Though expensive, flavor was good and, if you like jellies, they load them up here. If I had a choice, I prefer the offerings at 3CAT in Arcadia for mango drinks; however, I think this is a great spot on a hot day in Pasadena.

Aesthetics in the shop is pretty nice, very modern and bright, perfect spot to do work. Parking - Shared with Afters Ice Cream right across, very small parking lot, 4 spots only. Street parking is available but the street itself is a one way street. My wife and I both shared the Onyx Hojicha MT and the Oreo Uji Matcha, both were very refreshing as the day was pretty warm. The drinks came out pretty fast as well so props to the staff for preparing them quickly. The matcha is not very overwhelming which is always a good sign to see when you purchase matcha drinks. Oreo mixed with matcha is always a solid choice for me so I recommend this drink when you visit. Overall, a very simple but high quality shop, it's a bit on the expensive side when it comes to tea shops but it's definitely worth checking them out as their drinks are on the higher quality side.

We chose outdoor since it was such a nice day out. They have all of their desserts on display in the case, so you can peruse the options and see what looks good. So many of the desserts looked good, like the matcha yuzu chiffon crepe cake or the rose and lychee crepe cake. We ordered via the kiosk and got the mango sunshine souffle pancake ($16.50) and well as a couple drinks. My drink was the white peach lemon jasmine bliss ($6.25), with 50% sweetness and less ice. Even though there are signs everywhere saying that it takes 15-20 minutes for the souffle pancakes to be cooked, ours came out super quickly, in 5 minutes or so. We got it with the sauce on the side, but I regret doing that as I saw others getting it with the sauce on top and it was beautiful. The pancake was super fluffy and a bit eggy as well. We all really enjoyed it with the mango sauce. I made the mistake of eating the pancake first before trying a sip of my tea. The pancake was pretty sweet, so I could barely taste my drink, but I think it was good? I could taste a bit of the lemon but definitely not the white peach, which is a lighter flavor. I got a slice of their Hokkaido cheese cake roll for $7 to go and had it the next day. It was okay but definitely a bit pricy for what you get. I'd love to come back to try their other desserts and pancakes!

However, a few recent misses include: - Pistachio croissant with an overpowering alcohol flavor, like someone used too much pistachio extract instead of real pistachios. - The matcha banana latte tasted very watery and bitter, and didn't seem to make the most of either flavor. It somehow added up to less than the sum of its parts, which was a bummer for $9.50. - Not exactly a miss, but the person behind the counter cautioned me that the coffee cake I tried to order was too stale. I appreciated that . . . but why are stale pastries even on display? We have also had several false starts attempting to order things on the menu that they are all sold out of. This isn't the end of the world, but when it happens multiple times, it starts to feel like the signage is more for decor than information about what's truly available. I also had a strange experience trying to use the restroom. I could barely reach it behind all of the storage, and even when I did get inside, I could not for the life of me find the light switch and had to use my phone's flashlight to see. This was a while ago, so maybe this part is better now, but it contributed to the overall feeling that things are not quite on track. I hope that they can resolve whatever issues are happening behind the scenes, because this is exactly the kind of place we want to support, and I still think it has a lot of potential!

I did go into the bookstore and they had a variety of genres and little nick-nacks for bibliophiles to purchase. I didn't partake of the Boba (perhaps another visit) but I did have a nice walk around. Parking lot is tight here, but know there is parking on the back side of the building off Los Robles. I must mention that there are a few restaurants in this corner and they smelled delicious! The price is a bit high for just boba, but you're paying in part for real estate. Service varies wildly. The older gentleman is gruff and unhelpful. The young ladies who man the front desk are far friendlier, and much more helpful. There is plenty of street and structure parking in old town Pasadena, and this is a short walk from a number of them.

The mazapan drink was still up on the menu but the employee said they no longer make that, no explanation why it was still up there. Then seemed really impatient cuz I had to think about what to get instead. Ended up ordering a taro milk tea size 16 oz which took almost 10 minutes to make which I thought was way too long considering no one else was there. When I finally got it, it looked like a kids size there's no way that was 16 oz and tasted completely mediocre. Also cost $7 before tip which I regret giving an extra $1 too. Yikes with all the other boba and coffee shops in Pasadena they cannot afford to offer such low quality and poor service. Will not be back again.
