A fun time here on WTF Fridays! Was just here for the first time. Music's not bad. Plenty of top 40 remixes, electronic dance, and hip hop. I think this is one of my better OC club experiences so far; but I am biased towards gay clubs because I feel like everyone dances more! Anyway, overall good time, but drinks are kind of weak here..and there's only one bar! Keep that in mind and have fun! read more

This place is located at Shark Club on Friday nights. If you go straight to the entrance, they will charge you valet parking which I believe is $5. If you drive a little bit past shark club there is a little street there where you can usually find parking if you're early enough. Admission is usually free if you come before 10PM and sign up for the guest list, either on their website or Facebook or one of their other avenues. When you're on the texting or email list, they will usually text or email you an offer for free admission before 10PM. At around 9-9:30PM, they usually have a drag show, and on the times I went it was hosted by Adore Delano, the drag persona of the American Idol contestant and the guy that's going to be on/is on RuPaul's drag race. During the show you will see plenty of guys dressed in drag, I believe lip syncing to various songs, and you will hear Adore's jokes and entertainment. I found the show to actually be pretty good and entertaining, and my friends and I sometimes just come to see the show and not really dance. Afterwards, there is an area to relax and talk in and then there is the dance floor. The relaxing room has a mini bar/stand and people tend to smoke there. The dance floor itself is pretty spacious considering it is in OC and is offering a pretty crowded gay night. The people there are a mixed bag, I felt there were a lot more girls there than at other gay nights/clubs and it seemed there were some straight guys there too... I'm guessing trying to hit on the girls. The dance floor usually has a few go-go dancers and on themed nights there are sometimes drag performances and other dancers there. The stage has various lighting effects from the screen and I believe there was some sort of fogging device. The bar I felt was lacking, especially on their drink specials. I had one of their $5 drink specials before and it tasted super watered down and weak to me. I felt the pricing on the other drinks were also pretty high, especially considering the drink specials VLVT has (though I didn't do a side by side comparison or anything). Overall the drag show is pretty awesome, the crowd is okay and the dance floor is nice for being in OC. read more

Absolutely terrible place. I went here a few weeks ago with some friends for the first time and as we walk up we see a large line,we go to stand in it only to be greeted by an unnecessarily grumpy bouncer who,all of a sudden,hurries us out of the line telling us we need to buy tickets at the desks first. There was nothing telling us this and nothing to indicate the procedure for new customers/guests,and the desk itself was far to the right of the line,out of sight to anyone who isn't looking for it. Once we got through the line,with tickets,they padded us down worse than the airports,and with about as much tact. We entered the theatre to find a small cramped space,I have been to biker bars that where bigger, this space had a bar,a flat area in front of the bar where you could stand with your drinks,a dipped seating area in front of a raised stage,a skyloft,and a few booths on the side. Me and my friends went to the side with the booths to sit down,a young gay couple sat in the booth across from us. This area had no signs,gates,ropes,or bouncers but low and behold another grumpy bouncer hurries us out of that as if we where some cheaters or cheapskates rather than treating us as customers and guests. In summery this bar? Event? Dive? Has a slew of grumpy bouncers with its main problem simply being terrible customer service,the type that makes you feel unwanted. I have never felt so unwelcome or uncomfortable in an establishment before. This establishment needs to work on how they treat guests and maybe teach Their staff some basic manners. For the record I am a young gay man and was actually looking forward to coming here. An utter disappointment. read more

I wish I knew about this place much sooner! Free cover until 10:30pm and well drinks were $5 until 11:00pm when I came here last week. They play good music here, top 40s. Not that I don't like techno or house music but I much prefer music I can sing along with when I'm dancing. There's a lot places to sit and lounge. There's also a covered outdoor area with a huge fireplace where you can smoke. Bartenders were courteous and fast to get drinks, and that's always a plus. The crowd here is very diverse, from 18+ high school students to older gentlemen but mostly people in there twenties. Young straight couples like to come here too, I guess. It's also racially diverse, which is a nice change. If I'm clubbing, I'm usually at Rage in West Hollywood on Gameboi night where it's 95% Asians. I love it there but this place also gets high marks. read more

