On the advice of a friend I have this place another chance. I have to say, I won't be listening to this friend for anymore recommendations. I had a similar experience as previously, the service was atrocious. It seems that the tenders are simply interested in socializing with their crowd. I think the food would have been pretty good if it had made it to our table before it was room temperature. The management has got to address MANY issues before I darken the doorstep in this place again. Highly disappointed in the experience, there are MANY places that are superior within walking distance of this place. This used to be my favorite restaurant to eat at when in Lake Jackson and I was looking forward to having the jagerschnitzel. When my dish was served I thought I was given the wrong entree, because the white chunky mass on top of the hard schnitzel was not a brown gravy like it has been in the past. This meal was dry and I had to wash it down with lots of water. I even asked for extra jager "sauce" to help wash down this $17 cardboard like meat and the new topping looked a bit better, but still was not a brown gravy. What a disappointment. Response to Richard: I asked our server if the recipe was changed and her response was "I don't know". I told her that the food was dry and asked may I have more "sauce" to help wash it down. Overall this place has been good but tonight... First off took almost 40 mins to get a table when there empty ty tables. Secondly when we got a table it had net even been cleaned. Thirdly it took at least 10 mins for a waitress to come over to My wife and I. We went to order a beer and it was like alnost every beer we wanted was out. So we settled on cheap beer that was suggested and didn't pair well Wii's he the food at all. This place must be going through management changes because this is an experience that would make Me never come back if this was my first time here. 1/1/2018 My favorite sandwich was great, as always and I love the pub chips! I haven't been here in awhile and the menu has been redone. I was very frustrated because I couldn't find The Boss 1/2 sandwich on the lunch menu. It was there, I was just overlooking it. Sometimes it takes a few trips to take in the changes. Service was good and one thing WurstHaus always does is give you a 10% discount with your Yelp Check-in, that is a sweet touch! 1/30/16 we were waited on today by Corbi. She is a real sweetheart and provided us with excellent service. I had my favorite sandwich here "The Boss". My plus 1, Mommie Dearest, had a Ruben and we both changed our side from fries to pub chips. I like the atmosphere and the food here is so good that I'm thrilled when I leave feeling like this was a good choice. The Wurst Haus could easily be in my top five all the time if I received service like I received today. I've been coming to Wurst Haus for over 11 years. I love the atmosphere and the bartender crew. I understand times are challenging and understand the need to adjust prices; however, charging $1.99 for cheese sauce in a small container the size used for ketchup is a little much. I wish Julie Lynn Brannan (a manager) would do her job and manage her staff instead of her bartender (Stevie) instead of accommodating her friends just like her bartenders on staff around 10pm. Very nice place. Large space, private room for parties or other activities, and also good food too. Especially when in a small town with no strong competitors, it becomes more outstanding. Their service quality is nice too. We ordered some to go food, so stayed in the waiting area a little bit, several waitresses came over to check if we have been helped or not and help check with kitchen for our order. We will definitely go and sit down for a real meal on our next time visiting. read more

Wurst Haus is a neat little restaurant/bar in Lake Jackson, a town with which my husband and I are unfamiliar. We had been vacationing in nearby Sargent and wanted some late-night food, which is non-existent in the small coastal town. We saw Wurst Haus was open until midnight on Friday, so we made the ~40-minute trek over to Lake Jackson only to find that their kitchen closes at "about 10pm or so." I didn't see anything about this on their web site, so it was disappointing to learn the hard way. We decided to go ahead and split a beer since we were already there, and we'd come back the next evening to actually eat. Saturday evening comes and we make the trek again, but earlier this time. I was excited to try their jager schnitzel, and the husband wanted to try their Wurst Sampler (4 sausages). He ended up going with the Wurst Plate instead (2 sausages plus potatoes and red cabbage). We were not wowed by any of the food, unfortunately. I'm used to an actual gravy on jager schnitzel, but this was a clumpy 'topping.' The pork was good and crispy, but it was thick and the taste of pork chop rose up through the mushroom topping. The potatoes were hardly crispy despite being "German Fried Potatoes." The red cabbage was good. My husband's sausages were "ok" in his opinion. Here's the thing, if you're from a big city and can have authentic German food all day long, don't get the German food here. Try something else and have a beer. There's a huge selection of beer so definitely something for everyone. Our Friday night bartender was nice, but our Saturday night waiter was absent. I ended up asking for a tea to go just so I could get a second glass for the price we paid. Our total was $10.66 with tip on Friday for the beer, and $43.42 with tip on Saturday (which included the 10% discount for checking in with Yelp). read more

