a taco truck parked on the side of the road

Food Truck Friday at the office always makes me happy! Wylie St Tacos was one of our options and I opted in! Yum! I remember trying them once in the museum district but hadn't had a chance to write a review. I got one of each taco. They were pretty decently sized, and I enjoyed that they weren't greedy with the portions - I was hangry! Chicken - least favorite of them all. While salty, the flavor just wasn't it for me. Beef - okay. What I would get for my family. Not as salty. Pastor - yummmmmmmmmy! Not really a pork person, but wow! Next time they are there I will probably get all Pastor!

Visited this food truck in Alvin tonight. I ordered the Big Ass Green Chili Quesadilla with chicken. Sauce was mild but flavorful. Quesadilla had LOTS of cheese! Tortilla was perfectly grilled with nice texture and crispy edges. Some fresh, sliced avocado would have been the perfect accompaniment. Also ordered the nachos with queso. They were a crispy blue chip with a white cheese queso. Food truck owners were so kind and accommodating when I asked to purchase extra chicken for my quesadilla. It was worth the night out and eating in the park.

Mini tacos with 4 different meats. Beef, pork, chicken and pork belly. Also the three different styles, Mediterranean, Austin and Wylie.

Great and super friendly service. Must try for unique tacos! All the meats are really good but my favorite is the porky belly! If you ever see this food truck it's a must try.

I couldn't finish the remaining greasy tacos...

Ok, sooooo...I really wanted to like this food truck. I love a good taco and based on the reviews, thought I was in for a real treat. I ordered one of each of the three tacos featured. I also ordered one asada, one chicken, and one pork...because, well, I'm a foodie and wanted to try them all. The meat was extremely dry and a bit on the salty side. In addition, my tacos were sitting in a tray full of grease (see attached pic). Not sure if this was an off day or what. In any case, the men in the truck were extremely friendly and helpful with any questions I had before ordering.

This was a great food truck. I called them to come to our business to feed the employees. The employees loved it! They have different meets and taco options. I recommend trying one of each! Awesome food, excellent service!

Mini tacos ($1.75 each) - mix of pork (pastor), chicken, and beef (asada)

Sorry, not a fan of the tacos. Their truck design is pretty cool though. There's not enough difference between the three styles of tacos - Austin, Mediterranean, and Wylie St. They might look a bit different on paper, but what I tasted was primarily just the same avocado jalapeno sauce + cilantro base. Any extras like red onion or cabbage were too scarce to matter. At least compressing the menu down to just the Wylie St and Mediterranean style would make more sense. Tortillas were not good. The flour honestly tasted like rubber. And the corn tortillas weren't nearly as bad, but I've had better from the supermarket. Meats were not good. The beef (asada), pork (pastor), and chicken were all near flavorless. Chicken was breast meat but the beef and pork were pretty much just ground beef and ground pork. I don't know why they even call the pork "pastor" when there's no way it was grilled on a spit, or the beef "carne asada" when it wasn't even steak! Very disappointing when you've come to expect well marinated, juicy meats from the plethora of wonderful taco trucks around town. And the price, $1.75 for a mini taco and $4 for a regular taco? Ridiculous for the size and cheap cuts of meat. I understand this isn't the traditional parked taco truck that sells dirt cheap tacos, but Wylie St. isn't cooking anything unique enough to make it worth these prices. If you want a $4 taco, I highly recommend Torchy's instead.

    Yummm!!

Amazing food truck! Mary, the owner & Chef, has a true passion for food. Her creations are decadent, beautiful and fulfilling. Tonight I tried her "big a$$ green chile quesadilla" and "organic blue corn nachos" with carne asada and I was amazed at how savory everything was. Definitely finger licking good.

Mediterranean with beef and Wylie St with pork were both great.

Inside it is a one room eatery with counter service. My first visit was to try the Birria Burrito for $16 with the meal delivered about 10 minutes later. It consisted of their Birria meat cooked for 4 hours mixed with chorizo, cheese, rice, beans and sour cream all wrapped in a large flour tortilla seasoned with their special red colored seasoning. With the meal came a cup of consomne'. Guy Fieri would say, Welcome to Flavortown! It was delicious. The Birria beef was so tender and the flavored flour tortilla with that proprietary red seasoning they use was perfect. It was a very filling meal and well worth the price. So much so, I thought about it the next day. Another visit was to try one of their specialities, the Quesabirria for $14. This meal consisted of 3 grilled and crispy corn tortillas seasoned again with their special red colored magic dust. The tortillas had the delicious Birria meat and cheese inside and I again loved them. The tortillas are only slightly crispy and the meat, cheese and tortillas memorable. This meal also came with a cup of consommé for dipping. Another nice thing about eating here is the customer service. The lady at the counter was very friendly and helpful. The guy bussing the tables acted more like the owner than an employee with his helpfulness and the actual manager came out to check on us. Impressive for a counter service restaurant. Tacos Dona Lena deserves its reputation as one of the best restaurants of its kind. Incredible food and employees all at very reasonable prices. When I think of tacos and burritos, this place is what comes to mind!

Since it was my first time here, I ended up ordering 1 chorizo and 1 asada taco, churros, limon aguas, and my friend got the asada taco as well and a hortchata! Since it was super busy (especially on saturday night) it was about a 30 minute wait foe our food but it was well worth it! They hand out free chicharrones and they were super crunchy and a nice snack while we waited for our food. The limon aguas was super refreshing especially in the summer heat and the horchata was really good! We sat at the counter top that overlooks the kitchen. I love that the open kitchen concept so you can see them making your food right in front of you! Everything smelled so good so I was excited for my food. I love that they give radishes, cucumbers, and plenty of limes on the side. I definitely love all of the toppings and the more the better! I tried all of the salsas and the salsa de chile de arbol was by far my favorite! super spicy but had so much flavor. The chorizo was good but a little dry for my liking. I did just want to try it so I can try more than one flavor but I think I would get it again as a breakfast taco with egg instead. The asada was my favorite of the two so much flavor and plenty of meat! I was content with these 2 tacos but I could have definitely eaten more if we didn't order churros as well! The churros came with classic condensed milk and dulce de leche which is just carmelized condensed milk. The churros were crunchy and warm on the outside and had a chewy texture like mochi on the inside! Super yummy and not too sweet! I liked both sauces and would definitely get this again. Overall, I had a great experience and I will be craving the tacos until the next time I can come back! I can't wait to try a lot of their other menu items as well. Definitely recommend!

I don't like cinnamon but the horchata was addicting and it paired so well with the food. My friend got their Melon Agua Fresca and he said it was really refreshing as well. The gorditas were stuffed and they were so delicious, the cheese was melting and the bread was warm and not dry. The Quesadillas were my favorite.