Why are you playing ODB at a gay club? Bitch, give me MDNA or give me death. They did spin some Brittany, Beyonce, and some Kylie, but enough with the hop-hop. Wrong audience. Everyone just stood there on the dance floor and the DJ didn't care one bit. Their strippers suck and don't even know how to take a dollar bill. They dance, yeah, but they don't interact with anyone. Still, I love this place. Vlvt is so dull and this place just has the energy I'm looking for. Their drinks don't cost a fortune either, so getting drunk is a slight bit less regretful. Gay, straight, abstract sexual identity... everyone should come and try this place out. Not the best club ever, but for Orange County, it's one of the best around. read more

This place is only good when you're super fucked up because at that point you don't care about the music or anything. You just want to dance. Other than that, the music is not good. They always play stuff that's on the radio. Like cmon. They play sad slow songs like, hello! This is a CLUB! Not a funeral! My boyfriend and I went here last night and we had so much fun together. The dancers were so great! The vibe was a wild one and everyone seemed liked they were having a good time. Even the waitresses and waiters seemed to be dressed up! Honestly, the best part truly was the music, I love good music and this was awesome. It was definitely a night to remember. Just a tip! Been here many times and they keep things fresh and trendy. Several djs playing different genres. Slew of bartenders so wait time is low. A packed patio to socialize and vape my ass off. THIS IS THE SHIT. I've been twice and both times were excellent. Great music, lotta electronic and hip-hop along with pop. It's truly a magnificent sight to see everyone lose their shit over GAGA. In case you didn't know, this is *technically* a gay night, but I've made amazing friends here, straight and gay. It's great because gay night means lots of fun, and a general lack of creeps- or at least, discouragement of creeps. We've had an unfortunate couple of experiences with strange, sweaty dudes approaching us and without asking or even saying "hello", finding it acceptable to grab hips and start dancing on you like a psychotic monkey (I'm looking at YOU, Woo!-Guy). LUCKILY, the gay community is very protective of people getting harassed and if the guy won't listen to us, a gay avenger will step in, calling out the simpleton creeper in his fatal error of being an asshole. When the club opens, it starts up with an AMAZING drag show led by the amazing Twiggy Whorehol (feel free to correct me if I'm remembering that wrong). It's hilarious, sexy, and an all-around great time. I always walk away feeling like the plainest Jane in existence after all that glitz and glamor. But yeah, it's an amazing night, great for meeting lots of interesting people, and dancing your ass off. Update 6/15: Another unfortunate experience with an aggressive, wasted guy who literally grabbed me and tried to kiss me- some guys I'd met earlier saw me trying to pull away and stepped in to get him the hell away from me. AYEEEEEE If they had more Trance music that would be a dream but i know that won't happen because big room house/ Dance is soo mainstream AKA "martin garrix, "showtek" tiesto" etc...., but overall good freaking music, and Fun AF when you're Turnt. Still my fave gay club in Orange County, though I have more respect for VLVT in Santa Ana. This place kinda has a spoiled attitude. But it's bigger than VLVT and gets a younger crowd. More of a dance place. The drag show is fun, though they gotta stop with the Adele and Lana del Rey, as much as I love those singers ... the drag gets weak. The best I've seen yet was when one of the queens did an act from "Chicago." It was stunning. The hostess, Adore Delano, is fun and very high energy but could dial it down a few notches. Gets a little much. Every joke is "Hiiiii! We just f*cked! You guys are all f*ckers!! Are you a bottom bitch?" Some of the queens are super cool, like Jakarta, who befriended my boyfriend and me and put us on her personal, recurring guest list. How cool is that? The dance floor gets crazy packed by 11. You aren't allowed on the floor till after the drag show is over, which is about 10:45. Last time, I kept stepping on a guy's foot over and over. He didn't even seem to give a shit. It cools down after midnight. I think the "strippers" are fun, too. There are a lot of beautiful people here, btw. Probably because it's Costa Mesa, and you get a lot of the Newport Beach crowd. People tend to stick to themselves, though. This is also 18+. Also, the hip hop music gets ... old. They don't really do the gay anthems here, either. No Madonna, no disco, '80s. A lot of Nicki Minaj and repeated tracks (I come almost every week, so I notice). Oh, well. read more

