggie meat I had but it was a bit odd... I liked the sauces they used but my kale salad was strange and not my favorite flavor. My BF's sides were ok, but the best was definitely the mac and cheese (I'm obsessed with that beer cheese sauce people). Overall, it was hits or misses but the hits were like out of the ballpark home run style so I have to give them 4 stars. This was our first visit to the Wrecking Bar. So, first impression, you'd miss it if you weren't looking close. Parking is typical Little 5 Points, sparse but at least they do have a little on-site parking. I am sure it was due to the day and time we went, but there were very few people there so we were seated right away. (Black Friday around 4:00pm) We started with the Farmhouse Cheese plate and it was fantastic. The spicy nuts were a bit of a surprise. Right now they have the Black Swan cheese made in Thomaston, GA. The cheese was washed in the Wrecking Bar Porter. I had the Wrecking Bar Burger and fries. Good burger, not exceptional but well prepared. My wife had the pastrami on rye which was excellent. The collard green kim chi is certainly different, but works well with the sandwich. As for beer I tried the Border Patrol American Strong Ale and the Wreck-O'-Lantern Pumpkin Ale and both were very good. Beer is served in either a 4oz or 8oz pour. The bourbon and scotch list is also fantastic. I will try to post a couple photos. Overall good experience and we will be back. read more

Dunno, it was fine. Did not live up to the hype. If it were less busy being impressed with its own cleverness, maybe it would be better. The food menu has few options, and they're all kind of clumped around three or four basic ideas. If you don't have any genuinely restrictive dietary restrictions, there is something for you, and other reviews say that they're willing to accommodate many things, so good for them. But nothing that arrived on our table genuinely knocked my socks off. It was all decent to above-decent. Some of the beer was good -- the Hammer of the Gods barleywine was pretty good, though not even the best barleywine I had in three days in Atlanta -- but some of it was not. The altbier, for instance, was a yeastshake. I get that I am more sensitive to the taste of residual yeast in a beer than many other people; but then, that's often why I order a lager: because lagers are supposed to be extra-clean beers. That's what "lager" means (in German): you store it. How long do you store it? You store it until absolutely all of the yeast has fallen out. That's the whole point of a lager. Does that take extra time compared to ales, and also mean that you have to have storage space for the beer the whole time it's lagering? You bet it does. But if you can't handle the extra storage and temperature-management needs of lagers, then YOU DON'T MAKE LAGERS. It's that simple. Waitress was super-attentive and the service was quick. They asked if we wanted inside or outside seating. We sat outside since the night was nice. Everyone was friendly as well as the locals who told us bout the community cat. We were planning on eating something small and drinking, but the appetizers was so filling and delicious, we ended up not eating anywhere after. After years of having it on our "must" list, we finally got to Wrecking Bar. I was super nervous about going on a Saturday night since they don't take reservations but it ended up being no big deal. We were seated immediately at a cozy table that provided a good view of the hopping bar and the rest of the restaurant. I loved the vibe - it reminded me of a British pub on the inside. I enjoyed a kir royale while Hubby loved tasting the beers currently on draft. The corn pups are a MUST; why doesn't everyone do a side by side mustard and ketchup offering? And, CURRY KETCHUP. I typically hate housemade ketchups but this one? *mic drop* I couldn't resist the beef cheek raviolis and they did not disappoint. Hubby had the pastrami which he adored. The food was absolutely delicious and a nice surprise since we were there more for the drinks. Our waiter was top notch. We loved chatting him up and getting to know him. Honestly, his warm, engaging personality and knowledge of the menu and beers really gave us a terrific experience at Wrecking Bar. We got to meet the brewmaster thanks to him and chat up the beers. My son and daughter-in-law suggested we grab dinner and brew at the Wreaking Bar and we had a very good experience! The Wreaking Bar Brewpub is housed in the basement of stately old house with great stone and brick work that accents the exposed wooden beams of the ceiling above, giving a warm and cozy feel to it. We went for an early dinner / late lunch as our main meal of the day. After checking out there beer offerings I ordered their flight which is six standard 3-4 oz. pours. I normally prefer to pick my own beers but since It was my first visit I went with it. My son ordered a Horchata Marata Blond Ale which has a vanilla nose and taste to it a biscuity after taste. We decide to order their cheese fondue which comes with a large portion of warm cheese, apples, beans and yellow bell pepper slices with a nice sized pretzel for dipping. We added some extra apple slices for $1 and later another pretzel for $5 as we had that nice cheese leftover that we couldn't waste... For dinner their pastrami sandwich was calling to me and came with fries and a pickle. The pastrami was very flavorful but a little to thickly cut. The homemade kraut did not add much to the flavor. I will say the sandwich was good but not great! My wife had catfish on the mind and could not resist a catfish filet that was stuffed with pepperoni the chef had prepared. She was thrilled with her choice saying it was one of the best catfish meals she has ever had! Food and Beverages 4.5 The beer was good but I didn't find a favorite in the flight. Cheese fondue was very good with a large serving of cheese you could add more munchies for dipping or retain for the main meal. Catfish stuffed with pepperoni excellent! Pastrami good not great! Great atmosphere with great food and service! The waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and was able to recommend based on individual preference. I tried their amaretto sour, which was different in the fact that they used whipped egg yoke and I was not disappointed! It was so good! My congee entree wasn't mind blowing but I wanted to try something different. I wouldn't recommend this entree but I wanted to try something different. My husband has to be on an extreme low sodium diet for his heart and his kidney. Since starting the diet we rarely eat out. When we have, he usually ends up with a sad plate of food. I reached out to Wrecking Bar in advance to see if they would be willing to make a low sodium meal for my husband that fits his requirements. The owner and chef were both so responsive and happy to accommodate, even when I had to increase the # in my party last minute. Even more amazing was that the meal my husband received was still beautiful and delicious - they did not skimp on style or flavor like most places do. my go-to when i need a little treat. everything is incredibly delicious, my favorites are the grilled cheese, bok choy, and mussel fries. the service is always lovely and it's super cozy inside and out. they were also great about covid safety during those times, redoing their parking lot as a distanced dining experience. we love getting a beer flight and trying out all yummy flavors, and hanging out with the kitty employee. wrecking bar forever!!! read more

Flew in from Dallas to Atlanta today hoped off the plane in search of a cool spot. Found this place with a cool Triple D app and found....By FAR THE BEST pastrami sandwich in the history of pastrami sanwiches!! House cured and prepared to perfection but the kicker to sandwich??!!...a SOUTHERN twist with wait for it...SPICY COLLARD GREENS!!! WHO WOULDA THUNK IT??!!..Atmosphere was amazing as well. No TVs so you actually talk (imagine that at a dinner table!) House crafted beers (one of my favs was a whiskey barreled aged brew!!) Cant WAIT to go back in June when we're back in town for our convention!! read more