Wurst Haus is a German food themed restaurant with 110 beers on draft. This is a fun place to go and catch an Astros game down in Lake Jackson. I really enjoy the variety of beers they offer along with the half pint option if you wish. I enjoy the different Wursts you can select from on the menu, and the cheese curds weren't bad either. Saw a poster on the door days in advance that they would be open till midnight for New Year's Eve. Not having plans yet and not wanting to go out of town myself and a few friends decided this will be the place where we would hang out, toast at midnight before calling it a night and going home. We had a couple of drinks a couple doors down first at a place closing around 10 ish then headed to finish the night at Waursthouse. We came through the door and were shouted at out at from a hundred feet away "WE'RE CLOSED, WE'RE CLOSED". We said "But the sign on the door says you're open till midnight New Year's Eve. It's New Year's Eve." "NOPE, WE'RE CLOSED". So it's 10:30 at night now and we're screwed. Luckily I text my daughter and she was diagonally across and down the street. The bar there was open till midnight. We met other people there that I'd been kicked out of Wuarsthouse and we all partied and had a great time. Thank you Brody's for saving the night. Ok, so either this place was really bad on the night I went, or I don't like German food. Since the latter seems more likely, I will just continue with the only tangible thing I think I can speak about. We were there for a surprise birthday party so it was being catered. The sausage that came out as an appetizer was actually pretty good. The salad that came after was also ok. However then we received the entree stuff and I have no idea what it was supposed to be like, but all I know is I had one bite of the ICE COLD mashed potatoes and then was done. So, I can't really say what the rest of it was like, but I don't like mushrooms (which were on the chicken) or red strips of mushy cabbage, or scalloped potatoes (school lunches could have ruined that for me). But this review is admittedly probably not the most insightful as like I said, I just don't think I like the selection. I can't honestly get over the cold mashed potatoes though. Service was great with friendly and courteous staff. But, the food was mostly awful. The "Jäger" sauce was creamy. Actually, it was somewhat grainy sour cream with canned mushrooms. Not at all what jäger sauce is. The potato salad was cold, there is some debate as to whether German potato salad should be warm. I'm usually in the later camp, it was tasty but with a bland texture. The schnitzel itself was very tough with no hint if lemon. Lastly, they committed a mortal sin in my German book by not serving spaetzle. All in all, this is the furthest from authentic German food as you can get. But, the American food was enjoyed by almost everyone. The beer selection was good. I lived here for several years and never tried it, not really a fan of german food in general. I've heard how popular it was since they renovated etc. and when I was in town for a visit we decided to check it out. Boy was I surprised! I sure didn't feel like I was in LJ! TV's everywhere and insane amount of beer choices. There was tons of seating outside and plenty of room inside. When we arrived there was a class reunion going on so I thought service would suffer but that wasn't the case at all. The food came out pretty quick, and it was all pretty good. We had some of the german and non-german fare and it was all delicious, decadent and totally unhealthy but delicious. I had a sandwich and the bun was amazing. We asked the waiter to change one of the TV's to the Astro's game and he did it without hesitation. There was a band and I admit if we had been in the main room I might have been a little overwhelmed with all the people from the reunion and the band playing but the little side room we were in was perfect, we were able to talk and hear each other and still enjoy the blues band that was really good! read more

My team and I travel to the Lake Jackson/Freeport area frequently, and have dined here on three separate occasions. The food quality is substandard at best. I can't wrap my head around the reason a brat would be cold, this has to be one of the easiest things to prepare. The first two experiences the service had been terrible, although last night our waitress was attentive. On a final note, we walked in the back door closest to the kitchen and immediately noticed a waitress smelling a sandwhich, which involved her face hovered above it and actually making contact with her nose. The place is alright for drinks and they have a lot of beer, however my boyfriend had starting eating before he got a taster of the beer he asked for. We frequent downtown for an evening meal/drink. Wursthaus is commonly our goto place, but the last 2 visits have been disappointing for one reason: service. On jazz night (last Sunday in April) sat outside with my family. It was busy, but we were actively ignored by the waiter. After 10 minutes I went to the bar and ordered our drinks and food. The bartender apologized and brought our food out. I had to make another trip to the bar for a second round. Tonight my wife and I stopped in for a drink and sat on the patio. There was one other 2 top. We were walked by twice by the only server out there. After 10 minutes we walked to another restaurant. We will continue to support local businesses and hope to see improvement in service. read more

Ok, might be my new fav place in Lake Jackson area. We've been wanting to try this place for a while and finally made it over for lunch on a Saturday. Very friendly and helpful staff. They have an awesome bar with lots of Tv's. I think she said over 100 different beers. Saw some local breweries on the list and was very happy with my half pint of Mermaid pale ale. We shared a soft pretzel and the cheese sauce and mustard were awesome. I got the small Holy Cow (steak salad) and was perfect for lunch.