This is a decent venue if you're underage, but expect overpriced and watered down drinks if you're 21+. As a former bartender, I counted the pours and they pour a half shot per lower priced mixed drink but charge $12+ for a full shot or a watered down Long Island. The bartenders had not opened their tills until 10:30pm and it took 20 minutes to flag down a bartender to get a drink as they all kept ignoring everyone at the bar and texted on their phones. One bartender ignored a group of people after they called out to him for 10 minutes and then waltzed over after another bartender took their order to ask if they had been helped when he watched them the entire time. Service is terrible if you're of age, to be concise. The drag show takes place in a very small space and they rope off practically the entire venue until after, which creates an incredibly cramped space where it is almost impossible to get to the bar or see the show. Afterwards, the gogos, dance space and atmosphere are nice, but not worth the price of the weak, overpriced drinks, and teeny bopper atmosphere. read more

I love this place it's always a blast you can go have a great time dance people there are just amazing. every week they have a theme and they go out of your way to make sure that it's carried through in everything from amazing drink specials to the decor. If you are looking for a place to go and have an absolute blast, then this is your place Things have changed somewhat- yes they still have then theme but it just seems now that it's not the same great place it use to be. If you like waiting around for things then this is the place for you -- meaning when they say the doors will open, they never do -- it's more like 20 - 30 minutes later so you spend your time standing in line outside. My friends and I used to come here all the time, but we stopped going for quite some time. Until recently we went for a friend's birthday party, who had gotten a table, bottle service and what not. The service getting in the door and figuring out where we were going to be seated at was a complete s#!+ show. Nobody seemed to know what they were doing...I would never get table service again. But, on a better note. I was happy to see that they had made some improvements inside, they cleaned it up nicely, we all enjoyed the music, and besides dealing with the actual employees had a great time. The people who promote this event through the most hassling and overly forceful texts. When you ask them repeatedly to discontinue texting you, even if you've moved and are nowhere near Costa Mesa, they ignore you. They ignore your calls and hang up on you if you call in to complain. I'd give this place a higher review if the dj would play some music that you would expect in a gay club. Tired of coming here to hear chris brown, flo rida, pitbul like no. Its a miracle if they play katy perry, gaga, madonna , kesha, or any females. Yes they do play beyonce but that's not enough tbh. Will go to west hollywood instead. WTF Fridays is an event that is hosted by different venues that the LGBT Community can enjoy. This event has treated their customers like complete an utter trash that I had to post my experience, so that people know what is going on and what to expect when they plan to attend this event. If you want to avoid being treated like trash please take a moment to read this review. On 5/13/16 I went to WTF Fridays with some Friends. I order a drink from the bartender and left my debit card in the black hard holder (My Fault). Upon noticing that my card was gone I kindly asked if they could check the booklets to see if it is in there. Which it came to that it was not. This was NOT an issue for me as I just needed to call and cancel the card and get a new one the next day. As I was outside about to cancel my card my friend text me stating that they found it. I walked back up 3 flights of stairs to the bartender Matt who instructed me Cody the manager had my card. I then walked back down the stairs for Cody to instruct me that the Bartender had it. As I was frustrated that I am getting the run around with my debit card and who has it Cody mentioned to me that it was on the floor and insinuating that it was my fault; however, upon further investigation it was on the floor on the bartender's side of the venue which means they dropped it and not I. As expressing my frustrations that the bartenders don't know where it is at a Security office placed her hands towards me and stated to not give him an attitude. After being harassed by her I went upstairs to get my card which it was again found. The Bartender apologized and I let him know I would handle this matter on my own as I review Bars and Nightclubs. He then proceed after I shared that information to want to buy me a drink. As I went outside Cody approached me and asked if I found the card (as if he cared) and I replied stating yes. ****The Following Day**** I called WTF Fridays on 5/14/16 to speak about this and come to find out that Cody is not the manager and that they will investigate this for me and get back to me with possible solutions within 24 hours. It is not 5/16/16 and I have yet to hear back from the night club. As someone who has ran a Bar I would have kept the Card at the bar and let the bartenders know where the card is, so they can locate it when the customer comes back.... However, if I was approached with this issue I would have walked with the customer to the bar apologized and served him a well drink for the inconvenience. However, this is a great leadership we are speaking about in a building full of incompetent employees. I would urge you to pay attention to your items as the event gives no support to the customers if things shall go unexpected. Such as losing a debit card. read more

Yes people WTF fridays is the place to be if your young, hot and gay. Sexy host Angel Bonilla has done an amazing job orchestrating such a spectacular even for the gay scene in OC! It's nice to have experienced another gay club in the OC. I just recently heard of this place. I went on 8/23/13 with some new friends of mine. The overall experience was pretty fun!! However, the hispanic male bartender/manager at the main bar is a complete prick. I usually don't like to judge places by their staff bcuz they come and go but this guy was a real douche. He tried to charge me $34 dollars for two "shots" of warm well vodka and a Corona. There was no way in hell I would pay that much for the pour he gave me. I had already bought a few shots from the pretty female bartenders earlier in the evening and their pour was where it should be. I told him I didn't want the shots for that price or for their ridiculously small size. He threw the shots in the trash and said "F*** you then, you can wait". He proceeded to tell the other bartenders not to help me for a while. So of course I stood there like an idiot for about 20 minutes when finally the pretty females came back over to me...apologized for his douchey behavior and gave me a proper round of drinks. The same order for only $23.00!!....interesting. Maybe he just wasn't as gay friendly as the other bartenders. He was dripping sweat into the drinks anyway so it was kinda gross. Not that any of the gays trying to get drunk gave a sh**. Whatever works right? The place is huge!!! I was skeptical about the 18+ thing but it was actually nice to see some younger faces in the crowd. No jail bait that i saw just a bunch of young 18-25 years olds turnin' it up on one of the last weekends of summer. It was a great crowd. Diverse. Upbeat & not as pretentious as WeHo. I think the overall advice for this place is to pregame in the car. Duh, I should have known better but we were running late. Had to be in before 12am for free entrance. Overall, it was a lot of fun! I'm not going to be a whiny b**** about the bartender. I'm over it. I hope they refrain from treating their guests like that though. Adore the venue, bartenders, and performers. But the lighting engineer was dreadful, I was so blinded by the constant bright white search lights that I couldn't even watch the show. I missed my favorite performers because the light was so blinding it caused me to get a migraine. It wouldn't have been bad had whoever was doing the lighting bothered to change it. But instead I was punished for the entire show. So glad I spent all that money to get blinded... Aside from the lighting my experience was amazing read more

I love coming here every Friday! This was the first club I've ever been to, and I'm hooked on it. The Djs are really good and they somehow know what songs I want them to play every time I go haha The volume of the sound is a bit loud, and you leave with your ears muffled at the end of the night, so wear some earplugs to help lower the volume. Other than that it's amazing. There's also an outside patio with a Dj that you can go to when you're tired and want to socialize. This place is also the reason why I'm skinny and have a six pack haha Because I love to dance there every Friday! They always have fun themes every week that I like dressing up for :) read more

Went here with a friend since she's not 21 yet so she had to pay $20 to get in while I paid $10. I thought drinks were very pricey $12 for a sex on the beach is ridiculous! and beers were $6 which isn't too bad so i stuck to that all night. But it got pretty boring soon since they just kept playing the same type of music all night. So much fun! The night we went it was foam night. Lots if cute guys in their swim wear playing in foam. Though I didn't know we would be going to a foam party so I went in in jeans and a pollo. Was a little shocked to see the club was partially empty when we got there around 10:30, however that didn't stop us from dancing all night. People started to turn up around 12 and finally felt a little crowded. Despite the small number, we were blessed to also see Alyssa Edwards perform for OC Pride which was AMAZING. YAS GAGA. read more
